Here's chapter five, enjoy!
Day after day, week after week she has watched Kiros sneak away. No never ever asks where he goes, not even his mother. His Aunt Dwala is overwhelmed with the lost of her brother and raising her son but Afua has no excuse.
One day the young pale yellow lioness followed the lion guard's fastest. She followed the white lion to the eastern.borders of the Pride Lands where the older lion was crying his heart and eyes out. She felt her heart ache at the sight before her eyes.
"Kiros..."
The white lion's ears flickered before he lifted his head to see a familiar pale lioness looking at him with concern in her bluish eyes.
"Tala? What are you doing out here?"
"I could ask you the same thing?" Tala frowned before sitting besides the large male. "You run off to cry everyday? Why?"
Kiros sighed. "So I won't seem weak. It's my job to be strong for the pride and my sisters...imagine what I would look like crying in front of everyone! I'm apart of the lion guard! I can't be seen as weak!"
Tala lowered her gaze. "You're...grieving. They will understand, everyone... even the strongest warriors need time to grieve, Kiros."
Kiros looked up with surprised pale blue eyes. "You don't think I'm weak?"
Tala shook her head, her ears pinned back."Not at all. I think you're quite brave and I'm very sorry for your lost. I know all too well what's it like losing a parent."
Kiros pinned his ears against his head as he looked towards the evening sky. "I gave him so much grief about not telling his mate about me. I heard that they argued and Auri never got to... reconcile with my father."
Tears began to fall and began to matting the white lion's fur and white mane.
Tala frowned and before she knew what she was doing, she moved closer and nuzzled into Kiros' white mane. Kiros closed his eyes and leaned in. Laying his head on top of the Tala's accepting the comfort he desperately needed.
~TLK~
A bloody paw had came flying out of the darkness towards him as laughter that sent chills through his entire body echoed endlessly in his head.
Prince Jashua woke up screaming, tears rapidly falling down his face.
The current Queen-Regent, while Mheetu and Eshe were on a diplomatic visit to another kingdom, jumped awake before she quickly pulled her grandson close and nuzzled him. "Hush, dear. It's alright, it was a bad nightmare."
Jashua sobbed into his grandmother's light beige chest. "But it was real! That lion... he..killed Tojo! I'm scared.. What if he comes back to kill me?"
Sarabi smiled lightly before she licked the top of her grandson's head. "Sweetheart, you don't have to worry about that lion. He's..gone and won't be coming back anytime soon, my love."
Jashua smiled lightly but Sarabi knew that her grandson was still upset.
The dark beige lioness nuzzled the future king before looking into the pale cream cub's orange eyes. "My mother, your grandmother whom your mother is named after use to sing me a song when I was afraid."
A bit of light returned to Jashua's eyes as he looked excitedly at his grandmother. "Can I hear it?"
Sarabi chuckled before looking out of the cave they were in on priderock and looked at the dozens of twinkling stars.
"Listen to the wind blown
See the mighty eagle soar
Feel the sun on your face.."
Jashua smiled as he sat by his grandmother's side and listened to her calming voice.
" ..Trust that you will find your way
And when a night is cold and dark
You know that you have fire in your heart
Be strong, be brave
Let courage lead the way
Stand tall and know who you are.."
Sarabi nuzzled her violet nose against Jashua's nose causing the cub to giggle.
" ..Wild heart, wild soul
Roam free to the unknown
And know that you have everything you need
to be fearless… fearless
And the storm clouds fill th sky
Listen to the thunder inside.."
Right at that moment, thunder roared outside causing Jashua to jump in fear as lighting flashed across the night sky before rain started to fall.
Another roar of thunder made the pale cream cub to cuddle against the dark beige lioness' side.
Sarabi smiled warmly as she nuzzled her daughter's son, reassuring Jashua that he's safe before continuing to sing.
"...Be strong, be brave
Let courage lead the way
Stand tall and know who you are
Wild heart, wild soul
Roam free to the unknown
And know that you have everything you need.."
Jashua looked up at his grandmother, still frightened by the storm and his nightmare.
" ..To be fearless
Your restlessly long to break free
Relentlessly searching
For who you might be
But open your heart, close your eyes, and believe
You spirit won't be tamed
You have all you need.."
Jashua smiled as Sarabi rubbed her head against his before a yawn escaped causing the queen's mother to smile with love in her orange eyes.
"..Be strong, be brave
Let courage lead the way
Stand tall and know who you are (know who you are)
Wild heart, wild soul
Roam free to the unknown
And know that you have everything you need
To be fearless
Wild heart, wild soul
Roam free to the unknown
And know that you have everything you need
To be fearless
Fearless"
Sarabi smiled at the asleep cub before running her tongue over Jashua's head, messing up the black tuff that falls in between the prince's eyes.
"Goodnight my brave little prince."
After looking outside, the dark beige lioness laid her head down close to Jashua and closed her eyes.
