Marcus stood tall peering down into through broken window at her, his face frozen still and emotionless. Both their eyes were locked on each other; the silence seemed to linger as neither of them moved or spoke for a time. He was a large tall man, even for an immortal.

He wasn't what she had imagined; he looked no older than her despite his ancient age. He dressed sharply in simple black clothes with a long thick wool coat over top, short brown hair cleanly combed back. His face was plain with no unique defining features other than hooded eyes and deep green iris's that held something she couldn't quite pinpoint, something familiar yet strange and distant. She didn't like how it made her feel, along with the rising confusion of why he had still said nothing and not attacked her.

"I have been looking for you for a very long time." His deep voice finally broke the silence, his tone was stern.

She didn't respond, she stared back not breaking eye contact as she slowly slid her hand down by her side to retrieve the splintered metal shard she possessed earlier. He lifted his head ignoring her slight movement and sniffed the air looking toward the sky, it was slowly becoming lighter. What was he doing? She thought his actions were strange; did he want to see her burn in the lights rays?

His nose twitched at the air and she gripped the metal harder ready to drive it into his leg. She looked over at his leg to make a target and without him even looking at her he spoke up

"Don't even think about it." he snapped.

The still lingering natural obedience to the elders immediately compelled her to stop and let go of the weapon, or was it his intimidating presence? He was not an elder anymore, he was a hybrid. Even she knew this. He jumped down beside her and snatched up the metal and threw it away in one rapid movement. She didn't move, just stared at him as he now took a closer look at her.

He tilted his head only slightly, studding her features for a moment longer

"How does it feel to be so powerless, unable to protect your unborn child?" he taunted her

"How does it feel to be hunted by the coven who once served you?" she snarled back, her ice blue eyes began to glow and she bared her fangs defensively.

His face filled with anger and his eyes became the hybrid black, she had easily hit a nerve. Her heart pounded with a little fear hiding behind the stone expression she wore most her life.

He grunted and flicked his head back like flicking off her response

"The sun will rise soon," he said, his eyes shifted to the pole that pinned her in place. Her eyes followed him as he moved closer to the pole. She could only watch him when she began to realise she was starting to struggle to keep her head up. She felt a wave of dizziness and nausea flow over her, the shock of the accident was really starting to take its toll. Or could her legs be bleeding? she thought as she tried to stop her head bobbing back and forth.

She had not fed since the day before, everything seemed to fight against her survival and end her life story. Marcus noticed her head fall back as she lost her fight to keep her head up and eventually her eyes began to roll.

She tried desperately to stay awake and watched him though semi open eyes. He took hold of the pole in one hand and lifted it up with little effort. The metal screeched and moaned as the pole was pulled free and pushed toward the back of the bus finally freeing her.

The dizziness was instantly overtaken with the immense pain in her lower body and legs making her take in a sudden sharp breath. With her legs freed, she now knew they weren't broken, they were completely shattered. It would take days before they healed properly, even for a vampyre this amount of damage would take time to heal unless she had fresh human blood which would accelerate the healing.

There was no time for plans her eyes forced themselves to the back of her head and the looming darkness threatened to swallow her again, she now fought through the pain and the dizziness to remain conscious.

All she could handle was a drowsy state rolling back and forth, in and out of awareness. Now free she wanted to desperately move away from Marcus, but her limbs felt like they where encased in concrete, she hand no energy left.

She was a little surprised as he seemed to be as gentle as he could. He carefully wove one arm under her back and the other under her legs and gently lifted her up into his arms. She gasped in pain and tried to push away in her last futile efforts then finally lost her battle to keep conscious and fell limp.

Marcus looked up at the brightening sky and knew the sun would be up in minutes. He leapt clean out of the bus and into the street not caring if anyone saw his inhuman hybrid abilities to move quickly. Darting between cars, over rubbish and debris and around a dozen corners he finally shot into a small ally way knowing of a nearby day shelter when he suddenly stopped and perked his head up again. He sniffed the air and looked around him into the quiet vacant windows and shadows. He let out a small grunt of annoyance then carried on into the back allies.

Even though his skin was now tolerant to sun light it was still a new concept he was getting used to, the natural urgent fear to find shelter from the sun was still a strong instinct.

Swiftly moving around the corners down deeper into a labyrinth of dark alleyways, his nose told him he was being followed. Holding her closer he slowed his pace to a walk and browsed his surroundings again and took another whiff of air. This time it was from everywhere around him.

Lycans.

Four of them. One leapt down from a mangled fire escape that had collapsed into the opposing wall above him and came clearly in to view.

"Hand her over, and we'll let you walk outta here," The Lycan demanded cockily threatening to change form buy changing his eyes.

Marcus huffed amused at the lycans ignorance and smirked

"You want her, come and take her… if you can" He snapped back, his eyes changing black.
