Prologue
The Infinite Library.
It is a place located outside of the world, in a dimension of its own.
Such a place was created to imitate one of the World Class Items of YGGDRASIL, the Infinite Spell Grimoire—known in this world as the Nameless Book of Spells. Similarly to that impossibly powerful item, the library records any and all spells ever created or used in the world, and they then appear in this library in the form of new books of magic.
At least, that is what the person he loved the most had once told him, recalled the man entrusted with said library.
For centuries, he has remained in this place, studying magic endlessly.
This would have continued for an eternity had he not encountered a different kind of book—one that should never have existed in this place, separate from the rest of the world.
Three hundred years.
To think it would take that long to find a book like this—a storybook—in a place that houses endless magical knowledge and theory.
Heaving a satisfied sigh upon finishing that book, the owner of this library closed it, bearing such thoughts in mind.
One would think the appearance of a three-hundred-year-old person would be that of a corpse. However, he instead held the appearance of a young man in his mid-twenties. Not a single patch of gray could be spotted in his disheveled, long black hair.
Even the glint in his jet-black eyes was that of youth.
Unfortunately, that had not been the case before he stumbled upon this book. Before, those had been the eyes of a three-hundred-year-old wizard, obsessed with studying magic.
A man who had done just that, not leaving this place for all those centuries since he first inherited it from his beloved teacher.
The book—a story of heroes and their many adventures.
Having read that book, the man felt as though he had stumbled upon a puzzle piece missing from his entire life.
Calmly, he placed the book on the table before him. Then, he practically jumped to his feet, leaving the wooden chair he had occupied this entire time. With his arms outstretched and a manic glint in his eyes, he proclaimed to the world,
"—I've got it!"
He would take the next step in this long life of his.
Besides, he had attained the pinnacle of magic. After three centuries of watching over this place, hadn't he earned a break?
And besides, none but he could access this place. None but he knew that it even existed in the first place. Even without his presence, the Infinite Library would continue to function as it always has.
In other words, he could afford to do this.
And so, without looking back or making any preparations whatsoever, the wizard who had surpassed humanity, Rito Valasta, cast a spell.
"[Greater Teleportation]!"
In a flash of light, he left for the world outside his library of thousand spells, venturing into the unknown.
