Digimon Sync Chapter 45: Before the Storm, a digimon fanfic

Ankou stood over the of remains of the order of Nazar, and nothing was left of his former life, he picked up the mask of the order it was smeared with three streaks of blacked dried blood, whoever wore it before had clawed at it with their final breath, he turned it around and slowly put it on, he would fulfill the dying wish of his dying wish of his beloved Lilithmon, and world will be purified, she is the light and the darkness, she is purifying flame. He dropped his digi chip, he relinquished it, as the chip touched the ground it turned into ball of light and launched into the sky. He didn't deserve the digi chip of love because he could never have that feeling ever again.

-Present day-

That's when everything, and the substance that had enveloped them all reformed into the shape it had been in the center of the room, leaving the present day digidestined, with Virgil and the ghost of Damien.

"My biggest regret was that I didn't do anything, I didn't know which side to take Ankou's are Soichiro's, everything happened so quickly, I didn't know what to do, you think after all the adventures we had together that break down wouldn't have happened but sadly it did" The ghost of Damien star said looking down cast. "Poor Kiseki so distraught she took her own life"

"Sensei I don't know if anyone could have handled that situation any better" Virgil said before being cut off by Damien.

"I was the virtue of reliability, I wasn't reliable at all, I hope the next holder of this virtue will do a better job of it" Damien said looking down at the chip he held in his spectral hand. "but despite how it ended it was the journey that counted, and if I had to do it all over again in the next life I'll probably would" the chip then turned into a globe of light, just like what happened when Ankou had relinquished it, and flew into the sky to find its next chosen digidestined.

"You expect us to buy that crap, Ankou was a traitor, and Lilithmon was not a great old one, you wasted our time" Tajiri Kamiya said with spite in his tone. He turned to his daughter Sorami Kamiya "What do you think?"

"I am not sure, the Guardian ancient texts were that clear about what happened." Sorami said looking at her father, with a confused look on her face "What do you think we should do"

"We should head back to the sanctum, and maybe look into the matter some more on a later date because we have a traitor of our own to hunt down namely Donica Skies"

"We'll stay here and do our own research" Hikaru said looking around at the book templates around her.

"Why don't we bust into the Kurokami brigade, and hand out some justice before they end the world" Mikuni said crossing her arms, with the annoyance of standing around reading books while the world's end was looming on the horizon.

No that is not a good of the ideas, we would just get ourselves of the killed, and we don't fully know of the situations we would be of getting ourselves into" Thania said in her jumbled way of saying things. That confused more than it solved problems.

Damien walked over to Hikaru "I will be departing this world, like the friends when they went through that door, my digi chip had been tethering me to this realm, I know you will miss me but maybe we will meet again in another lifetime"

"I hope so too" Hikaru said putting her hand on Damien's shoulder but it went through his spectral form instead, her eyes tear, and streaked lines down her cheeks, that dripped off her face like raindrops.

Damien's ghost vaporized into crystal sparking shards that flew off into the sky, until there was nothing there of him leaving Hikaru looking at nothing, but she was still crying. Takajin embraced his sister with a hug, and let her cry on his shoulder. "So long digidestined, and good luck!"

"I am your mentor now as of Damien's final wishes, and I believe Hikaru is right you need to understand things more before you decide on your actions for the future" Virgil said gesturing to the book templates around them "now get to studying"

Tajiri and Sorami were about to leave, when Takajin called out to them and they stopped, "What is it?" he said turning to face the one that called out to him, who was still consoling his sister.

"The Digidestined with the chip of light sees the future, when they first activate their powers, what did you see when you activated it?" Takajin asked while stroking his sister's head.

"I saw nothing I was in a void of darkness, so the world will end if we don't do anything" Tajiri said before turning to continue to leave "while you are here reading books I'll be taking care of the problem after I take care of a personal issue first" he left the room with Sorami without Virgil contesting their leaving at all.

Huang watched them leave, wondering if he should follow them, he had an uneasy about letting Sorami leave like that, when she should remain and so did Tajiri since they were both digidestined like the rest of them, but who was he fooling, he didn't even have his digi chip and possibly wasn't a real digidestined at all.

Sorami and Tajiri exited the pyramid, and Impmon digivolved into Thunderbirmon, and they both got on board "When we have time we should burn that heresy" he said looking down at the pyramid "actually but theres no point since the actual copies the books in there still exist somewhere, we will need to destroy those first" Thunderbirmon launched itself into the air, and headed in a northern direction that would take them back to the Guardian sanctum.

Digimon Sync Episode 45 "Before the Storm"

Sorami opened her eyes, everything was foggy, she couldn't remember where she was, she touched her face and pulled away with blood cover fingers, she rattled by an explosion, that caused her ears to ring, she was in the middle of a battle, but whom were her father and herself fighting, her memory unclouded slightly and she remember that they had been searching for Donica Skies, the traitorous leader of the group Paradigm Shift, we were here to stop them from doing more fake digi chip experiments on people, experiments that drove the people that used the fake chips insane. She got to her feet and needed to search out for her father. He had to be somewhere in this but where was he. She tried to think where she was so she could get her bearing on where he was, they were in Star City, they had found a map with this location marked on it, it was in the heart of the city and they had been attacked on their way there

"Father!" She shouted out, trying to fight away the fog in her brain. She must have taken a heavy hit to the head.

That's when she spotted Donica in her wolf's mask, she shook off her minds fog and chased after her. Donica ducked around a corner, and Sorami lost her. And then she was behind running in the opposite direction, Sorami turned around gave chase only to lose her again. That's when her father appeared, and his digimon GuardiAngemon was with him, and they were fight various insect digimon. She looked for Impmon her digimon partner, who was nowhere in sight, then she spotted cradled in the arms of her father, he was protecting him from the attacking digimon, until GuardiAngemon swoop in and destroyed all the attackers leaving Tajiri cradling an injured Impmon.

"Father!" Sorami called out again, this time her father turned to face her, and ran up and handed her digimon partner to her.

"I guess the rumors about Donica's lab were true, and it was in this area, The cloaks these guys were wearing are those of Paradigm shift" Tajiri said, before turning his attention to Sorami "Your partner is going to be ok she is just a little shaken up from ambush"

"How the hell did they know we were coming, do you think there is spy among the ranks Donica was one of us?" Sorami said trying to contemplate who it could have been.

"No that isn't possible, I know everyone in the guardians, and I trust them with my life, the only other people who knew about this was our fellow digidestined, we left behind at the pyramid with that heretic Virgil" Tajiri said with a slight venom in his tone.

"I don't really think they would be working with Donica, remember Huang had his digi chip taken by her, and replaced with a fake one that nearly drove him completely insane, he wouldn't do anything for her" Sorami said as a counter argument to what her father had just said but trying not to be disrespectful.

"He could have given it to her freely, and didn't know the fake one would do that to him, or one of the others could have snatch his and given it to her, how can you be so blind is to trust any of them" Tajiri said "You barely know them"

"I know enough about them that I trust them, I am very good at judging character, father you said that yourself" Sorami said knowing she was right, she had to correct her father because the digidestined were a team. But how would they ever trust her again after what she had done to them, she had left them in the clutches of the Kurokami Brigade to be tortured.

"But they are weak, and weak people tend to be easy to fall for suggestions, and they were captive by Kurokami brigade, and if you say so was I, that is a different I am not weak, the chip of light is one of strongest digi chips ever created" Tajiri said crossing his arms like he was demanding an explanation.

"I once thought they were weak, but I have seen them overcome the most deadly of foe, when I thought they were going to fail I have watched them when they didn't think I was there, they might not be as strong as you yet but… they will be soon!"

"You have grown as a person, once upon a time you would never have dreamed of arguing with me I am so proud of you, we need to find out who the actual leak is and take care of them and Donica" Tajiri said placing his left hand his daughter's shoulder reassuring her. "You said that they are getting stronger I believe Mikuni will be the likely candidate to do that first, when we are done here we should try to recruit her into the guardians"

"Hopefully when she realizes something more about herself and her inner strength, she needs to deal with current state of doubt" Sorami said bringing up Mikuni's broken arm.

"She is resourceful, but she frequently jumps into the fray without thinking about the consequences" Sorami answered bringing up one of Mikuni's major faults.

"Enough on that now, we have a rogue organization to squash before they do any more damage than they already have, and get Huang's digi chip back to him" Tajiri said before turning around and scanning the area around them for more attackers but it appeared there wasn't "lets proceed with caution, there could be more of them hiding waiting for us to drop our guard"

They proceeded like they were being watched from all around, which was very likely they knew that Donica skies was a very paranoid person, her partner Gabumon even though not her digimon partner since Donica wasn't born with one could slide digivolve into Psychemon and then digivolve into Astamon for unknown set of time. It was that which made him very dangerous. They needed to find her lab soon and deal with Paradigm Shift. They traveled further without any more conflict, which was more worrying then if there was any more, they looked around for any possible secret entrances like there had been at Primary village, to an underground bunker which would be her lab, and save whoever she was currently experimenting on dealing with who ever got in their way.

Sorami looked in one of the cells, and for a few seconds saw the boy who, that lead her to the the entrance to the tunnel of the lab that had been in primary village, and then he was gone and the cell was vacant "We need to take these children home" she said shaking what she had seen out of her system. She and her father now opened each cell letting all the crazy children out, and free, which they did and took off down the tunnel Sorami and Tajiri had come from. They waited till the prisoners were out of sight before continuing on into another tunnel, wondering when someone would attack them, but nothing happened, they now reached Donica's lab. It had various test tubes, and several operating beds, beside one of the operation tables was several burnt digi chips they must have been past failures, and tossed to the ground, shattering a few of them.

"Are we too late and has she already left this placing we were here" Sorami said hoping that she was wrong and Donica was still here, to be punished for her crimes.

"I am over here" said a voice across the room from them, and standing across from Donica and Tajiri was Donica wearing her wolf mask, and beside her was Astamon, GuardiAngemon got into a defensive position, and so did Impmon getting ready to digivolve. "I am so hopelessly outnumbered, but you won't kill me I am the only one that knows where Huang digi chip of hope is, without it he is useless to the digidestined"

"How do you want me to kill them, and who do I start with?" Astamon said aiming his gun back and forth from Sorami to Tajiri and back again. Until GuardiAngemon stepped in the way. "So the Angel digimon wants to fight?"

"We need them alive, and I know both their digimon's weakness" Donica said "Starting with Tajiri's digimon partner" she pulled out a weird looking device and pressed a button on it and dropped it to the ground. It rolled until it reached GuardiAngemon, then latched onto him. Then the digimon started to scream loudly and clutch its ear like it was hearing something no one else could hear. "That device gives off a vibration that cause his armor to emit a sound only he could ear and it hurts him a lot" she reached out her hand towards them "Now please hand them over those digi chips of yours, and I'll turn off that device" Tajiri was fighting off the urge to scream, because the pain from his digimon partner was transferring over to him.

"No!" Sorami said pulling out her digi chip and digivice "Digi chip of friendship activation" they were both enveloped in spheres. When it dissipated she was now with Raikoumon.

"With all the crap you pulled, I am going to end you!" Raikoumon said with electricity in her eyes getting more intense with each word. There was a exploding and a hole appeared in the wall at head level with, she turned to look at the hole and turned back to face Astamon, he had fire a shot at her and miss intention, she saw him smirking at her, like he was teasing a little child. Donica was a mirror image of that smirk, and produced another device in her hand, it looked exactly like the attached to GuardiAngemon. She pressed the button and Raikoumon crumpled to her knees, and tried to cover her ears, and Sorami began to shriek the pain was beyond anything she had been trained to handle.

"Knock them both out and, and tied them to both examination beds" Donica commanded Astamon "We need them virtually unharmed because I like to take a look at their digi chips"

"As you wish my mistress" Astamon said, before charging at GuardiAngemon, slamming him into the wall with an enormous smashing noise. Like a hammer meeting an anvil. The device that caused him pain had prevented him from defending himself, if it hadn't been for that he could have taken down Astamon, and was decapitated instead. He then turned towards Raikoumon, and got ready to attack, he charged and she just managed to dodge the incoming attack but by only a hairs width, she wasn't as lucky with the second a bullet shot that slammed into her shoulder causing both her and Sorami to scream in unison. Which was music to his ears, he grinned in reaction to the sound of it.

"I can't believe you are doing this to us after I took you in and sheltered you, even when the rest of this guardians didn't want you around because they considered you a bad omen being born without a digimon partner, but I welcomed you anyways, How could you?" Tajiri said through gritted teeth, trying to force himself through the pain.

"You don't get it this is so I can have a digimon partner, the more data I gather the more I am closer to doing so I believe the digi chips will grant me my one great wish" Donica said looking Tajiri right in the eyes. "Even if I have to kill every digidestined until I get what I want, and there is a battle ahead for the fate of this world, the dark one Lilithmon has awakened I thought you would be on my side, the digidestined should be helping me"

There has to be better ways of doing this. You are hurting so many innocent people" Sorami shouted at Donica, but also trying to motivate herself through the pain.

"Don't make me laugh the guardians were never about defending the innocent, it was about protecting the status quo, and stepping over dead bodies to do so" Donica calmly retorted with a laughing tone. "You too being digidestined will eventually conflict with that, and what will you do then turn against the guardians?"

"Whatever it will take to perform my duties as a digidestined, I feel my father thinks the same way if guardians threaten the world like Lilithmon does now, we will have to fight them I would be conflicted. Because the guardians are like a family to me, I felt the same about you, you were like family to me?" Sorami said with her tone resolute.

Raikoumon seemed to get stronger, as she forced her way towards, her expression was still that of extreme pain, she was being fueled by the emotions that Sorami was feelings making all of it slide of her like water "You will never hurt another person as we still live" she said turning to face her human partner, knowing that Astamon could have killed them several times over, and wasn't using his full power in his attacks, because Donica wanted them alive for her experiments. With the help of whatever device they had used on GuardiAngemon they had disabled him. That's when she noticed about Astamon, and knew what she had to do. She turned back to Sorami and nodded wordlessly, and responded in kind.

"We Surrender!" Sorami said, stepping forward "Without my father I am no match for someone like Astamon. "Please let my father go, he can't be an experiment the guardians need him to be their leader"

"I won't turn off the device till we are safely away, I have a few more labs that we can go to" Donica said looking very pleased with herself. She gestured for Astamon to stand down, and and looked disappointed doing so.

Sorami and Raikoumon stepped forward until they were face to face with Donica and Astamon "Now!" Sorami shouted, and Raikoumon shot lightning into the foot of Astamon with instant results, the digimon dissolved because he had been unstable, and Sorami seeing the surprised look on Donica's face, charged into her and throws the woman into Raikoumon's electric aura, she was killed instantly, Donica's face was frozen in horrified expression, and her eyes became unfocused as she died.

That's when something weird happened, she was consumed in white, when that dissipated they seemed to be in the sky. Standing on clouds, and surrounded by fog, and stars that twinkled in it. Only thought going through her mind was that of where was had she died and ended up in the afterlife inside the door of endings. That's when she saw a figure in the distance. They were completely unfocused, and she couldn't make them out. Sorami squinted to make out the figure but couldn't see their features, but that's when the figure came to focus on their own, and she recognized them right away it was Lorrimon, the one she had been shown in the flash back.

"I am Lumina, and Congratulation Sorami Kamiya I knew you could do it" Lumina said raising her left hand to shake Sorami's hand.

"Great Old One, I don't understand what have I done?" Sorami asked sounding very confused "is this for killing Donica?"

"You did something that Liam Orion was unable to do, because he didn't understand friendship like you. The lessons you've learned have taught you, you have proven that you are ready, Sorami, now follow me" Lumina said gesturing the girl forward.

"Ready for what?" Sorami asked, she was still confused at what was going on, she wanted answer but didn't want to challenge a great old one. She followed into a room filled with images from her past, they showed, and childhood, it showed her joining the guardians.

You have come such a long long way I have watched you from that very first day" Lumina sang "To see how you might grow, to see what you will, and what you have been through and all the ways you made me proud of you" she unfolded her wings, "It's time now for a new change to come, You've grown and your new life is just begun, to go where will go, and see what you will see, to find what you will be. Its time for you to fulfill your destiny"

That's when a glow hit Sorami, it felt right at first, but then it felt horribly wrong, it held her in place and it wouldn't let her move.

-Paradigm Shift Lab-

Donica stood in front a glass cylinder, and inside it was Sorami, and Impmon "Your friends have betrayed you, and sided with enemy, you must kill them, because that's your destiny" she sang to the cylinder, she watched as Sorami. And her digimon partner glowed, and turned into the digi chip symbol for friendship. And start to fly out of the lab "What if this doesn't work Abaddon, it could but there is always a chance"

"There is another, we have him and we could use him the same way, and we could keep sending more until we get what we want, which is all the digi chips" a voice said from the darkness.

Donica looked over at the symbol of friendship as it finally left the lap, and head towards the digidestined "What have we done?" she said to herself smiling.
