Regret

What if Clementine went with Bonnie, Mike and Arvo? Prompt Submitted by kiquedelic on Tumblr

Requests On Hold

It'd been less than a week after Clementine had snuck into the half-finished house for AJ and the keys for the truck. It'd been less than a week and she was already regretting it. Mike reminded her of Lee, he made sure that she and AJ were warm and kept alive. Bonnie spent most of her time asleep, Mike found that some of the medicine in the bag was missing, telling Clementine he thought Bonnie had taken them.

Then there was Arvo.

Clementine could feel him glaring at her, but he wouldn't do anything when Mike was nearby.

"You okay, Clem?" Mike got her attention, "AJ okay?"

"Y-yeah." Nodded Clementine, before noticing that Mike was looking into the back of the truck.

"We're gonna have to find some gas soon." Said Mike, as Clementine looked at the dash and saw the gas tank was full, "We're almost out."

Bonnie didn't respond, grumbling, while Arvo glared at the back of Clementine's seat. Rolling his eyes, Mike stopped the truck, "C'mon Clem."

Clementine followed after Mike, carefully adjusting AJ. Mike led her into a group of cars, making sure Arvo and Bonnie hadn't followed them, "Okay, we made a big ass mistake."

"I thought it was just me." Muttered Clementine, getting a sigh from Mike.

"Hopefully, Kenny and Jane aren't far." Said Mike, "And they won't—"

There was a gunshot and Clementine suddenly lurched forwards, almost dropping AJ. Mike steadied her, before looking over at where the gunshot came from. Arvo aimed at Clementine again, prompting Mike to pick her and AJ up and run to cover, with Clementine losing consciousness as more shots rang out.

Clementine woke up in an RV, it was travelling along a dark road, and she was leaning against something.

"You okay, Clem?" Asked Lee, looking down at her.

"Lee?" Clementine blinked; she looked around. Ben was sitting in the back of the RV, and she could see Katjaa and Duck up in the front, "Why did Lilly do that to Carley?"

"She was upset." Answered Lee, sounding tired.

"But, I get upset and I don't hurt people."

"Everyone's different Clem." Responded Lee, as Clementine looked at Duck.

"Duck's bit." Clementine's voice was hollow.

"We're keeping an eye on him, see how it turns out." Said Lee, "For all we know, it could be like the flu."

"It's not." Said Clementine, shaking her head, she'd seen Sandra's bite on her wrist, "Is Kenny going to be okay?"

"I don't know, Clem." Answered Lee, honestly, "But, we'll be there for him, he's a good guy."

Clementine hummed, feeling sleep pull at her. She wanted to say sorry for calling Duck a baby.

"Get some sleep, Clem." Said Lee, as it claimed her.

Mike made sure the rest stop he'd stopped in with Clementine and AJ was secure, before looking at the girl. The shot had gone straight through her shoulder, missing AJ's head by inches. Sighing, Mike looked at his gun, checking how many shots he had.

He didn't have enough to prevent them from turning if it came to it. Sighing again, Mike looked up, "Well, God, if you actually exist, we could use a fucking miracle."

He heard the door swing open, prompting him to spin around and aim at whatever had come through the door, only for Kenny to punch him hard in the face.

"You son of a bitch!" Snarled Kenny, "Where are they?!"

"Kenny!" Snapped Jane, a moment later, "Look."

Kenny looked up from Mike and spotted an unconscious Clementine and a sleeping AJ.

"We said we'd come back for you." Said Mike, "We were gonna get the supplies from Howes and come back."

Kenny glared at the man, before rushing over to Clementine, "What the fuck did you do to her?!"

"Arvo shot her." Groaned Mike, getting up, "Bonnie decided to get high, and we left her and Arvo in the truck. He shot her in the shoulder."

Kenny growled, as Clementine slowly woke up, "Clem?"

"Kenny?" Clementine slowly blinked, "…am I dead?"

"No, no you're not." Sighed Kenny, checked her shoulder, "Mike said you were going to get the supplies from Howes."

"AJ needed them." Mumbled Clementine, "You said chilli wasn't good for him."

Kenny let out a sigh, "You shoulda told us, you scared the livin' shit outta me."

"'m sorry, Kenny." Murmured Clementine, as she lost consciousness again.

"Ya see anything, Clem?" Asked Kenny, as Clementine looked towards Howe's, "Any Walkers still there?"

"A couple." Answered Clementine, "But they're going away."

"What about Bonnie and Arvo?" Asked Mike, as Clementine continued to look around.

"I can't see— wait," Clementine, saw the truck, "The truck's here."

"Which means they could be here as well." Muttered Jane, as Clementine started looking at the roof.

"Found them." Reported Clementine, "Arvo's pushing Bonnie—, Bonnie's dead."

"What?" Mike unfolded his arms and stared at Clementine.

"Arvo pushed her off the roof." Repeated Clementine, "He's—"

Kenny fired at Arvo, hitting him the back of the neck, and waking AJ.

"—dead." Finished Clementine, "Arvo's dead."

"Well," Grunted Kenny, as Jane tried to shush the baby, before Clementine took him, "that solves that problem."

"Yeah." Sighed Mike, as they walked towards Howes.

"The sooner we get those supplies, the sooner we can leave a get to Wellington." Said Kenny, as Clementine caught up with him.

"I just wanna get my gun back." Said Clementine, "I left it in the truck."

Kenny let out a snort, Clementine might act older than she was, but she still had that little girl that hoped to find the best in people and help them. He supposed that was why she went with Mike and the other two, they phrased it as a supply run and she wanted to get some food for AJ as soon as possible.

And she got a gunshot to the shoulder for her trouble. Sooner than they expected, they'd divided up the supplies, Jane and Mike were staying at Howe's, saying something about the place being safer than the road.

"Ready, Clem?" Asked Kenny, looking down at the girl.

After adjusting AJ, and checking for her gun, Clementine nodded. The truck pulled off, leaving Howe's, and Mike and Jane, behind.
