Mega Rings
At the Shalour City Gym, Gurrkin walks to Lincoln after winning the Rumble Badge from Korrina after defeating her in their gym battle.
"You've battle well, Lincoln." said Gurkinn.
"Thank you, sir." replied Lincoln.
"After you get your Pokemon treated, come to the Tower of Mastery where I'll give you and your friends Mega Rings." said Gurrkin.
"Okay." said Lincoln.
"I'm looking forward to seeing you there, cute stuff." said Korrina, winking at Lincoln, making him blush, and Shauna frown; Lincoln and his friends then leave the Pokemon Center.
Moments later, Lincoln and his friends were at the Pokemon Center; they were in the cafeteria, having dinner while Lincoln's Farfetch'd, Floette, and Braixen were getting treated after their battle Korrina.
"So, Lincoln; any idea where the next gym is?" asked Tierno. Lincoln takes a map out of his backpack and lays it down on the table; he begins looking through it.
"According to this, the closest gym is at a place called Coumarine City." said Lincoln. "If we travel east from here through Route 12, and after we get through there, we should reach Coumarine City."
"But it looks like we have to cross a stream." said Trevor, pointing at a stream on the map that goes through Route 12.
"Don't worry, everyone; I have something that could help." said Serena. She reaches into her backpack and pulls out what appeared to be a Technical Machine.
"You have a Technical Machine, Serena?" asked Lincoln.
"Actually, this is a Hidden Machine; they're moves that can be used outside of battle as well as during one." said Serena.
"Whoa." said Tierno.
"This one contains a move known as Surf." said Serena. "Aside from being a strong move, it allows you to ride Pokemon across water; just teach it to a water Pokemon and it will carry you across water."
"But I don't have a water Pokemon." said Trevor.
"Don't worry; maybe we'll find one for you." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Trevor. Shauna looks at the map and saw an area on it that looked like open sea with several small islands on it.
"Hey; Azure Bay is north of Route 12." said Shauna.
"Azure Bay?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah; it's suppose to be a popular vacation spot in Kalos." replied Shauna. She leaned towards Lincoln until her face was a couple inches from his, making him blush. "You think we can stop by there before we go to Courmarine City?"
"I suppose our Pokemon can use a day of relaxation after the training they've been through." replied Lincoln, smiling while scratching the back of his head. "We can go there tomorrow."
"Don't forget; we still have to get those Mega Rings." said Trevor.
"Don't worry; I remember." replied Lincoln. After the group finished dinner, Lincoln lets out his Panpour while Shauna lets out her Azumarill, Serena lets out her Frogadier, and Tierno lets out his Wartortle. They use the Surf Hidden Machine on the water Pokemon, teaching them the move. After returning their Pokemon to their pokeballs, Lincoln walks to the nurse and picked up his Pokemon.
"You know, Trevor; if you are going to find a water Pokemon for your team, you should make room for it." said Serena.
"Good idea." said Trevor. He walks to the Pokemon Center's PC and uses it to send his Venipede to storage. After that, the group exited the Pokemon Center and began walking to the Tower of Mastery. Once arriving, they entered the tower; upon entering, they were approached by Gurrkin.
"Oh, hello, Lincoln." said Gurrkin.
"Hello, sir." replied Lincoln. Gurkinn reaches into a satchel he was carrying and pulls out five black bracelets with multicolored stones on them. He gives Lincoln and his friends one each.
"These are the Mega Rings I told you all about earlier today." said Gurrkin. "With these, you'll be able to Mega Evolve your Pokemon."
"But I don't have a Mega Stone." said Serena.
"I believe you'll obtain your own one day." said Gurrkin; Serena smiles in response. Lincoln and his friends put the Mega Rings around their wrists.
"This is so cool." said Lincoln, looking at his new Mega Ring.
"Now, if you all will follow me to the top of the tower, each of you will battle me to see if you are worthy of the knowledge of Mega Evolution." said Gurrkin.
"But sir, our Pokemon haven't reached their final forms for our Mega Stones to work on." said Shauna.
"I have already prepared a Pokemon for each of you to use that can Mega Evolve." said Gurrkin; Lincoln and his friends nod in response. The group and Gurrkin begin walking up a stairway that spiraled upward around the tower.
"Man, it's a...real long walk." said Tierno, breathing heavily.
"Considering how huge the tower is, a long walk going up it shouldn't be a surprise to us." said Shauna. After several minutes of walking, they reached the top of the tower. They walk through an entryway and found themselves on a large balcony.
"This is where each of you will be tested." said Gurrkin. "Now, which of you will go first?"
"I will." said Lincoln.
"Very well." said Gurrkin. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pokeball. "In this pokeball is the Pokemon you will use; it is one of the Lucarios my granddaughter has been entrusted with."
"Thanks, but I already have a Lucario." said Lincoln.
"But the Lucario I have has Lucarionite." said Gurrkin.
"Oh, okay then." replied Lincoln. Gurrkin gives Lincoln the Lucario's pokeball. Lincoln tosses the Lucario's pokeball and releases it; Gurrkin tosses another pokeball and releases another Lucario.
"So, how do I Mega Evolve Pokemon?" asked Lincoln.
"You must concentrate your feelings towards Lucario until his connects with yours." said Gurrkin. "When you two become in sync with another's emotions, touch the stone on your Mega Ring, and the Mega Stone that Lucario has will activate, causing him to Mega Evolve." Lincoln looks at his Mega Ring.
"Here goes nothing." said Lincoln. He closes his eyes and does what Gurrkin explained; an aura surrounds his body.
"What's happening to Lincoln?" asked Shauna; an aura appears around Lucario also. Streams of energy comes out of Lincoln's aura and Lucario's aura; both streams of energy connect. Lincoln touches the stone on his Mega Ring and a bright light envelops Lucario. When the light faded, Lucario fur on his upper body was shaggier, his hands, feet, and the tips of his ears were red, and he now had two spikes on his hands instead of one; a rainbow colored dna helix appeared above Mega Lucario and then it disappears.
"Well done, Lincoln; you have successfully Mega Evolved Lucario into Mega Lucario." said Gurrkin.
"This...is...awesome!" said Lincoln. Gurrkin holds up his left hand, revealing a black, fingerless glove that had a stone similar to the one on Lincoln's Mega Ring; Gurrkin touches the stone and an aura surrounds his body and his Lucario's body. Streams of energy comes out of the auras and they connect; Gurrkin's Lucario Mega Evolves into Mega Lucario.
"Cool." said Tierno.
"Now, Lincoln; we will now have our Lucario's battle one another." said Gurrkin. "And seeing how you already have a Lucario, you probably know the moves the Mega Lucario you're using should know." Lincoln nods in response.
"Okay, Mega Lucario, use Swords Dance!" said Lincoln. Mega Lucario closes his eyes and meditates; glowing blue swords appear around Mega Lucario and they cross together; Mega Lucario becomes surrounded by a red aura and his attack strength increases.
"Mega Lucario, use Bone Rush!" said Gurrkin. His Mega Lucario puts his paws together and spreads them apart, creating a yellow bone of energy; he strikes Lincoln's Mega Lucario with it, dealing super effective damage.
"Mega Lucario, use Counter!" said Lincoln. His Mega Lucario becomes surrounded by an orange aura and he punches Gurrkin's Mega Lucario, dealing super effective damage.
"Mega Lucario, use Power-Up Punch!" said Gurrkin. His Mega Lucario leaps at Lincoln's Mega Lucario while an orange aura surrounds its paw and it punches Lincoln's Mega Lucario with it, dealing super effective damage to him; energy surges through Gurrkin's Mega Lucario and its attack strength increases.
"Mega Lucario, Force Palm!" said Lincoln. His Mega Lucario leaps at Gurrkin's Mega Lucario while his palm glowed light blue and he strikes Gurrkin's Mega Lucario with it, dealing super effective damage with it; Gurrkin's Mega Lucario begins twitching.
"Gurrkin's Mega Lucario's paralyzed." said Trevor.
"Mega Lucario, try using Bone Rush!" said Gurrkin. Unfortunately, paralysis stops his Mega Lucario from attacking.
"Mega Lucario, use Bone Rush!" said Lincoln. Mega Lucario puts his paws together and spreads them apart, creating a light green bone of energy; his Mega Lucario strikes Gurrkin's Mega Lucario with it, dealing enough damage to knock it out; it returns to its regular form.
"Way to go, Lincoln!" said Tierno.
"That was great!" said Shauna; Lincoln's Mega Lucario returns to its regular form. Gurkinn walks to his Lucario who was recovering from the battle.
"You fought well, Lucario." said Gurrkin. He takes a Super Potion out of his satchel and sprays Lucario with it, healing its wounds; he then walks to Lincoln. "Well done, Lincoln; you did the Mega Evolution quite well."
"Thanks, Gurrkin." said Lincoln. "That Mega Evolving is amazing." Gurrkin turned towards Lincoln's friends.
"Now, which of you will try Mega Evolution next?" asked Gurrkin.
"I will." said Shauna.
Gurrkin tested Lincoln's friends and they were all able to Mega Evolve the Lucario and defeat Gurrkin in battle.
Later, Lincoln and his friends left the Tower of Mastery and began walking to the Shalour City Pokemon Center.
"Man, that Mega Evolution was awesome." said Lincoln.
"I'll say." said Tierno.
"I hope to get my own Mega Stone some day." said Serena.
"Gurrkin believes you will, so you might." said Shauna.
Later, at the Shalour City Pokemon Center, after the group showered and brushed their teeth, Lincoln, Tierno, and Trevor went to a sleeping quarters while Shauna and Serena walked to another. Minutes later, they were lying in their beds, looking at the Mega Rings on their wrists; they soon fell asleep.
Lincoln and his friends have done their first Mega Evolutions. What else will the group experience as their Kalos adventure continues.
