Author's Note: I saw the video trailer of Captain America: Brave New World and I don't know if I should watch the movie when it comes out. To me, Chris Evans will always be the real Captain America.
I don't own Avengers or its characters. I only own Riley Stark and other OCs that appear in the story.
Take on the World
Chapter 26: Pepperony's Wedding
(2015)
The news of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts' engagement spread like wild fire and it was not long until the magical day finally arrived.
For the wedding, everyone they had invited traveled to Malibu.
Pepper had chosen Malibu's Rocky Oaks as the venue.
She decided that since Malibu was an important place for him and his only daughter, she wanted to marry him there too.
Weddings were huge affairs.
Well, for the wedding of an Avenger, it was even bigger.
It was like a royal wedding as news helicopters flew overhead to film it as it was an outdoor venue.
The whole world was intrigued by an Avenger wedding.
Rhodey stood on the side of the altar on Tony's side while Steve and Natasha were on the right side which was where Pepper was going to stand.
Tony wore a black tuxedo, white shirt with a black bow tie and brown shoes.
Everyone was in their places.
Now all they had to do was wait for the bride.
Riley couldn't help but grin in pure delight as she began walking down the aisle.
The fourteen year old girl wore a soft pink dress with thin shoulder straps and fabric in the middle of the chest. Around the navel was a pink ribbon tied into a long tailed bow on the right hip while a string of pearls hangs from the sweetheart neckline. On her feet were white low heeled shoes. Her chestnut brown hair was tied back in a braid. Another braid was tied closer to the front, coming down to the middle of the top of the ear. Several curly strands fall along the side of the face and head.
On her hands was a small bouquet decorated with pink roses and daisy flowers.
This was it.
This was the biggest moment she had been waiting and was finally coming true.
Her father and mother figure were finally getting married.
Riley went to stand next to Rhodey before everyone turned around to see Pepper coming forward while being escorted by Happy.
Pepper wore a white sleeveless sparkly wedding dress. Her strawberry blonde hair was styled in an elegant ponytail with a headband laced with little white daisies. On her hands was a bouquet laced with red roses and orchids.
Tony felt like his breath had utterly vanished.
Pepper always been able to make him breathless, but he didn't think he was ever going to breathe again after today.
She was like a dream.
Her dress sparkled like diamonds and her smile shined even brighter.
He'd never seen her so happy and this moment seared itself into his memory.
Pepper finally reached him and he reached his hand out to her.
She grabbed it as she stepped up onto the altar beside him.
Tony stared at in awe.
"Wow."Tony whispered.
Riley giggled lightly a bit as everyone sat down and the officiant began to speak.
"Thank you all for coming today to share in this wonderful occasion."the officiant declared."Today we are here together to unite Anthony Edward Stark and Virginia 'Pepper' Potts in marriage."
The officiant looked at Tony.
"Do you, Anthony Edward Stark, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to live together in matrimony, to love her, comfort her, honour and keep her, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?"the officiant asked.
"Like it'd be anything else but, yes, I do."Tony answered.
The officiant then glanced at Pepper.
"Do you, Virginia 'Pepper' Potts, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, to live together in matrimony, to love him, comfort him, honour and keep him, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?"the officiant questioned.
Pepper smiled as she stared at Tony while holding his hands.
"Always."Pepper responded."Yes, I do."
Riley became both teary-eyed in joy and had to wipe a tear away.
Rhodey looked at the young brunette in alarm.
"Are you crying, Riley?"Rhodey whispered.
"No, Uncle Rhodey."Riley said defensively with a weak smile."It's just liquid pride. It's something completely different."
Rhodey simply handed Riley a tissue, making her wipe away her tears with her free hand.
"Anthony Edward Stark and Virginia 'Pepper' Potts have chosen rings to exchange with each other as a symbol of their unending love."the officiant exclaimed."As they exchange rings, they'll speak their own vows..."
The officiant held out the two gold rings and Pepper grabbed the gold band she'd be giving to Tony.
Pepper looked at him with anxiety as she said her vows.
"Well, first of all, I just need to say I love you because I didn't get to say it today..."Pepper started.
This caused everyone to chuckle.
The bride could breath easily now and she smiled as she slid the ring on his finger.
"Tony Stark, I promise to love you and despite all your possible screwups, I'll love you anyways."Pepper vowed kindly."I'll love you maybe a little insanely because there won't be a piece of me that doesn't love you. I promise to love you forever and if there's an after life in death, I'll love you then too."
Tony then grabbed the ring he would give Pepper with a heart-shaped blue sapphire on it.
He slid it on her finger slowly before he said his vows.
"You have given me impossible demands like...evading death."Tony declared a bit jokingly and everyone laughed in the background."But this I can do. I vow to love you truly, madly, deeply. I'll love you forever with my whole heart. You'll have me, honey. I'm always going to be yours and as you said, if I can love you then, I'll love you in the after life too."
The two of them stared at each other, lost in their own little world.
"By the authority vested in me by the State of California, I now pronounce you husband and wife."the officiant admitted."You may now kiss the bride."
Pepper practically leaped with joy and pressed her lips to Tony's as everyone clapped and cheered in the background.
They were now husband and wife.
She was now Pepper Stark.
A feeling of indescribable joy grew inside Riley's face as she stared at her father and her new mother.
She was happy that they were officially together.
Though Pepper won't replace her birth mother, the Stark heiress knew her new mother loved her like she was her own daughter and loved her father with all her heart.
The newly weds were now mingling as the reception was held at the same venue.
Thor chuckled as he tapped Tony's shoulder.
"Stark, I am very happy for you."Thor congratulated.
"Thanks, Pointbreak."Tony replied.
"I have to say this place is gorgeous."Jane commented, her voice mixed with a hint of admiration.
"It's very pretty."Pepper agreed before looking at Thor."And I believe I can say I'm happy for you, too, Thor."
"Thank you, Mrs Stark."Thor thanked before Jane tugged on his arm, making him look at her."Well, I will leave you be. Jane said something that wedding bliss is not to be disturbed for too long so I will do that."
Pepper giggled as she turned to Tony and saw him staring at her.
"What?"Pepper said.
"You're glowing."Tony stated smugly."You should be this happy more often."
"Well, now I will be."Pepper chuckled.
Pepper looped her arms around Tony's neck before the two of them shared a kiss with each other.
Riley smiled as she made her way to where her father and new mother.
"Hi."Riley greeted.
"Rye-Rye."Tony sneered as he embraced his daughter."Thanks by the way."
Riley raised an eyebrow at her father.
"For what, dad?"Riley questioned.
"I don't think all this would be possible without you."Tony declared.
A small chuckle escaped from Riley's mouth.
"Well, I had help from my new mother after all."Riley remarked kindly."She is one of a kind and I love her as much as you do."
Pepper smiled emotionally as she and Riley shared a hug with each other.
Soon it was now time for the first dance.
Pepper was dancing with Tony to the song he picked; she let him pick it.
It was 'Always' by Atlantic Starr.
Tony twirled Pepper which made her smile grow before he twirled her back in.
"You want to stay in a moment with me forever?"Pepper asked.
"I'll stay in this one right now."Tony declared with a smirk as he leaned his forehead against Pepper's."Forever and ever."
For them, they were in the best moment of their lives.
It started when they were first struck by Cupid and it would never end.
It was to go on forever and ever.
As for the song playing in the background?
It conveyed the message of unwavering loyalty, eternal commitment and the promise to stand by each other through thick and thin.
Many couples were now dancing to the lovely romantic song.
Natasha looked at Steve as she went over to him.
"You want to dance, Steve?"Natasha asked.
A nervous smile appeared on Steve's face.
"I haven't danced in seventy years."Steve informed."I'll probably step on your feet."
Natasha smirked. "I'll take my chances."
Steve sighed and downed his glass of grapefruit juice before standing up and holding out his hand for her with a small smile.
"My lady, can I have this dance?"Steve asked.
"Why yes, you can."Natasha replied.
Natasha batted her eyes with a teasing smile as she took Steve's hand and he took her to the dance floor.
Riley grinned lightly as she used her iPhone to record the dance of her father and new mother on their wedding day.
Not only that.
The Stark heiress was also recording the other couples dancing including Bruce with Betty, Thor with Jane and Natasha with Steve.
This was a happy beginning for all of them.
Riley then finished recording and placed her iPhone on her little purse bag before going to look at the view of Malibu's Rocky Oaks, admiring the beautiful mountains.
The scenery gave her sense of peace and security.
However, a part of her couldn't help but wonder if things were always going to be like this.
Sure, the Avengers defeated Loki.
But what other threats were out there that the Earth's Mightiest Heroes were going to face someday?
Though, the big question was.
Was she herself going be part of the Avengers as well?
"Your mother would be so proud of you."
Riley snapped out of her thoughts when she noticed Tony going next to her.
"And she'd be happy for you."Riley declared with a smile, turning around to look at the party."We're never gonna forget her, right?"
Tony let out a small chuckle.
"How could I?"Tony asked."Whenever I look at you, I actually see her."
Riley gave Tony a hug, feeling touched by his words.
"All right, all the single ladies, fall in!"Pepper's voice rang out.
A smug smile appeared on Riley's face.
"Did you know, dad, there's a wedding tradition that says whoever catches the bouquet is supposed to be the one that gets married next?"Riley questioned with an innocent tone."So if I end up catching the bouquet-"
Tony frowned at Riley's respond.
"Not happening on my watch, Rye-Rye."Tony declared."You're too young to think of things like that."
"Then you'll be happy to know my goal is to be married by the age of 25!"Riley declared proudly.
Riley laughed lightly as she headed back to the party, making Tony chase after her.
"What?! Hey! Hey! Come on!"Tony complained while everyone else laughed in the background."Rye-Rye! That is not funny!"
