Title: My Psycho Husband
Chapter 1: Bound by Vows
Hilary sat motionless on the grand bed, her fingers clutching the edge of her bridal veil. The luxurious silk of her wedding gown felt suffocating, though not as much as the weight of her new reality. She was married. Married to Kai Hiwatari—a man she barely knew.
It had all happened so fast. One moment, she was a carefree young woman focused on her future; the next, she was thrown into an arranged marriage orchestrated by their families. Kai had been quiet throughout the entire process, barely speaking to her, never showing a flicker of emotion. She had tried to convince herself that he was just reserved. Now, in the eerie silence of their honeymoon suite, she wasn't so sure.
The sound of the door creaking open made her tense. Kai stepped inside, his sharp crimson eyes locking onto hers like a predator observing its prey. The air in the room grew thick, and Hilary felt her breath hitch as he slowly approached. His expression was unreadable, but there was something unsettling about the way he moved—deliberate, calculated.
"You haven't changed," he noted, his voice deep and calm. He loosened the buttons of his black dress shirt, his gaze never wavering.
Hilary forced a small smile, though her heart pounded against her ribcage. "I—I guess I'm just tired."
Kai tilted his head, as if analyzing her. Then, without warning, he reached out, running his fingers over the delicate lace of her sleeve. His touch was light, almost gentle, yet it sent a cold shiver down her spine.
"You're scared of me." His statement wasn't a question.
Hilary swallowed hard. "I just don't know you."
A smirk ghosted over his lips. "You will."
The room felt smaller. The space between them, nonexistent. Hilary had heard stories of love growing in arranged marriages, of two strangers finding comfort in one another. But as she stared into Kai's unreadable eyes, she wondered if she had been bound to something far more dangerous.
Her husband wasn't just cold. He wasn't just distant.
He was something else entirely.
The silence stretched between them, thick and unbreakable. Hilary shifted uncomfortably, feeling like a deer trapped in a hunter's sights. She had spent the entire wedding day surrounded by people—family, friends, and strangers who had congratulated her on a union she had no control over. But now, alone in this dimly lit suite with her new husband, she realized how utterly isolated she truly was.
Kai finally moved, stepping closer. Hilary instinctively flinched, and for a fleeting moment, something unreadable flickered in his crimson eyes. Amusement? Annoyance? She couldn't tell. But he noticed. Of course, he did.
"You think I'm going to hurt you?" he murmured, his voice laced with something she couldn't quite place.
Hilary exhaled shakily. "I don't know what to think."
Kai let out a soft chuckle, dark and almost mocking. "Smart answer." He turned away, walking towards the window. His posture was relaxed, but something about the way his fingers tapped against the glass unsettled her. "You should sleep. We have a long day tomorrow."
Hilary hesitated, watching him carefully. "Tomorrow?"
"You'll be moving into my house," he stated matter-of-factly. "Your life as you knew it is over."
A chill ran down her spine at his choice of words. "What do you mean?"
Kai turned his head slightly, just enough for her to see his smirk. "You're my wife now, Hilary. That means you belong to me."
Her breath caught in her throat. She wanted to argue, to tell him she was still her own person, but something in his tone warned her against it. Instead, she clenched her fists and looked away, trying to steady her nerves.
The night stretched on in suffocating silence. Kai didn't say another word as he settled into the couch on the other side of the room, leaving her alone in the massive bed. But even as she lay beneath the covers, her eyes staring at the ceiling, she knew sleep wouldn't come easily.
She had married a stranger.
A man who wasn't just unreadable—he was dangerous.
And there was no way out now.
