As they were setting out, Ragged Peak was bouncing with excitement at the thought of a new home.
"This will be a very long journey, but i think this is for the best of all cats." Solar song Meowed. This only made Ragged Peak more nervous of the journey ahead, he would miss his soft nest in the forest, and the soft smell of Amber Moon. He sighed and started towards the exit of the camp. He followed near the end of the group with White Feather, not wanting to talk to any of the other cats.
"Are you feeling alright Ragged Peak?" White Feather asked.
"Yeah." Ragged Peak replied, although he knew it wasn't true. He really liked Amber Moon, and remembering she had left only made him feel worse. He padded forward, a little faster now to get away from White Feather.
"Ragged Peak, come back." Ragged Peak did not feel like going back though. "I know what you're feeling, I felt it too when your dad…" she trailed off not wanting to say what really happened.
"Please tell me the story White Feather!" Ragged Peak pleaded.
"You've heard it enough times already, but I suppose I could tell you it again." White Feather replied." "A long time ago when I was a little older than you, I met your father Echo Flight."
"How did you meet him? Ragged Peak asked
"oh it's nothing special we were just in the nursery, but when we got a little older started leading lots of patrols together." White Feather responded. "And when I was pregnant, he left on a solo hunting patrol and he never came back." White Feather sighed. "Apparently, he was chased by a pack of three monsters, and they chased him into the river, but he was unable to get out…" White Feather had tears in the corner of her pale red eyes. "You look just like him." Ragged Peak knew he shouldn't push her, so he moved forward and met Moon Sky.
"Hello Moon Sky." Ragged Peak Meowed.
"Hi Ragged Peak, shouldn't you be with your mother?" Moon Sky asked.
"I wanted to talk to someone about a dream I had a couple nights ago." Ragged Peak responded.
"If you want you can talk to me, but shouldn't you tell your mother first?" Moon Sky Meowed
"She wouldn't understand, she thinks all my dreams mean nothing." Ragged Peak responded. "It said, "one will become two and a third shall be found." "Do you know what that means?" He asked
"Well I'm not sure but it might mean the group will split up into three, But whatever happens I'll stay with you." Moon Sky promised.
Before Ragged Peak could respond, Solar Song called all the cats together.
"We are about to exit the forest, and start our trek into the great unknown." Solar Song announced. Without warning Ragged Peak bounded ahead and set on being the first out of the forest.
"Ragged Peak! Come back!" White Feather yowled.
"Sorry! Just wanted to be the first out." Ragged Peak responded. "Woah! It's so big!" he announced. He went towards the back of the crowd to let the others take the lead. All the cats bounded out of the forest to see the giant open moor, with the moon shining brightly above.
"It's beautiful!" Rose Wing mewed astonished her belly plump with kits. Far in the distance was what appeared to be a bunch of red Dens with something on top of them slanted like a leaf with water dripping on it. "what do you think those are?" Rose Wing asked Lunar Stream.
"They're called twoleg dens." she responded "weird creatures i call twolegs live inside them with these monster like things that are five times even my size!" Ragged Peak couldn't hold back a shudder.
"But they go to sleep when they go to their dens." Moon Sky Meowed.
"We'll have to go through it." Solar Song announced. And started towards the twoleg dens. Everyone followed, but the atmosphere was tense, and no one was talking. The trek to the dens was very long. By the time they reached the dens, the sun was already at its highest, but it really felt like moons. My paws are so tired, Ragged Peak thought.
"Can we take a little break?" Ragged Peak asked.
"I can't feel my paws." Rose Wing added.
"Okay, I suppose it couldn't hurt to rest and hunt some." Solar Song replied. "Alright Moon Sky, I want you to go out hunting with Ragged Peak and White Feather."
"Okay Solar Song." Moon Sky meowed.
Ragged Peak tasted the air for prey and scented something new. He was near the twoleg den. He got down into a crouch and started stalking the scent until suddenly he felt something heavy crash down on his back. "Oof!" A strange voice mewed. Ragged Peak scrambled out from under it and slumped down. He looked over and saw a plump light brown tom.
"Who are you?" the cat asked.
"Who are you!" Ragged Peak responded.
"My name's Waffle, I live over there with my housefolk." Waffle responded. Ragged Peak couldn't believe his ears.
"You mean you live in a twoleg den!?" He asked, astonished.
"If that's what you call housefolk, then yes, and they're really nice." Waffles meowed. "They give me food every day!"
"But what about hunting and getting water?" Ragged Peak asked.
"Oh, they do all that for me." Waffles responded. "They bring me a bowl of water every day and food when the sun rises and when it falls."
"But isn't that boring? Not having to work for anything?" Ragged Peak asked. "What do you do all day?"
"I mostly sleep but sometimes I wander out here into the forest!" Waffles responded. Ragged peak sighed and left back towards the group.
