Ankou helped towards the Temple with the animal eared girl, he was holding her up, she was strong enough to stand but remain standing without help was another thing, they were making their way towards the citadel, it was already in view but it was in the center of the city it was going to take them awhile. He hoped she had the strength to make the trip. They passed through a couple arches that were shaped supposedly like wings of the great old ones, they were like everything else carved from chrome digizoid, the material tended to hum when light touched it was never weird since everyone grew up with it, people visiting had problems dealing with what people called living buildings, but there were people who thought the humming was beautiful and called it a gift from the great old ones. The harmonics was pleasant to the ear if you paid attention to it.

"I am sorry if I didn't introduce myself" the hybrid girl said but struggled to say each word "I am Kitsu Sohryu, but everyone calls me Kitsumon, I am the sovereign of the Wild Woods"

"Nice to meet you I am Ankou Soma. But please can hold back on talking till we reach our destination so we don't slowdown" Ankou said knowing that if she talked it would weaken her using strength to speak. She nodded in understanding, and they continued on, that's when Damien and Soichiro ran up to them followed up by Sorami.

"We were looking for you, when you didn't come back with the water Enna got worried she told us to look for you" Damien said, he stopped when he noticed the girl that Ankou had been helping "Whoa a hybrid, is she ok" he eased himself under Kitsu's other arm, she he was helping her up too.

"Her name is Kitsu, I found her in the stream, and she wants me to take her to the Citadel… Question is your father on duty now, Soichiro, because she is in definite need of a healer?" Ankou Said.

"As head of the Medical Clerics, he should be there right now" Soichiro said giving an expression of concern towards Kitsu.

The sun was setting by the time they reached their destination, they were now in the shadow of the great citadel, the structure that seemingly went forever into the sky, and its horse shoe shaped base gave it a weird curve.

"Wait here with her I'll look for a healer" Ankou said leaving Kitsu with Damian, with Soichiro taking his place holding Kitsu up.

Ankou was now looking for an the entrance into the Citadel, if he had been a member of the order of Nazar, he would know where it was but since his father had never brought him here he had no clue where he was going, that's when he heard singing, the most beautiful thing he had heard in his life. It matched perfectly with the humming of every building in the city like it was harmonized with it, He couldn't help himself he had to follow the sound of the singing, and he searched for the source of it. Till he reached a very picturesque meadow, more breathtaking than Enna's garden. The singer sat in the middle of it all, she was the most beautiful thing in the garden, her raven hair draped to her down her back, and she was like something out of a fairy tale, her pale skin, and right down to her purple dress, her beauty and grace was beyond any words that could describe. He was instantly in love with her.

Digimon Sync Episode 41 "When Ankou met Lilithmon…"

She was now looking at him, she wasn't offended by his presence, and she looked upon him with stunning purple eyes. He had a problem talking, everything he said just came out as mumble, and he couldn't make actual words come out of his mouth. It was like she glided towards him, until she was standing right in front of him with the most heartwarming smile on her face, she kissed him on the cheek, and her lips were soft and warm. Ankou pulse raced as her lips touched his cheek, this was the best thing that ever happened to him. Even though it was normal custom for the order to greet people like this, He hoped that this moment would last forever. But he suddenly had the courage to speak "A Kitsu needs… Needs help she is very injured I found her in a stream" he said causing the girl pull away from him, making him wish he didn't say anything.

"Where is she" The girl said, with tension in her, causing Ankou to flinch because of the sudden change from the mirth of her singing to worry and fear. Ankou gestured for her to follow him, and she did as he made his way back to where his friends were, Enna was with them now, and was tending to Kitsu with her poultices, she was aspiring to join the order one day when she got a bit older. But she was only good enough to keep her patient stable for a few minutes, it was a good thing she had arrived. The girl Ankou met in the meadow ran up to Kitsu taking stock of all her injuries. An entrances appeared in front of them, and several men in the grab of the Nazar order, their red ponchos emblazoned with its symbol. They ran over and surrounded the girl in purple, like wall forcing away Ankou, Soichiro, Damien, and Enna. The girl left the circle, and faced those who brought Kitsu there.

"I am Lily, the maiden of the hearth, the embodiment of the great old one Lilithmon. I thank you all for bringing back Kitsu, she is a good friend of the order" She said with a smile returning to her face "You can go home now" she kissed each of them on the cheek like she had greeted Ankou moments ago, then she and the other members of the order entered the door that had appeared taking Kitsu with them.

Damien, Soichiro, and Enna, went to leave, but Ankou just stood there staring at the door as it closed then disappeared, he placed his hand on the cheek Lily had kissed for the second time in the past several minutes. Then he too turned and rejoined his friends as they left.

They went back to towards Enna's garden, but stopped at the market place on the way back. Enna bought from fish from the local fisherman, the grey bearded Daron, and he was very cheerful old man, who was chewing on an old pipe, which he never lit since his wife passed away 5 years ago. Everyone in the market place knew Enna, she was there best costumer, and flower and produce merchant, even with how young she was, she had taken over for her mother because she wanted to, and her mother was too sick to continue. Enna waved at a stout man named Eru. Who was the famous tailor for the area, and was renounced for being the best with weaving Chrome digizoid, he was a man in mid-fifties, his face cragged from working with metals in weaving clothes, and he was also very spirited for his age. Standing beside him was his son, who was spitting image of his father when he was that young. The son blew a kiss towards Sorami, who blushed in response.

Another man ran up to Enna, carrying a basket of bread, he handed it to her "These are thanks for your mother's famous berry jam" said the man smiling showing a few missing teeth. Probably because he ate too much jam. Which was the joke around the market place. After this they returned to Enna's garden to continue to pick weeds, and Ankou fetched the water he had meant to before he had bumped into Kitsu.

"Ankou that was kind of weird, I never heard of that title Maiden of the Hearth, either she never leaves the grounds of the tower, or that title is fiction and meant to hide something" Damien said looking back in the direction of the tower "I hope we aren't going to get in trouble for bumping into her" Damien saying this brought back the mental image of Lily kissing him, but he quickly banished the thought.

"I know what you mean" Ankou said looking towards the citadel too, it had been an eventful day after he met Kitsu, he hoped she was ok, and got all healed up.

-Citadel Antechamber-

Lily followed the order members that were healing Kitsu, as they were heading towards the chapel the very center of the temple. She needed to hear Kitsu's reports of the Dragon's Eye Lake religion and the village of Mihirashi. They entered a room with many statues that looked exactly like Lily, except it had her with wings and her leaf petal attire. They placed Kitsu on a couch, she lay there now in stable condition.

"Kitsu what happened, I sent you to investigate a disturbance, because I sensed something had escaped the wild woods and arrived in the Dragon's Eye Region. I am sorry I didn't know you would get hurt in the process I would have sent more people with you. Whatever it was didn't feel strong enough to harm you this way" Lily asked placing her left hand on Kitsu's shoulder.

"It's very bad, Ikelosmon, who is one of Erebosmon's children, has escaped the prison he was spawned in, he is corrupting the landscape, any human in the lands tainted by him turn into monsters known as sentinels. If they touch you, you are turned to stone. They overwhelmed me with their numbers, it's not the same type of taint as the Wild Woods, and it hurts for me to be there." Kitsu shook as she spoke, showing how weak she still was.

Lily stood, and then vanished briefly. She returned after a couple minutes "I touched the corruption, and it hurts me too, I am guessing it would do the same thing to my sister" Lily said looking saddened by the revelations of the situation, she couldn't do anything about the tainted land.

The Red haired girl entered, and walked over to Kitsu, and Lily "Sis, if we can't take care of this ourselves, maybe it's time humanity does it themselves?" She said looking at Lily, and then looked at Kitsu giving an expression of worry towards her friend. "Rest my friend, Kitsu I have to show my sister something important" she left followed by her sister Lily, after leaving they entered at room with a platform, above on top of it something glowed, they were now going up to it with an elevator, when they were now at level with it, the thing appeared to be a weird glowing glyph that looked like a star.

"What is that, Sister?" Lily asked looking at it with awe, "It's beautiful"

"Sis I call it the Digital Crest of Honing inner power, Digi Chip for short, this one is of the virtue of light. It took me hundreds of years to create it, and empower it with my essence of my spirit" she paused to take in the expression on her sister's face. "I am working on more but they are only shells right now, I am recovering from making this one.

"This is brilliant, but we can't wait, I'll take over from here" Lily said placing her right hand on her sister's shoulder "I am older than you so I have more power to spare so don't worry about me I'll empower these shells. Lorrimon, please my little sister?" Lily said gesturing to the other glyphs on the platform. There were 9 in total that had shape, along with these there were masses of swirling symbols that could become more of them.

Lily walked up to one shaped like a heart "I guess this would be the virtue of love" she said placing her hand on it, and it started filling with light. As this was happening she seemed to be getting paler than she usually was. Once the thing was filled Lily gestured to the next one.

"That one is the virtue of Purity" Said Lorrimon, and watched as Lily touched that one to, and empowered it, and gestured to another, which looked like a pillar with a sun on top "That is the virtue of hope" Lily placed her hand on this one too, and now looked very weak after empowering it. The process kept going one digi chip shell after another, when the last was finished Lily collapsed on the ground, Lorrimon ran towards Lily "are you ok?"

"I am fine, we need to summon some wielders for these" Lily said barely keeping her eyes open "I just need some rest that is all"

"What about those kids, who brought in Kitsu, but the digi chip will have to accept them. These things have to go to people with a strong ties to these virtues, if they forsake or go against said virtue these things will reject them and find new people to wield them"

"Summon them right away" Lily said seeming to have regained some strength, and a smile returned to her face. But when her sister left the room, she slumped over and crawled back to her main chamber to await her sister's return with might be the chosen children, the destined ones. "Digidestined"

-Enna's Garden-

Enna walked out the garden holding a tray of cookies and lemonade, "Fresh cookie and lemonade, come get before I feed it all to our digimon partners. She joked as she tried to maintain balance holding the awkward tray while she walked. Her blue eyes glinted with mischief, she ended up intentional tripping and almost dumping the entire thing on her brother, it would have success if Damian didn't catch the tray on the way down without spilling a drop or losing a single cookie.

"Little lady, Food isn't for wasting on pranks, it's for eating" Damien said taking a glass and cookie from the tray.

"Little I am not little I am only like 2 and a half years younger than you" Enna said annoyed because it hadn't been Ankou that caught her as she fell.

"Um to all of us you will always be the little girl, and a great friend" Sorami said patting Enna on the head, and trying to ignore the annoying presence of Ankou and Damien. But she couldn't keep her eyes off of Soichiro. She had a crush on him since the first day they met, but he always seems to hang out with the two loons, overly serious guy and really lazy ass. But Soichiro was a gentle guy with the soul of a poet, why does he hang out with them.

A robed figure entered the garden of Enna, their face obscured by the hood of the robe, all that was showing was red hair, on the hood was symbol of the order, which looked like a sideways 8, but signified the infinite nature of life. "The order has requested you too come with me to the citadel, all of you" she gestured to all who were present. "Bring your digimon partners too"

They followed the robed girl to a waiting wagon, she climbed up onto the front of it, and took the reins, she gestured for them to get onboard, which they did quickly, and sat down in the back. The wagon sped its way through the side streets avoiding high traffic areas as it made its way to the citadel.

"Why are we needed there" Ankou asked still very confused about what is going on "is this about the girl I brought to the citadel, did she die or something?"

"No she is in perfect health, it's the news she brought us is what this is all about, all your questions and more will be answered please bear with us and wait till we get there" robed girl said as whipped the reins to make the Pegasusmon go faster, it was on loan from a member of the order. They finally reached the center of the city the citadel of Nazar, she disembarked followed by Ankou and the rest. They followed the robed figure into the citadel, and up through the antechamber till they reached the chapel, waiting for them there was the girl that Ankou met earlier when they had brought Kitsu there, but something seemed off, Ankou couldn't put his finger on it.

"Welcome my potential chosen children, I am Lilithmon, I am not just the embodiment, Lily is the alias I take when I leave the citadel. I didn't want to reveal my identity to someone that wasn't a member of my order but the situation has come up and I must ask for your help. An evil has escape from the Tartarus seal, this will threaten life as we know it, and it has contaminated a city turning people into monsters will you help prevent this from happening to more people?"

Ankou's head was still spinning from the revelation that the girl had fallen for was a great old one, she was life itself and one of the three that created this world and everyone on it but he still loved and would do anything for her "When do you want us to go?" he said clinching his right hand into a fist and placed it directly over his heart, all his friends looked at him with a shocked expression, they knew him to avoid any kind of responsibility of any kind, but here he was saying he was willing to travel to tainted land and fight an unknown enemy.

Damien and Soichiro both did the same gesture as Ankou, and repeated his phrase, if he was onboard then they would be too, they would follow their friend through fire and brimstone. Sorami and Enna was dumb founded they stared blankly at the three goofs that have just pledge themselves into service.

"Ok I am in" Sorami said not believing what she was doing.

"And so am I" Enna said wanting to go on an adventure with her brother and his friends.

"Ankou Soma, Soichiro Kamiya, Enna Kamiya, Sorami Yagami, Damien Star, Oh Youth, guided by the fates… Unite the virtues… Bring light to the land as digidestined, save the people from the nightmares Ikelosmon" Lilithmon said gesturing them to come forward, and as they symbols rose from the floor, it was the 9 digi chips. "Each of you walk into the middle of these and announce your digimon"

Soichiro was the first, he and his digimon partner walked into the center of glowing glyphs known as digi chips "my digimon partner is Patamon" soon as he said he said his digimon's name, the glyphs started to hum, and one shot its way towards him, it glowed bight, it was the virtue of courage.

Next up was Enna, she walked into the middle of the glyphs, she fidgeted nervously "My digimon partner is Spadamon" but this time nothing happened, she waited a few minutes then repeated her digimon's name, but still nothing happened.

"I am sorry Enna not everyone can be chosen" Lilithmon said giving Enna a sympathetic look "now who is up next"

"That's a relief I didn't want to go on an adventure after all" Enna said trying to put on a brave face, but felt like crying, she wanted to go on an adventure but she probably couldn't anyway she had a garden to take care of.

Next was the hesitant Sorami Yagami, she made her way slowly towards the glyphs, she didn't know about these chips and why it had to be her that needed to do this "Why can't you guys do this yourselves, you are great old ones. Why do lowly humans have to do your work for you?" she asked stopping in her step and turning to face Lilithmon.

"Because going there will makes us sick, it's the chaotic nature of the place, and also humanity depends too much upon us, I and my sister have helped humanity since they were created. This situation has created an opportunity for humanity to step out from our shadows and help themselves" Lilithmon said smiling at Sorami "just think about it you will be heroes?"

Sorami turned to the glyphs and gulped from the tension. She thought to herself that Soichiro has already been picked for this mission and she wanted to be there with him, she started making her way towards the glyphs again, she stopped in the middle of them. "My digimon partner is Gatomon" at that moment one of the glyphs lit up the entire room, and when the light dissipated the one in front of Sorami was the virtue of light.

Ankou without hesitation walked over to the center of the glyphs, he was looking at Lilithmon the whole time, with a resolute expression of love "My digimon partner is Gabumon" the one that lit up and came to him made him feel warm, it seemed to resonate with something deep within him "Virtue of Love" he said out loud without even meaning to. "I'll do whatever you want me to do" he returned his gaze back to Lilithmon his new digi chip pulsing in between his hands like a heartbeat.

Last of them to go up was Damien, "my digimon partner is Veemon" he said before one streaked its way towards him the virtue of Reliability it felt to him like he was reuniting with an old friend one that he hadn't seen in a very long time, he smiled at it "So I am reliable?"

Lilithmon stood and the rest of the digi chips, streaked into the roof, and vanished "They will find their own wielders, and I left a message on each to meet you at your destination, or on your way there. You are my digidestined, the chosen children" she said looking fondly on them all. "Now go forth and save us all, you will start this in the cradle of life Primary Village, then you will head into the green zone, you will meet fellow digidestined along the way"

Before they left Lorrimon, ran up to them, handing each of them a weird looking device "This what I refer to as a Digivice, you put the chip into and call out "Digi synchronization, your chip activation!" she said showing them where to insert the chip. They left Lorrimon and her sister Lilithmon along, She turned to face her when they were gone "I'll seek out the rest and give them their devices" she turned into a ball of light and ascended towards the ceiling.

"You truly don't know your destiny, the one that seeks you out when you least expect it, and changes everything you know. It's an elegant truth in existence, or it's just fate" Lilithmon said watching her sister leave, before crumpling backwards into her chair, her left hand rubbing her temple. Her vision was starting to blur. She hoped they would prevent the world from falling into darkness, but they might not be strong enough without more of her help.

They were half way back to their homes, When Soichiro broke the silence "I can't believe it, that we were chosen to be warriors. But I don't know if I still want to follow though, she said if we reject it this thing would go to someone else" he looked down at his digivice and digi chip, someone his age should not be have to be responsible for saving the word "Ankou is right why did it have to be us?"

"If you're going to be like that, then why did you go up and take one?" Sorami asked confused by Soichiro attitude that sounded more like Ankou than it did for him "I decided that I am going through with and I hope that you would be there with me"

"I thought exactly what Soichiro was thinking before I got my chip now I don't that way I feel this is my destiny I rather have my friends with me" Ankou said with Damien beside him nodding in agreement with his friend.

Soichiro looked downcast. And then returned to looking at his friends "on second thought, it will be great going on an adventure with my four best friends" he was still showing the mannerisms of someone who was sure that they should be doing.

They each headed home, to pack and get ready for the long trip the next day, their adventure will begin and that will be the stuff of legends.
