Day Six: Uni - Siblings
The thing about living in a submarine ship is the same thing about living with a bunch of siblings: you don't exactly have a chance to get a moment to one's self. You don't get a moment, you don't get a bunk, you don't get clothes… there is nothing you own or have or want that stays yours. It's loud and chaotic and there's never a dull moment.
Then again, who would want to be around a bunch of boring people anyhow?
"No, no, no; you got it all wrong," Clione said. "It's you put the packet in, then boil it."
"Then the bits don't come out crunchy," Shachi argued. "The crunchy bits are what makes it."
"It doesn't stay that crunchy—you're imagining things."
"Am not!"
"Are too!"
"Am not!"
Uni stood there with the instant soup packet in his hand, not entirely sure how to continue. The trio of them had drawn kitchen duty that day, meaning that he was stuck between two guys who had their own way of doing things, everyone else's way be damned.
"It's riceball seasoning," Uni said. "Does it really matter that much?"
"Well, of course," Clione said. He and Shachi continued their arguing again, allowing Uni to take a couple steps back and stand with Ikkaku, who had been watching the entire interaction contently.
"They fight worse than girls," he said. She shook her head in response.
"Girls fight dirtier; these two are just being stupid."
Unable to argue with that, Uni watched the petty disagreement as his crewmates' words faded into nothingness. It was honestly best to let it work itself out in the end. Well… it wasn't worth his time to diffuse it, anyhow.
"Oh, nice, things might get interesting," Ikkaku smirked. She elbowed Uni in the side and got his full attention back—it looked almost as though Shachi and Clione were going to come to blows… and over riceball seasoning…
With a groan, Uni handed Ikkaku the seasoning packet and grabbed the back of their crewmates' collars, keeping both of them from attempting to strangle one another. They both nearly broke his hold and Ikkaku grabbed Clione, while Uni picked up Shachi and threw him over his shoulder, carrying him out.
"Hey, I wasn't done yet!" he argued.
"Yeah, you are."
"No I'm not!" Shachi struggled as Uni carried him through the ship and out to the upper deck, where the sky was clear and sunny. He calmly walked over to the railing and tossed Shachi over, getting a raised eyebrow from their captain, who was basking in the sun for the first time in weeks.
"Do I want to ask?"
"Nah—safer if you don't."
The Captain grumbled something under his breath while Shachi loudly protested his treatment. Honestly? It could have been worse.
