Azumi Chp.1: I Am Here
Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo International Airport
June 11, 2021
Within the city of Tokyo at the Tokyo International Airport, citizens were going about their business, whether they were getting ready to travel to another location, or leaving after arrival. Upon arrival, Azumi Fukushima, and her cousin Kelly McFoley proceed to make their way to the baggage claim.
"I'm so glad that I'm able to come with you here in Tokyo and stay for a bit, Azumi," Kelly said.
"My parents and Haru will be thrilled to see you again. And I cannot wait for you to meet my friends," Azumi said.
"This is gonna be an awesome summer vacation," Kelly said.
"Especially when you see me in action as Sonic String," Azumi said.
"But doesn't everyone here know that you're Sonic String?" Kelly asked.
"Yeah, but that won't stop me from protecting the innocent," Azumi answered.
"But why still keep the superhero getup?" Kelly asked.
"I have my reasons," Azumi answered.
The two girls soon arrived at the baggage claim. As they approached the conveyor belt, Azumi noticed a familiar face next to it. She grows a smile upon realizing that it was Genji Sakurai.
"Genji!" Azumi called as she ran over to him. "I am here!"
The boy turns his head to see Azumi running over to him with Kelly following behind her. He rolled his eyes in amusement as he raised his arms out. Azumi approaches Genji as they both hug each other.
"It's great to see you again," Azumi said.
"Same here, Azumi. It's good to be back here again," Genji said.
The two pull away from each other as Genji turns his head at Kelly.
"Hey, Kelly," Genji greeted with a small wave.
"How were things back in Mistral?" Kelly asked.
"Pretty good. Some Grimm and baddies here and there. But overall, good," Genji answered.
"Glad to see you're doing okay, Genji," Kelly said.
"Hey, maybe we can all go out for a bit before we go meet up with our families," Azumi said.
"Sure. We'll sight see a bit before we all head home.
"I'll call for an UBER," Kelly said.
The conveyor belt begins to move as bags of all shapes and sizes begin to come out of the small opening and onto the conveyor belt. Azumi, Kelly, and Genji eventually gathered their luggage and soon made their way to the exit. Azumi looks down at the guitar case in Genji's, then her own guitar case in her hand, then back to Genji's. She looks up at Genji as he takes notice of her.
"Something on your mind?" Genji asked.
"Out of curiosity, What did you name your weapon?" Azumi asked.
"Just to humor you, I named my guitar All For One," Genji answered with a smirk.
"Well you better hope you don't become a villain, otherwise I'll come after you," Azumi said with a chuckle.
"Very funny," Genji said with an amused eye roll.
"Getting through security with our weapons was a bitch to handle. Not fun doing paperwork and getting clearance," Kelly said.
"Tell me about it," Genji said.
Azumi, Genji, and Kelly all stepped out of the building as they saw a man holding up a sign that read 'Fukushima' standing in front of a car.
"That must be our ride," Kelly said.
The three approached the driver and his car as the driver looked over to them.
"Are you the Fukushima party?" the driver asked.
"Yes, that's us," Azumi answered as she pulled out her driver's license and showed it to the driver.
The driver looked at the card for a moment before going to his car and popped the trunk. Azumi, Kelly, and Genji all loaded their bags into the trunk, before they all stepped inside the back seat of the car. The driver got into his car, and then drove away with his passengers.
Back inside the building near the baggage claim, a boy went up to another one of the conveyor belts to retrieve his luggage. That boy was Yasu Hanako. He was wearing brown t-shirt, a pair of light-blue jeans, and a pair of brown sneakers. As Yasu was looking around waiting for his luggage, he looked around thinking about his friends back in Mistral.
"Hope the others back in Kuchinashi will do fine while I see my family," Yasu said to himself.
Route 14
Later going down Route 14, Azumi, Kelly, and Genji were sitting inside the car in the middle of traffic. They were barely moving along with the other cars around them.
"I didn't expect traffic to be heavy today," Genji said.
"Yeah, what's going on here?" Kelly asked.
"Maybe an accident? Or road construction?" Azumi suggested.
"Who knows? This better not take too much of our time," Genji said.
They soon heard the sounds of sirens in the distances ahead of the traffic.
"Sounds like something serious is going on if I hear sirens," Azumi said.
Suddenly the sounds of gunshots were heard in the distance at where the sirens were being heard. the driver and the three passengers were startled by the sudden sounds of gunshots.
"Definitely serious," Kelly said.
"Pop the trunk," Azumi ordered the driver, before turning her head to Genji and Kelly "Wait here."
She quickly stepped out of the car and raced over to the trunk as it popped open. Azumi lifted the trunk open and pulled out her guitar case, before closing it and then ran off into a nearby alleyway. She sets the case onto the ground behind a dumpster as she knelt down. Azumi then opens the case as she smirks upon looking at her guitar, One For All, and on top of it was her superhero costume all folded up with her mask laying on top.
Juroku Bank Tokyo Branch
Just a couple blocks away, several Tokyo police officers were in a shootout with a group of armed gunmen that were taking cover on the first floor of the Juroku Bank. Huddled into a corner onto the floor of the room the gunmen were in was several scared hostages.
"Hurry it up in there with that money!" one of the gunmen yelled out behind him.
"We need to get out of here before more of the cops arrive!" another gunman added.
Just then, two men came out each carrying a large duffle bag filled with money.
"We're ready to go now!" one of the two men informed.
"We'll need to take a couple hostages with us so the cops don't follow us!" the other man said.
"Good idea," one of the gunners said.
One of the gunners approaches the hostages and just as he was about to reach over to them, the wall next to him bursts open, knocking him to the floor. Everyone turned their attention to see the hole in the wall as a figure slowly stepped through.
"It's alright now! Do you know why?" a voice called out.
It was Azumi under her alias, Sonic String.
"Because I am here!"
The gunmen were startled to see the costumed hero, while the hostages looked on with some slight relief.
"Oh crap. She's back!" one of the gunmen said.
"That's right! And I've got some new skills that I'm itching to try out!" Sonic String said.
The gunmen start shooting at Sonic String as she twirled One for all in front of her deflecting the bullets away. She then charged over towards one of the gunmen and swung her guitar at his head, knocking him to the ground. Another gunman ran up behind Sonic String and was about to shoot at her, but she quickly turned around to face him as she transformed her guitar into her bow. She shot a blast of ice at the gun, encasing it in ice. The gunman looked down at his frozen gun for a moment before looking up and was met with a kick to the face by Sonic String knocking him out.
The two men with the duffle bags both looked at each other for a moment looking back at Sonic String as she swung her bow at another one of the gunmen. They dropped their bags and each pulled out their weapons. One pulled out a nunchaku and the other a pair of sais.
Sonic String kicks another gunman in the stomach before swinging One For All at his head, knocking him to the ground. She turns around to see the man with the nunchaku and the man with the sais rush at her. She transformed One For All back into its guitar form as the man with the nunchaku swung his weapon at Sonic String as she weaved away from the attack. The man with the sais approached and swung his weapons wildly at her as she parried away his attacks while backing away from the two men. She swung her guitar and struck them both, knocking them to the ground. The two men quickly got up as the costumed hero noticed a brief flickering glow coming off of their bodies. She then realized what that could mean.
"These two have Aura, huh? Then I'll have to wear them down," Sonic String thought.
The two men rushed at Sonic String again as she got into a stance as a hard light axe blade projected out. She twirled One For All around as she swung it at the two men as they tried parrying away her attacks. She kicks the man with the sais in the stomach, then follows it up with a headbutt to the man with the nunchaku. Sonic String swung her weapon at the men's legs, making them fall to the ground. The man with the nunchaku got up and swung his nunchaku wildly at Sonic String as she dodged and deflected away his attacks. She points her guitar at the man and plays a chord as a blast of lightning shot out and struck the man, electrocuting him and knocking him back to the ground.
The man with the sais soon got up as was about to charge in at Sonic String again, but the superheroine shot a blast of fire at the man's chest knocking him back next to his partner. The two men got back up as their Aura flickered.
"Sonic BOOM!" Sonic String unleashes her semblance on the two men as they were sent flying back and crashed into a wall, finally knocking them unconscious and depleting their Aura.
The hostages soon got up and cheered for the costumed heroine as she gave them a cheerful wave. She then approached the front entrance and slowly stepped out and waved to the police officers outside.
"It's safe now! They're all yours!" Sonic String called out to them.
The officers approached the entrance and passed her as they came inside the bank to detain the gunmen. One of the officers approached Sonic String. She recognized that officer to be her father, Daisuke Fukushima.
"Azumi," he greeted.
"Hey, dad," Azumi said as she hugged her father.
"I knew you would show up at some point when you said you would arrive today. So they decided to come here in case you come here," Daisuke said, gesturing towards the other side of the street.
Sonic String turned her head to the other side of the street to see her mother, Yua Fukushima, and her little brother, Haru Fukushima waving and calling out to her.
"Mom! Haru!" Sonic String ran over to her mother and brother and hugged them both with her father following behind her.
"It's so good to see you again, Azumi," Yua said.
"It's good to be back, mom," Sonic String replied.
"You were awesome out there, Azumi!" Haru exclaimed.
"Thanks, Haru," Azumi said.
Just then, the UBER car drove up as Kelly and Genji stepped out and approached the Fukushimas.
"Kelly!" Yua and Daisuke greeted their niece.
"Hi, Aunt Yua. Hi, Uncle Daisuke," Kelly said as the three hugged each other.
"Kelly!" Haru exclaimed as he ran up to her and hugged on her legs.
"Hi, Haru!" Kelly said as he knelt down and hugged her cousin. "How's my favorite little cousin been doing?"
"Great, Kelly!" Haru replied.
Daisuke and Yua smiled at the interaction before they turned their attention to Genji.
"Greetings, Mr. and Mrs. Fukushima," Genji said with a bow.
"How are things back in Mistal?" Yua asked.
"It was pretty good," Genji replied.
"That's good. especially since he's far away from Azumi and won't try to do anything to her," Daisuke thought.
"We can take your luggage back into my car and drive you two back if you want," Yua said to Sonic String and Kelly.
"Sure that would be great," Sonic String replied.
She and Kelly then ran over to the car to gather their luggage.
