The Smurfocalypse Chapter 133: A Friend's Protection

After the events that transpired. Jupiter made a beeline straight for Papa Smurf's hut. He left his cart, the ore, and his tools right where they were when he dropped everything to investigate the source of the crying he had heard. It's the type of Smurf Jupiter was raised to be. Work can be done later. The wellbeing of those around him was far more important and took top priority in his brain making him a knight almost by nature. He walks through town with purpose in his step taking time only to have small talk with Secretary as they passed each other. Jupiter's mental health wasn't exactly the picture of perfection. Safe to say none of these survivors were the same anymore. She merely asked him if his sessions with Psychiatrist were helping to which Jupiter said he wasn't sure yet. Then he was encouraged to go back again before he allowed her to pencil him in on the spot. Jupiter makes it to Papa Smurf's hut and knocks on the door loudly still a little mad about what he thought had happened to Pluto.

"Come in!" Brainy said from inside.

Jupiter opened the door and stomped inside mentally preparing himself for civil and mature conversation.

"Brainy we need to talk." Jupiter said.

"By all means. Have a seat Jupiter." Brainy said stuffing a bookmark into his tome and folding his hands giving Jupiter his full attention.

Jupiter sits down in the wooden chair on the other side of Brainy's desk where he studied Papa Smurf's books.

"Brainy I saw something very upsetting in the forest today." Jupiter said keeping his cool despite his rage.

"Oh? And what did you see Jupiter?" Brainy asked.

"I was wheeling a cart of ore from the mine back into the village when I heard crying and Pluto asking for help. When I got there her face was covered in blood and she was crying saying Wild Smurf hit her when she got to close to his hut." Jupiter said visibly seething, his voice projecting his mood as he relived the incident in his head.

"Why would Wild do something like that?" Brainy asked.

"That's what I asked him. He didn't even answer me." Jupiter said.

"Well Wild doesn't have the best social skills. Are you sure he didn't try to explain himself?" Brainy asked.

"I think he may have, but I don't believe him and I don't really understand how he communicates. Regardless it's wrong to lay hands on Smurfling." Jupiter said.

"That would indeed be a direct violation of Hefty's law against violence." Brainy said.

"He got away and I'm concerned. What if he's dangerous Brainy?" Jupiter said.

"Wild gets rowdy at times, but I don't think he's ever hit anyone before…" Brainy said.

"Well Brainy we don't know a thing about him anymore. He could have changed somehow and we wouldn't even know it because he doesn't speak Smurf." Jupiter said.

"Whether he changed or not means nothing. Port Saint Smurf is a land of second chances, and trust is an important commodity in any society. What happened to Wild after you confronted him?" Brainy said.

"He ran away. He's still out there Brainy. We don't know where and we don't know if he's planning on hurting someone." Jupiter said.

"I'll take care of everything Jupiter. We'll get to the bottom of this as a society and see what should be done moving forward. You can return to work now. Good eye." Brainy said.

Jupiter nods and stands before leaving the hut shutting the door behind him. Brainy just received some very upsetting news about a Smurf he considers a friend. Wild was clearly troubled just like many of the others himself included. Brainy didn't believe for a moment that Wild would have deliberately done something so bad unprovoked. This wasn't a manhunt that was going to end tragically, not with Brainy at the helm of the operation. Communicating with Wild could be difficult. However there was a Smurf Brainy knew who would be able to talk to him with ease. He was going to get some Smurfs together just like Papa Smurf would do, and personally set out to solve the problem as peacefully as he can. Wild would flee, or behave strangely, possibly even be scared or stressed if Brainy was not there. Hopefully if they find him Brainy's presence will be enough for him to get to the bottom of things. This of course means Pluto is screwed and her little plan was going to fail. That'd be a whole new frozen can of worms later. For now it was time Brainy got to work. The sooner this was solved the better.

Brainy assembled his team. Falconer, Magica, and Honey would be accompanying him on his investigation. He was going to need his best friend's help, and a couple knights would be enough to prevent things from getting nasty. He was not going to harm Wild. He was not going to allow Wild to be harmed. All Brainy wanted to do was talk. Despite the fact he wanted to dramatically force his opinion into the ears of those around him and insist desperately that what he had to say was important and was proper, he remembered the importance of having a filter. Having a filter has helped Brainy immensely in achieving multiple life goals and he wasn't going to have a slip especially not in front of his best friend. Instead he calmly explained the situation based upon what he had learned, he asserted himself as an authority figure by insisting that he had a plan, that the plan was going to work, and that his friends would just have to trust in him and see. He earned the approval of Falconer, Magica thought his plan was smart, but Honey was skeptical. Aside from Magica, Brainy was not exactly popular with the Smurfettes except Blossom who has developed a huge crush on him and never told anybody. Honey heard stories that circulated about the kind of Smurf Brainy used to be and didn't exactly respect him. However it was her job whether she liked it or not to help him as a Knight of the Smurf Table.

Brainy's plan was simple. He was going to personally search the forest for Wild. The team he chose had their own unique skills that would be able to help him immensely. Falconer can understand Wild and communicate with him as Wild is able to communicate with squirrels in a way they can comprehend and Falconer can also talk to animals meaning Falconer can be an interpreter for Wild in the investigation. Magica's transformation spells can help her slip through the forest undetected giving him a pair of invisible eyes, and Honey's chemical Smurf essence allows her to communicate with bees via pheromones making her the ultimate bee keeper, and also the ultimate scout as she can quite literally control a hive mind and have access to all it knows. Honey's Smurf essence is far more powerful than she realizes, but she isn't a chemist or some type of genius. She affiliates it with what she knows best. A complex Smurf essence like this requires a deep understanding of science to truly master leaving potential for a Smurf to exist in the distant future who could be capable of performing what would be considered miracles in this time period simply by manipulating their own Smurf essence.

Brainy leads his team to the loose brick which the Smurflings had carelessly not put back in and stepped out into the forest.

"Alright. We do this proper, and we follow the plan. Together we will make Port Saint Smurf a safer place." Brainy said grabbing some inspiration from Hefty in his words.

Honey said nothing as she grasped a bizarre variant of the fire lance that would be mostly unrecognizable to human eyes. It was a fire lance but the part that's supposed to shoot fire and shrapnel out was larger making the weapon heavier. This device was her weapon and Storm helped her think of it and make it. It was her most trusted tool for the better part of a year. Here's how it works. Inside the cannon above where the blade of the lance extends are actual beehives consisting of adult bees that are waiting inside. All Honey has to do is light a match and trigger a mechanism in the cannon and it will launch her colony out of the cannon at incredible speeds and release the confused and angry bees onto whoever may be unfortunate enough to be by. From there she can send them pheromones to manipulate their actions with the authority of a queen and inquire and retain information on anything she needs from them. One would not want to be shot in the face with thing for multiple reasons yet following her interview and integration she's been allowed to carry this thing anywhere she pleases thanks to her immediate social status as a knight. The blade was long and sharp resembling a stinger. Being struck by this thing wouldn't be a fun experience as it was designed for her to pierce her opponent's skin then in quick succession she'd light the cannon and blast them at close range with a hot beehive full of infuriated insects. It was not a pleasant way to die and Honey knew it and didn't care. It was better not to care, or think about the fact that the Smurfs she's killed this way were in a grand sense just like her. She was not above tipping her blade with poison either. The girls didn't exactly have a blast the day they found out weapons could be poisonous. Honey had vials of her preferred concoction on her even now though there is no need for such things.

Storm's close-knit inner circle, and the way she lived and the choices she made after what happened to Lily caused Honey to have to do some things but in doing so she earned Storm's trust, received special training and coaching, and survived to tell of the horrors she's both witnessed and caused. She aims her lance into the air and fires it launching a large hive into the air. A swarm of bees fly from it as it flies off into the distance and then the bees scatter in every direction. Falconer commands Zarus to take to the sky and conduct his own search, and Magica chants a spell that turns her into a robin and flies off into the distance.

"It's not going to take long at all." Brainy thought with confidence.
