Rabbit Revolution.
Two weeks had passed since the Freedom Fighters adventure in the Spring Yard Zone, and so far, Sally had been trying to decipher the rest of the Excavation sites Robotnik was searching for the Chaos Emeralds in, along with the Freedom Fighters research and development department, the Brain trust.
"Alright, what have we got so far?" Asked Sally.
"We've collected the rest of the extraction site from Nicole's files." Said Rotor as he pulled up a map, the rest of the Locations are as follows, Bridge Zone, Jungle Zone and Labyrinth Zone, the data doesn't say where the last two sites are."
"Who's to say Robotnik doesn't even know about them." Added Porker. "The last two Emerald locations, I mean."
"They could be anywhere." Added Tails, the youngest of the Brain Trust. "Evan the Westside."
"Of course." Said Sally. "For now, we'll just focus on the three sites we've identified so far, anyway, How goes the De-Roboticizer Project?"
"Not too good Princess." Said Porker, shaking his head. "We still lack the necessary software for the original Roboticizer, even with all the parts we've gathered over the years."
Sally sighed. "Sonic is gonna love that."
Meanwhile,
Sonic was in a melancholy mood, he sat on a log, overlooking the great lake, Johnny walked up next to him.
"Still brooding about what happened in the Spring Yard?" He asked.
"He was back Johnny." Said Sonic. "I thought I could bring him back…"
"Sally's working on the De-Roboticizer as we speak." Said Johnny. "We'll bring him back."
"Yeah." Said Sonic as he got up. "One day, now if you excuse me, I need to run."
He stood at the edge of the great lake of rings just as a glow began to emanate from the surface below, with a splash and a flash, and before them appeared a Golden Ring, Sonic collected it and zoomed out of the Village, he traveled through the Great Forest and out to the Green Hill Zone.
Meanwhile,
Robotnik slammed a fist on his table as he ranted at the Search and Destroy Squad.
"You've had one job!" He bellowed. "ONE! JOB! And so far that mandate has been lost!"
Sleet and Scratch cowered as Robotnik yelled, while Grounder and Dingo quietly slunk away to get something.
"Is it so hard to ask, to capture A Simple Super Fast GOD DAMN HEDGEHOG?!" Robotnik roared.
"We must ask for your most humblest apologies Dr. Robotnik." Said Sleet. "But rest assured, Our efforts continue and we've been working hard to find new leads on the Freedom Fighters."
"It's been two weeks!" Robotnik exclaimed. "And you still haven't found them again! Not in the past two weeks!"
Robotnik ranted on as Grounder and Dingo led a Familiar Hedgehog Robian into the room.
"And the only thing you have to show for your incompetence and laziness is!..." Robotnik eye's eyes then landed on the Robian and widened in surprise. "Sir Charles?"
"We've been interrogating him." Explained Sleet. "We believe he was helping the Freedom Fighters in the Spring Yard."
Robotnik looked closely at Chuck, before turning to Sleet with a confident look. "Ha! Helping them? Oh don't be a fool, Robians don't have free will, they're pre-programed to serve me and me alone!"
He knocked on Chuck mockingly. "Especially this one."
"Are you sure?" Asked Grounder. "Because I think we saw Sonic being very close with him."
Robotnik chuckled. "He should, actually, this just reminded me of something that has me in a good mood, come!"
He led them down a hallway, where they found a room full of assembly lines, constructing Robotocizers on wheels, that were then hooked up to a Spikes each, all overseen by Snively.
"Yes, Boss." Asked Dingo. "What is all this?"
"It is finally ready." Said Robotnik proudly. "After many years, Robotcization is now mass produced! With these portable Roboticizers, we can now spread the Robotcization process, throughout the lands, and not just here in Robotropolis! Is the first shipment ready, Snively?"
"All set Sir." Snively sneered gleefully. "Which area do we deploy the first Batch in?"
"Somewhere in the Southern areas of the continent I think." Robotnik said, stroking his mustache. "There are a few deadbeats in the area who owe me taxes."
Meanwhile,
Sonic stopped on a ledge and surveyed the Zone, He had reached the southernmost areas of the Continent, right after Green Hill Zone.
"Hey Sonic!"
The Hedgehog turned back to see Johnny, Antione and another Walrus, Joe Sushi, desperately catching up with him.
"What took you guys so long?" Asked Sonic, tapping his foot.
"Sorry for not being… as fastity fast… as you…" Antione grumbled, as he caught his breath.
"Sally needs you back." Said Johnny. "We just got word about something big."
"Oh yeah?" Asked Sonic. "What? Another Chaos Emerald?"
Before Johnny could say more, a large explosion could be heard, they all turned around and saw smoke coming from over a hill.
"What was that?" Asked Joe.
They rushed to see what was happening, and saw to their horror, a farmland being rampaged by Badniks, Buzz Bombers flew overhead, Moto Bugs and Catakillers ravaged the gardens and SWATBots occupied the area as they dragged out a yellow female rabbit in a pink leotard.
"Let me go! LET ME GO!" She struggled in their grip. "Ye Gaia dawned contraptions!"
"Bunnie Rabow." Said one of the SWATBots. "You are guilty of Tax evasion by our esteemed overlord, Dr. Robotnik! And therefore will be Roboticized!"
A Portable Roboticizer wheeled into ew and sparked to life.
"No… No! HELP!" The Rabbit cried as she was dragged towards it.
Sonic's eyes widened in horror, watching as the poor Rabbit was placed inside the tube.
"Portable Roboticizer?" He asked aloud.
"Sonic, there's nothing we can do." Said Joe, grabbing his shoulder. "We have to go!"
"NO!" Sonic shouted as he sped forward. "Not this time!"
He curled into a ball and smashed through several Moto Bugs before launching upwards and landed on the back of a Buzz Bomber, making it shoot at other Buzz Bombers before crashing it into a SWATBot.
"Priority One! Hedgehog!" The SWATBots exclaimed as they fired upon him, Sonic dodged their blasts, while Johnny, Antione and Joe joined the fight, dispatching the Catakillers and the remaining Moto Bugs, just as the Rabbit was shoved into the tube and a SWATBot through the switch.
Sparks of green and yellow filled the Chamber as the Rabbit desperately banged and kicked against the glass, her flesh slowly converting into metal! Sonic saw this and quickly pulled out the Power Ring, and held it up, It glows with a bright energy and it coursed through Sonic's body supercharging with kinetic golden energy, he curled into a ball and spin dashed smashing right through the Machine and causing it to explode! He landed on the other side, with the Rabbit still in his arms, as they finished up the Badniks, Johnny and the others hurried over to Sonic.
"Sonic!" Johnny cried. "Are you alright?! What did you…"
He stopped suddenly as Sonic laid the girl gently down, their faces were masks of horror as they stared down.
"Deer Gaia…" Antione let out.
Meanwhile,
Sally tapped her foot as she waited, Rotor, Tails and Seargent Doberman stood off to the side.
"What could possibly be taking them so long?" Sally asked aloud. "I swear, of all the times for Sonic to take a joyride."
"He's still reeling from the Spring Yard Business." Said Rotor. "Gve em time."
"Time's something we don't have, Walrus." Snarled Doberman. "Robotnik's new initiative is on the move as we speak and we NEED all hands on deck for this!"
"Look! They're back!" Said Tails pointing.
They all turned and saw Sonic, Johnny, Antoine and Joe entering Knothole, with the latter Johnny and Former Antione carrying something between them.
Sally came up. "Sonic, where have… wait, what is…"
Sally gasped, Tails, Rotor and Doberman gaped in shock.
It was the young Rabbit they had saved, her legs and left arm, which were once flesh and blood were now, replaced with gray, bulky robian varietns of the aforementioned limbs.
"She needs help." Said Sonic. "Now!"
Sally just stared in horror, before quickly coming back to her senses and turning towards Rotor, Tails and Doberman. "Somebody get Dr. Quack, quickly!"
As Rotor hurried off, the young Rabbit began to stir, slowly her eye's opened and she looked up to see the Freedom Fighters looking over her.
"What's… what happened…?" She held up her robotic arm and her eyes widened at the sight as she fully came awake, she screamed! The rest of the village came out and stared in horror at the sight they saw, Some evan screamed, others averted their eyes, all while the young Rabbit flailed about as Sonic and Sally tried to calm her down.
Meanwhile,
Robotnik revaled in the new Progress being made, as he watched from his Command Chair, Snively, Sleet, Dingo, Scratch and Grounder stood behind him, watching as the Portable Roboticizers were deployed all over the Continent.
"Hmm, Hmm, Hmm, This is all the more better than I hoped, Snively." Robotnik chuckled. "More Slaves, More Metal, it's a dark fantasy come to life!"
"Oh very much so Sir." Snively agreed.
"And best of all." Robotnik added. "It doesn't matter if the Freedom Fighters get involved, I can always make more." He cackled as Uncle Chuck walked in, with a steamed mug that Robotnik quickly took for himself and sipped.
"But who's to oversee the Process?" Asked Sleet. "Surely, If the Hedgehog and his friends try to stop the Portable Roboticizers, then what Badnik Commander would be there to stop them?"
"Not that they could." Said Scratch. "Considering they're busy finding those Chaos Emeralds right now."
"I've accounted for that." Said Robotnik as he turned to face them. "And you'll all be pleased to know that I've almost completed a personal project of mine, If you'll follow me."
He climbed out of his chair and strode down a hall as the others followed, they entered a room where they found Coconuts mopping the floor.
"Oh! Dr. Robotnik!" He exclaimed. "You need more for something boss? You want me to-!"
Robotnik quickly swatted the simian out of the way and pulled out a remote. "Gentlemen, I present to you…"
The Lights then revealed a large, golden robot! Adorned in a red cape.
"Project Brutus!" Robotnik declared. "The most powerful Badnik Commander of my own design!"
The Search and Destroy Squad were stunned.
"Er… Most impressive… Sir." Sleet said uneasily.
"Yeah, A true roman warrior." Said Grounder.
"What's a roman?" Asked Dingo.
"I have no Idea." Said Grounder.
"There's just one last ingredient required." Said Robotnik as he placed a wired helmet on top of Brutas head and placed another on himself. "My own brian patterns."
"You… sure that's wise sir?" Asked Snively.
"Of course it is Snively!" Robotnik snapped. "He can't be my best Badnik Commander if he doesn't think like the best!"
"Of course." Snively sighed, as he walked over to a switch. "Beginning process now Sir."
And he pulled the lever, Sparks of Electricity filled Brutas every being as the current traveled from Robotnik's brain into the circuit boards of his newest weapon.
"Live Brutus!" Robotnik declared. "LIVE!"
Beneath the Helmet, a pair of yellow eyes sparked to life. "I… I'm… Alive!"
Meanwhile,
Sonic, Tails, Sally, Rotor, Antione, Johnny, Doberman and Rosie entered the room as Dr. Horatio Quack finished his examination on the Rabbit.
"Well Doc?" Asked Sonic.
"She's stable and healthy" Said Dr. Quack. "But still shaken up, her new limbs may also take some time for her to get used too, so she'll have to use a wheelchair until she gets… adjusted."
Sally came closer to the young rabbit's bedside. "What's your name?" She asked.
"B…B… Bunnie…" Came the weak reply.
"Alright." Said Sally, standing back up. "Get some rest Bunnie, we'll be here if you need us."
And they left the room, except for Roise, who stayed behind to care for Bunnie, As she laid in her bed, staring at the ceiling with tears in her eyes.
Later.
The Freedom Fighters gathered together in the war room, Sally, Sonic, Rotor, Antione, Tails, Johnny, Porker and others stood around the war table as Nicole displayed the images.
"We now know that Robotnik is sending out his Portable Roboticizers across the continent." Said Sally. "And he'll probably be expecting us to try and stop it."
"But the Portables will be widespread by now." Said Rotor. "To take them all out at once would be time consuming!"
"Who needs time when we got speed?" Asked Sonic.
"Until we have more intel on these Portable Roboticizers." Said Sally. "We will focus on the ones deployed between the Great Forest, and Robotropolis."
"What's the nearest settlement in that vicinity?" Asked Sonic.
"Pleasant town." Said Porker.
"You think a Roboticizer has been sent there?" Asked Rotor.
"If there is." Said Sonic. "We stop it."
As the Freedom Fighters continued to discuss their plans, Tails quietly left the room, and headed outside.
Later on,
Just beyond the Great Forest, was the village of Pleasant Town, and it was just as the name implied.
Then suddenly, Badniks arrived, The People panicked as Moto Bugs zoomed through the streets, Buzz Bombers and Hovor Pods swooped in from above, and SWATBots marched in with a portable Roboticizer.
"By order of Dr. Robotnik." Declared the lead SWATBot. "All tax evaders are to be Roboticized, Submit and comply!"
People were dragged out of their homes and lined up, each one prepared to be Roboticized, then suddenly, most of them prepared for the worst, but then, A flash of Blue appeared.
"Anyone holding a parade?" Sonic asked, as the Badniks set their sights on him.
"Priority One, Hedgehog!" The SWATBots droned as they fired at him, The Hedgehog dodge out of the way and launched himself at the SWATBots, smashing them, By this point, Sally and other Freedom Fighters, Rotor, Antione, Johnny, Porker, Chirps and Joe arrived on the scene.
"Freedom Fighters!" Declared Sally. "Attack!"
Johnny swung his staff at the Moto Bugs, smashing them, Joe did the same, Rotor and Porker shot at the Buzz Bombers as they flew overhead, while Sally, Antione and Chirps hurried over to the line of people and quickly dispatched the guards.
"Go! Run now!" Said Sally.
And the Townsfolk did just that, once that was done, Sonic set his eye's on the Portable Roboticizer.
"No one from this village is going to be Robuttniks footstool." He said to himself.
He charged up a spin dash and shot forward,only for a large, gold figure to swat him back, Sonic looked up to see a tall, golden Robot, with a red cape standing between him and the Roboticizer.
"Where did you come from?" Sonic asked. "A gritty comic book?"
"I am Brutus!" Declared the Commander. "Supreme commander of all the Badnik Hordes!"
"A New Badnik Commander?" Sally gasped.
"Must be the latest model." Rotor whispered.
"Okay." Said Sonic as he got up. "That sounds impressive, But I've faced tougher Commanders before, and they were just Ubers!"
"Then you've never faced the likes of me before." Brutus sneered.
"Throw your best shot Bucket-head!" Sonic leapt forward to spin attack him.
"Will this do?" Brutas smacked Sonic away again, knocking to the ground once more.
"Sonic!" Sally cried.
Sonic got up and rubbed his head. "Jesus, he's really tougher than most."
Brutus lumbered forward and tried to crush Sonic with his foot, but the Hedgehog dodged out of the way, Sally flipped out Nicole as she and the rest of the Freedom Fighters watched. "Nicole! Get a scan on the aloy this Brutas guy is made of!"
"Processing variable now." Nicole processed. "Metal Origin, unknown, mineral, unknown."
"What?!" Sally exclaimed as Sonic continued to battle Brutas, but to no avail.
"Ha Ha! You see, I am unbeatable!" Brutas declared.
"No Robot is unbeatable!" Sonic said defiantly. "I'll find a way to thrash you!"
"You won't get the chance this time Sonic!" Brutas cackled as more Badniks filed in. "Finish them!"
And the SWATBots opened fire.
Meanwhile,
Back in Knothole, Tails was looking around, trying to find someone, when he overheard a few other Freedom Fighters talking.
"Can you believe it!" Said the Porcupine Dylan. "She's part Robian, Who's ever heard of that!"
"Just avoid her at all costs!" Said Hamlin the pig. "She could be a spy for Robotnik! It's not natural!"
Tails frowned at this, walked over to the nearest cottage and knocked on the door, It opened to reveal Roise.
"Oh Tails, I thought you'd be out with Sonic and the rest." She said.
"I uh… I was hoping to see that Bunnie girl." Said Tails.
"Oh, I see." Said Rosie, looking around. "I suppose one visitor wouldn't hurt."
And let Tails in and he looked around, he saw Bunnie, in a wheelchair, staring out the window miserably, he quietly came up to her.
"H-Hello…" He said.
Bunnie didn't turn around. "If yer wondering if I'm a spy, then screw you."
Tails flinched. "Sorry, I just… felt you were only."
"You'd be too if three quarters of yer limbs were turned into gears and starters." Bunnie scoffed. "You heard they call me "Rabbot" now?"
"Oh that's interesting." Said Tails. "It's like how they call me Tails, you know, because of the Two Tails."
Bunnie said nothing.
"You know." Said Tails. "I don't care if you've got Robot parts, and neither do Sonic and most of the others."
Bunnie managed to turn around. "Thanks… Tails, that means a lot to me."
Before anything more could be said, A Purple Platypus named Penelope burst into the cottage.
"Sonic and the others have been captured!" She cried. "New Badnik Commander!"
"What?! No!" Cried Tails.
"Oh merciful Gaia!" Rosie exclaimed. "Robotnik has them now!"
And the mention of Robotnik's name, Bunnie suddenly began to stand up, her new limbs trembled at first, but with great tenacity, she managed to stay up right.
"The Hell he does." She snarled, and then she bolted out of the room, shoving past Penelope and running up towards Hamlin and Dylan.
"Hey!" She grabbed Hamlin by his jacket. "Which way to Pleasant Town?"
Hamlin, completely unsure what to say, simply pointed east and Bunnie took off with Tails following close behind, with Rosie watching on, as Dr. Quack walked up.
"Wow… I… did not expect her to get adjusted this fast!" Said Quack, as Rosie looked at him with a look that said "What?!"
Meanwhile,
Brutus laughed as the Freedom Fighters were all marched before him, all feted in chains.
"Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!" Brutus cackled. "I have defeated Sonic the Hedgehog! Behold this people, These Freedom Fighters were no match for me, So what chance do you people have?!"
There was a murmuring from the crowd.
"He's right."
"We might as well volunteer being Robians."
"The Freedom Fighters have lost!"
"Hey! Don't write us off yet people!" Said Sonic.
"Brave words Rodent." Brutus sneered. "But even you know you're beat!"
"He's right, Sonic." Sally said sadly. "We've lost…"
"THE HELL YOU HAVE!"
All eyes suddenly turned to see Bunnie standing at the town entrance, with Tails behind her.
"Bunnie?!" Exclaimed Sonic and Sally together.
"What is this?!" Brutus exclaimed. "What form of Abomination are you?!"
You can call me Bunnie sugah." Said Bunnie. "And yer gonna be callin me your worst nightmare.
"Ha!" Brutas laughed. "Nightmare?! You?! Sonic the Hedgehog could not defeat me! What hope do you have? Cyborg?!"
"That's "Rabbot" to you, goldenrod." Bunnie snarled, A Moto Bug charged towards her and she kicked it away.
Brutus motioned to the rest of the Badniks and motioned them to attack Bunnie, SWATBots, Moto Bugs and Buzz Bombers swarmed around her as she took a stance.
"Bring it on."
Bunnie kicked out at more Moto Bugs and grabbed one with his metallic arm, throwing it at a Buzz Bomber. A SWATBot tried to grab her, but she just punched through it and proceeded to punch and kick through more SWATBots, before Axe kicking a Moto Bug.
"Wow, sweet Karate." Said Johnny.
Brutus was infuriated. "You can destroy as many Badniks as you can, but you're not tough enough to defeat me!"
"Wanna bet?" Asked Bunnie.
Brutas began to fly up, propelled by the Rockets in his boots as he flew towards Bunnie, who simply hopped over him, Brutas tried to attack again, only for Bunnie to kick him in the chest.
"Impossible!" Brutas beheld the dent in his armor. "Sonic couldn't chink my armor!"
As Bunnie and Brutas fought, Tails quickly hurried to the others and released them from their shackles.
"Alright little buddy!" Said Sonic. "Now let's kick this tin plated…"
Sally caught his shoulder. "Leave Brutas to Bunnie Sonic." She said, "We'll handle the Roboticizer."
Rotor quickly hurried over to the Portable Roboticizer and shut it down with a switch, then Sonic, Tails, Antione and Johnny simultaneously destroyed it, this immediately caught Brutas attention!
"What?! No!" Brutus cried.
"Made you look!" Said Bunnie as she jumped up and kicked his arm, obliterating it!
"Aarrhh!" Brutus cried out in pain as he staggered back to one knee and glared hatefully at the Freedom Fighters. "This… isn't over… Freedom Fighters!"
And he quickly flew away, taking the remaining Badniks with him, the Freedom Fighters gathered around Bunnie.
"Wow, Bunnie." Said Sonic. "That was amazing!"
"You really saved us back there." Said Porker.
"Yeah, Yer Welcome." Said Bunnie. "You guys saved mah life anyways."
"Your bravery is well earned Bunnie." Said Sally. "Will you join us?"
"Why wouldn't I?" Asked Bunnie. "I'm half Robot thanks to that fat jerk Robotnik, so don't call me late when it's time to make him pay."
"Welcome aboard than Bunnie." Said Sonic, patting her shoulder. "You're gonna make a great Freedom Fighter!"
Meanwhile,
When Robotnik heard of this, he was not happy.
"Unbelievable!" He exclaimed, pacing around the room as Brutus was repaired. "I was close to finally defeating those pesky Freedom Fighters, and THIS happens?!"
"You were close?" Asked Brutus. "I defeated Sonic the Hedgehog!"
"Don't talk back to me! Commander!" Robotnik sneered. "I programmed you with my brain patterns, Ergo, I was close and you failed!"
"Sound logic, Sir." Snively deadpanned, rolling his eyes.
"So…" Robotnik sighed, as he turned to Sleet and his gang. "It seems the four of you still have a reason for me to keep you around."
Coconuts raised his hand.
"Ugh, and him too!" Robotnik groaned.
"Yes!" Coconuts cheered.
"Anyways, other than that." Robotnik said, becoming a bit more cheerful. "Our Portable Roboticizers have proved to be a success."
He stood over a railing and watched as more Robians came in. "We now have more manual laborers than we know what to do with, with that, comes more expansion! And more opportunities to crush those Freedom Fighters once and for all! So savor your latest victory, Sonic the Hedgehog, because in the end, Dr. Julian Robotnik's word is law!"
And he let out a maniacal laugh that echoed across the room, as Brutus' eyes narrowed in envy.
