(A/N): Hey Guys! So, currently in science, where the questions are weirdly complicated, and I had to explain what fanfic is to the boy sitting next to me, accidentally exited out of this window to do so, and therefore had to start this chapter over. Sorry...
12/12/23: Had to change the chapter title from 'Little Miss Muffet' to 'Hansel and Gretel', because I wanted to use 'Little Miss Muffet' for the current newest chapter, 492, where it fit better. I also think Hansel and Gretel fit better for this chapter, since Leo goes to fetch the two twin vampires, Danniel and Jo.
Disclaimer: I own nothing you recognise.
Leo
The others left not long after that, and my father sent me out into the forest after the two new vampires to bring them back from their hunt. Danniel's head snapped up as I neared and Jo wasn't far behind; I slowed slightly to give them time to sink into a defensive stance before perching on top of a tree branch that extended out almost directly above their heads. "Relax guys, it's just me," I said, and they both returned to their normal positions slowly, still wary.
"You're fast," Danniel noted.
"Faster than us," Jo agreed and I shrugged, the corner of my lips curving upward at the dumb joke I was about to make.
"Fast as the wind. You'll get faster, Shari and my father are only faster than you due to age- the longer you live, the faster and stronger you'll get." Danniel frowned.
"How is a half-vampire stronger and faster than a full vampire?"
I hesitated for a bare second before I shrugged. "You'll find out eventually, I guess." I sighed, taking a step off of the edge of the branch and landing- hopefully with grace- on the forest floor. "I'm part veela." Jo looked confused, whereas Danniel didn't, which was how I knew.
"A veela?" I frowned, nodding.
"So, you're a wizard then?" Danniel looked sheepish, and Jo glanced between us.
"Wizard... Wait, wizards exist? What about witches? Same thing, or...?"
"Of course they exist! Vampires exist, why wouldn't magic?" She stared at me for a second and Danniel grinned, glad to be the one not caught off-balance for once.
"I just... It's a lot to take in."
I nodded sympathetically. "I've always known I was a wizard, I'm pureblood- but I didn't find out I was half vampire until I was seven." Danniel frowned.
"I'm a muggle-born, so obviously, I only found out when I was eleven. I graduated from Koldovstoretz the year before last, and my mother moved us back here a few months back."
"I don't hear much about Koldovstoretz... what's it like?" Danniel paused for a second before shrugging.
"I've never been anywhere else... it's just... It's just school."
Jo looked confused, so I filled her in. "Koldovstoretz is a school where witches and wizards learn magic." She nodded slowly.
"So, where do you go to school? I'll take a stab and say Hogwarts," He said with a big smile, and I nodded.
"Yeah. Hogwarts is pretty cool," I told him before he had the chance to ask, and Jo frowned.
"And you're... what? On holidays?"
"Actually, yes. Summer holidays are nine weeks, I'll be gone again in a few weeks and you'll be stuck with the oldies."
"Right now, that doesn't sound so bad," She teased, and I pretended to be hurt.
"Hey! They're a lot more grating usually." She actually seemed to think she had hurt my feelings, so I beamed at her. "Anyway, my mother is half veela, making me quarter veela, half vampire. Also my best friend is a werewolf." Danniel cocked an eyebrow at me.
"What about your girlfriend?" I shrugged, wincing slightly.
"Also half veela." I frowned; it felt almost wrong to call Brooke my girlfriend, but I didn't know what else to call her anymore. Besides, we had kissed more than a few times- sure, it wasn't official, but we wouldn't likely get into that conversation, not with her bringing up my wholly obvious crush on Elaine every five minutes.
"Hot." I shot him a half-glare, and Jo smiled.
"So, magic's real, is it?" She asked, and I shrugged.
"Only some. Not like, you can do everything with a wave of your hand, but specific spells; wands and potions... yeah. It's pretty awesome," I told her, grinning.
"So, where's your mum?" Danniel asked, and the grin dropped off my face in an instant.
"London. She kicked me out when she found out what I was," I said, crossing my arms over my chest- not defensively, but protectively, which I had the feeling they both noticed.
"Leo..." I shook my head, scoffing quietly.
"Oh please, I'm much better off without that woman in my life- although, she's technically still in my life, considering the blackmail and occasional attempts to kill me... but c'est la vie, right?" I made sure to say it with a smile but Jo just stared at me as though it wasn't there.
"Kill you?" I shrugged.
"Or worse. It's nothing new- it's happened pretty much my whole life."
(A/N): So, what did you think?
I'm at home now, but it's getting late, so I probably won't write another chapter tonight. But that's fine, cos you got like, three today you greedy bastards.
Please review and/or check out my other stories!
This chapter has had small edits made to it on 30/12/22 - I originally said Danniel went to Durmstrang, but Durmstrang doesn't take muggleborns, which Danniel is. Koldovstoretz is the school in Russia that takes in the muggleborn students Durmstrang doesn't allow.
This chapter has had edits made to it on 7/2/25 - formatting and reconfiguring of sentences. Added Leo being amused by the dumb joke he was about to make, since he originally just 'smirked slightly'. I changed it so where Jo originally said, 'Wizards exist? And witches?' I changed it to her being unsure whether witches exist in the same capacity or not, since in most cases, witches and wizards are very different things, not just male magical practitioners versus female magical practitioners. I changed Danniel being 'glad to have one up on Jo for once' to being 'glad to not be the one caught off-balance for once', since that reflects his later personality better. Same with him having a big smile. Added the grin dropping off of Leo's face at the mention of his mother. Changed it so Leo said he wrapped his arms around himself not defensively, but protectively, which he had a feeling Jo and Danniel both noticed. Added Leo saying 'c'est la vie', which is one of the first instances of Leo speaking French, even if it is a common phrase. Changed it so instead of saying, 'It's happened my whole life', Leo says, 'It's nothing new- it's happened pretty much my whole life.' Danniel smirked a lot in this chapter, and he really isn't the sort of guy that smirks.
