More Summonings
Disclaimer: If you are stupid and think I own DxD, then sorry to burst your bubble. I don't. If I did, then DxD would have made sense.
Yo! I have returned from my coffin. My exams are over now, so I can actually focus on writing again.
The thing is... I am getting cringe feelings after reading my own stories. At least the start and the mess ups I did. I will upload till the last chapter of it that I had written.
As for what's next? I will re write this sometime in future. Probably after I have worked to a good amount of chapters in my new story.
The new story is waay better than this. I have concrete plans for it instead of going with the flow with that as well.
This is the summary of my new story set in DxD:
The Ouroboros Paradox
He dethroned kings, seeking an end. Yet, as he embraced death, it turned him away. Perhaps his story was never meant to end?
[Serafall POV]
Serafall Leviathan sat in a chamber provided to her by The House of Lamashtu, a blend of modern and ancient characteristics, as she listened intently to the Behemoth's report.
The atmosphere was tense, yet she maintained her usual cheerful demeanour, a trait that often disarmed those around her. She can't amplify the number of times her act had won her the favour of people or made her opponents in negotiations underestimate her.
Anyway, recently she was listening to a rather intriguing report.
Her muscular butler was currently standing before her and reporting a special development that had taken place when the cute Ria-tan had decided to explore the market, leaving her alone to the bloodthirsty sharks that wanted even more compensation for the loss of a Demon of their house.
"Lady Serafall," Behemoth began, his voice steady but respectful. "We have the following information about the kid. He is named… Sethos. His age is approximated to be 11 to 12 years. He is a Vampire, and has energy reserves equal to a Mid-Class.
Vampires huh? It's been just a few months since she had to solve the trouble the Romanian Vampire Faction was facing with the trade routes they used to trade with devils. It wasn't a big deal, but it had done a great job in reminding her why she didn't have a particularly favourable opinion of the bats.
Seriously, those guys were too arrogant. They almost reminded her of those Chinese factions, or as they call themselves, sects.
She just hoped that this kid wasn't like most of his species.
Serafall leaned forward, her lips twitching amusingly. "Sethos, you say? Not many people would want to name their child after a God like Set. Tell me more about him."
Behemoth nodded and continued his report.
"He was wandering the market area without any purpose, just observing the market. His attire and the secret protection he had around suggested him to be a member of one of the 7 Houses, but his mannerisms and some additional information suggests that he has outside origins…"
Behemoth continued, detailing Sethos' interactions in the marketplace, his encounters, and the 'gift' he received from Rias. Serafall's mind raced as she absorbed the information.
"Rias gave him a phone?" Serafall asked, her tone curious. There was a lot of potential teasing material there, she could just smell that with her demonic nose.
"Yes, Lady Serafall," Behemoth confirmed. "She seemed to quite like him. She kept calling him cute and stupid. Sethos' reactions to her actions were mostly embarrassment mixed with a lot of indignation."
Serafall chuckled softly, shaking her head. "Rias always did have a soft spot for interestingly cute individuals. Is there anything you know about this Sethos?"
Behemoth hesitated for a moment before continuing. "He's probably been through significant loss recently. I am not sure but there were many signs that I noticed."
Serafall's expression softened slightly, a flicker of empathy in her eyes. "Poor boy. It seems he's been through something rough."
She paused, tapping her fingers on the armrest of her chair. "We need to gather more information about him. I have a feeling someone might ask for that pretty soon. Make sure our agents keep a close watch on him, and discreetly gather any information you can about his abilities and background. We need to know everything there is to know about Sethos."
Behemoth nodded. "Understood, Lady Serafall. I will try to find more about him." With that he left the room and headed towards the room he was assigned.
As he left the room, Serafall leaned back in her chair, deep in thought. She still had a lot of deals to finalise. Being in-charge of Foreign Relations in a faction as chaotic and annoyingly unpredictable as Devils wasn't an easy job after all.
With a sigh, she reached for a nearby notebook and began jotting down her thoughts. She made a mental note to inform Sirzechs of current developments. He would want to stay informed about anything that could impact their alliances and strategies…
Oh who was she kidding. He would definitely only be worried about his cute little sister. Tsk, Sona was obviously cuter.
[Eirene POV]
Currently, both she and Sethos were sitting in the living room of their mansion in the mortal world. After bidding farewell to Verdat and The House of Lillitu, they had teleported back to their home in Uruk.
"So you're telling me that you befriended the sister of Satan Sirzhecs Lucifer… accidentally?" Eirene's voice held a mix of disbelief and amusement as she looked at Sethos, who sat across from her with an awkward grin.
She was also worried but showing that to Sethos wasn't a good idea.
She already knew that Sethos had encountered Rias, because the people Verdat had sent to protect Sethos had returned and told them about how Sethos had encountered the red haired heiress of Gremory.
At first, Verdat and her were worried but from the reports it hadn't seemed like Sethos was in any danger. That had calmed them down and when Sethos had returned back to the mansion with the books he had bought, all their worries were alleviated.
That's how the current situation came to be.
"Yeah," Sethos replied, scratching the back of his head. "It was really unexpected. I mean, it wasn't my fault that she decided to just run up to me and start talking about the figurine I was carrying."
"What exactly was that?"
"Uh, something called a Satoru Soramago figurine. It was some character in a story I think. I don't really know what Animes and Mangas are. Well, that's why she started lecturing me on the greatness of manga and anime. She was... persistent about me accepting her gospel." She can clearly see how annoyed he looked.
She chuckled, knowing why exactly he found Rias behaviour so annoying. Sethos was a child and an arrogant one. Arrogant enough that he didn't truly fear the possibility of somehow getting hurt for associating with Rias. He didn't like it when others talked to him as if they are more knowledgeable or he is stupid for not knowing something.
Honestly, the fault was theirs. She and Amenhet hadn't really considered that Sethos might need to blend into the modern world so soon. After this, maybe she would teach him about the basics of modern technology and sciences.
"Figures," Eirene muttered under her breath. "She's always been rumoured to be a bit eccentric, even for a Gremory."
"What do you mean by that? Are they all weird?" Sethos asked, probably curious about his new friend's family.
"It's a joke among the supernatural that almost all Gremories are eccentric in their own ways. The current Lord, Zeoticus, was someone who travelled around cooking stuff at different places, the Lord before him was especially interested in drama, and had invested much of his wealth in that industry. However there are benefits to their weirdness. They are very rich and influential in these sectors."
She decided to educate him more on the Gremories since he is perhaps going to be interacting with Rias often from now on.
Eirene's eyes sparkled with curiosity at that prospect. Him having a good relationship with Rias can lead to many opportunities in the future. Despite how Devils were infamous for their Evil Pieces, she knew that the Gremories wouldn't openly force anyone into reincarnating as their servant. Therefore she can be sure that Sethos wouldn't end up a devil one day after waking up.
"Really? Though, Father once told me that the Gremories were their competitors in the Fashion industry?"
"Well they have many businesses. Anyway, did you enjoy your time in Kur?"
"It was surprisingly enjoyable," Sethos admitted. "She was so lively and engaging. We talked about all sorts of things, and it just felt... easy."
She internally took a long breath of relief and happiness. It was very relieving to see that Sethos was recovering for sure.
"She was like a kid in a candy store. It was refreshing, actually, to see someone so genuine and enthusiastic."
Eirene's expression softened. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, Sethos. It's good to see you making connections and experiencing new things."
Sethos looked at her, his eyes reflecting gratitude. "Thanks, Eirene. Meeting Rias was unexpected, but it was a good kind of unexpected."
Eirene smiled warmly. "Sometimes, the best things in life are the ones we don't plan for. However, do be careful. The Gremory House can be... complicated."
Sethos nodded, understanding the weight of her words. "I'll keep that in mind."
Despite her now being relieved, she still wanted him to be cautious in the future. Well, she can't exactly punish him for th-
She suddenly had a wicked reminder. Her smile turned into a very sweet one.
"Since we are already discussing things, do remember that you need to finish your side of the deal by providing Undead servants or labourers to Lady Verdat. I have already filled the Ritual room with the required amount of dead bodies. You should get started soon, as fifty undead aren't going to create themselves" She smiled viciously as Sethos sighed.
That's what you deserve for making me worried, you stupid child.
[Sethos POV]
I closed the door behind me, with my shoulders slumped. There was no need to remind me that my happiness was going to be so short lived. Cruel Eirene.
I was currently walking towards the ritual room.
Uhh, I should probably start with the easy tasks first. I have an order of creating 100 labour undeads that can work in a mine, 50 servant undeads that need to look presentable and not… dead, 20 scout undeads that can be remotely controlled, and finally the petty order of making a female undead out of a male enemy.
I don't really know why Verdat asked for such a weird thing, but Eirene seemed to be kind of flushed about it. Apparently the guy had tried to break into the Lillitu house and had been found out pretty quickly.
I had offered to summon his soul but it seems like the intruder had destroyed his soul, and even if he hadn't, there was a chance that he would end up in an afterlife. On the topic of Afterlifes, I have been looking into my family's connection with Egyptian Muat and I think my family's souls should be there.
The problem is, summoning them would require a lot of energy, since they weren't some weak plebeians. As for the weak members, they have probably lost their layers and have been 'cleansed' already.
There was also the problem that summoning them would only be the first step.
I would need bodies, very strong bodies, to even have a chance of binding them to a physical form. Then True Resurrection would require a whole lot of materials, which thankfully wouldn't be that hard as father had already collected all the easy ones and some rare ones too.
However the biggest problem I faced was not resources or energy. They were in Muat… which means their souls belonged to Anubis. I really wonder how I am gonna tackle that. I am nowhere near the power level required to even think of meeting a God. Especially a God that would be very angry at us.
Exactly why my father, a bonafide Ultimate-Class Vampire never tried to summon his family's soul, despite having the energy required.
I sighed. Even thinking about this stuff was enough to induce a headache. I would do all of this later. I should probably focus on creating the scout undeads first, since they are the easiest option.
I was going with Dread Eagles for this one. They were aerial scouts and even had functions to detonate on command. I was provided with 35 Eagle corpses by Verdat for this. I had asked for only 20, completely sure that I wouldn't even fail once, so it was somewhat disheartening when Verdat gave me 35, though her explanation that I can keep the rest for myself made me more satisfied.
I finally reached the ritual chamber and it was cleaner than morning. Huh, an undead must have cleaned it after we left. Good job, unknown fellow.
Anyway, since I was going to make scouts first, I was standing surrounded by the still corpses of several eagles. These majestic birds, now lifeless, were about to become eyes in the sky. How poetic.
Anyway, I began the process as I would with any human. First was the organ removal, the only difference being that I would need to be mindful of the different anatomy of the Eagles. Also I was using my shadows for a change this time.
I feel like I haven't been getting much practice with them.
First, I solidified my shadow and extended it towards one of the dead eagles and carried it to a table. Next, I had to make a midline incision from the base of the neck down to the vent, to do that I sharpened the end of my shadow and tried to make a perfect incis-
I made the cut too deep. The rib cage was damaged, which wasn't supposed to happen. Now the corpse was not fit for a perfect undead. Unless… I mentally commanded one of the undeads that was cleaning the outsides of the library to bring me the book on Undead Augmentation.
I remember reading in my father's notes that there was a spell about healing undead in the book. Though, it was supposed to be very hard, so I don't know if I would be able to perform it successfully.
But I can see no problems in trying it out. I would need to read the book for one other spells anyway. In a few minutes, the undead servant entered the ritual room with the book I had asked for. After handing it over, he bowed and returned back to his duties.
I opened the book and after some minutes of searching through it, I found the spells or rather the Spell Branches I needed. Aistieada(Restoration) and Ziada(Augmentation). Restoration would allow me to repair the damaged rib cage, while Augmentation would let me alter the physical properties of the eagles. Right now, I just need the Restoration spell.
I began reading through the section of the book that had the explanation, incantation, and requirements. I knew it was going to take some time, that's why I found a chair and sat down. After a long time spent reading, I realised that the spell required precise control over my magic. Very precise.
I continued to read about it for the next half an hour. I still didn't understand how exactly it was working, but I think I understood enough to heal the bones or mend some flesh. According to the book however, this magic can be used to do a lot more stuff.
To test out if I was actually proficient now, I stood up from the chair and looked at the still and damaged eagle corpse.
I approached it, and placed my hand at the place where the cut had gotten too much.
I directed my magic to weave the damaged bones back together with some effort.
I focused intently, feeling the energy flow through me and into the eagle's body.
The rib cage slowly mended, the bones knitting together. I could see that the damage wasn't completely reversed but it was a start.
I looked at the pile of dead Eagles and felt really stupid. This definitely wasn't the easiest task.
It took me four hours to finish converting all 35 eagle corpses into near undead. I can see that it is getting morning right now. As a Vampire, I didn't exactly need to sleep, so I had spent most of the night practising the Restoration spell on Eagles on which I made mistakes. I now have a decent mastery of the spell.
In the time between converting their corpses and sometimes regenerating my magic, I had also learned the Augmentation magic, which was far more complicated. I has to focus on the specific branches I needed, the Decay Inducement and Explosive Inducement.
Now I just need to bind some Lesser Souls to these undead carcasses.
With a practised wave of my hand, the ritual circle drew itself on the floor, intricate runes and symbols glowing faintly in the dim light. Each mark was precise, ensuring the ritual would be successful and the binding of spirits to the physical forms would go smoothly.
The shadows around me coiled and writhed as I summoned a weak bird spirit, its ethereal form shimmering in the air before me. Holding Heka's Staff aloft, I channelled my energy into the spirit, binding it to the first eagle corpse.
Since these were just normal animal spirits, there was little to no will in them. That made the process of overpowering them especially easy.
The eagle's body twitched and then rose, eyes glowing with an unnatural blue light. I repeated the process with the remaining eagles, each one coming to life with the infusion of spirit and magic.
Next I linked their eyes to mine via a simple augmentation spell. It was made for that exact purpose, normally only Necromancers can use it to see through the eyes of their undead, but I would just teach this spell to the members of Lillitu, if they don't already know it.
I hope they don't. Just more free stuff for me.
Anyway, the final step was to imbue them with the unique ability to detonate on command and poison stuff.
I concentrated, directing my magic to alter their very essence. A rather dark aura enveloped each Dread Eagle, their talons and beaks now capable of inducing poison and decay in any living being they touched. They can also be remotely detonated now. However the blast would only be harmful to Low-Class beings.
It was just a simple application of the undead conversion spell, but extremely lethal to living beings who don't have innate resistance.
As the transformation completed, I stood back and admired my work. The Dread Eagles were ready, their dark feathers rustling as they awaited my command. I could feel their connection to me, their obedience and readiness to serve.
"Fly," I commanded, my voice resonating with authority.
The Dread Eagles took to the air, their wings beating powerfully as they soared out of the chamber and navigated their way through the Mansion. Through their eyes, I saw the undeads cleaning and doing some chores. So eyes checked, and as for the detonation thing, I don't think I want to test it right now.
Satisfied, I turned to my check list and ticked off the Dread Eagles. Now I just have to do even more work!
Joy.
I wonder why I felt like I would be doing some truly life-draining things. Looks like I actually need to fight the boredom for my life. This is the 43rd Soul I am summoning.
Standing in the centre of my ritual chamber, the air was thick with magic. Shadows writhed around me, solidifying to hold the necessary items for the ritual.
I have been trying to experiment and have been successful in all the 43 summonings till now. It was a risky experiment but I was confident in surviving intact even if I failed.
I had removed the usual protective circle, confident in my control over both the summoning process and my shadow abilities. But I had still ordered three undead guards to stand close, and be ready to intervene if necessary. Just in case.
I again began the incantation, the Coptic words flowing smoothly from my lips. As I chanted, the runic symbols on the floor began to glow, and the magic in the air grew heavier. The shadows around me pulsed with my energy, forming a barrier that sealed the ritual space.
It was instinctual at this point. I didn't even need to manually do that.
A faint light appeared in the centre of the summoning circle, growing brighter and more defined. The spirit began to materialise, a Low-Class one as I had intended.
I directed the barrier shadows to tighten around the forming spirit, restricting its movements and ensuring its compliance. Despite the soul being an incorporeal thing, it still wasn't above magic.
I wasn't even focusing at this point. Like I have been doing it successfully for so many times that I am pretty confident on doing it with blindfolds on.
Apparently the world was an asshole and decided to make sure that I don't grow more arrogant.
The spirit seized the opportunity that my lack of focus presented it with, and broke free from its bindings, darting towards me with malevolent intent.
Well bad for the spirit, I wasn't that unfocused.
Reacting swiftly, I summoned every shadow in the room, merging them into a mass of dark tendrils that pierced the spirit from all directions. The room crackled with energy as I poured my will into the shadows, overwhelming the spirit with sheer force of my willpower.
"Obey," I commanded, my voice echoing with authority. This was.. I think the 24th or 25th summoning where I wasn't using the Staff to cheat. I was getting somewhat tired but I think I can finish the 50 mark before today ends. I will be drinking some high quality blood after I am done. I deserve that much.
The spirit shuddered, its form flickering as it succumbed to my dominance. I directed the shadows to guide the spirit into the undead form that stood ready. The merging process was seamless, the spirit integrating with the undead to create a half-sentient entity.
I took a deep breath, my mind already planning the next summoning. I should be getting bored doing the same thing so many times. I had thought so too, but the thrill of mastering these rituals and improving my abilities was far more invigorating than the tediousness of repetition.
"One more down," I muttered to myself, a smirk playing on my lips. "Let's see if the next one is weak as well."
Positive reviews and valid criticism is always appreciated. Seriously, try to drop at least a review.
Right now you would get to read just three chaters in advance. I wouldn't recommend it right now. If you still wanna support and motivate me to write faster, do consider subscribing.
