LivingstoneBramble: oh stop it, you're making me blush! Thank you, it's the voices in my head lol
April: hehe thank yoou, I'm glad cause it was meant to be fun, phew! They deserve a little fun after what I put them through in book two lol and yes, yes, drunk Raven is a vibe. She might be back sooner than you think too lol. Oh and...I will make no comments on that last topic except that nothing about me is conventional and nothing about these two in this story will be either haha.
Thanks to everyone who's reading and special thanks to those who favorited/followed! xD
Tightrope
They met for brunch the next day, still in Vegas because Raven was too hungover to teleport yet.
"I'll heal myself soon and then we can go." She said calmly before eating some eggs. She didn't usually eat in the morning, but in this case, she needed to get her energy back.
"No worries. Hey, I'd say this trip was a huge success, huh?" Kid Flash chuckled, being one of the few people who didn't have a headache.
"Yeah, we even got Raven drunk without exploding Vegas!" Jinx joked light-heartedly, but she rubbed her temples anyway, because she did have a headache.
The empath sipped her tea and shrugged stoically while Donna and Kara gave her congratulatory pats on the back for not causing accidental havoc. "Yay me."
The conversation quickly shifted to theories on what the next big bad menace in town would be, so Garfield decided it was time to talk to her.
He leaned closer and whispered to Raven. "Can we talk?"
"Sure." She stood up and walked away, knowing he would wait a few minutes and follow. She turned around to face him once they were alone. "So did you have fun last night?"
The shapeshifter smiled cheekily. "Not as much as you, I think."
Raven grunted. "This is about that picture, isn't it? It seemed like a good idea at the time."
He chuckled softly and pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I mean, if the point was to tease me mercilessly and turn me on, it totally worked."
"It kind of was. To be transparent, I was very drunk."
"Well I'm terribly sorry I missed that."
She rolled her eyes. "So, did you behave?"
"I did. I didn't do anything. Do I get my lap dance?" Garfield grinned wickedly.
Raven smiled slightly. "Give me a day or two to recover."
He felt excitement building up in his stomach. "Awesome. Oh, and…it was hot for sure, but just so you know, that pic also made me a little jealous."
She frowned in confusion. "Seriously?"
The shapeshifter shamelessly smiled down at her breasts, though now they were covered by a turtleneck. "Yeah of course, I mean, those are usually just for me."
She huffed playfully. "They are. I assumed Terra didn't count."
Garfield chuckled light-heartedly. "And I get that. Like I said, it was hot. But yeah it also made me feel territorial. I'm not complaining, I'm just…communicating, I guess."
Raven smiled flirtatiously. "Yeah but what doesn't make you feel territorial?"
He just gave her right butt cheek a light squeeze and she gasped in outrage and pushed him off of her as she looked around, but it was still playful.
"We're in public, Garfield."
The Changeling chuckled again. "My bad. You're just so irresistible."
She rolled her eyes. "I'm sure you can find the strength to resist me."
"I'll do my best." He smiled affectionately. "And Rae?"
"Yes, Gar?"
"I wouldn't have done anything last night either way."
"Oh, so you don't want the lap dance?" She teased.
"That is not what I said. I definitely want it." Garfield quickly clarified. "I'm just saying, you don't have to. And I wouldn't have done anything. You're the only one I want."
Raven tilted her head slightly and smiled at him again. "Exclusive ruler of your heart?"
"Always." The Changeling said sincerely, looking into her eyes. Her smile widened and his heart tightened a little, because he still needed to ask her something. "So, other than a body shot with my ex, did you, uh…do anything? You can tell me, it's cool."
Garfield was really hoping she hadn't done anything, but he was still adamantly set on never demanding anything from her ever again, so if she had, he would deal with it.
Raven chuckled slightly. "Of course not. I told you, you're safe with me."
His heart soared and his toothy, gigantic grin found its way to his lips. Those words. Those words made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside, since he actually believed them now. He wanted to profess his undying love, but he thought maybe that could overwhelm her. "I'm not ruining this again, you know? I promise." Garfield whispered. "You're safe with me too."
A few lightbulbs exploded and people screamed. Raven just kept her eyes locked with his and whispered back. "I know, love."
Days passed by peacefully until Raven approached him on the couch where he was absentmindedly strumming his ukulele one afternoon. Garfield looked up at her and smiled. "Where have you been?"
The empath sat down on the armrest and lazily rested a hand on his shoulder. "Dress shopping with Kory, Terra and Bumble. You know, for the wedding."
"Oh! So you've all picked your dresses and stuff?"
"Mmhm. Starfire's is stunning."
"I'm sure." He continued smiling at her. "Do you like yours?"
"Very much. I think you will too."
"Can I see it?"
"Sure. At the wedding." She chuckled lightly when he whined cutely. "Stop pouting and play some more of that pocket-size guitar of yours."
The Changeling's eyes glistened with joy. "You wanna hear me play?"
The empath nodded. "Play something for me, Gar."
Play something FOR ME, she said. Garfield's stomach instantly filled with butterflies. He straightened up and turned his body slightly so that he was facing her now. "Sure thing, my dark queen!"
Raven rolled her eyes at his cheeky grin. But then he started playing and singing All My Loving (The Beatles) to her. It was light-hearted, cute and charming, but it was also what he wished he'd said to her when she wanted to leave, so there was a depth and sincerity to it. She picked up on it. Raven watched him lovingly and allowed her heart to flutter. A glass or two may have exploded in the kitchen.
"I will send to you…" The Changeling finished his song with a dreamy grin.
Salem rubbed against his legs and meowed approvingly. Garfield picked him up and caressed his fur.
Raven had a look of sheer adoration all over her face at this point. "That was amazing."
"Yeah?" He looked up at her again. "I'm just inspired, I guess."
"Well so am I now." She leaned closer to whisper to him. "I think I still owe you a lap dance."
The shapeshifter's mouth hung open and his eyes widened. He recovered nicely after a second or two and whispered to her. "Wait, that's actually happening!?"
The sorcerer smiled seductively. "I'll be in your room in twenty minutes."
Holy fucking shit oh my GOD. The Changeling waited for her to float away and placed her kitten on the floor next to Krypto then ran to his room to check himself in the mirror before she got there. In exactly twenty minutes, he sniffed her scent through the door.
"Can I come in?"
"Don't you dare not come in now."
Raven chuckled, phased through the door and dimmed the lights.
Garfield noticed her cloak was hiding her body entirely and raised an eyebrow. "Again, love, you don't have to do this. I'd be more than happy just making out."
"Well that's not going to work, because now I've prepared for this, you see?"
He smiled and narrowed his eyes at the same time. "What do you mean?"
"I bought something else today. And honestly, you better like it…" Raven removed her cloak, dropping it on the floor.
The Changeling's brain malfunctioned. She was wearing sexy black lingerie and a leather body harness over it. It was without a doubt the sexiest sight he had ever laid eyes on. He could hear his heart pounding loudly in his ears and feel his chest burning with desire. She put that on for ME. Garfield's mouth hung open and he instantly dropped to his knees.
"…okay, good. You like it." The empath smirked.
"Oh…my…Goddess…" Garfield reached for her hand and pulled her closer, still on his knees, and held onto her hips while placing devoted kisses on her belly. "You're gonna give me a heart attack…" He muttered lustfully against her skin.
Raven's face flushed as she exploded one of his lightbulbs. "Ah, sorry."
"Explode whatever you want. Explode my entire room, I don't give a fuck." The shapeshifter continued whispering lovingly as he hugged her body tighter.
The empath chuckled softly. "Stop worshipping me and go sit on your bed. That's an order."
The Changeling smiled up at her in the cheekiest possible way and did as he was told. As soon as he sat down he went back to admiring the view, taking a deep breath to cool down because she really did look absurdly hot. And then Genie in a Bottle (Christina Aguilera) started playing and Raven began slowly moving her hips in sensual, sinuous moves, with a sensual glint in her eyes. The way she was moving was very similar to belly-dancing and he had no idea where or when she'd learned that, but it was absolutely hypnotizing.
Raven could sense how aroused he was, watching her with those dilated pupils of his, and it made her bolder. After the first chorus, she danced towards him in that same seductive way and sat on his lap, straddling him. He placed his hands on her hips as she moved them provocatively, running her fingers through his hair.
The shapeshifter stared at her body in awe and then looked up into her eyes with an absolutely passionate smile on his face. And she knew this boy loved her. He loved her so much. She bent her back backwards until her hair was touching the ground in an impressive display of flexibility, while he ran a hand over her exposed stomach. The sorcerer slowly pulled herself back up until she was face to face with him again.
She smiled teasingly. "Having fun?"
"I fucking love you so much." He whispered in utter ecstasy.
"I know, love. I love you too. My heart is yours."
Garfield stared into her eyes. "It is?"
She nodded. "You're still the only one I want, Gar."
The shapeshifter pulled her close and wrapped his arms around her body so tightly she could barely move, burying his face in her chest and inhaling. "My heart is yours too. I'm all yours."
The power went out in the entire tower. Raven chuckled softly into his hair. "I guess I should have turned my powers off for this."
"Teleport us to your room so we can finish this, please."
The next few weeks were blissful. Damian had been busy working some stuff out with Batman and so Richard asked Garfield to step in. And that is how Starfire, Nightwing, Changeling and Raven found themselves doing a lot of wedding planning activities together and a lot of it felt like double dates. They always had an insane amount of fun.
"BB? Rae? You ready?" Dick called his friends. "C'mon, Kor will meet us there."
"In a minute!" The empath told him before turning her attention to the shapeshifter again. "Huyu kijana wa kijani ananipenda."
"Yes!" Garfield beamed at her. "Much better!"
"What did you just teach me?" Raven raised an eyebrow at him. "What did I just say?"
The Changeling chuckled breezily. "This green boy loves me."
The sorcerer rolled her eyes and pushed him lightly. "Idiot."
Raven and Garfield had been learning a lot from each other. He actually managed to successfully pull her into the Red with him after a few tries. Not just mentally, but physically. They would often disappear for a few hours after being excused by Nightwing to explore the Red together. She adored every second of it. From the very first time she was there, Raven was absolutely amazed. She felt connected to everything; to every living being's emotions in every world, but somehow it wasn't overwhelming.
Not to mention it made her feel closer to Garfield than ever and sense his power in a way she never had before. Seeing him in that light made her fall in love even harder. It was such a spiritual experience and the Changeling, on his end, loved sharing it with her. The way she looked at him when they were there was something else – he'd never seen that much admiration in her eyes and it filled him with pride and courage.
"You're amazing." She would say, smiling at him as her long, purple hair gently floated around, the interdimensional force that was the source of his powers fully embracing her.
"You're amazing." He would reply, standing tall with a blissful grin on his face.
When she wasn't learning Swahili or visiting the Red – or helping Starfire plan her wedding, or meditating, or taking solitary walks to get away – Raven would teach him about Buddhism, Demonology, Psychology and Sorcery – they would go deeper when discussing magical and demonic species he could turn into and she would explain the mystical aspects of their power to him. Garfield didn't love learning and studying as much as she did, but he adored the clever way she explained things, especially when she was passionate about them. And he certainly enjoyed turning into otherworldly creatures and accessing magic through them – it made him feel closer to her.
Raven stood up and turned to Nightwing. "So what are we doing today?"
"Food tasting." Dick answered, smiling at them.
Garfield jumped to his feet. "Will there be vegan food!?"
Nightwing rolled his eyes. "Yeah, man. Obviously I won't let you starve at my wedding."
The shapeshifter grinned enormously. "In that case what are we waiting for?!"
After at least two hours of delicious food and light-hearted conversation, Raven was still refusing the drinks.
"Will you relax? I know you got drunk in Vegas and nothing bad happened." Nightwing chuckled. "I mean, unless you count that body shot."
The empath flushed and turned to Garfield. "Did everyone see that?"
The shapeshifter shook his head. "Just him, Nightwing and Kid Flash. But I didn't mean them to, I swear. Kid Flash yanked the phone from my hand."
"Oh. Okay. Remind me to kill him later." Raven said as she tried the steak entrée. "Mmm. This is really good." As soon as she said it, she turned to Garfield. She did usually try not to relish in eating meat in front of him. So she swallowed and gave him an apologetic shrug. "Sorry."
The Changeling grinned at her, pushing the vegan entrée in her direction. "I'll forgive you if you try this one too!"
Raven rolled her eyes, but took a bite of the mushrooms and vegetables anyway. She shot him an approving smile while she chewed, because it really did taste good.
"You love it! You totally love it, don't you?!" He said excitedly.
The empath smirked. "As you know, I reserve that word for special occasions. But I really like it."
The Changeling blushed, making Starfire giggle. Raven continued to refuse drinks because she said someone had to stay sober and make sure everything actually tasted good. By the time they finished desserts, everyone was beyond satisfied. Well, except for Kory.
"Oh, is that it?" Starfire pouted. When her friends frowned quizzically at her, she smiled coyly. "I suppose when you only have one stomach, that is quite enough."
Raven straightened up and addressed the chef. "Oh, that's right. She has nine. So we'll need a lot more food. She freaks out when she's hungry."
Nightwing quickly nodded. "Yeah. We definitely don't want that."
Kory grinned innocently at the chef's worried face.
Garfield chuckled. "Also, Galfore has nine stomachs too. And he's huge."
They took several minutes deciding a menu. Starfire really liked the weirdest dishes but she was the bride, so agreeing on something that would please her and everyone else wasn't that simple. But they managed, because the four of them had never been closer or more in sync.
"Hey, we should continue this." Dick said casually as they left. "This double-dating thing. We should do it more often, after the wedding and everything."
Kory gasped. "I used to suggest that all the time! You three never settled on something for us to do together!"
Richard chuckled. "Yes, and of course, you were right, babe."
Garfield bit his lip and waited for Raven to point out they weren't officially together so technically this wasn't double-dating.
"Well it has been fun so…sure." The empath said plainly.
The Changeling's heart skipped a beat. Raven sensed his contentment and smiled slightly.
"So when's the bridal shower again?" Nightwing asked Raven.
"In two weeks."
The Titan leader turned to the shapeshifter. "Are we on, man?"
When they found out Starfire's bridal shower would happen on a boat and it would be pretty fancy, Garfield and Richard nearly pouted and quickly decided to make an arcade day out of it so they didn't get too jealous.
The Changeling grinned. "Oh we are so on!"
And so two weeks later, Koriand'r found herself squealing happily at her shower's decorations and appetizers. The boat looked like something out of a whimsical fairytale and the pink lemonade was probably her favorite drink on Earth. All the girls were having a lot of fun too. The only thing Raven had run by Starfire was whether or not to invite Barbara – to which Kory said yes, because she didn't want to hold a grudge anymore. But everything else was a huge surprise to her – and she loved every bit of it.
"You really went all out with this." Bumblebee raised an eyebrow at the empath. "Did Gar pay for all this too?"
Raven whispered to her. "Don't tell anyone but I actually just conjured a lot of this stuff."
Karen chuckled. "So will there be games?"
"Of course."
The first game was Bridal Shower Jeopardy. Terra, Pantha, Argent, Ravager and Donna Troy were a team, going up against Supergirl, Batgirl, Jinx, Bumblebee and J'onn J'onzz's niece, who had only just arrived on Earth – Miss Martian they called her. Starfire was ridiculously entertained.
"Okay." Raven cleared her throat again. "The answer is, when Starfire landed on Earth and they first met."
Kory raised her hand up in the air. "Oh, I know!"
Jinx rang the buzz. She kept shooting discreet bad luck blasts at the other team so her team always got to answer first. "Star, for the tenth time, that's not how the game works. You can't answer trivia about your own relationship."
The Tamaranean smiled sheepishly as Jinx's team discussed their answer amongst them.
Bumblebee turned to Raven. "The first time Nightwing thought she was hot?"
The empath shook her head. "I'm sure that's also true, but no."
Terra had an epiphany and rang the buzz. "When did they first kiss is the question, right?"
Raven smiled and nodded and the blonde beamed proudly while her team complimented her and the other team grunted in frustration.
"Wait, wasn't that in Tokyo?" Supergirl asked.
Karen shook her head. "No, actually, she kissed him to learn English when they met. And I knew that! Ugh."
After a few more rounds, Raven declared the score was a tie and this would be the final answer. She cleared her throat again. "At least by Earth standards, it's definitely Nightwing."
Everyone knew that one. Jinx eagerly rang the buzz. "Who's the better cook?"
The empath nodded and the enchantress high-fived her teammates and celebrated.
Terra narrowed her eyes. "I still think they cheated somehow…"
The next game was Write Her Vows, so Raven went around the party with a card, asking guests for adjectives, nouns and verbs to fill in the blanks. In the end she gave Kory the card to read out loud.
Starfire cleared her throat and smiled. "I, Koriand'r, take you, Nightwing, to be my paranoid husband, my constant dick…" She giggled and turned red as everyone else laughed at the dirty joke with Richard's name. "…and my physically fragile partner from this day forward. In the presence of Trigon the Terrible, our pets and batarangs, I offer you my horny vow, to be your quirky alien in sickness and in Batman's wealth, in good times and in apocalypses." The Tamaranean stopped to chuckle at the ridiculousness of it all before continuing. "I promise to annoy you unconditionally and to always hog the covers and snore. Most importantly, I look forward to the next life-threatening event of our lives."
Everyone clapped and laughed whole-heartedly.
"Those actually turned out pretty good." Terra joked.
Starfire giggled. "I believe I kind of love them!"
Raven had a subtle, amused smile on her face the whole time. She found the entire party extremely silly, but Kory was having a blast so it was all good. "Just to be clear, you can't use those at the actual wedding."
Starfire pouted playfully, making the empath roll her eyes fondly. They had fun for a while longer, enjoying the view, having cake and watching the sunset before heading back.
Later that day, Raven heard him knock on her door. "Come in."
The shapeshifter stepped inside her room. "So how was it?"
"She loved it."
He smiled. "That's good, right?"
"Of course."
The Changeling narrowed his eyes at her for a few seconds. "You're really tired from all the social interactions, aren't you?"
She stared at him with a blank face for a few seconds and then exhaled. "I'm exhausted."
Garfield chuckled. "Well it's almost over. The wedding is only a few days away. And if it helps, you're killing it with the whole maid of honor thing."
Raven smiled slightly. "It helps. Thanks."
"So do you want to be alone?"
"Yes, actually."
The Changeling grinned and turned to leave. "Okay, no problem! Get some rest, yeah? I'll see you tomorrow."
And then just as he was about to walk out...
"Gar?"
He stopped and turned around slightly. "Yeah?"
"Could you maybe come back in like two hours?"
The Changeling beamed at her as his heart fluttered. "It's a date."
Nightwing and Starfire's wedding seemed to come sooner than they expected. Garfield had hoped he could spend some time with Raven at this, especially after he saw her all stunning in that long purple dress with that half-updo hairstyle and those full lips, but she was so insanely busy running around to make sure everything was perfect he'd barely seen her. And when he did see her, she was distracted and stressed about something that was slightly less than perfect. Her collarbone and shoulders were exposed and he desperately wanted some alone time with her, but it seemed impossible.
And then he saw her leaning against the wall, totally alone, and apparently taking a break – though she was still frowning. The Changeling smiled widely and approached her. "You look amazing." He whispered. "But you don't look so happy."
Raven sighed. "I've dealt with ten different crises already. Besides, I hate these shoes."
Garfield looked at her feet. She was wearing high heels. "No combat boots tonight?"
She rolled her eyes and smiled slightly. "I'm the maid of honor. I don't think I could get away with it this time."
"Kory wouldn't mind it if you came in your uniform. You know that, right?"
The empath smiled a little wider. "Yes but then everyone would be talking about that and tonight is all about her." She chuckled slightly. "And, you know, a little about Dick."
Garfield stared fondly at her. "Right. That's sweet of you."
"Not really. I just-"
"RAVEN!" Terra came running in, with a desperate look on her face.
The empath immediately straightened up. "What is it now?"
"I-it's…" An unusually pale Terra stuttered. "It's the d-dress."
Raven's eyes widened.
"What's wrong with the dress?!" Garfield squeaked. Even he knew how serious that was.
Terra started panting. "It…it's ruined. We were just having a teeny-tiny glass of wine…"
"I told you all to drink before she put on the dress." Raven said pointedly.
"No, we did! But then Jinx wanted to see the dress so Kory got it and-"
"Okay, fine." The empath rubbed her temples. "It doesn't matter. I'll fix it."
Terra bit her lip. "The thing is, uh…well, we didn't want to upset you…so we tried to fix it ourselves…"
"Terra, where is the dress now?" Honestly, I am surrounded by children.
"You see, trying to clean it only made it worse so we thought maybe Jinx could fix it, but she was a little light-headed and…well…it's gone. There is no dress."
The empath nodded slowly, doing her best to hide how annoyed she was – she didn't really succeed. She shot Garfield a look. "Excuse me."
The Changeling immediately nodded. He knew that if the dress was ruined, flirting would definitely have to wait. "No, don't worry about it. Go."
Raven stepped inside the bridal room to see Starfire on the verge of tears. It instantly softened her up. "Kor, it will be okay."
A desperate gasp escaped the Tamaranean's lips. "How!?"
The empath sighed. "I'll just make you a new one."
Kory immediately stopped despairing and stared at her friend with hopeful eyes. "You will!? Do you have the energy for that?"
Raven nodded and focused, stretching her arms forward.
"Wait!" Jinx squeaked.
The empath froze and turned to the enchantress, just like every other girl in the room.
"If you're pulling a Fairy Godmother I think a magic wand is required."
Raven rolled her eyes, but then she noticed how Jinx's giddy suggestion made Starfire's eyes glisten. "Seriously, Kor?"
"I mean, that would be cute." Terra pointed out in an amused voice.
Bumblebee just chuckled apologetically at Raven.
"That's okay, friend." Kory said sadly. "It would just be such a magical moment!"
Raven sighed and conjured a silver wand in her hand. "There. Happy?"
Starfire beamed at her.
"Hold up!" Donna shouted when Raven went to do her thing again.
The empath grunted. "Now what?"
Wonder Girl pulled out a phone to film it. "Okay, go!"
Raven rolled her eyes and lifted her hands again.
"Say the words!" Ravager shouted, fighting back laughter. "Not your words, the other ones." She didn't even know the words, but she knew Fairy Godmother said something silly before making Cinderella a dress. "What is it? Boobadi Bibadoo something?"
Raven narrowed her eyes at her.
"Oh, pleeease?" Starfire begged her, putting her hands together and grinning hugely.
This was all for Kory, so the empath sighed heavily again. "Fine, but I'm not singing that stupid song. Now stay still."
Koriand'r stood there blissfully, smiling and closing her eyes.
"Don't make her a goth dress." Jinx muttered when Raven's wand began to glow.
The empath let out a loud, frustrated sound and glared at yet another interruption. "Will you all shut up and let me focus?"
"Sorry." Jinx put her hands up in the air defensively. "Go on."
Donna got her phone ready and nodded at Raven, who took a deep breath and turned to her best friend again. She raised her completely unnecessary wand and blankly said the completely unnecessary words. "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo…"
Raven flicked the wand for effect and a magical whirlwind surrounded the alien princess. Starfire felt utterly immersed in the fantasy as she twirled around and the most beautiful dress she had ever seen was conjured on her body. Every other girl gasped at how perfectly surreal it was, with bits of transparency and dozens of tiny rosé-gold butterflies forming intricate details over her one bare shoulder and down to her waist. The flowy long skirt sparkled when she moved, in a mesmerizing way only magical things shine. It was soft and pretty, but whimsical too. It was Starfire's.
Raven analyzed her work and decided she was satisfied. Then she glanced at her friend's face, beaming back at her with grateful, watery eyes. "Good, you like it."
"I LOVE it!" Kory squealed, pulling the empath into a tight hug, only loosening her grip after she grunted in pain. "It's even better than the other one! It's absolutely perfect!"
"You know, I have to agree." Bumblebee nodded approvingly, and every other girl hummed in agreement, still marveling at the view.
Raven fixed her slightly disheveled looks when Starfire finally let go of her. "Okay, crisis averted. Can we just marry you now before something else happens?"
The Tamaranean giggled. "Yes, please!"
As Raven checked the line to walk down the aisle to make sure everyone was in place, she nodded approvingly until she got to Beast Boy and Terra. A rather uncomfortable and sudden sensation sucked all the air out of her lungs when she saw them locking arms, all dressed up like that. It meant nothing and pairing them up was obvious and she'd done it herself, but the sight still made her need to stop and focus on not exploding anything at her best friend's wedding.
"Is something wrong?" The Changeling asked, checking his outfit for anything that could be out of place. Raven had been particularly meticulous about this wedding.
The empath shook her head. "Of course not. I…you look good together."
She hadn't meant to sound sad, but she could hear it in her own voice. They did look good together and pointing it out wounded her a little. She tried smiling at them, but apparently that seemed sad too, because now Garfield looked worried and Terra was staring back at her with an absolutely pained face. But Dick was already walking down the aisle and there was no time for heartache.
"Rae…" The blonde whispered.
Raven had already recovered and moved on to bring Starfire and Galfore to the end of the line and make sure Kory's hair looked perfect.
"Damian, you're up." The empath instructed before resuming her own spot in line.
Tightrope (The Greatest Showman) played as the groom was followed by the best man, the groomsmen and bridesmaids and the maid of honor. Damian held onto the wedding rings and shot Rose a charming smile and a wink when he walked by her. She rolled her eyes, but he noticed her blush anyway. He also noticed she looked extremely hot. Garfield and Terra walked in behind him, then Cyborg and Bumblebee, and then Raven.
The empath was closely followed by Krypto, Salem and Silkie. The Kryptonian dog strutted proudly, with Silkie on his back. Salem was shier, but Garfield had talked to him about it and explained all he needed to do was follow after Raven, and he could definitely do that. Once the Changeling was on the aisle, he stared at the empath the whole time. She glanced at him too, maybe because the song made her want to, maybe because she wanted to check if he was looking at Terra. They smiled when their eyes met.
The Wedding March started playing and Galfore walked in with Starfire. Everyone gasped and swooned at how amazing she looked. Kory had always been beautiful, but tonight she was a vision. Richard felt his heart skip a beat and his chest burn, because he simply couldn't believe he was about to marry her. Kory beamed at him and his eyes welled up. He watched her intently until Galfore gave her away and he took her arm to bring her to stand beside him on the aisle. Starfire handed Raven her bouquet then turned to him again and Dick couldn't contain the size of his smile or the fluttering of his heart.
The ceremony was short, sweet and beautiful – and Batman officiated it. This portion of the ceremony was small and intimate, because all the heroes with secret identities – including the groom – didn't want to wear a mask for this part. The party after would be something else entirely though, and they had their masks ready for that. But at least for now, they were surrounded by family and close friends only. Raven and Garfield kept stealing affectionate glances at each other during the whole thing.
Dick smiled at his soon-to-be wife. "Kory. From the first moment I saw you I knew I was in love and deep down, I knew it would last forever. You are the weirdest, kindest, most wonderful girl I've ever met and the only thing that matches your beauty is your heart. I fall in love with you every single day and I just hope you'll continue to let me share my life with you. I'll always look out for you and you'll never be alone. I love you." He gently slid the ring on her finger.
"My dearest friend." Starfire took an intake of breath. "You were the first person to show me kindness in this strange planet. You were the first friend I made here and even back then I knew somehow that to this day you'd still be the most special. To be honest, you were one of the main reasons I decided to stay in this world I call home now, and I would make that choice a thousand times again. I love everything about you and life with you has been a blissful adventure. I can't wait for the rest. I promise I'll always be faithful and take care of you. I love you." She said as she slid the ring on his finger.
Everyone was teary-eyed at this point, and when Bruce Wayne finally declared them married and said they could kiss, there was loud cheering and happy tears all over the place. They soon moved on to the party, where everything also looked beautiful. Dick and Kory shared their first dance to an instrumental version of A Whole New World and cut the cake. Kory tossed the bouquet and Raven literally had to dodge it, so Bumblebee ended up catching it and shot Cyborg a cheeky grin. And then everyone scattered around to eat, drink and have fun.
The empath exhaled heavily in relief. They were married and extremely happy. It was Starfire's dream wedding and everything had gone perfectly. Her job here was done. She could finally relax.
Yes, Raven, you did it girl. You can relax. You should relax. And relax you shall.
