Story Start!

Himeno needed a new devil contract.

She was going to keep her Ghost contract, but the fact was that Naruto was protecting her, because her life was in danger. She needed more power so that he wouldn't have to worry about her as much, it was a simple matter of fact. If she left Public Safety, she wasn't going to have access to any of the contracts. In her dream world, she would get to quit, keep her ghost contract, and go private.

That was no longer an option for her.

So she asked Makima for another devil contract.

"The Future Rules!"

The Future Devil, the Devil who gave it's contracters the ability to see into the future, anywhere between a second and a few minutes at a time. It was a wicked devil on the side of humanity, purely because it wanted humans to survive so that it could watch them suffer. It didn't know the future itself, not unless somebody stuck their head inside of the eyeball on it's chest. It was a large creature.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Aki asked her, standing by her side as her escort, just to make sure none of the devils in the facility tried anything.

She walked forwards and put her head in the devil's chest.

Future froze in place for a moment.

"Now... that is strange... very strange, you shouldn't be standing in front of me... hmmmmm." Future pushed her out of his chest, and he stroked his own chin. "... Are you actually Himeno, because I'm not seeing... you... boy... come and look into my chest." Future pointed to Aki.

"I refuse."

"That is very strange, I can't see the future of dead people... girl, are you alive?" Future asked as he grabbed Himeno's wrist and pulled her sleeve up. He felt her pulse, to make sure that she wasn't some kind of moving corpse. Himeno was just confused and allowed it to happen, and when it let go of her wrist, she felt her own pulse.

She had a pulse.

"... So you can't see my future?"

"I can't see the future of people who aren't suppose to have a future... the future is destiny, it isn't something that mere mortals can change. So tell me... how are you here?" Future asked in great interest as he leaned down to look at Himeno right in the face. His 6 eyes on his face all opened and stared into her very soul.

She flinched back.

"How am I here?" Himeno didn't understand the question. "I'm alive, that's how I'm here. I almost died awhile back, but my friend saved my life." Himeno did almost get shot. The devil grabbed her by the chin and stared deeper into her. He pulled her face back into his chest, and she got to experience for herself the blankness for herself once more as it tried to read her future.

The Future devil made contracts by seeing the future of possible contracters, and then deciding what it wanted to take from them.

"I can see all futures of those in this world, this is has never happened to me before... the only thing I can say, is that you shouldn't be alive. You shouldn't be standing here in front of me... your destiny was to die, and something not of this world interfered with your destiny." Future was very interested in Himeno. He was very interested not in her as a person, but something that could change the future.

"... So why can't you just see the future where I'm alive."

"My power doesn't work that way, I see the unchanging future. I see the timeline as it is intended, and I have never once been wrong. I can't see the future of somebody who was never supposed to have a future." Future caused both of the humans in the room to become absolutely speechless. "This has never happened before... I can't see the past, so I can't see how you were supposed to die... go to the Past devil, and come back to me."

-20 Minutes Later-

"Now that is very strange... how are you standing in front of me right now?" Past asked, he looked very similar to Future, but instead of an upbeat attitude, he was a downer. He had finished reading Himeno's past, and by all rights she shouldn't be standing in front of him.

"I'm standing here because I'm alive." Himeno argued.

Past pointed at her.

"No, you aren't alive... when I looked into your past, I saw you dying from a gun wound, and you traded you everything away to the Ghost devil, and failed. You should be dead, and your soul should belong to the Ghost devil right now." Past had looked into her past, and that was what he saw.

"Naruto saved her life."

"Who is Naruto, that person doesn't exist in her Past." Past stated with crossed arms, displeased by the way they were lying to him. He leaned down and looked at Aki, who had spoken up. Aki glared at him for a moment, but kept his cool overall. "... Himeno has never once met a person named Naruto in her life."

"Yes, I have, he's living with me. Uzumaki Naruto is his name, blond hair, whisker marks, blue eyes... I've known him for awhile now. So he's in my past. He saved us from the Eternity devil." Himeno stated, and Past snapped his fingers.

"Stop lying, Denji killed the Eternity devil after fighting it for 3 days, and you helped him by using Ghost to pull his trigger." Past couldn't stand how somebody could so blatantly lie to him, the Past devil, about the events that happened in their recent past. He could see the past perfectly as it was intended to be, the truth behind what had happened.

Himeno gripped her fist.

"Don't call me a liar, I'm alive, and standing right in front of you. I didn't get shot, and I didn't trade my life to Ghost. Naruto is in my past, look again and try and find him... stop lying to me and trying to freak me out." Himeno couldn't stand a devil who was lying purely to try and avoid making a contract.

Past hummed and stroked his stone chin in thought.

"... Well, you are here, right now, true... Boy, come let me see your past, I want to see if this Naruto boy is in your past." Past pointed to Aki, and this time, Aki actually stepped forward and put his head inside of Past's chest to get his past read. Past looked deeply into Aki's past, before gently pushing the man out of him. "... Do you know this Naruto?" Past asked him.

"I do, he's an ally of mine against your kind." Aki pointed out.

"So he exists... but he doesn't exist in your past... now that is strange. I can't see a person who looks like that, in either of your pasts. Go to Future, and see if this Naruto exists in your future." Past stated as he shoo'd them off.

-20 Minutes Later-

"There is no Naruto person in your future. Nobody with blond hair, blue eyes, or whisker marks exists in your future... and boy, does your future death fucking rock... now that is odd. This Naruto, he's a part of your life... wait... wasn't he here awhile back helping some girl get a contract... I remember seeing him." Future actually did remember meeting Naruto briefly.

"Did you see Akane's future?"

"I saw her dying as her contract with the Snake devil backfired on her, and she was beheaded by the Snake devil. She's dead now, so why are you bringing her up, the Snake devil kills most of it's contracters eventually." Future crossed his arms.

"Akane is still alive, and she's contracted with the Ice devil now, the Snake devil was killed before you even met her." Himeno stated as she backed up.

Future tilted his head.

"No, that isn't what I saw in her future. I wanted 15 years off of her natural life span, because I saw her dying to her Snake contract anyway. She's a loser, who died a loser's death. She's dead, because her contract should have killed her." Future had seen her weak death, getting captured and the Snake devil killing her for it automatically. She wasn't worth taking much more, because she didn't have anything he wanted.

Aki looked at Himeno.

"Naruto killed the Snake devil, captured Akane, and she's still currently alive. I'm friends with Naruto, he exists in my future, but you can't see him?" Aki asked, because now something really wasn't adding up. The Future devil had no reason to lie about Akane's death, but the fact was that she was still alive after the date that she was suppose to die.

Future was VERY interested.

"So, he exists in your future, but I can't see him... and he exists in your past, and Past can't see him either. Now THAT is very interesting... very interesting." Future was leaning into a bow as he looked between the two humans. "This Naruto... now this is very... I see... I see!" Future clapped his hands and raised them to the sky.

"You see?"

"I see! I do indeed see! Yes... this is the contract I offer you Himeno. I want nothing from you at all, but-" Future reached up and ripped out, violently, once of his own eyeballs. He wanted nothing from Himeno at all, and then he ripped out an eyeball. Aki was put on alert the second he did that, and Himeno was ready to use Ghost's hand to attack as well. "This is my eyeball..." Future shoved his eyeball through Himeno's eyepatch.

He inserted his eyeball right into her head.

It didn't vanish.

"Wh-what?"

"Ghost can't take that eye from you, because it's still my eyeball, not yours. With my eye inside of you, you will become immortal. You won't be able to die, and from now on, I will be able to watch the changes to the future that happen." Future wanted to see with his own eyes the future that would be changed by the inclusion of this unknown element.

"I didn't accept your contract!"

"This isn't a contract, because I don't care if you want to accept. I will see the future that has been changed."

-Later-

"... and now..." Himeno brought a knife up to her jugular, and she cut her throat. Her blood sprayed across the room. She ripped her eyepatch off, and the top half of her head transformed. She grew 4 extra eyeballs, and that was the extent of her transformation. What was more, her cut throat was fully healed.

Makima was smiling on the outside.

She was not happy on the inside.

"What brought about this?" Makima asked.

"... Who is Naruto, and why aren't the Past and Future devils able to see him in my past or future... and why did the Past and Future devil say that Himeno was supposed to die?" Aki asked Makima as the extra eyes on Himeno's head vanished when she covered her devil eye up. He had so many questions, and he hoped that Makima had the answers.

She slowly lost her smile as she turned to face him.

"Does it matter who he is, he did save Himeno's life. That is all you need to know, isn't it?" Makima asked with a smile growing back on her face, and Aki nodded his head. He was entranced by her smile, and accepted her statement as a good enough answer for him. "You're both dismissed." Makima stated.

They both left the room.

She stood up.

'Now that is very interesting. So, because Naruto isn't from our world, Future and Past can only see the Future and Past of a world where Naruto didn't come to our world. Naruto truly is a glitch. Himeno was truly meant to die, but he changed her future.' Makima had a working theory. She had hoped that she could send Himeno to make a contract with the future devil, in the hopes that she sacrificed too much to be a strong hunter, and died in battle.

She failed.

Himeno was now immortal, but that was fine, there were ways of dealing with immortals. She also learned something extremely useful.

"This means in the future, it will be unreliable for me to make use of the Future devil's power. If the Future devil can only see a future of a world where Naruto never came to this world, then that means his power can't be used to predict what Naruto will change." Makima had lost the Future devil as an asset to her plans, which was not ideal. She had made use of that devil's powers many times to make her plans and plots, but now it was just too unreliable.

From this point on, she was going to be going into her plots blind.

Quite the exciting development.

-Later at Himeno's Apartment-

"Welcome back Himeno." Naruto welcomed her home.

Himeno stopped, didn't say a word, and just looked at Naruto.

'... I was suppose to die, getting shot... my soul was going to be owned by Ghost. Naruto...' Himeno gulped when she saw Naruto, and the true weight of his effect on her life made it's way into her mind. She was always intended to die a meaningless death. She slowly walked across the living room.

She jumped onto Naruto and pushed her face right into his chest, wrapping her arms around him.

"Are you okay Himeno!?" Naruto was alarmed when he spoke.

She stayed silent.

'I knew he saved my life... but... now it...' Himeno had tears in her eyes when it truly hit her how close she had been to a fate worse than death. Knowing that she shouldn't be alive, that her soul should be lost until the Ghost devil's death, hit her like a train. "... Thanks for..." Himeno started to whisper.

"Thanks for?"

"... Thank you..." Himeno was at a loss for words. There was nothing that she felt that she could say that could do justice to what she felt. Thank you wasn't enough, and she couldn't think of anything to reward him with that would do justice to what he had done for her. "Thank you... thank... you." Himeno was crying.

Naruto just wrapped his arms around her.

"I don't know what's going on, but your welcome."

He was so confused why Himeno came back crying.
