Angel: Uhh, so this is in the same vein as the last episodes of season 5 where Izuka doesn't play much of a part for some episodes until we see her specific group again. This is because they're just absent until a certain point which I think starts after this episode, so...sorry! I don't think it's that big of a gap, though.
With the slow burn, I said this in like chapter 10 months ago that it is VERY slow. That was clearly not a lie. And I did say that people might get mad or impatient, so it's not like I did not warn people about it. Sorry that it's been a long time since then, but good things come to those who wait. I can at least say that the good stuff is at least written at this point in time. Whether it's in this season or season 7, I can't tell you. Plus, if I had gotten them together sooner, they wouldn't have that growth and it'd feel rushed as hell. Which I know people wouldn't have wanted.
What would Katsuki do if Izuka dies? Uhhh, this is kind of an ironic question given season 7, because…that episode like I said will probably destroy me. And I don't plan on killing off Izuka either to those wondering. But Katsuki would definitely kill whoever kills Izuka, he'd be in denial first. He'd also try to fight and keep her alive if she's near-death in his proximity, but she'd die regardless. But that's hypothetically speaking, she's not dying anytime soon in the story.
This is a superhuman society, where about 80 percent of people are born with an uncanny ability known as a Quirk.
These powers can range from ice, fire, gravity, super speed, and more.
Not everyone uses their powers for good, though.
Even with the proper counseling...or sometimes, a lack of it, there are people will use their powers for evil.
Which is why the world needed a new profession: the hero.
That's right, actual superheroes who use their powers to protect the world.
My name is Izuku Midoriya, and I inherited a secret Quirk called One for All from All Might.
And my name is Izuka Midoriya, and I always had a Quirk called Galaxy...but I didn't use it to its potential growing up.
That's how we were enrolled in the hero course at UA.
And then we started to hone our Quirks together!
After a series of incidents that put us up against the worst of the worst, our incredible classmates and the two of us got our provisional hero licenses.
We've met villains of pure evil...and sometimes just out of not having anywhere else to turn. Getting our provisional licenses wasn't easy for all of us. I was one of three who didn't pass the first time after all.
Meanwhile, the League of Villains, led by Tomura Shigaraki, joined forces with the Metahuman Liberation Army.
A past but now revived force of over 100,000 people, some of which included heroes of our own that had joined the cause. Whether undercover...or because they had sworn their allegiance to the Liberation.
In that instant, their power increased astronomically. Shigaraki renamed this group the Paranormal Liberation Front. His closest allies are now lieutenants of different units within the organization.
And now that they've increased their numbers...they're now even more terrifying than the League was before. Especially with someone as evolving as Shigaraki fronting them.
The Wing Hero, Hawks, was sent undercover by the Public Safety Commission. Through careful recon, he uncovered some of the group's secrets. Using that information, the police called on heroes from around the country and began a huge operation to round up this new legion of villains and get them off the streets for good.
And because the Public Safety Commission ordered the hero course students at UA to take part...we had used our work studies to train for the big fight. And I'll admit, the fact that they were relying on us students came with a lot of pressure. Because it means that if we lose today to the Paranormal Liberation Front...all hope in heroes would be lost.
"First, the pros will be split into 2 groups," Naomasa informed the group, showing the team names on the screen. Those groups were called Team Endeavor and Team Edgeshot. "Team Endeavor will be in charge of securing Kyudai Garaki at Jaku Hospital. Team Edgeshot will storm the Gunga Mountain Villa we believe to be the Paranormal Liberation Front's hideout. These two events will happen simultaneously. In addition, hero course students will be deployed as logistical support for both teams. They'll assist with civilian evacuation and rescue if the encounters start to escalate. We expect substantial resistance from the villains, their supporters, and the Nomu, but we cannot wait any longer. If we don't act now, they will prevail. The doctor, his pets, Shigaraki—every villain must fall!" Naomasa then narrowed his eyes. "Heroes, the idea is to take out the entire Paranormal Liberation Front in one sweep!" And so, every hero assigned was deployed out to head for their locations.
The Nomu guards all growled and snarled, showing their fangs. Mirko wasn't worried at all as her legs buffed up. "Hah, this'll be fun!" She exclaimed while running and jumping, swinging her leg to kick one away. She then jumped on its head, using it to gain some momentum in order to kick down one lunging for her. She took one down and then stomped hard on another's head. She swung up her leg to defeat another one, spinning around in a circle to take down several more.
She then emerged into the lab seconds later, to the fear of Dr. Garaki, the real one. A Nomu started to slowly fall from the ground as the other tubes in the room fell and broke. Amongst the chaos, Mirko looked up with a gasp to see Garaki and then smirked confidently. He let out a terrified scream of her presence, as he was not expecting anyone to come across him at all.
"What's up, Doc? I'm guessing you're the real one!" She grinned widely towards him, ready to take him down.
The Nomu falling was reflected in his glasses as he was sweating bullets, devastated that his work was now being destroyed.
"Who's a good boy? Is it you? Yes! My little Johnny," He cradled one like a child, snuggling into it like a proud father. He then showed off one of his Nomu to All for One when asked to see them.
Garaki let out a sharp gasp and then screamed in agony as he couldn't move. Mirko moved her legs and let out a yell while swinging around. She then used her strong legs to destroy more pods, the glass falling from the impact while Nomus surrounded in blood were on the floor, dead.
"NO!" Garaki cried out upon seeing them destroyed in an instant, faster than he could fathom. He held his head, tears in his eyes upon seeing the destruction. A limp Nomu fell onto the ground. It was then he let out a scream upon watching the horror.
Ambulances were surrounding Jaku Hospital for the patients to be treated.
"Prioritize critical patients!" Mandalay called out, looking back towards Ectoplasm. "Instruct anybody who can safely walk on their own to head to the nearest official!"
"Roger!" One of the heroes carrying a patient answered back.
Suddenly, there was a crash, causing Mandalay to look back at the building. After that, she heard screaming from inside. Then, all the windows broke, causing the heroes down below to move either civilians or patients safely away from the flying glass pieces. She ran up to the broken glass.
"GO! Work faster!" Mandalay urged, hoping that they could get everyone out in time.
"Hey, team." She gasped in surprise to hear Mirko's voice. "I've got some old geezer crying over a Nomu down here," She reported while keeping her eye on Garaki.
"Is it the real Garaki?" Endeavor implored while she watched him mourn his Nomu. He hadn't even directed his attention to her. "Or is it a copy?"
"Not sure," She had reason to believe that it was him, though, given his reaction to the dead Nomu. She moved her foot, ready to fight. "But I'll know once I kick 'im."
"Your goal is to capture the doctor," Endeavor reminded the rabbit hero as he continued walking.
"After I rough him up," Mirko replied, and he knew that he wouldn't be able to stop her. Nor would anyone else for that matter...the rabbit hero tended to be very independent with her hero work, as well as ruthless. It almost reminded him of a certain blond from UA he had as a work-study student...
"Well, I'd like to say we're on our way to help you, but we've got a few issues of our own," He looked up as they were ambushed by Nomu. "They might take a minute..." Judging by the look of the Nomu, they weren't going to be put down easily...One of them growled while making his hand drills spin around, heading towards them. Mr. Aizawa flashed his glowing eye while preparing his scarf, causing the drills to stop completely. This allowed Endeavor to fly up while his fist caught on fire. "Flashfire Fist. Jetburn!" He screamed while using the attack against the creature. Once the flames disappeared, the Nomu was completely gone. He landed right back next to Mr. Aizawa. "Mirko's on top-" Before he could finish his sentence, a hand reached out to him from a Nomu.
Locklock kicked up something and put his hand on it. "Deadbolt!" He turned his hand on the bench he had used to lock it into place, dodging the attack. Endeavor flew off with his flames, and Mr. Aizawa ran in, followed by Present Mic. And there were Nomu everywhere in the lobby... "We're putting the weak ones down, but they won't stop coming!"
"The last person has been evacuated," Mandalay reported after doing a quick head count. "No need to hold back!"
Locklock then opened up a secret door for them to run into. "Come on, we gotta help Mirko!" He urged as they all went in one by one.
"Right, we will not fail our mission!" The number-six hero Crust replied bravely while leading the way.
Before Locklock could enter, a bunch of Nomu jumped up from behind. He gasped while turning around, having no time to stop it. Mr. Aizawa jumped in, using Erasure on them to stop them in place.
"JETBURN!" Endeavor shouted as he flew over, his flames pushing the creatures back. They let out a growl while being pushed into another group of Nomu, and then they burned up into a crisp. Mr. Aizawa watched him descend down. "Such a handy Quirk," He looked over his shoulder to the UA teacher. "You know, it's not too late to become one of my sidekicks."
Mr. Aizawa pushed up his goggles in annoyance. He preferred not to be a sidekick to anyone. "Yeah, that's a no," He then glanced up at the number one hero. "Who else is gonna step in and train all my useless children? Mm, well, I can admit one of them is going from useless to only mildly useless."
Endeavor gave him a small smirk, knowing that the teacher didn't mean it. Especially since four of them were his own work-study students. He could tell that despite what Mr. Aizawa said, he still cared about his students.
A growl was heard, and Endeavor turned to see even more Nomu running down the hall.
Izuka flinched and then let out a small sneeze. She looked in the direction of the hospital while they were walking up a sidewalk. Why do I get the feeling Mr. Aizawa was talking at my expense like in the past...? She didn't look too happy for the possibly correct assumption...her relationship with her homeroom teacher had gotten much better, though it was still just like in the old days a little bit. Luckily, it hadn't been nearly as bad lately.
"Is something wrong, Mido?" Ochaco noticed her look and she blinked. "I hope you're not getting sick now!"
"Oh, no, I'm okay. Just a little concerned about those in the front. I know it won't be easy," She confessed to her best friend. "They're dealing with someone who works so closely to the League, after all..." She dreaded to think what Garaki could've done had the attempt using her DNA been successful...or if they had taken her to meet him when she and Katsuki were kidnapped.
"They can do it! We should be focusing on helping people here," Izuku walked up to the girls.
"You shouldn't be thinking about them if we're not on the frontlines," Katsuki scoffed, still pissed about having to be in the back. "If I were there, things would be quicker..."
"Kacchan, you know, it's okay that you're worried about Izuka too," Izuku gave him a small smile, having a strong feeling Katsuki didn't want her thinking too much about someone dying. She had seen Sir Nighteye pass, after all...
"I said I'm not worried!" Katsuki snapped a little, turning around with a huff. "It's just stupid to have your entire mind on it." He thought back to when Izuka cried her eyes out after returning from the Hassaikai raid. When she got back that day...it took her a while to get past it. No doubt this will screw her up too. Damn it, they better be quick taking down the villains for her sake He glanced away with a silent scoff.
"...Thanks, Katsu," Izuka murmured to herself with a small smile, knowing that in his own way, he was there for her too.
The sirens from the ambulances went off as they drove away from the hospital. Koji, Tsuyu, Izuku, Ochaco, Izuka, Shoto, and Tenya all watched the vehicles go right past them. They all knew what direction that the vehicles came from.
"They must be part of the evacuation," Ochaco noted while furrowing her eyebrows.
Izuku nodded with a slight hum, looking over his shoulder. "Probably carrying the most serious patients to another hospital somewhere closeby."
"At least they'll be safe," Izuka narrowed her eyes a little.
"Attention, logistical support units," Burnin suddenly announced, getting their attention. "Team Endeavor is currently fighting inside the building."
"So they ran into villains," Izuku murmured and Izuka crossed her arms with a concerned expression, her worries now escalating. She looked a bit conflicted now as she wasn't sure how things were going to end...she should've expected that Garaki had a bunch of Nomu for them to fight if he was in hiding for many years until today.
I know I should have faith in the heroes, but it's hard to do it when there's so much on the line. I wish I didn't feel this way, but I just have a strong feeling things won't end the way we want them to... And given how this was the League with much bigger numbers, they certainly wouldn't go down easy.
"The city sent a text message to locals, ordering them to evacuate now," Burnin reported from her location. "Start clearing your assigned areas immediately."
"Uh! Right!" Izuku agreed without any hesitation. "Okay. You guys hear that?" He called out to Shoto and Tenya.
"Yeah. Let's go start our sweep," Shoto agreed with the green-haired boy.
Katsuki walked past them in frustration. "I still can't believe I'm stuck back here, helping a bunch of randos run away! Pit me against a villain!" He grunted, as he found it irritating that they didn't put him up front where he thought he should be.
"Our role is integral, Bakugo!" Tenya tried to explain to him. "Stay the course!"
Katsuki then rung the doorbell to someone else's house. "HEY, IDIOTS! THE CITY TOLD YOU TO RUN THE HELL AWAY! DID YOU NOT CHECK YOUR PHONE, OR ARE YOU JUST STUPID?!" He yelled into the receiver.
"Oh my god, Katsu! That's not how you evacuate people, you're the stupid one!" Izuka retorted as she ran up.
"WHAT?!" He yelled back down at her so loud her hair flew behind her head.
"If you stop with the attitude over not being in the front, you can train with me after all this~" She sung a little and he turned away with a huff. "You can hit me all you want and think that I'm a villain if it'll make you feel better~!" She looked up at the blond knowingly, who grunted.
"That shit doesn't work because...because nothing," He tried not to blush, covering his mouth with his fist. He was trying to hide the fact that he wouldn't actually treat her like a villain during training. Because that would've meant having to hurt her, and...he wasn't interested in using that tactic. Even if it was just training to her. Not that he'd let it slip of either that or his love for her. Which thankfully Shoto hadn't uttered a word about ever since he admitted it. Plus, the last time they trained, things got...awkward. And thinking about that was making his heart thump of a possible second time. If she was telling him this when they started UA, he would've had no problem doing it, but...he just didn't have the heart this time around.
She blinked at him in confusion wondering why the change, but didn't have the time to question it. She pressed the button herself, leaning toward the speaker. "Hello? Is anyone there? We're with the heroes of evacuating you by orders of the city!"
"I think it's best if we have Izuka and Kacchan work together on evacuating this area..." Izuku gave a sheepish chuckle, as did Ochaco in silent agreement. It was better that she stayed with him to balance out his rudeness... He then snapped out of it. "I can help Ida with the apartments around the corner," He informed the brunette, since he and Tenya were two of the fastest in their group. "That leaves the houses to the rest of you." He then ran off to go join his friend.
"We got this, guys!" Ochaco called out to the others.
"Let's go, Midoriya!" Tenya yelled while running up a street. He caught up to his friend as the two took off up the street.
Back in the secret lab at the hospital, Crust was running down the hall, where he came across some of the rooms the Nomu emerged out of to attack Mirko. These rooms look as though Nomu were held inside of them. Another passage! This is how they got below us. Those monsters upstairs didn't come from the morgue He let out a gasp as he heard growls up ahead. Soon, he could see a bunch of Nomu awaiting him down the hall. What's this? Those are common minions. Tortured souls! He already knew the origin of the Nomu, as he was briefed on them before the mission started. As much as he felt bad for the Nomu, given that Garaki used actual people for them, it also couldn't be forgotten what Nomu had done. They had terrorized the city multiple times underneath the orders of Shigaraki, after all. He gritted his teeth while letting his hands turn into crusted shields.
The number 6 hero, Crust! His Quirk: Shield! He can form them all over his body!
You were victims, but I must defeat you to catch the man who defiled you! He felt a little bad having to fight them, but he had to in order to help the team. He almost wished that there was a way to turn Nomu back into who they used to be.
Deeper inside, Mirko was chasing down Garaki. Thanks to her speed, she was able to easily catch up to him as he was running away like a coward. "First, let's find out if you're the real deal!" She declared in determination to bruise him.
He yelped upon seeing her face, knowing that there was no way he could outrun her. Nor would he able to put up much of a fight. "Yes, yes, I am! No need for violence!" He cried out; his Quirk had nothing to do with combat, so it wouldn't help him here.
"Only one way to make sure!" She declared, as she didn't believe him. He let out a scream of fear, tears flowing from his glasses.
"If Dabi had managed to retrieve Hood's corpse from Kyushu, we'd be in a far better position," Garaki stated in his lab. Shigaraki was standing right next to him as they were watching the growing Nomu together. "My other little darlings are still baking and barely in the testing stages," He glanced up at the League villain leader. "With All for One gone, it's difficult to produce more High Ends."
He slowly reached into his coat pocket.
"It took Hood ten hours just to stabilize after he was activated," He remembered showing off one of the High Ends. "This batch can fight, but ideally, they'd have half a day after waking to acclimate!"
Mirko flinched as she could see something in his hand. Before she could kick it away, a tiny Nomu hit her from behind. This caused her to barely miss as her kick still managed to rip away at his sleeve. She gasped sharply at the creature.
Garaki looked back in a panic. "Mocha!"
Mirko watched wide-eyed as Mocha had some brown sludge in front of him...almost just like Twice, in fact. Mirko growled and kicked the creature away, causing it to squeal while flying backwards. So this goblin has the Double Quirk She watched it hit a wall and then fall towards the ground.
"It's a miracle!" Garaki cried out, getting the rabbit hero's attention. He was using the device he took out from his pocket. "I can't believe you used your power without a direct order! You were protecting me, weren't you?" The Nomu around started to spark thanks to him having opened up their cages... "You're so sweet, my pet." Mirko landed as he attempted to catch his breath. "I won't let Mocha's courage and sacrifice be in vain." She gasped as she looked up, realizing what he had done. "Precious High Ends, it's time. Awaken!" He shouted and once the pods broke, liquid spilled everywhere. Mirko looked back sharply, but had no time to dodge as they pushed her back. "Slaughter this hero and those who follow!" Once they landed, one of the High Ends tossed Mirko into some pods on the second level. Some of the wires started to fall down.
"He...that's it," One of them spoke up with a gravely voice.
"Hero...it's time," One of them stated from the back.
"Been so long."
"Yes...yes."
"Can't go wild. Destroy."
One of them looked up at Mirko with bloodlust in their eyes. "Kill. All of them. Make them suffer."
"Mirko!" Crust ran into the room all of a sudden, flinching as he was immediately met with a High-End Nomu.
"You're Crust from the hero charts!" The creature recognized him on the spot. "But I forget what number you are."
The number six hero gritted his teeth, not just because of the remark, but because he wasn't told of the High-Ends and their speech capability. Then again, the heroes weren't expecting to face more of them. This one talks? He didn't want to let the creature know of his reaction, though, and activated his shields. "You're right about that, beast!" He grunted as he tried his best to hold back the large creature, even being pushed back a little. It's so...powerful!
Garaki then ran to a chair to sit in. I'm sorry you don't have more time to adjust, but I'm counting on you, High-Ends! He then disappeared into a deeper area as there was something that he had to do further down.
The group stared up ahead at where they threw Mirko, only seeing smoke. However, she was trapped in the wires for now as she moved one out of the way. "Like I'd let you escape," She declared breathlessly, some blood going down her forehead from the throw. "This is great. Now that I'm warmed up, the fun can really begin. Heh!" She licked her bloody lip a little with a smirk, more fired up than ever. If she was going to fight Nomu, she preferred for them to at least give her a challenge. Something that not many villains she had faced were able to do.
The High-End Nomu growled while pushing Crust away, as he could barely hold back the humungous beast. "Too cramped. Need more space to tear you apart!"
Some other heroes gasped once they came across the situation, as Crust was being lifted into the air, unable to break free. "The Nomu is communicating!" One of them pressed his hands together.
"Help me!" Crust cried out while looking over his shoulder. "There are more of the big ones ahead!" He then made his shields bigger to fight back. "Mirko's in trouble!"
"Your weak attacks will not save you from destruction!" The High-End Nomu mocked, and...unfortunately, it wasn't wrong. Crust and his Quirk weren't as physically strong as say Endeavor or the former number one hero All Might. That didn't mean he couldn't fight for his life if it meant helping the other heroes.
Crust gritted his teeth up at the creature. "I pity you, abomination, but we must pass." And he wished he wasn't so empathetic, but it was just in his nature...
Garaki was in his hidden room, working as fast as he could. The Nomu are created when I bioengineer human corpses and gift the reanimated beings with Quirks, He thought to himself; he wouldn't be so concerned right now if it wasn't for Mirko. They have no will of their own and can only act as they're programmed. Based on their strength and the number of Quirks they command, I split them into lower, middle, and upper tiers. In addition to Quirks, upper tiers have more than ten times the muscle of an average person The Nomu from the USJ Incident was an example of this. But another group outperforms these champions. The High-Ends. In addition to having far higher specs than the others across the board, they're capable of advanced independent thinking. Their personalities reflect the human they were before they shuffled off the mortal coil He was working on a control board. As such, All High Ends were once villains who had a strong desire for carnage. Preparing raw materials and surgically transferring abilities is a chore. And the Quirks take over three months to adhere. Without All for One's power, it's hard to mass produce these exquisite creatures. All for One was still in Tartarus, but...Garaki had a good feeling that he was at least a bit aware of what was going on. If only he could see Garaki's progress now... Currently there are five in the testing phase, but just barely. That includes the one called Woman. I'm sorry I left you behind, children, but you must protect us! We lost Warp when Johnny died and Double went with Mocha. Which means Shigaraki and I have lost our most trusted means of escape.
He seemed to be working on an entity inside of a pod that only had a fixation rate of 70 percent. He looked back in a panic, not knowing what to do. He didn't plan for this should there be an ambush...70 percent meant that there was still a chance of failure. A change he didn't know if he should take. Do I wake him? While my creations do their best against the heroes? 70 percent turned to 71 percent as he thought about what he should do. And in the pod...was Tomura Shigaraki himself, in stasis. Similar to what Nine did to himself before he went to Nabu Island. My masterpiece. Tomura Shigaraki.
One of Mirko's rabbit ears twitched as she heard something. "You're back there, aren't you?" She asked knowingly as she could hear the clicks and buttons from the control panel. "Oh, villain? I wonder what's keeping you from running further," The woman grinned as she had a feeling Garaki was staying back there for a reason. If he really wanted to escape, he would've done so already. But no...she knew that something important was back there for him to stay in the lab after leaving her to deal with the High-End Nomu. "I can hear you clacking away in the back a' the tunnel."
"How can she still move?" One of the High-Ends wondered as they stared from down below.
"Must stop the hero. I will kill her," Another one growled out.
"I cancelled out the impact of that landing...with my legs!" Mirko revealed, as her legs were very buff and could take just about any beating. Once she was out, she jumped with a big grin on her face.
The number five hero, Mirko! Her Quirk: Rabbit! She can do stuff a rabbit can, but so much better!
She landed safely behind the group of Nomu and then gave a big wild expression as she was heading for her destination. "Suckers! The old man's mine!" She declared, one of the High-Ends growling and extending an arm out. She looked back just in time to avoid it, jumping down the halls and past all of the empty pods. Another Nomu lunged for her from up ahead, and she swung around a pod to avoid it. She landed near the top of one and then ran along them with ease. One of the Nomu went towards her, but she jumped out of the way, landing on all fours. She grunted as she was barely to dodge an attack, swinging her leg to prevent her from getting hit. Mirko slid to a safe stop, missing another attack from a third High-End Nomu. She let out a sharp gasp as she saw the bloodlust look from its eyes.
"Must kill her!" It declared in a raspy voice, having attacked her using the top of its head. "That's the order that our master gave to us."
"She must die!" Another one hissed as they all started to surround her.
"Hero!"
She noticed them and swung up her legs. "Not a chance!" She shouted while kicking them away using her strong legs. The one that had a hold on her arms swung her around with a growl. She then swung her legs, forming a yellow ring light-like attack at the Nomu. "Luna Ring!" However, she did get nicked in the knee, blood coming from them. She could see that her attack did injure the two Nomu that she attacked, but they still weren't down yet. "Got 'im. But not enough. Dumb bastards!" She remarked in almost like a Katsuki way. "Outta the way!" She jumped from another attempted attack, rolling along and destroying the limbs that caught her earlier. The Nomu that had her in its grasps growled while opening up its body to reveal a spider-like body. Someone held out a hand, causing her left arm to twitch and then get twisted up, breaking it. But this still wasn't enough to deter her.
"Why does she not give up?" The High-End Nomu responsible for thoroughly breaking her arm wondered, having used telekinesis on her. It used this Quirk to break her arm further and she let out a battle-like yell. It clenched a fist and her left arm was basically unusable now. However, she swung down her leg to attack the one with the spider-like body, blood pooling from her arm.
"Luna Fall!" She cried out, not wanting them to see her pain. She jumped away and spun around in the air, going towards the High-End Nomu that broke her arm. She then grabbed its head with her legs. "Creeps like you who only ever attack from a distance...are always weakest when it comes to close combat," She recited with a big grin.
"You will die," He declared while its eyes shined yellow.
"Sure," She retorted back while moving her head away from the laser, unfazed by the threat. "When it's time to die, I will!" She swung her body around, keeping her hold on its head with her legs. "That makes me human!" She then ripped the head away from the body, taking the Nomu down easily once they landed and causing a huge impact. She jumped and landed on another Nomu using her legs. "Luna Tijeras!" She kept her big grin on her face while landing. The thing about Mirko was...she refused to let herself die, letting nothing stop her from fighting. Because that was just who she was; never backing down and never regretting a damn thing. Because if she gave up now and let the Nomu kill her...then that meant she didn't fight hard enough. "Can't ignore this busted arm if I wanna keep doing my job," Mirko murmured while using her hair to tie up her arm, which was...dark purple and twisted. So it was safe to say that she couldn't use it anymore. As long as she still got to fight, she would have to deal with it for now.
"Hero filth," Some of the High Ends stood up, staring up ahead at their dead comrade. And of course, they were pissed.
"How dare you!"
"Looks like crushing your heads will stop ya," Mirko remarked while looking at what was left of the Nomu that she killed. "Makes you easier to deal with than some random villain with unknown weaknesses," She slowly got onto her feet, panting hard. She was bloodied, scratched up, and bruised, but she could not care less. "I live every day as if I'm not gonna see another one. That way, I'll have no regrets when I die. Heh! But you zombies are out of luck. Mirko's not going down!" She refused to let them potentially escape to hurt other people, so she was not going to let them get the upper hand on her. Mirko was confident that she would win, even if her limbs continued to get broken.
"Update!" One of the operators called out from the base. "The Garaki we captured turned out to be a fake."
"Mirko appears to be chasing the actual doctor," Another one reported while the Public Safety Commissioners were starting to look very worried.
"Endeavor remains on the ground floor fighting more Nomu!"
"Yes, and the team has confirmed that multiple High-Ends have joined the fray." An alarm was going off as multiple screens were on display of the action.
"Team Edgeshot is advancing now. They're about to proceed with their raid on the Gunga Villa."
Edgeshot's Advance Guard team was moving through the forest for the element of surprise. They had yet to reach their location, but they were keeping an eye out. Thanks to the intel from Hawks, the group had to be extra careful because of Skeptic...and because of Slidin' Go's involvement, they didn't want to take any chances if there were other pro heroes who weren't spies like Hawks. Not to mention, there could be guards around the area, or they could get ambushed.
Meanwhile, the rear guard of Edgeshot's team were waiting on standby.
"It's almost time," Hanta spoke up gravely, knowing that it was going to be brutal since they were dealing with some high stakes... "Stand up, Grape Juice."
"Why bother?" Minoru retorted with a shrug. "The rear guard's job is to catch any bad guys who slip past the heroes out front. It would basically be like an insult to the pros if we looked like we expected them to miss some villains." More like he just wanted to take it easy for a change...for once, he just wanted a mission or an event to go smoothly since in the past, they hadn't.
"Off your butt!" Hanta retorted to him in annoyance as he wasn't hearing it today. Sometimes, it was times like this that he just had to stop and wonder what Minoru did to get into UA...
"It's beginning now," One of the heroes nearby reported, getting their attention.
"Well jeez, thanks for the warning!" Minoru yelped at him in a panic. If he had stalled any longer, Hanta might've threatened him with siccing Katsuki on the boy...
Meanwhile, behind everyone, Momo and Kyoka were together, the latter listening for any movements. Her earphone jack wiggled in the grass and she looked up a bit anxiously. "Okay, they're on the move," She whispered to her friend.
"Look alive," The tiger-like hero ordered, clenching a fist. "An unprecedented number of heroes have gathered for this. Nevertheless, you should all stay on high alert. Think of it this way." They all turned to up ahead. "We had to recruit this many pros because the enemy is that dangerous."
"Tokoyami's probably fine," Kyoka gave a worried look; she already knew from previous encounters and from the intel that the League would not go down easily. So even though she knew her classmates up there were strong...she was unsure of the outcome. "So maybe Kaminari is too." Kyoka had seen first hand that Denki could be a bit of a coward sometimes. But even then, he always came through in the end...She gasped as Momo bent down to her, a hand on her friend's shoulder. She gave Kyoka a small reassuring nod, agreeing with her but also silently trying to comfort her. Momo could be just as worried for her classmates, but she had to put her faith in them.
"I'm sure he'll be okay. You'll see."
The front team were now running for the Gunga Villa, seeing a light up ahead as they were almost there. "I think I might throw up," Denki confessed as he was dreading the encounter. Although Kamui Woods, Edgeshot, and Fat Gum were ready. But for him, he was directly encountering villains, and while his Quirk was better controlled...he still feared that he might mess something up for the team. "This is so scary!" Cementoss, Suneater, and Yoroi Musha ran together...but Denki was probably the only one of the front team still apprehensive. And he was kind of wishing that he was in the rear guard right about now. "Dang. I miss the rest a' Class A!" He confessed with tears in his eyes; he even missed Katsuki right about now.
"You consented to this job before the mission began," Midnight reminded the boy while running right next to him. She had to wonder what his thought process was when he heard about it. It could be just chalked up to wanting to look cool for the others...
"Well, yeah," He turned to the teacher in a panic. "Of course! How was I supposed to say no when everybody was there watching me? I didn't want them to see what a coward I can be sometimes..."
"I'm sorry, but we do need your power," Her eyes softened a bit at his dismay right now, feeling just a little bad for him. Being terrified for others like Kinoko was one thing, but being scared for their own lives was another. She almost wished that they didn't have to put so much on the line for the students. "Just tell yourself that we useless adults need your aid." As much as she didn't want to fuel his ego, it was something she thought he could do.
"No! It's so much worse if I think the pros can't handle this without me!" He looked back up ahead in terror, sweating bullets.
"Kaminari," Fumikage spoke up, causing him to look up wide-eyed.
"You scared too?" He wondered to his bird-headed classmate in front of him.
"During the school festival...I discovered the real you while we played guitar together," He referred to all of their band practices. "You are an incredible person. And let's not forget...our own classmate Mido was just like you when she had to perform. You can overcome this just like she would." After all, Izuka was very adamant and terrified of having to be front and center during the School Festival. But if she could overcome her fear, Denki certainly could as well.
"How does being a guitar god or having someone like Mido in our class help?" Denki cried out in dismay.
"Not the point," Fumikage retorted, hoping that he could get a grip on himself soon...
The front area of the Gunga Villa was practically empty. "Open up!" Cementoss slid on his knees, pressing his hands to the ground. While doing so, he created a wave of cement to rush towards the doors.
Skeptic was of course watching, typing on his laptop while running. "An enemy attack? Perfect. This is all your fault, Bubaigawara!" He hissed while running past people, who had no idea what he was talking about. "Where'd you go?" He searched through multiple areas, looking panicked. "Damn it! This is terrible timing! The whole organization's in trouble." The last thing they needed was an attack when their grand commander wasn't around.
Twice stretched his arms after hearing out Hawks. "We gotta get ya in front a' Shigaraki so he knows you're legit!"
"Seriously," Hawks turned back to the whiteboard. "Kinda weird that I haven't gotten to talk to him."
"That's because he's off getting stronger. He'll be in the mountains near Kyoto for four months," Twice revealed, causing Hawks to look at him attentively. Shigaraki was currently busy with Garaki, and said to the others that it would take a while before he'd be back. "Whoops, that's a secret. Though I'm sure that long-haired spy heard me." He wouldn't be surprised to find out if Skeptic was still keeping an eye on him or the League after the merger. Since he didn't like Shigaraki now being the prime leader and all...
Skeptic did in fact hear him as he had an array of screens in front of him from a secret room for surveillance.
"Ya big creep!"
"After that idiocy...I made sure to watch Hawks even more closely," He hissed angrily, wanting to reprimand Twice himself. Or better yet, report him to the higher ups to get him out. "But not a single thing he did seemed suspicious. He tricked me!" He was now pissed at not just Twice, but Hawks for managing to keep up the facade of being a fellow member for so long. And he didn't want to get blamed for not seeing it sooner. Once the truth was out, he was debating using this as leverage to swap out Shigaraki for Re-Destro. "No, I'm not to blame! That fool is! THE HEROES ARE COMING!" He shouted at the top of his lungs as a warning. Before he could do anything else, there was a big crash in front of him, splitting up the wall in half. The debris then started to move on its own.
"The concrete's moving like it's alive!" One of the members gritted his teeth, knowing that it wasn't coming from any of them. None of them had the Quirk to do so, and especially not on this level.
"What's happening?!" Someone else cried out as the ceiling started to fall.
"Our meeting is cancelled!" Skeptic shouted to everyone who could hear. "Regiments assemble! They're attacking head-on!" The wall then started to completely come apart as it was going back to being made out of mortar. "Violet and Black to the front. Brown unit, join them. Carmine, stay put for now!"
"They got us good, didn't they, Mr. Skeptic?" He flinched from the voice, turning around to see someone approach him. "Let's go light 'em up, huh?" Electricity came from his smoking cigarette.
Cementoss was putting everything he had into his power, growling as he was the one splitting apart the villa into sections. Inside, people were running away as the walls came apart, the ceiling falling into pieces.
Meanwhile, Mr. Compress, Himiko, and Spinner looked up in alarm, having heard the commotion from their room.
"They're here!"
Geten ran off while Dabi was standing calmly, looking at the chaos. He then started to walk off as if nothing was happening.
Those who had made it out into the hall saw the big hole in the wall that Cementoss made. The smoke cleared to reveal all the heroes behind Cementoss approaching. "L-Look!"
"Is that...?"
"Not one villain gets away!" Edgeshot shouted to his team. "They'll give their lives to bring down society! If we miss a single person, the world is danger!" While people were moving to attack, Denki was still looking around scared as if he didn't know what to do. He knew that he was needed in the front team, but...he had no idea if he could do this. "We attack to protect!"
"Charge!" He gasped as Midnight ran over to him, knowing that he still had some hesitation. "Try not to get overwhelmed, kid."
"Uh, sure thing, Ms. Midnight," He replied as calmly as he could, though he was still dreading being in the front guard.
"If protecting the world is hard for you to gear up for, here's a trick you can use," She advised, giving him a small smile. "Just imagine you're really protecting whatever is most dear to your heart."
He looked at her in shock and then gave it a bit of thought, rubbing his chin as two classmates came to mind. "So...like how Bakugo views Mido," He murmured and Midnight blinked, giving a small smile. He knew that from all of the times that Katsuki protected her, that he kept Izuka dear to his heart. Even if he would continue to deny it until he was dead. So who was that for him? Someone that he really wanted to protect. "That would be..." He came to a stop as he realized who it was. He looked back wide-eyed as he was looking in the direction of the rear guard. Past all of those people, the trees, and foliage...the person he wanted to protect that was dear to his heart...was Kyoka.
"I know you can do this...Chargebolt." He imagined her saying to him right now. The wind blew in his hair, knowing that if he didn't do anything to stop the villains from their end...they'd make their way to Kyoka. And he couldn't let that happen to her.
"If protecting the world is hard for you to gear up for, here's a trick you can use. Just imagine you're really protecting whatever is most dear to your heart."
He growled to himself, clenching an angry fist. Even though he was still scared...even though he didn't want to be in the front...he wanted to pull through for Kyoka. If he didn't...then he wouldn't be protecting her.
"This happened because we were waiting for Shigaraki," The Liberation member with the cigarette pointed out with a small smirk, walking up. "But we don't have time for that anymore." He gripped a stun gun as it sparked. "Now, it begins! Liberation and revolution!"
"The vice commander's doing his thing!" Someone called out in realization as the stun gun went to the man's hand.
"Don't get caught in the attack!"
"Your numbers are meaningless when facing my Quirk!" The electricity villain declared while the power sparked from around his body. "My Amplivolt reigns supreme, a power that electrifies any who stand in the way of my will!" He now had arms made out of electricity, his cape flying behind him.
"A wide-range attack!" Edgeshot realized what was going on, his eyes narrowed.
Denki flinched at the danger upcoming and jumped in. He managed to zip past everyone, to the shock of Midnight.
Fumikage, despite seeing this, wasn't alarmed at all. Because he knew his classmate was capable of this. Kaminari. I know the truth.
"O-Ow," Denki winced at his hand while practicing guitar with Fumikage.
"Shall we call it a day, you think?" He wondered to the blond.
"Hm. Nah, I got more practice in me," Denki replied confidently with a small smile. He then reached out to the strings again. "Jiro's way into this music stuff. She's super passionate about it. Plus...Mido's sacrificing a lot to do this for a lot of people, even though we both know she's still against it." He gave a bright smile. "We gotta make this a great show for the both of them!"
You are kind He thought while watching Denki run off. You would do anything for your friends
Denki adjusted his shades, gritting his teeth as he ran. The electricity villain growled while powering up. "Supreme Discharge. Thundernet!" He then fired off a huge wave of it towards the group, and it headed for Edgeshot first. Denki held up his finger and absorbed the attack, much to the shock of the villain. The hell? The attack is being absorbed? And sure enough, it was going straight into Denki's body as like a shock absorber.
"Aw, yeah!" He grinned confidently, as he felt like he could handle it now. "That's one scary leader rendered powerless. Ha!"
Midnight and Fumikage smiled proudly at him stepping up like a real hero. "He did it."
"Good boy," Midnight smiled a little towards Denki.
"Alright, pros, you think you can finish this up really quick? I don't want anyone in the back worrying about us," He informed the rest of his team. Well, in actuality, he didn't want to worry Kyoka.
Cementoss gave him a thumbs up. "Incredible, Charge. Well done!"
"Thanks!" Denki replied back with his big grin still on his face. "Just glad I could help!"
