SAM:

I lead her out of the hospital and down the sidewalk to the diner. It wasn't a far walk from the hospital and it was actually one of the very few sunny days we get.

"Have you lived here all your life?" She asked.

"I have, minus a couple years. When I was getting my masters degree in teaching, I lived in Seattle. You probably realized that the drive is not the best for a daily commute." I said with a smile

"Oh gosh no. You would be so miserable just from the drive alone."

"Where are you from?"

"I currently live in Nashville, TN, but I was born in the Smoky Mountains."

She had a look of pain in her eyes when she talked about home.

"If you every need anything, even if its at 2 am. I am here for you." I looked into her eyes and gave her hand a squeeze. She smiled and nodded at me. We walked the rest of the way in quiet. Just relishing in each others company.

Once we reached the diner, I opened the door for her and lead her to a back corner table. I wanted us to be able to talk in private. Luckily the diner was not yet packed and the rumor mill hasn't started up yet about the new mysterious doctor in town. At least she is unlike the last mysterious doctor we had in this town. I see the waiter start to approach and I immediately recognize her. Its my mother. I groaned internally.

"Sam honey what are doing here and who is this lovely lady?'

"Mom this is Lenox. She is the doctor who came to help Bella. Lenox this is my mother Allison." My mom looked like a kid in a candy store left all alone over night. She has always worried I would be alone in life.

"Hey Mrs. Allison. Its so nice to meet you and I have a feeling you and I are going to become great friends. Because what ever that delicious smell is will have me eating here all the time."

"You are to precious. I will bring you some right over and the whole pot of coffee. You both look dead on your feet. I hope that you walked from the hospital." My mother lightly scolded. I just shock my head at her. I might be a grown adult but she still treated me as if I was still her little boy sometimes.

"Yes mam we did. I would never drive this tired. I've always said driving tired is like driving drunk. Both are dangerous."

"You are a very wise young lady. I see why my Sammy likes you. Well let me grab your food and coffee."

As soon as my mother said that, I couldn't help but to turn red. I looked over at Lenox wondering what she is thinking and I see her trying so hard not to laugh.

"Don't even think about laughing." I warned playfully

"I would never laugh at little Sammy. What kind of person would do that?"

"You will pay for that. It might not be today but just know one day you will pay." I said with a grin on my face.

"I'm looking forward to it." She said with a mischievous grin and slight head bow.

I couldn't help but to smile at her. She had an amazing personality.

"Not trying to get in your business but are you considering renting a house for the duration of your stay here?" I already knew she was but I couldn't let her know that I knew.

"Yeah I am. I have a few leads to check on but nothing solid yet. Maybe if your not busy, you wouldn't mind joining me?"

" I wouldn't mind at all. Actually I know of place that is available to rent and comes fully furnished. I can talk to Sue tonight about it, if you would like?"

"Oh that would be perfect! Thank you." She said with the most beautiful smile on her face.

My mom came back with the coffee and food and we were occupied briefly with the most amazing pot roast. I could hear her moaning in pleasure from it. She already liked my moms cooking and that is another plus.

"What made you go into medicine?"

"I've always been really good at science and being able to help people was another plus."

"Your parents must be proud so proud of you. I know I am and I haven't even known you for that long."

"Thank you! I would like to think they are proud of me. They died when I was young in a car accident."

"I'm sorry to hear that. Were you raised by family after that?"

"Yeah you could say I was. It's very complicated." After that I let it go. If or when she was ready to tell me about her past I would listen but I wasn't going to pry into her life.

"I know you will be busy taking care of Bella and the baby but could I take you out on a proper date one night?" I asked

"I would love that!" She said with a smile that could melt any ones heart.

After that we made small talk and finished our food. My mom refused to let me pay for the meal. I grabbed her hand again after we walked out the diner.

"Here is my number so we can keep in touch if you like." She handed me a business card out of her pocket with her cell phone number on there.

"Thank you. I will text you so you have my number as well."

We made small talk on the way back to the hospital. I walked in the hospital with her.

"Can I take you out on a date Friday night?" I asked.

"I would love that!"

"I will pick you up at 6 and we can head to Port Angles. We can get a supper there if thats okay with you?"

"That sounds perfect! I will let you know where I am staying at."

"Sounds perfect. I'm going to head on home and start grading some homework." I leaned in and gave her a hug bye. I didn't won't our first kiss to be at the hospital.

I headed back out toward the woods and phased. Once I reached my house, I phased out and walked inside. I grabbed my work bag and dug out the assignments I needed to grade. After about a hour, I lay everything down and head on over to Paul's. When I get there I see that I'm the last to arrive. I didn't do it on purpose today.

"Now that we are all here, let us gather around the fire." Old Quil said. Everybody started fixing their plate of food and headed on over to find a seat.

"The legend that I am about to tell has always been something of a myth. A lot of Elders in the past has argued over this but it seems I was right as usual." He paused for a brief moment.

"The legend speaks of an imprint that will come and help the tribe but it will be a great sacrifice to her. She will be able to give Alpha commands and she will help a fellow imprint and wolf with a great illness. The illness has slowly been attacking the imprint and it will cost her her life if nothing is done. There will come a time that the Alpha's mate will have to make a sacrifice for the tribe. The legend is very hazy on what it will be but I believe she may not survive though." All eyes cut to me as he finished that last sentence.

"Sam, you can't prevent this. Fate has already begun and it will come to pass. You have to tell her about the imprint and the legend. It is the only way! "

"Hold up old man. Why does she have to die to save this tribe?" Paul asked.

"I do not know why but I plan on looking into this further. If I have any more information I will pass it along. I'm now going to head home. Good night." With that he got up and left.

I sat there in silence as I felt everyone staring at me. Jacob was the first to speak.

"Sam I promise you we won't let her die! Lenox has done so much for my family and I owe her my life."

After that all the wolves were agreeing with Jacob. I felt so numb at what was told to me to I didn't even realize I left until I stood in front of my door. How could the Sprits take her away from me after I just found her. I couldn't let her die. I would die before she does.
