Flashback From Another Life

Three weeks had passed since the last ghost attack in Amity Park. Everyone was on edge expecting some huge attack to happen at any given moment. Two particular residents were especially feeling this for different reasons. It would be three if the third wasn't currently in a different world.

Vlad Masters was currently in his office at Amity Park Town Hall. He was supposed to be doing paper work but instead only tapped repeatedly on the top of the stack. He'd accidentally made a wish to that stupid genie ghost. Usually any wish granted by her were immediately effective, but not this time. No this time because he'd let his guard down and didn't notice her until it was too late. Sure Daniel had had a couple times after the wish was granted but nothing major happened in them and there was no change in the boy. A month has gone by since the wish and three weeks have passed since any ghost entered the human realm. Something huge was coming and Daniel was going to be at the center of it. Vlad groaned as he reread the same paper for the umpteenth time. This was all his fault.

Across town at the Nasty Burger Danny Fenton was going through the motions of pretending to eat while hanging out with his friends. Something was wrong with him but he didn't know what. It didn't help that there hadn't been an attack in weeks. At first when the ghosts didn't attack he tried to catch up on sleep and he did... for only two nights. Then he started sleeping less and less until he didn't feel the need to sleep at all. Now his need to eat was slowly fading as well. He wanted to tell Jazz and his friends but Jazz would either become over protective with worry or psychoanalyze him while worrying. If he told his friends then they'd be both versions of his sister and that's even worse!

"-nny? Earth to Danny? Are you in there?" Tucker was calling his name while Sam was stealing his fries.

"Did I zone out? Why were you calling me and stop taking my fries!"

"Well you've been annoying the crap out of us with the empty milkshake so I think I have a right to take your fries."

Danny looked down to see he had managed to drink the entire shake. He pouted as he watched Sam take his last fry and wave it in his face before eating it. Unfortunately the milkshake seemed to have filled him up, at least he'd eaten some of his burger before that happened.

"What had you so lost in thought, usually you only do that when we encounter Paulina."

"I've been wondering if something's going on in the Ghost Zone. There hasn't been an attack for awhile and I haven't even seen the occasional animal or blob ghost that like to wander. Whatever's happening I want to find out before it's too late." He also wanted to know why his need to eat and sleep were slowly fading.

"How're you gonna find out?"

"I'm going into the Ghost Zone myself to see what the heck is going on."

Sam stood up from the booth. "Do you want us to go in with you?"

The halfa shook his head. "No, the Speeder is currently being upgraded and the air would be toxic for you without it." That wasn't entirely true. His parent's were going to start upgrades on the speedster next month. He also planned on going to clockwork to make sure HE was still locked away. He and Clockwork were the only ones who knew, who remembered, and it was going to stay that way.

The trio walked out of their favorite (only) fast food restaurant. Sam waved bye to the boys before heading towards the richer side of town.

Danny and Tucker headed towards the other less rich part of town until they reached the techno geek's house first. The boys said their goodbyes and Danny was left to continue his journey alone.

Instead of going home like he was originally Danny decided to question one person who might know more about what's happening in the GZ that wasn't one of its residents. Glancing to make sure no one was nearby Danny quietly whispered his signature catchphrase and transformed. He turned invisible and flew towards city hall.

Vlad was still staring at his ever growing stack of paperwork. He let out a tired sigh, officially giving up on doing any work today. He felt a slight tingle go down his spine. It felt slightly different than the other times his ghost sense has gone off but he still knew who it was attempting to sneak up on him. The older man turned to the chair opposite his desk. "Why did you come here, Daniel?"

The younger halfa appeared on the chair sitting with his legs slung on one of the arms. "I think you know why."

"I would hope its about you finally becoming my son but you're more likely wondering if I know about the current situation happening in the Ghost Zone."

Danny let himself transform back into his human form. "Well do you?"

Vlad turned away from the young teen that he could teach so many things if he'd actually let him. "I might."
