Theory#14: Gunvolt's escape was known, but Asimov's wasn't.
Sumeragi covered up all known traces of the S-FIT incident, even to its employees. The only people in Sumeragi that know of the event are the delegates and the people at S-FIT during that time. Nobody knew that Asimov was Takefutsu when he broke in to rescue GV.
He was in trouble, his assistant was in trouble. Not just them, but Sumeragi, possibly even the whole world. That day, the test subject of Project Gunvolt known as Takefutsu had escaped. He was the only known successful test subject to obtain the Azure Striker Septima without sustaining injuries or dying.
And now, he escaped, able to cause as much unwarranted and uncontrolled destruction as he pleased. The leader of Project Gunvolt and his assistant were currently in a meeting with Sumeragi's executives.
"The press will be uncovering this problem within minutes. It would be a disaster if it was to be released to the public." the red tie executive warned.
"As of now, your activities are being looked into. Illegal experimentation, kidnapping, artificially created test subjects, genetic samples used to create these false individuals, it's madness. Unfortunately, we can't risk letting you go, NDA's aren't exactly a secure method of silencing." the purple tie executive noted.
"He attacked first, but clearly none of you know that." Dr. Kamizono denied.
"We know enough to send you to prison, a mental health institution or both." the blue tie delegate warned.
"He would never do such a thing. His first priority is always the safety and wellbeing of the test subje- I mean tester." the assistant rebuked.
"It appears that in trying to hide the truth, you ended up showing it. Very well, Dr. Kamizono, you will be assigned to a new team. As for your assistant here, his position will remain the same." the purple tie delegate informed.
That day, Dr. Kamizono went home, angered and devastated. He didn't tell anyone what had happened that day, for fear of causing panic. Whatever happened to one family member was the entire family's business so it seemed. And that was something he did not want getting out.
After the fight with the tiresome troll, Gunvolt went back to Quill headquarters.
"I'm glad he thinks Asimov's dead, at least he can't tell the truth about that." Moniqa smiled.
"He leaked Sumeragi experiment footage, can we check if mine's on there?" Gunvolt questioned.
"Sure, let's see- wh-what is this? Asimov, is this you?" Moniqa panicked.
Asimov turned to look at the screen, to see his younger self in fear. Zeno and Xiao were present as well, watching "Takefutsu" break chains the same way Gunvolt did when he freed himself from Romeo's hideout.
"Hey, why does that guy look like an older version of Copen?" Zeno commented as he pointed to the scientist onscreen.
"That's basically what he is." Asimov admitted.
"Wait, Nova said something about Copen's father back at Firmament. That he built the foundation for Adept controlling tech. Is that one of his techniques?" Gunvolt theorized.
"I went through the same thing you did, but at the hands of someone else. Dr. Kamizono knew far more than the people that tortured you. He saw Adepts as monsters, but he's dead now. We don't have to worry anymore, Sumeragi will take those down. It's best we get some rest and let them handle this, I'm turning in early for the night. Feel free to do the same." Asimov answered.
Gunvolt couldn't help but look at his employer with both admiration and pity. Everyone was in shock, nobody could look away from the screen. The scary thing was, what Sumeragi said was a lie. The facility didn't go up in flames, everything stayed the same.
Meaning that the person responsible for Asimov's suffering and torment could still be out there somewhere. This would give Copen a dangerous edge in fights. Personal experience with Adepts, an in depth knowledge of Septima and Septimosome workings, Septima sealing tech, this was not an enemy that would be easy to deal with.
Kirin was looking through old files from Sumeragi.
"'In the near future, Adepts will wipe out humanity'. According to Sumeragi's files, the lead researcher on the Septima Research Project apparently said this decades ago." Kirin noticed.
Gunvolt's eyes rapidly opened as he awoke from a nap. This was something he didn't want Kirin getting in trouble with, so he knew he had to warn her.
"You said you fought Copen, and that he turned himself into a cyborg, right?" Gunvolt remembered.
"Huh, yeah, what about it?" Kirin wondered as she took a chocolate pocky stick from the box in her right hand and placed it biscuit part first between her teeth.
"His father is the one who wrote that file. It was based on Asimov's time at S-FIT during the same project I was a part of. That was before me though, but Copen swore to kill all Adepts to avenge him. From what Asimov told me, Dr. Kamizono considered Adepts monsters. Nova said it was thanks to him that Sumeragi became what it is today." Gunvolt elucidated.
"I'm not sure that's something to be grateful for." Kira retorted.
"The one we fought before didn't say anything about him. Why do you think that is?" Kirin queried.
"It was just an alternate version created by Moebius. He didn't have any information to create a realistic version." Gunvolt explained.
"At least we don't have to deal with him." Kirin smiled.
"I wouldn't be so sure. S-FIT didn't actually explode, that was just a lie Sumeragi used to hide the truth from the public. He may have been at S-FIT when you went to unseal me. He may have even seen me while I was sealed away." Gunvolt worried.
If he would be faced, Gunvolt wouldn't have to worry about dealing with Copen at least.
