Chapter 4: Diagnosis: Unknown

Phetiamwantip: You'll c.

When the Ninja were all up in the isolation ward, they were each given a room.

"All right, here's what's gonna happen. Each of you will be assigned a Ninja and I'll be watching you closely to see how you handle being their nurse. Understood?" Nurse Rachet told them.

"Yes Nurse Rachet." the trainees replied.

"Good. Maxwell you got Kai."

"Yes, Nurse Rachet." she replied.

"Wellington, you'll be taking care of Jay."

"Yes, Ma'am." he answered.

"Smith you've got Zane."

"I'll take care of him, Nurse Rachet." she answered.

"Jones, you get Loyd."

"Yes, Nurse Rachet." he told her.

"Davis, you're getting Nya."

"Yes, Nurse Rachet Ma'am." he replied.

"And Lancaster, you'll be looking after Cole."

"Yes, Nurse Rachet."

"Then let's get to it."

And with that, the trainee nurses went to the room their assigned patient was in. Opal walked into Cole's room, and saw him lying in bed.

"Hello, Cole. I'm your nurse Opal, I'll be looking after you."

"(Coughs), hi." Cole replied.

"So, let's start with getting you out of clothes and into a hospital gown."

"Hospital gown? You mean the ones that don't close in the back?"

"Yes, those."

Opal then pulled out a white garment with black polka dots.

"You get changed into this, and put your clothes in this bag."

She placed a plastic bag beside the gown, and left the room.

"I'll give you a minute to get changed."

And she left the room. As she waited outside, Opal looked at how her fellow trainees were doing. They had just collected their clothes and were giving them to the orderlies. Opal tapped back on the door, and Cole said she could come in.

When she walked back into the room, and Cole was in the hospital gown, and was lying on the bed.

"Okay, now I'll just give you a quick look over before the doctor comes in."

Opal then listened to his heart and lungs, took his temperature, checked his blood pressure, and looked him over.

"Hmm, have you always had this rash?"

She gently held his arm where a small red rash was forming.

"Uh, no."

Opal then wrote everything down on a clipboard.

"I'll be right back. You try to rest."

And Opal once again left the room.

Out in the hall she met up with the other trainees and Nurse Rachet and they went over their observations.

"All right, what we got?" Nurse Rachet wanted to know.

"Kai presented with respiratory distress, and complained of chills." said Maxwell.

"Jay has nausea and body aches." informed Wellington.

"Zane complains of hot flashes and he's short circuiting." Smith reported.

"Cole has a fever and there's a red rash on his arm." Opal told them.

"Nya's presenting with severe body aches, and nausea." Davis said.

"And Lloyd's symptoms includes everything the other said, except the short circuiting." added Jones.

"So they all have similar symptoms, which isn't too surprising since they all live together. All right what's next?"

Opal was about to say something, but Davis spoke up first.

"We need blood samples."

"And in Zane's case, some of his oil." added Wellington.

"That's correct. And also we need scans and histories." Nurse Rachet told them.

"We're on it." Maxwell told her.

As the rest of the trainees hurried off back to their patients, Opal went back to Cole.

"Lancaster, you better keep up if you want to be a proper nurse." Nurse Rachet called out.

"Yes, ma'am." Opal replied.

The other trainees snickered at that.

"She'll never become a real nurse like that." whispered Jones to Maxwell.

"Oh yeah." Maxwell agreed.

Opal heard that, and couldn't help but feel a little sad. She hated it when the other trainees teased and talked about her whenever she made a mistake. But she went back to her patient.

While the Ninja were at the hospital, back in Rubble Grove Dr. Rogers and his doctors and nurses were getting ready for their attack. Finishing the virus was step one, step two was getting a way to spread that virus.

He walked to another part of the building, and saw his minions building a type of weapon.

"And how's everything going in here?" he asked them.

"Everything's coming along nicely sir." said Dr. Maul.

"Good. Nurse Payne."

Nurse Payne quickly came up to him.

"Yes, Doctor?"

"How are our supplies looking?"

"It's good so far, but it looks like we're going to need more steel if we're going to make this thing as big as you want it to be."

"(Sighs), looks like you all will be making another trip into the city." Dr. Rogers told them.

"Well at least with the Ninja sick in bed it'll be an easy trip." replied Dr. Maul.

"(Chuckles), that's true. If I could only see them now."

Back in the hospital, the Ninja were still in bed feeling miserable and getting tests done. Opal was getting ready to take a sample of Cole's blood.

"All right, Cole I'm going to take some blood now." she told him, as tied a tourniquet around his arm.

"Okay." Cole replied.

As Opal tapped his arm to get a vein she noticed that Cole's arm was very strong and muscular. It made her cheeks heat up a little.

"Everything okay?" he asked her.

She quickly regained her composure, and started to get the sample.

"This may pinch a bit."

She stuck the needle in, and drew the blood. It did make Cole wince a bit, but not for long. After collecting the sample, Nurse Rachet came in. Opal quickly straightened up.

"And how is everything going in here?" she wanted to know.

"Everything's fine, Nurse Rachet. I just collected Cole's blood sample."

"Good. And how's your beside manner? Is the patient comfortable, did you see if he needed anything?"

"I was just about to get on that."

"Well you better step it up. If you're going to be a nurse you gotta be on top of that." Nurse Rachet told her sternly.

"Yes, ma'am."

And with that, Nurse Rachet left. Opal sighed softly.

"Anything you need, Cole?"

"Actually, do you think you could fluff my pillow bit I'm having a hard time getting comfortable."

"No problem."

And with that, Opal gently fluffed his pillow.

"Comfortable?"

"(Sneezes) Yes, thanks, uh what was your name again?"

"Opal."

"Thanks, Opal."

Opal smiled at him, and then let him get some rest.
