T30: Journey To The Tofte Forest.
Tofte Woods
Cameron, Mickey, Rocco, Leo, Will and Todd walked through the woods of Tofte, trying to get to the forest, with Will leading the way, having put his flashlight in his backpack earlier this morning when the sun started to come up. They had been up all night traveling, so they were getting pretty tired.
"You think one rest-stop will hurt?" Cameron asked.
"I don't think an hour-stop would?" Will answered.
"Are you really that tired?" Cameron asked.
"We can stop and rest if you want. You guys deserve it." Will said.
"No, it's okay. I'm not the one who's pet is in danger." Rocco said.
"Yeah, but you guys have been keeping me and Todd company...and awake. Which is really important when traveling on foot." Will said.
"I just can't wait 'til we're there." Leo said.
"Me neither." Will said.
"Hey, Will, where exactly is this fox village?" Cameron asked.
"I told you...it's up in the Tofte forest." Will said.
"I know, but where in the forest?" Cameron said.
"I can't tell you that." Will said.
"And why not?" Cameron asked.
"Cause i don't want you giving away Todd's location to my step-Dad and the police if we get caught." Will answered.
"Okay, but why couldn't we have gone into town and had someone drive us up to the forest?" Leo asked.
"Because according to Rocco, my picture is plastered all over Tofte. If we had gone into town, someone would've spotted me and turned us in." Will said.
"Okay, true, but you do know that this is why people invented one of those internet map things, right?" Rocco said.
"Yeah, that's what my step-Dad calls them too." Will said.
"I meant why didn't you just print up directions from the internet?" Rocco said.
"Because i didn't wanna use my computer, okay? Once Scar figured out i was gone, he and his cops could hack into my laptop and find where Todd and i are...or were." Will said.
"Okay, i guess that's a good point." Rocco said.
"Look...it's okay, i know where we're going." Will said.
"But do you know where we are?" Cameron asked.
"Yeah, of course." Will said.
"Let me guess. We're in the Tofte woods in the middle of nowhere and you have no idea where we are." Leo guessed.
"Just...just give me a second." Will said.
"We're lost, aren't we?" Leo asked.
"Uh...uh..." Will stammered.
"That's it, i'm gonna text Brook and ask her to look up the directions to Fox Haven." Said Leo before reaching inside his right shorts pocket to retrieve his cellphone.
"No!" Said Will as he and the others stopped in his tracks, with him turning to face Leo. "We're not recruiting anymore people, now...please put your phone away."
"Fine." Said Leo before withdrowing his hand from his pocket.
"Thank you." Will said. He then turned forward and he and the others resumed walking through the woods.
"Why don't you want me texting anyone?" Leo asked.
"Cause you cannot be drawing attention to us like that. Okay, all Scar has to do is get ahold of a text sent by you and then he'll have the cops trace it to our exact location and it's game over for all of us. Especially Todd." Will said.
"So you don't really know exactly where we are, do you?" Cameron asked.
"I just didn't wanna be overheard. You know, in case the cops have hidden recording devices out here in the woods." Will said.
"Well, maybe in the future, you should be a secret agent." Rocco said.
"You know what, i like that." Will said while smiling as he looked back at the others before looking forward again.
"So how much do we owe you for our help?" Leo asked.
"Not a dime." Will answered.
"Are you sure?" Leo asked.
"I'm positive." Will said.
"Look, Will, we don't want you to feel like you have to depend on you and you alone." Cameron said.
"I got you guys into this whole mess, okay? I don't want you to think that i'm incompetent." Will said.
"We don't think that. Look, just because we're on the run, we don't want you to think that we're helpless. Because we're not." Cameron said.
"So what you're trying to say is we're all incompetent?" Will said.
"Yeah. Equeally. Together." Cameron said.
"(Sighs) Why did i let you guys talk me into letting you come with me and Todd?" Will said.
"So i guess we're going to just keep on walking through these woods until we get tired?" Leo said.
"Or until we reach the forest. Which ever comes first." Will said.
"Well, it's my turn to lead the way." Cameron said.
"What?" Will asked as he looked back at Cameron.
"Will...i'm leading." Cameron said.
"Okay, fine, but i get to advise." Will said.
"Alright, but if i hear one nagging comment, i am going to lead us into parts unknown. Okay?" Cameron said.
"Got it. Boy, my legs are stiff. I cant wait 'til we get to the Tofte forest." Will said.
"Me neither." Cameron agreed.
Back behind the gang, a bush rustled and out came a male gray squirrel who watched the group for a minute before rushing up to them at Mickey's right and began walking with them, with Cameron now leading the gang and Will walking along side the others behind him.
"Huh?" Rocco said, noticing the squirrel. "Hey, look."
Will and the others looked and saw the squirrel that was now traveling with them.
"Well, what do we have here?" Will asked.
"It's a squirrel." Leo said.
"I know it's a squirrel, Leo, i'm just trying to figure out why on Earth it's following us." Will said.
"Looks like we've got ourselves a new traveling companion." Leo said. "Right, Cameron?" He said as he and the others looked at Cameron.
"Yeah. Yeah, i guess we do." Cameron said while smiling as he looked back at the cute squirrel. He didn't know why the little furry creature had decided to tag along with them, but he saw no reason why they shouldn't let it. It was just a squirrel after all. A completely harmless animal.
