Chapter 6 – Reconstruction in Progress!
It's been three days since Rias' peerage finished the first floor of the dungeon and left.
Cain used this time to expand his dungeon and create traps for his next guests. He was engrossed in planning and modifying the dungeon layout to make it slightly harder but not impossible to clear for newbies.
He had added more rooms, corridors and stairs, making sure that the first floor of the dungeon had four main paths; one was a safe path with almost no danger, only traps. Second was a challenging path with monsters. Third was a shortcut with a high chance of getting lost.
And the fourth... was an exciting and dangerous path with lots of traps and enemies. If anyone could beat that, then they'd get a great reward at the end.
He decided to delete the first boss and made it a mini-boss that guarded the path to the second floor. Of course, this boss is still stronger than the Hobgoblin. And then, for the second floor, he decided to introduce a new monster.
Looking at his finished dungeon, he couldn't help but smile. He had to admit it was pretty damn good! It would surely surprise Rias' group.
However, Cain still had one problem.
"Hmm, I should limit the entry to 6 people, the standard party members in a video game..." he mused, "I can get more coins if more people go inside the dungeon. But I can't let the quality of the experience decrease. This is a newbie dungeon, so creating this kind of system should be enough. I'll increase it later."
If there were too many people and the dungeon felt pretty easy, he wouldn't get enough emotion to convert into Coins. So limiting people like this would definitely get him the result he wanted. With less people, the dungeon would be more difficult, generating more intense emotion.
With that done, he opened up a setting for the dungeon and limited the entry to 6 people per party, then changed the system message so that it informed newcomers of the new rule.
"Now, let's wait for someone to enter the dungeon... They should be able to enter again today. I wonder how their party composition is."
Cain sat back on his seat. He had no idea how much time would pass until his next visitors appeared. But he was willing to wait.
In fact, he enjoyed this part of his new job.
Waiting and planning, watching and recreating. It was relaxing.
In his previous life, he had spent countless hours playing games and reading manga. And now, he could get anything he wanted just by playing this dungeon game. Even his own life had become like an anime or game.
"System, can I watch the challengers in the real world? Like directly walking with them and join their party?"
Ding*
[It's impossible right now.]
"Right now, huh? Fine. I guess I will upgrade my authority or level first before I am able to experience my dungeon directly."
He chuckled and leaned back in his chair, "System, open my current status."
Ding*
Status:
Name: Cain Volper
Title: Dungeon King (1), The King (1).
Fame: 0
Coins: 1,850
Authority: 1
Ability:
King's Privilege
"Hmm... How can I increase my authority?"
Ding*
[Authority will rise depending on the growth of the dungeon and the level of its creation. It can also increase with fame and titles.]
"Level 2 will unlock more features, I assume. But to gain fame and get more titles? System, what is the condition?"
Beep*
The robotic voice answered, but this time it sounded slightly different. Cain could feel an excitement in the voice that he had never heard before.
[You can gain Fame and Title from completing achievements. Every time an achievement is completed, your fame increases by one point. If the achievement is very impressive, your fame increases by more points.]
[Pro tips: Giving a dungeon a theme will make it easier to gain Fame.]
"Ah, I see..." He scratched his chin. He understood the meaning behind it. "I am on the right track."
After finishing the modification of the Fun Fun Dungeon!, he felt bored because there was nothing else he could do. So he checked the System's settings to change how the screen looked.
At that moment, an alarm he set if a challenger entered his dungeon rang. Cain got excited and opened the screen showing the entrance. He looked at the six challengers that entered and exclaimed.
"Oh!" His eyes went wide, a grin spread on his face. "This time, the cast changed!"
[Fun Fun Dungeon! Limit: 6 people!]
Rias read the message and looked back to the cave's entrance. She frowned and shook her head before saying to the group, "The rules have changed. It only allows 6 people to enter."
She looked at Sona and the others behind her.
Sona had come to help with her peerage to check on the dungeon after hearing about it from Rias. And since there are enough in the Sitri peerage, they were ready to enter safely, but...
"It seems that we have a problem." She turned towards the red-headed girl and spoke with an emotionless tone. "I don't think you will agree to have your peerage to stay behind while we investigate this dungeon, no?"
"We found this first, so we have priority." Rias asserted herself. Her peerages were standing behind her with their heads held high. They were confident that they wouldn't let themselves be outdone by anyone else. And even if Sona's group was stronger, they still wouldn't give up easily.
"I'm sorry, Sona. You should have gotten here first." She crossed her arms in front of her ample chest and continued speaking confidently. "But we still have a slot left. If you don't want to leave someone behind, then one of you should join our party. That's my proposal. What do you think?"
"Ara, that's a good idea." Akeno chuckled at this proposal.
However, Sona didn't look pleased.
"I need to bring Tsubaki with me too. Give us two spots."
"I will only give you one spot. We are being kind now." Rias shook her head. "If you don't want to, we will enter now. The dungeon might only open three days later for the next group."
Looking at the red-head's smirk, Sona looked at the people in her group. Rias and her peerage had been inside before, so they had experience. While she didn't want to leave someone behind, it would be dangerous if they encountered unknown things. It was better if someone in her group entered together.
"Rias," she turned toward the red-haired girl, "Fine. Only I will join your party this time. Tsubaki will wait for us outside."
"It's a deal, then."
After that, both of the peerage groups agreed to work together and began to prepare to enter the cave. The members who were to stay behind were told to keep guard in case something happened.
Chapter 7 – Slime, Cost Effective Monster!
As he watched the scene before him, Cain grinned from ear to ear.
"Hehehe, this time the dungeon will be different."
Before, he only had 2 hours to set monsters and traps, making it a pretty simple and easy dungeon. But this time, he set the dungeon carefully, using the 3 days he had to prepare. He was confident that it would be harder and more challenging than the last time.
Now the first floor was a labyrinth with traps, enemies, and puzzles. There would be two hidden treasure rooms. But of course, there were also dangerous traps that would kill the intruders in a matter of seconds. The dungeon's monster wasn't too dangerous, though.
"A slime?"
Rias and her party encountered a monster immediately after they entered the cave. They were greeted by an amorphous blob-like creature with a greenish tint. It moved slowly and seemed harmless enough. Issei stepped closer to take a look, curious as to what it was. Then...
"Grooooooo!"
A big green slime dropped from the ceiling and splashed onto him. He was swallowed whole and panicked.
"Waaaaaaah! President, save me!"
"Oh no! Ise!" Kiba shouted, rushing over to help his friend. He unsheathed his sword and slashed at the monster.
Unfortunately, he wasn't able to do any damage. The cut immediately closed back up, regenerating. The slime then stretched out two tentacles toward Kiba who slashed it again.
"Hmph!" Koneko jumped in, smashing the tentacles. However, they simply grew back again.
"Let's get him out first!" Sona said. She created a magic circle on her hands and water sprayed from the circle.
Rias and Akeno also did the same and soon Issei was freed. But the slime wasn't dead.
"Groooooooo!"
It roared, spitting a ball of gloo towards Koneko. It exploded in midair, showering everyone with green goop.
"Ew, what's this?!" Akeno cried out as the liquid seeped into her clothes.
"Kya!" Rias exclaimed when she realized her uniform was soaked. The slime's tentacle reached out for her but was stopped by Sona, who had created an ice wall.
"Everyone, get away from the monster! I will deal with it myself." she commanded, summoning a water blade in her right hand.
Sona slashed the slime's tentacles with the water blade. The tentacle fell to the ground and quickly dissolved into nothingness.
Seeing her magic worked, the other devil girls started casting spells. Akeno, being the Queen of thunder magic in Rias' peerage, began to conjure up bolts of electricity and shot them at the slime. Her attacks were powerful and killed the second slime in one go.
Slurp~
"Wow, they realized it quickly." Cain muttered as he slurped the cola he bought from the dungeon store. "Slimes are versatile, aren't they? 200 Coins for 20 perfect mobs for the first floor. They are pretty resistant to punch and slash, but weak against magic."
Not only that, they were also made from liquid that made clothes transparent.
After thinking about it, lust and happiness were also emotions that would give him coins. He wondered if there were other ways he could earn coins besides fear and adrenaline.
With Issei being there, Cain thought he surely would get more coins if he did this. As a matter of fact, he could see Issei almost drooled when Rias and Akeno's clothes got wet earlier.
Maybe he needed to experiment a bit more?
The party defeated the green slime in less than 5 minutes, but it cost them quite a bit of energy to do so. However, being a Devil, they didn't need much rest and soon they were back up on their feet again.
"I thought I'd have to use my Boosted Gear," Issei said as he looked at the remains of the slime. "I guess I don't have to worry too much about it."
"I agree, but we need to be careful," Sona replied calmly, "That monster... Slimes? So it's real that monsters from the game appeared in this place. And they could only be killed with magic, making it troublesome for people who couldn't use it."
"Yep! But that's what makes it interesting! I wonder if this place really is a game or something." Issei's excitement showed no signs of fading even after he'd just been attacked.
"It's not. This is real," Sona stated firmly. "I'm concerned about what will happen if these creatures escape into town. Unlike Stray Devils, they are monsters that attack without a reason. They might even attack innocent people."
"Oh... Yeah, you're right..." Issei scratched the back of his head. "Then we really have to investigate this place carefully and thoroughly. We don't want to miss any details that might cause trouble later on."
"That's correct. Now, let's go."
As they ventured further into the dungeon, they were faced with multiple branching paths.
"Ugh... It's a maze," Issei complained, looking around. "Last time it was a straight path to the boss room, but now..."
"Yes, Ise-kun. I guess we can't go straight to the boss this time," Kiba agreed with Issei.
"Then we should choose our path. Which one should we go to?" Rias asked, crossing her arms. "There are 4 paths in total. A straight path, a left turn, a right turn, and a back path. We could try to split up and check all four routes but that would be dangerous."
Rias pondered and decided to choose one. She didn't want to risk her entire party in this maze so she decided that they'd take the safest option available. The path at the back.
They began to explore the labyrinth carefully. As they traversed through the corridors of the dungeon, they encountered some traps and more slimes, but nothing too serious or life-threatening yet. The traps were more troublesome than dangerous.
"Ack! Ise-kun, don't step on that."
"What? W-What is this?"
When Issei stepped on the stone floor, he found himself falling down a pitfall trap. Fortunately, the hole wasn't deep enough for him to die, and the others quickly pulled him out.
"T-That was dangerous." He placed his hand on his chest, feeling his heartbeat slowly return to normal.
"I think the traps are getting more and more dangerous as we progress deeper into the labyrinth," Kiba said. He glanced around at all of the traps he'd seen along the way. "I believe the dungeon has these to prevent intruders from going deeper. We must be vigilant."
"You're correct." Sona crossed her arms under her chest. "It's best to slow down. Let's observe the traps before we proceed. We will take care of any slime we see. If we're unlucky, we might get ambushed in the trap."
"I agree." Rias nodded, "Akeno, stay behind Koneko. Yuuto, go ahead and find the path. I will follow right behind you with Sona. Issei, please take the middle."
Everyone agreed to Rias's plan, so they proceeded slowly. Kiba took the lead, while Issei stayed behind. Rias and Sona walked side by side. Kiba found a path and carefully checked it before stepping onto it.
"There is a clearing ahead. Maybe there will be a monster waiting."
"I'll take the front then," Issei said, stepping ahead. His gauntlet was already activated, and he was ready to fight. He moved to the front and peered around the corner.
"Boost!"
The clearing was large, almost as if it had been dug specifically for a monster encounter. The room was wide enough that the group could easily stand in it, and it was long enough that if they wanted to make a quick escape.
In the center, a large monster stood holding an axe. Its skin was green, similar to a goblin, but its body was even bigger than the hobgoblin. Its arms, as thick as a log, filled with muscle, and it was covered in armor that resembled leather.
"It's an orc," Rias whispered and frowned as she recognized the monster.
Orc was a monster famous in RPG and a rather questionable game for their... relationship with women. Orcs were well-known for capturing female knights and using them to satisfy their sexual desire. They were a popular target for those who enjoyed roleplay. Of course, in real life, no one wanted that to happen to them, but it was a very erotic image.
Those who read such stories immediately associated the monster with that bad image. As a result...
"Boost! Boost! Boost!" Issei's gauntlet was shining as he pumped himself to fight.
He gritted his teeth and jumped in front of Issei.
"President's boobs are mine! I won't let a monster like you touch her!"
"Wow..." Cain was impressed by the pervert on the screen. He could see that Issei had gone to great lengths to protect the girl he loved. The power of lust and greed, indeed. "System, how many Coins did I earn from Issei just now?"
Ding*
[You earned 50 coins.]
"Ah, not that much. But it's good enough for just one show."
He thought the power of lust and greed should have been more effective.
However, when he thought about it again, the coin he earned was really good. Issei didn't show an intense reaction just now, and he obtained 50 coins from that.
If Issei were to meet a naked girl, he would surely react crazier.
"Let's put that aside for now, and continue watching."
The group had already begun to battle against the Orc.
Chapter 8 – Orc Attack!
The Orc swung its axe and roared in rage, charging towards the group.
Koneko and Issei stood in the front to take the Orc's attacks, but Issei's punches were more effective against it. The monster stumbled back slightly after getting punched by Boosted Gear with 4 times boost.
"Sona! We need to combine magic! We will defeat it together!"
Rias raised her hands and summoned several demonic magic spheres. Akeno also summoned a lightning sphere, and the two women stood together with their backs pressed against one another. Their hands moved at the same time, and a stream of lightning and a ball of destruction shot out from their fingers. The two girls launched their attacks at the same time and aimed at the monster.
Meanwhile, Sona cast her magic spell as well. Her hands formed a circle and a torrent of water shot forth from the center.
The Orc roared as it was struck by the three powerful spells, but somehow, it still managed to stay standing and swing its axe. It hit the wall behind him with its weapon, breaking off a large chunk of stone from the ground.
"Raaaaa!"
It roared loudly and swung its giant axe at the group. Wind split from the impact, and a strong gust blew past them, knocking down Akeno, who lost balance. Rias tried to hold onto her but failed, falling backward instead.
Koneko jumped up and kicked the axe, sending the Orc stumbling backward. Then, Issei charged forward and delivered a powerful blow, smashing the orc in its chest. Following that, Kiba slashed its legs and arms with a sword, cutting deeply into the Orc's flesh.
"Uuuuuoo!"
The Orc groaned in pain, but still didn't fall. It swung its axe once more, trying to crush everyone. Issei, however, blocked it by raising his arm and punching it away.
"Boost!"
He then proceeded to attack the monster's chest and abdomen with his fists, sending it flying backward.
"President!" He shouted as he continued to punch the monster over and over again, using the boosted gear's power.
"Ise! You are doing well. Now, let me finish it." Rias said, summoning a huge sphere of destruction.
She shot it, and it exploded on contact with the monster, sending pieces flying everywhere. Afterward, she looked around and saw that they were still surrounded by rubble. But the enemy was nowhere to be seen. It was probably destroyed.
"That's it, it's dead." Issei sighed in relief and looked at Rias. She was sweating heavily, her face red from exhaustion.
"I think so..." She replied and nodded.
"President, are you okay? You look really exhausted..." He said, concerned for her condition.
Rias smiled weakly and said, "It's alright. More importantly, we need to confirm the monster is gone first."
"I think it's dead." Sona said from the side, finding a blown-up arm with green skin on the floor. "This must belong to that Orc. I believe the rest of the body has disappeared already. We won this time."
"My, my~" Akeno smiled. "This dungeon sure has monsters with bad reputations, right~? It's so strong that the President needs to finish it off."
"You're right, Akeno." Rias nodded, "Yuuto, please be careful in scouting the area," She said to the blonde knight.
He had just returned to the group and sheathed his sword.
"Yes, President."
"Now we have to choose doors, right?" Issei exclaimed while looking around. But there was no path leading further.
Instead...
[Congratulations! You have defeated Orc - First Floor Boss]
[Will you continue to the second floor or end the Dungeon Run?]
"This..."
"A choice?"
Rias muttered and Sona narrowed her eyes.
Yes, a notification rang in the large clearing, asking the party to choose.
In the dungeon master room, Cain chuckled and rubbed his hand together.
"Okay. This is a test for the newcomers." Cain grinned.
When renovating the dungeon, he found this system and decided to use it to make it feel like the dungeon was just a game. This way, the challengers won't be too cautious and would challenge the dungeon again and again.
But that wouldn't be enough. That's why he decided to add something else.
"Oh, it looks like they are advancing?" He muttered as he saw the Devil party teleported to the second floor.
Unlike the first floor, the second floor's wall was refined, smooth without cracks. It looked like a real corridor instead of a cave, and there were even torches on the wall, illuminating the whole floor. The floor was also flat and smooth, making it easier to walk around and fight.
However, the path was narrower than the first floor, making it difficult for more than two people to fight together. There were a few rooms here and there, and each of them contained traps and enemies. Some were locked by a puzzle or required to find a switch in a certain room.
"It's like a real dungeon." Cain commented, proud of his masterpiece as he watched Rias and her group traversed the second floor.
Unlike the previous floor, which had a maze and traps, this one was more like a puzzle dungeon. The group needed to solve puzzles and riddles, find hidden passages and secret doors.
Of course, because this was a beginner dungeon, the puzzles and riddles weren't so hard. For example...
"Find the green stone." A sign on the wall read.
And when Koneko found it on a shelf, they heard a clicking sound. It was a hidden door. When opened, the door revealed a small room with an empty treasure chest inside. It seemed to be a treasure room.
"Hm? A treasure chest?" Rias exclaimed. "Should we check it?"
"It might be a trap." Sona said.
"Let's check it." Issei said. He stepped inside carefully, looking for traps and triggers.
There was nothing that screamed like it. And so, he approached the chest and opened it carefully.
Creak-
"What is inside... Oooh, look at this! A red potion!" He took a vial of red liquid from inside. "Is it really a potion?"
"Let me see."
Seeing that the situation was safe, Rias approached and took the potion. She looked at it closely, moving the vial in different directions.
"I believe this is a potion of some sort." She said, her anime loving mind immediately thinking of a game's healing potion.
"Let me see it." Sona said and approached, taking a vial of the liquid. She observed the potion carefully, then uncorked it and smelled it. After sniffing it, she looked at the bottle with an expressionless look and corked it back. "It smells like nothing. We need to test this first before using it. Who knows if this is a poison instead?"
"That would be true. This dungeon is filled with danger. We need to be wary of every little detail."
Rias and the others nodded at this statement, but the red-haired heiress sounded excited over this finding. After getting the vial, the group decided to leave. They continued to solve the puzzle one after another until they arrived at a door at the end.
There, they found another sign.
"Don't push this. Be careful, it's dangerous!" A red button was installed on the wall.
"This..." Issei looked at the others. They looked back at him.
Silence penetrated the dungeon's corridor.
Chapter 9 – Don't Push!
A red button with the sign 'Don't push.' A typical trope that anyone who watched or played games would recognize. Of course, they had to push it.
"Is it a trap?" Issei asked, "I mean... This is the most obvious trap ever."
"But we don't know what would happen if we didn't push the button." Rias said.
"I agree. It might open a door to a shortcut, or it might be an item. Or maybe the boss room is beyond this." Kiba added, his eyes full of curiosity.
"Either way, this is the only path." Sona pushed her glasses up, "We can't proceed further if we don't push it."
"Then... Do we need to push it?" Issei gulped, "I don't like traps..."
"Who would?" Rias said, "Issei, you push the button."
"Eeeeeeh?" Issei exclaimed, shocked, "Me?"
"Well, you're our Pawn." She shrugged her shoulders and smirked. "Or do you want Koneko to be the one pushing that button?" She said and glanced at the white-haired girl.
Koneko looked back at Issei and shrugged, "... I am okay with that."
"Okay. I got it." Issei scratched his head, feeling guilty, "I will do it. But President, if I get hurt, can I touch your oppai as compensation?"
Rias grinned mischievously, crossed her arms under her ample breasts, causing them to jiggle, and said, "If it is necessary, I will give you permission. However, you can't get hurt."
"Yes, yes... Okay." Issei sighed. He knew she wouldn't be that nice, "So... How should we prepare?" He looked back at the red button, gulping.
Everyone looked at the button on the wall, not knowing what to expect. Kiba stood in the front while Koneko positioned herself on the left side. Their sword and fists were ready in case a trap sprung out or a monster attacked them from behind.
Rias and Akeno also stood together in the back while Issei positioned himself in the middle, his finger pointing at the red button. And then, with one push...
DING!
Tang tang tang tang!
The door to the left of the wall suddenly opened, and a bright light illuminated the whole area. It was a hidden path, revealing a staircase to the third floor. A triumphant melody rang around them as if celebrating the completion of the dungeon.
"Did we clear it?" Issei couldn't help but ask. His finger is still on the red button.
"It seems like it..." Sona said as she approached the staircase, looking around. The place seemed safe and she couldn't detect any danger, so she turned back, "There's no sign of any trap. I don't sense anything dangerous. Let's continue to the third floor."
"Wait, we need to be ready first." Rias stopped them by raising her hand, "This flow... I recognize it. There might be the strongest monster waiting for us there."
"A Boss?" Issei muttered and looked around, his face paled, "What? But... How can you tell?"
"I have been playing enough games and watching dungeons in anime." Rias answered, puffing her chest proudly, "It seems like the creator of this place is inspired by them."
"I agree." Akeno nodded. Her long black hair swaying around her, "But if there's a boss, we can beat it, right? After all, we have our President and Sona-senpai."
"That is true. I agree. But we still have to be cautious. If the enemy is strong enough, we might have to fight for our lives." Rias looked around at her peers. Her eyes narrowed, and her expression turned serious.
"Ise. Be on your guard."
"Yes!" Issei nodded.
They proceeded through the path, climbing up the staircase carefully.
Upon arriving on the third floor, the room was completely different from the first and second floors.
The third floor's design was that of a coliseum arena with a high ceiling. There were rows of stone seats on either side, arranged like bleachers. They were empty now, but they gave the place a sense of grandeur.
In the center of the arena, there stood an imposing figure—a huge, muscular minotaur. Beside him, twenty slimes could be seen bouncing up and down with a wet sound.
Rias gasped as soon as she saw the monster. She knew how powerful that Minotaur was from the myths. If the dungeon's monsters followed their original myth, then this would be the toughest battle yet.
"I think this is the final stage of this floor," she said with a voice loud enough everyone could hear, "A minotaur and 20 slimes. It's a bit much for me to handle alone."
"I agree," Issei said, his voice shaking a bit, "This is not going to be easy. But we should try."
"Yes," Rias said, her expression stern but determined, "Let's do it. Issei, I will allow promotion for your pawn pieces."
Issei's expression immediately became excited, "Alright! Promotion, Queen!" He clenched his fists, feeling the power surging within his body. It was an incredible feeling. He could feel his muscles growing stronger and his body getting faster.
"Rooooooar!" The Minotaur bellowed loudly, raising its huge axe, "Graaaaah!" Its roar reverberated throughout the arena.
Splash- Splash-
The green slimes jumped up and down, their bodies quivering with anticipation.
"Ise, Yuuto and Koneko! Keep the minotaur in check. We will deal with the slime," Rias ordered, her eyes narrowed, "Akeno, show them our power."
"My, my. So many of them are trying to make us wet, how lewd." Akeno smirked, lightning sparked from her hand as she prepared her thunder magic.
"Then, let us start." Sona raised her hand and water gushed from the floor like a water fountain, before shaping itself into spears.
The three vanguards, with Issei and Koneko in the front, charged at the Minotaur. The Minotaur swung its axe at the trio, sending shockwaves in the air.
Issei dodged it, the gem on his gauntlet shining in the dark. Kiba jumped over the axe's blade, landing safely on the other side. Koneko jumped up high and slammed her fist on the monster's head. Her fist smashed the monster and caused it to stumble.
But it didn't stop it. Instead, it swung its giant weapon again, aiming at Kiba who had been trying to find an opening. However, Issei managed to get in front of it just in time. He raised his gauntleted arm to stop the blow, using his body to take the impact of the axe. The axe crashed into him and pushed him back a bit.
"Ugh!"
At that moment, the slimes pounced at them, aiming their tentacles at Issei, but they were shot to the wall when Akeno blasted them with a lightning bolt. She followed it with another bolt that zapped the Minotaur. It roared in anger, but the electricity was not enough to kill it.
Chapter 10 – Bountiful Reward
"Oh, it's getting angry." Rias commented, she raised her hands and an array of magic circles appeared, "But this should do the trick."
Destruction sphere materialized and Rias shot it toward the monster, destroying a few slimes that were on the way, before exploding on the Minotaur. It bellowed in pain and anger as it fell backward onto the floor. Its right hand got destroyed, and the axe it held fell.
Meanwhile, Sona and Koneko teamed up against another bunch of slimes, shooting them with a combination of water spears and fists. As they fought, the slimes tried to wrap their tentacles around Sona's legs, but Koneko smashed it with her fists. They continued like that for several moments, destroying slime after slime.
Kiba slashed the remaining slime, his blade cutting through them like paper.
Every slime in the vicinity was slain before the Minotaur could recover. When it finally took the axe with its remaining hand, its skin turned red from rage.
"Grraaaaaaa!" The Minotaur howled and raised its axe high, aiming to strike down everyone.
Its speed was faster than before and Issei couldn't block it in time.
CLANG!
The axe slammed into the ground and the force sent Issei flying back.
"Damn!" Issei grunted. He quickly recovered and ran forward again.
The axe was too powerful. It was impossible to defend against without getting knocked down by its sheer strength alone. And it seemed that even after losing a hand, it still possessed immense power.
"You!" Koneko jumped forward, aiming a kick to its face, "Stay down!"
"Gruuu!" It growled angrily.
Kiba and Issei followed up from behind. The two men attacked the Minotaur from both sides simultaneously. It tried to swing its axe but missed. The attack left it wide open to attack.
"Let's go, Ise-kun!" Kiba yelled and charged in.
Issei roared as well and punched the monster in its abdomen. Kiba's blade cut through its shoulder while Issei continued to punch it repeatedly. Blood spurted from the wounds and the beast cried out in pain. It fell down and struggled to get up again.
But before it could do that, Koneko punched the monster, sending it back into a wall.
"President!" The perverted Pawn exclaimed, looking back to his king, "Now's the time to finish this!"
"I know." Rias answered and began charging up a big magic sphere.
She aimed at the Minotaur who was already badly injured.
"Akeno!"
"Yes!"
Sona joined in, using her water to add an effect to Rias' sphere, "This will finish you."
"And boom."
The screen in front of Cain shook greatly as the magic sphere exploded. It created a huge shockwave and a loud noise echoed through the dungeon. When the dust settled, the only thing left was a crater where the Minotaur had been.
"Wooo, amazing. Rias Gremory and Akeno Himejima's combination is deadly."
The Minotaur's body turned to ashes. Only its weapon remained. Cain clapped his hand at the sight.
"Well, that's a boss monster for you. The party won the second run of my dungeon." He said with a wide smile on his face. "Good job."
While the dungeon was defeated, he was pretty content with the outcome. It took the devils about 2 hours to finish the dungeon. And from his observation, he earned more Coins compared to when they cleared it for the first time.
"This means I can increase the difficulty of the dungeon if I want to earn more coins, huh?"
Of course, he knew there were people who were not as strong as Rias' peerage. Even if they were still in the early-stage story, Rias and Sona were high-ranking Devils, which means they were pretty strong. They were strong enough to be called Super High-Schooler level.
To put it simply, they were on a whole other level than your regular Devil.
Cain knew he had to make a dungeon that was challenging but also fun to play.
He wanted to create a place where people could have fun without worrying about dying. A game-like dungeon.
"But I need to increase my Fame and Authority first." He sighed and leaned back on his chair.
[Challengers have finished the dungeon.]
[Reward distributed!]
[Emotional Rewards:
Joy: 2500 Coins
Thrill: 3500 Coins
Sense of accomplishment: 550 Coins
Curiosity: 800 Coins
Lust: 1200 Coins
Excitement: 1000 Coins
Other Reward: 300 Coins]
"Nice, I got 9,850 coins." Cain nodded his head, looking at the amount of Coins he got.
The rewards were pretty good, and Issei's perverted behavior in the run earned him 1200 coins, which was a pretty good number despite how seldom he showed such emotion. Cain didn't know whether it was because of the girls' clothes being soaked in slime, or the fact that he imagined something else.
"This can be improved."
Maybe creating a dungeon with that theme in mind and gathering many perverted characters would work. There were many in the anime he had seen so far, after all.
"Hmm, maybe a love dungeon?"
Just as he thought about that, another notification rang.
[Challengers recognized your dungeon!]
[Your fame has increased by 1.]
"Hmm? Fame increased?"
The Dungeon Master couldn't help but frown. His Fame increased, which means his Authority might increase in the future.
[Due to the increase of your fame, a new authority is unlocked!]
Authority Level: 2
Monster Modification
Item Creation
"Oho! Monster Modification and Item Creation !" His eyes brightened at the sight, "Let's see..."
Monster Modification: Allows the dungeon master to modify an existing monster and add traits or change their appearance.
Item Creation: Allows the dungeon master to create items from the materials inside the dungeon.
"Monster Modification. Huh... Can I make an erotic orc or a lustful goblin? No, that's a stupid question." Cain sighed. "Maybe I can also create an elemental slime? A slime that shoots water, or thunder, or fire. Hmm... I can create a new mob."
The System only had a limited monster selection so far, so the Dungeon Maker had no choice but to make his own.
Cain couldn't help but smile when he saw the second skill.
"I can create items! I can't imagine how useful it would be."
Many ideas flashed through his mind, and he started thinking about how he could use this skill. However, the notification didn't stop at that.
[With the increased authority, you're now able to create a new dungeon in another location.]
"...Another location? So I can create another dungeon!? That means... I can expand?" He muttered, stroking his chin. "How interesting. This opens up a lot of possibilities. But... I will look into it later. First, system. Show me my current status."

Coins: 9,850
Authority: 2
Ability:
King's Privilege
Monster Modification
Item Creation
Dungeon available:
Fun Fun Dungeon! (G)
Empty Slot (?)
Dimension: [Highschool DxD]
In the ability section, there were two new authorities he gained earlier. And then, there was another section available. It was a list of dungeons under his control and the dimension he could put the dungeon in.
For now, there were only two. One was his Fun Fun Dungeon, which was somehow ranked G, and another slot. But the other slot didn't tell him much.
His coins increased by 9,850 coins from Rias' run. With this, he could renovate Fun Fun Dungeon! or create a new one.
"Hmm, the monsters will respawn after a while so I don't need to worry about it for now. Maybe I can invest these coins to create a new dungeon? There are many people in the DxD world after all. It will not hurt to have another dungeon in Kuoh or another town."
Thinking about it, creating a new dungeon meant increasing his fame. And it would mean he could increase his authority even further. After thinking for a while, he decided.
"System, create a new dungeon!"
