"Aim that laser rifle straight, soldiers, and step away a bit — you're not in Vegas anymore. You're fighting a horde now," said Charles at a targeting range in Boulder City with the Freeside agents.

Following his orders, many of the agents moved the targets away and aimed for the center mass consistently with their laser rifles.

"Good, aren't they?" said Karl.

"Yeah, just a bit surprised since nobody told me anything about this sooner." said Charles

"Yeah, same. Iris just told me about us helping here a few hours ago," said Joseph.

"Well, I feel it's necessary. No point in having all our agents and Securitrons in New Vegas when nothing's happening right now," said Charles.

"Nothing says something won't happen later, but I agree. Might as well send some troops here — it's not like we're pulling everyone out of New Vegas," said Karl.

Then, noticing a few mistakes in the firing of multiple agents, Charles said:

"Alright, that's enough. You guys did okay, but your groupings are a bit off. Here's how you do it."

The agents, along with Joseph and Karl, watched as Charles moved the target all the way to the back, then fired with his laser rifle at almost perfect groupings and said:

"Just keep steady and stay calm, and you should do fine. However, that was more about fighting a Legionary standing still which won't happen in battle. We'll move on to moving targets next — more in line with the actual soldiers of the Legion."

They continued practicing their firing skills for a while, with Joseph, Karl, and Charles helping the agents out. After dismissing them, Charles said to Karl and Joseph:

"Sucks they don't get much time to fine-tune their skills, but they should be good. They're already pretty experienced."
Then, with the training done, they left the targeting practice area and headed to the separate cafeteria, where many of the agents were eating.

They received the slop food that the NCR was serving and sat with the agents, talking about various topics regarding the war and New Vegas.

Afterward, General Moore called Charles to a meeting, so he excused himself and left, leaving what food he had remaining on the table.

As he exited the building, he saw Securitrons being unloaded from trucks and patrolling the base. Theodore was outside, training some of the agents on moving targets, while NCR troops practiced their marksmanship.
Then, continuing on to the main NCR command base, Charles went to General Moore's office.

Knocking on the door, General Moore opened it and said:

"Hey Charles, glad you could come by. Sorry for keeping you in the dark about this, but come on in."

Once he entered, Moore continued:

"So, we're planning to mobilize your men tomorrow. We definitely need the help. While those planes you got from the Boomers are helping, they simply aren't enough. The Legion just has too many men, and their AA guns are doing good work against some of our planes. But at least we have air superiority, since they have a sparse number of planes. Still, we desperately need the help now."
"Alright, the Securitrons should be ready as they usually are, and even if the agents only get one day of training, they're all experienced, so I think we should be good," said Charles.

"Alright then. Train for a bit and get a good night's sleep. Your men are going to be fighting tomorrow. Though, what about you? House didn't mention if you would be fighting or not," said General Moore.

"Because he knows he can't change my opinion about this, even if he wants me to avoid danger. So, as to your question—if I'll be fighting or not—yes, it is my duty," said Charles.
