A Fiery Dash to Save Mario Circuit
The sun blazed over Mario Circuit, casting a golden glow across the vibrant track. The stands buzzed with excitement as Toads, Koopas, and countless other Mushroom Kingdom denizens waved flags and cheered. You, Reginald the human, stood near the starting line, soaking in the electric atmosphere. Beside you, Bowser flexed his massive claws, his fiery eyes scanning the crowd, while Bowser Jr. bounced excitedly, clutching a tiny microphone he'd "borrowed" from the MKTV crew.
"This is gonna be epic!" Bowser Jr. shouted, his tail wagging. "Mario and his pals won't know what hit 'em!"
Bowser snorted, puffing a ring of smoke. "Hmph. They'll be eating my dust… if this race even happens. Where's that Lakitu with his fancy lights?"
As if on cue, Lakitu zoomed down from the sky, his cloud wobbling under the weight of his panic. "Emergency! The traffic lights are gone! Stolen, misplaced—I don't know! Without 'em, we can't start the race!"
The crowd's cheers faltered, replaced by murmurs of confusion. Race Star, the Toad commentator perched in the MKTV booth, adjusted his headset and spoke into the mic with forced calm. "Folks, we've hit a slight snag, but don't worry—MKTV's got this under control! Stay tuned for some… uh, exclusive pre-race coverage!"
Lakitu hovered closer, whispering urgently. "We've got twenty minutes before the network pulls the plug. Bowser, you're the toughest guy here—can you track down those lights? I'm pretty sure they're at MKTV headquarters in downtown Mushroom City. Reginald, you keep the crowd hyped on the track. Bowser Jr., you're with Race Star in the booth. Stall for time!"
Bowser cracked his knuckles, a grin spreading across his face. "Heh, leave it to the King of Koopas. I'll tear that headquarters apart if I have to!" With a roar, he stomped off toward his Koopa Clown Car, which was parked near the pit stop.
Bowser Jr. saluted Lakitu. "You got it, cloud guy! I'll talk so much they'll forget there's even a race!" He scampered toward the commentary booth, already practicing his announcer voice. "Aaaand welcome to the greatest season of Mario Kart EVER!"
You, Reginald, felt a thrill of nerves and excitement. "Alright, Lakitu, I'll keep the track lively. But what's this about a surprise if we pull it off?"
Lakitu winked, adjusting his glasses. "Let's just say it's a green-light-level treat for you three. Something to do with the race start. Now go—time's ticking!"
Bowser's Mission: MKTV Headquarters
Bowser's Clown Car roared through the colorful streets of Mushroom City, weaving past Toad taxis and Shy Guy street vendors. The MKTV headquarters loomed ahead—a shiny building shaped like a giant Item Box, with neon signs flashing race highlights. Bowser landed with a thud, startling a group of Piantas lounging outside.
"Outta my way!" he bellowed, storming through the revolving doors. The lobby was chaos: Toads scurried with clipboards, Yoshis hauled camera equipment, and a lone Boo floated by, muttering about "tight deadlines."
Bowser grabbed a passing Toad by the collar. "Where's the traffic lights? Lakitu's, for the race!"
The Toad squeaked, pointing upward. "T-try the storage floor! Level 8! But it's a maze up there!"
Bowser dropped the Toad and charged into the elevator, which groaned under his weight. On Level 8, he found a labyrinth of crates, props, and old Mario Kart trophies. "Perfect," he growled. "A treasure hunt for the King!"
He smashed through crates, tossing aside fake bananas and rubber shells. Time ticked down—fifteen minutes left. Then, in a corner behind a dusty Rainbow Road model, he spotted a glint of red, yellow, and green. The traffic lights! But as he reached for them, a mechanical whir sounded, and a robotic Monty Mole popped out, clutching the lights.
"Property of MKTV archives!" it squeaked. "State your clearance code!"
Bowser roared, flames licking his jaws. "Here's my code—BOWSER SMASH!" He swiped, sending the robot flying. The lights clattered to the floor, undamaged. Scooping them up, Bowser sprinted back to his Clown Car. "Ten minutes to go. Time to burn rubber!"
Bowser Jr.'s Commentary Chaos
Up in the MKTV booth, Bowser Jr. leaned into the mic, his voice booming across Mario Circuit. Race Star, sweating bullets, tried to keep up. "Ahem, folks, while we wait for… technical adjustments, let's talk about the 2025 Mario Kart season with my special guest, Bowser Jr.!"
"That's right!" Bowser Jr. grinned, kicking his feet. "We got new Grand Prix tracks, like Shy Guy Falls—watch out for those slippery cliffs! And Rainbow Road's got extra loops this year. Plus, Battle Stadium's back with team battles! Me and Pops are gonna crush it!"
The crowd cheered, eating it up. Race Star whispered, "Keep going, kid—fifteen minutes left!"
Bowser Jr. winked. "Oh, and MKTV's got new shows this summer! Like Item Box Cook-Off, where Wario tries to make soup with mushrooms and fire flowers. Spoiler: it explodes! And don't miss Yoshi's Road Trip, where he eats everything. Literally everything."
Race Star nodded, impressed. "Great stuff, Junior! Let's throw it to Reginald on the track for more pre-race action!"
Reginald's Trackside Show
Down on the circuit, you gripped an MKTV microphone, standing near the starting grid where Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Daisy waited in their karts. The crowd roared as you waved. "Hello, Mario Circuit! I'm Reginald, your trackside reporter, bringing you the pre-race show while we… uh, prep for the big race!"
You approached Mario first, who tipped his cap. "Reginald, what's the holdup? I'm ready to zoom!"
"Just a little surprise in the works," you said with a grin. "But while we wait, tell us—any new tricks up your sleeve for this race?"
Mario chuckled. "Just my trusty Fireballs and a few shortcuts. Gotta keep Peach on her toes!"
Peach, in her pink kart, giggled. "Oh, Mario, you'll need more than that to beat me! I've been practicing my drifts."
Luigi fidgeted nervously. "I-I just hope I don't spin out again. But I've got a new Lucky Seven Item combo!"
Daisy revved her engine. "Less talk, more racing! I'm taking first place—count on it!"
The crowd loved it, chanting their names. You moved to the spectators, interviewing a group of Toads waving Peach banners. "We love her heart bombs!" one shouted. A Koopa nearby held up a Bowser flag. "Team Bowser forever! He'd win if he raced!"
To stall further, you announced the special card draw for the starting grid. "Alright, racers, come pick a card from this deck—no peeking! We'll reveal the order when… uh, our VIP arrives." You glanced at the sky, hoping Bowser was close. Twelve minutes remained.
The Final Countdown
Bowser's Clown Car screeched back to Mario Circuit with five minutes to spare. He leaped out, holding the traffic lights triumphantly. "Lakitu! Your dumb lights—here!"
Lakitu zoomed over, nearly dropping his camera in relief. "Bowser, you're a lifesaver! Quick, let's set these up!" The crew scrambled, mounting the lights above the starting line. The crowd roared as the red light flickered on, then yellow, then green—ready for action.
You waved Bowser over, microphone in hand. "Bowser's back, folks! Time for the grid reveal!" The racers held up their cards: Peach drew Ace (first), Mario got King (second), Daisy picked Queen (third), and Luigi sighed at his Joker (fourth). The crowd cheered wildly.
Bowser Jr. bounded down from the booth, high-fiving his dad. "We did it, Pops! Race is on!"
Lakitu floated over, grinning. "You three saved the day, so here's your surprise: you get to start the race! Bowser, you wave the green flag. Reginald, you'll fire the confetti cannon. And Junior, you get to yell 'GO!' on the MKTV broadcast!"
Bowser smirked. "Now that's my kinda reward." You nodded, gripping the cannon's trigger, while Bowser Jr. practically vibrated with excitement.
As the racers revved their engines, Bowser raised the flag high. You aimed the cannon skyward. Bowser Jr. leaned into the mic, voice echoing worldwide: "Ready… set… GO!"
Bowser dropped the flag, you fired a shower of sparkling confetti, and the karts zoomed off, tires screeching. Mario Circuit erupted in cheers as Race Star's voice boomed, "And they're off!"
You, Bowser, and Bowser Jr. stood together, watching the race unfold. "Not a bad Friday," you said, grinning.
Bowser chuckled, puffing smoke. "Stick with me, Reginald. We'll make every race this wild."
Bowser Jr. tugged your sleeve. "Next time, we race too! Right, Pops?"
Bowser ruffled his son's hair. "You bet, kid. Now let's go grab some victory snacks."
As the karts sped around the first turn, you couldn't help but feel like the real winners were the three of you, saving the day in true Mushroom Kingdom style.
