(7) Thanksgiving: The Fox And The Boy

While on Thanksgiving vacation with the family at his Grandmother's house in Trofte-Minnesota, Cameron, his pup, Mickey, and his two cousins encounter a boy who has run away from home with his pet Fox to keep it from being killed and made into a Thanksgiving meal by his stepfather, the sheriff. And they soon find themselves hiding the boy and fox out at Cam's Grandma's place.

36. T35: Unforseeable Outcome

T35: Unforseeable Outcome.

Monica came down the stairs where Bill was waiting for her at the bottom.

"What'd they say?" Bill asked.

"Nothing." Monica said. "Do you think they might be lying about not knowing where the boys are?"

"No. Not Alice. As for Brooklyn...well, no promises there." Bill said.

...

"Do you think the boys are safe whenever they are?" Alice asked, with Brooklyn sitting on the middle bed.

"I hope so." Brooklyn said. "But...if the sheriff's stepson is with them-"

"We don't know that, Brooklyn." Alice said.

"But if he is..." Brooklyn began as she stood up. "and the police catch them-"

"They can't." Alice said.

"Alice, that sheriff guy, he's not gonna give up. If he's right, and if he or the police do find his stepson with the boys, then that means they helped him hide from them. They'll be accessories to a runaway." Brooklyn warned.
