Chapter 5

"Long night Liv?" Fin asked in the morning when he entered her office. She had beaten all of her detectives into the precinct and the Sergeant knew that something was bothering her.

"Charlotte called me last night. Elliot and I got her to her sister's," she looked up from the paperwork on her desk. The reports had been backing up and One PP was breathing down her neck for them.

"Was she feeling unsafe?" Fin immediately grew concerned as he took a seat in one of the chairs in front of her desk.

"No, but she was blaming herself for what happened to Rachel. It's evident that Rachel was suffering from mental health issues. What did you guys find on the possible therapist referral?" Olivia wanted to know.

"Found some medication with the therapist's name on it. I figured that Rollins and Bruno could go see what the therapist could tell us," he told her.

"No word from Melinda?" She wondered.

"I checked in with her before I got here. She's waiting on the tox screen. Rachel had some broken bones, but cause of death was internal bleeding. Melinda thinks she might have been on some sort of blood thinner," Fin explained.

"Did CSU find any blood thinners in her apartment?" Olivia was immediately concerned that maybe Charlotte had been right. Being on blood thinners could mean that what didn't seem like a big fall, could be deadly.

"That's the thing… they didn't find anything like that," he said.

"Could she have swallowed a bunch of them and then tossed the prescription bottle in the trash?" The Captain was open to anything at this point.

"I have no idea, but CSU promised to go back to the apartment and check," Fin said.

"Were there any signs of a second person in the apartment?" Olivia really didn't like the fact that they seemingly had no leads.

"No signs of forced entry but there were some fingerprints that didn't match the victim's. Could be Charlotte's though, they were friends," he figured.

"Ok, I'll call Charlotte's sister and see if she could come in and give us prints – for elimination purposes only. She admitted that she was in the apartment, so her prints won't prove much. Plus, I don't see her calling nine-one-one if she pushed her friend off the fire escape. Well, that and we have no motive for her to do anything like this," Olivia said.

"Agreed but we only have her word that Rachel was really depressed," Fin pointed out.

"It would seem that the prescription with the therapist's name on it would counter that point," She gave him a look.

"Just saying Liv. Until we see what the therapist says…" he shrugged.

"Is there something about Charlotte that bothers you?" Olivia asked.

"She just seems to care a lot about a neighbor. You know how people can be in this city. When was the last time you talked to your neighbor?" Fin gave her a look.

"Last night when Elliot asked Mrs. Dunleavy to watch Noah but I take your point. Ask Charlotte how she and Rachel met and got to know each other while you're getting her prints," she told him.

"You got it," he nodded.

"Where is Curry on the family angle?" She wanted to know.

"Hard to get answers from local agencies on the weekend. Charlotte wasn't lying about not wanting to talk to her family. Rachel's emergency contact is actually Charlotte," Fin said.

"Yeah, that'll do it. Ok, see about the therapist, the fingerprints, and how the neighbors met. If nothing shakes loose, call it a day. Monday may bring tox screen results and something more helpful about Rachel's family. If you need me, call me. I'm headed home to try and spend some time with Noah," Olivia let him know.

"Say hi for me and to Elliot too," Fin smirked and Olivia promised she would.
