A week later
(You didn't sleep at all last night.) Lucas commented.
Brooke looked to him after taking a large sip from her coffee mug.
As the two finished up breakfast.
(I wasn't the only one who wasn't sleeping.) She replied.
(She's going to be here any minute. To tell us what she decided to do.)
(She promised us the baby would be ours. She wouldn't change her mind. Would she?) Brooke asked.
(I don't know. For months the baby was an idea. But now. He's here. And he's beautiful. Perfect. He's a part of her.) Lucas replied.
(I fell in love with him. The minute I saw him in her arms.)
(I couldn't hold him. I knew if I did I wouldn't be able to let him go.) Brooke admitted.
Lucas hugged her tightly. He didn't know what to say.
As knocking at their front door. Pulled the couple out of their embrace.
Lucas took a deep breath. As they made their way to the entryway.
Lucas unlocked and opened the door.
Alex was there with the baby boy in her arms.
Lucas let her inside and everyone got seated in the living room.
(How were these days with the two of you?) Lucas asked.
(It was alot. Eye opening. And I didn't expect to feel how I do now.)
(I never wanted or saw myself as a mother.)
(I didn't expect to love him so much.) Alex admitted.
The expression on Lucas's face softened.
(He's wide awake now.) Lucas said. Examining the newborn.
(He's alot more calmer than I thought.) Alex replied.
(Did you bring over the birth certificate? Are you're parental rights signed away?)
(I need to know what you've decided.) Brooke proclaimed.
