Chapter time!

Ugh, I thought writing it would be easy, and while it wasn't exactly difficult, I somehow got sick for the entire week so I had to work through that.

Anyway, let's get into it.

Topic: How do you find time to play?

Hello there, everyone.
I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to this game mode(I was introduced to it by my son just recently), and I found myself quite a problem to deal with when it comes to playing it. I like the game, I really do. However, because of my job, I find it difficult to find the time to actually play it.
I usually have very little free time during the day and I often have to pause any game I play to deal with more pressing issues. Since the game mode is fully online, and there is no way to pause the game, I tend to find myself in situations where I either can't play the game at all, or have to abandon the match mid game.
Does anyone of you have some ideas that could help me with this issue?

Getting back to the actually topic of the thread. I also find myself with quite a busy schedule in my daily life, a well—I might not have a job yet but I do have a lot of responsibilities I have to attend to due to who I am—and I found that the problem isn't really something you should concern yourself with. Simply, play when you can, and leave any matches you have to, that's what I do.
Sure, I might not be the greatest player, yet, but I certainly feel like I'm getting better. Furthermore, the game is enjoyable even if I do have abandon some matches for my training.

Thank you for the comment, HappyNEWby.
Unfortunately, assurances that my situation isn't impossible to deal with wasn't exactly what I was looking for here.
Thanks for the effort, though.

Why not try doing your work ahead of the deadline?
If your work is based on contracts, or you have your own business, you only need to finish them before the end of the deadline right?
It can't be that difficult to deal with that a little bit earleir.

The day of the tournament has arrived!

Weiss quite literally had to physically stop herself from vibrating because of all the excitement she was feeling throughout the entire day. She was that excited about watching the tournament.

A smile worked its way onto her face as she cheerfully walked through the corridors of her mansion.

The plan Whitley and her had come up with worked perfectly.

Sure, she might not have received any confirmation that she had basically a free day right now. However, the teacher themselves had told her brother and her that they were so ahead of the planned lesson plan that they already knew everything they would be taught a week in advance.

It was perfect!

There was no way anyone would force her to attend lessons when there was nothing to learn from them; even her family wasn't so uncaring and inefficient to do something like that to her.

She started quietly humming a melody to herself as she began to think of a way to introduce her brother to her friend.

As far as she was concerned, it was the most difficult obstacle ahead of her. Whitley might be quite a nice individual, but the boy wasn't really that interesting in anything, and she worried he might find conversing with her friends to be a bit difficult.

One needed to have a lot of different topics they were interested in to hold an interesting conversation, after all.

Unfortunately, her brother didn't really do anything aside from studying.

A quiet sigh escaped her.

She really needed to make good on her inner promise to help Whitley find some hobbies.

Her brother would be hopeless without her.

If she were to guess, the younger boy was probably busy studying right now, despite the fact that they had an entirely free day, as far as they were concerned. She would probably have to force the boy away from the books if she wanted him to watch the tournament with her.

There were still about two hours until the tournament started, though. In the end, she might end up getting Whitley to spend some time with her a bit earlier, if only to have some company while she was waiting for Jaune.

The chance to spend some time with her younger brother wouldn't be so terrible, anyway.

"Here you are, Miss Schnee!"

Weiss shook a little at the sudden call.

"Yes?" She asked while turning around to meet the person who had just called out to her.

To her surprise, it was her history teacher.

That was weird; she wasn't supposed to have any history lessons today.

Was this the case of some mistake in her teacher's schedule? If it was something like that, then she could easily tell the teacher that they didn't have lessons together right now and send them home.

"Why aren't you on our lesson, Miss Schnee?" The teacher asked with a slightly annoyed expression on her face. "I've been waiting for you for half an hour already. Are you not aware that you have a lesson with me right now?"

"What?" Weiss couldn't help but ask.

The teacher looked at her with a frown on her face.

"Your lesson, young lady." The teacher said. "You did get the updated schedule your father created for you, didn't you? We are supposed to have lessons together for the next month instead of your business classes. I'm sure you won't mind working with me a little bit more."

Weiss could only gape at the new information she was given.

That was so unfair!

"I didn't know about that!" She protested.

Why did she have any lessons to attend to right now? The sole reason her brother and she had been studying ahead so hard the last month was to ensure they wouldn't have any lessons today.

Was all the effort she had put into studying for nothing?

She refused to believe it.

The teacher only sighed at her expression.

"I see that you didn't get the new schedule then." The teacher murmured to themselves before looking directly at Weiss and speaking up. "The fact that you went ahead with your studies had been reported to your father. Your father was very proud of you; because of that, he also decided to change your schedule. Speaking of which, you will find that your schedule has been expanded slightly to let you work on more subjects at the same time."

Weiss could only stand there frozen as she processed all the information.

"Let's get back into our classroom, alright?" The teacher said.

Weiss opened her mouth for a moment as she tried to formulate a response.

"I-Yes, let's do that." She said.

The teacher only smiled at her before turning around and starting to head in the direction of their classroom.

Weiss tightened her fists when the teacher wasn't looking.

There was no way it could end like that.

She was supposed to be spending the day cheering on Chammy in the tournament. It was a promise she made to both her friends, and she wasn't going to break it. She wasn't the type of person to do things like that.

With clear reluctance, Weiss began to follow her teacher.

As far as she was aware, it was impossible for her to skip the history lesson now. It didn't mean that she was doomed to waste the entire day on lessons, however. She would surely think of a way to skip the next lessons.

Regardless of what happened, she wasn't going to miss the tournament.

That was for certain.

(...)

The history lesson ended up being one of the most boring and tiring lessons Weiss ever had the displeasure of living through.

It might have been simply because she desperately didn't want to attend it, but it didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. In the end, she still left the classroom exhausted and angry at the teacher for making her attend it.

She had no idea how she managed to last through it.

The fact that she only had to last through half the lesson was barely even on her mind.

No matter what, the situation was still unfair, in her opinion.

Weiss quickly took a look at her Scroll.

A tired groan escaped her.

The next lesson would begin in about fifteen minutes.

She wasn't going to attend it.

If she would have to play Truant to accomplish that, then she would still do it. Whatever the case, she wasn't going to be forced to attend one another lesson today, not when she was already this tired.

Weiss bit back a sigh.

It would be a good idea to quickly find Whitley to help her, as well.

The younger boy was probably as devastated about the whole situation as she was.

Without wasting any time, she turned towards one of the corridors in her mansion and started making her way down through it.

There was no way for her to know what exact lesson her brother was forced to endure right now. The only thing she knew for certain was that the boy most likely had to attend some lessons today, just like her.

That lack of knowledge didn't mean she couldn't make assumptions, however.

The lessons her brother was attending had to be different than hers; otherwise, they would have had them together already. On top of that, those lessons were probably lessons she used to have a year or two ago herself.

With that in mind, it wasn't too difficult for her to figure out what type of lessons Whitley was most likely to have.

Of course, just because she had an idea what sort of lesson the boy might be attending didn't mean that she knew exactly where he was right now.

It did mean, however, that she now knew where to look for her younger brother.

Now she only needed to find him.

As she was searching for her brother, Weiss moved through the mansion at a brisk pace.

She was passing halls and sprawling corridors in matters of seconds, and wherever she went, she was followed by the gazes of all the people working around the mansion.

The attention she was gathering from all the servants working in her house bothered her little, however. Those people were most likely thinking that she was hurrying for her next lesson, and she wasn't going to correct their incorrect assumption.

In the end, the only thing that mattered right now to her was finding her younger brother.

They would deal with all the attention she gathered after she found him.

Although considering how quickly everyone tended to get back to their jobs around here—regardless of what happened around them—they might not even have to deal with things like that by the time she met up with Whitley.

There were times she truly had to be thankful for the general apathy everyone seemed to have around her house when it came to things unrelated to their jobs.

It made doing so many things that her father wouldn't really approve of just that tiny bit easier.

Obviously, that wouldn't have been an issue she had to deal with if her father was actually a decent parent in the first place, but that was besides the point.

Weiss tightened her fists slightly as she began to think about her family.

Thankfully, before she could spiral into all the negative thoughts she had about her parents, she finally managed to find her younger brother, who appeared to be searching the mansion in the same way she was.

A tiny smile formed on her face as she relaxed a little at the sight of her brother.

Whitley was clearly tired and upset. It had been a long time since the last time she had seen her brother look like that, especially on a day when there weren't any tests or social events they were forced to attend.

Weiss stopped in place.

It looked like she wasn't the only one who was dismayed about the situation.

"Hello, Whitley." Weiss said. "It appears that you've finished your first lesson for today as well. Was it at least easier to deal with than the usual business lesson we would have if it wasn't for our plan?"

Whitely sighed.

"It was terrible." The boy said.

Weiss nodded her head.

"Yeah, I assumed so." She said. "It was the same for me; father decided to replace my economy and business lessons with history classes. You have no idea how tiring those could be if you don't expect them."

Whitley looked away from her for a moment.

"I'm sorry." He said.

Weiss raised her eyebrow in slight confusion.

"What are you sorry for?" She asked.

Whitley grumbled a little.

"I'm apologising for making a plan that didn't work, okay?" The boy said. "That was my fault; I know it. I thought my plan would work perfectly. Unfortunately, it seems that I was completely wrong. I understand why you would be angry at me."

Weiss couldn't help but widen her eyes in response to her brother's words.

In all honesty, she didn't even think to blame her brother for the failure of their plan. In her mind, she had been as responsible for their plan failing as Whitley was. After all, if she really thought things through and realised that the plan wouldn't work, she could have stopped it at any point.

There were no reasons her brother should blame himself for it.

"I'm not angry at you, little brother." She waved her hand to dismiss her brother's worries.

Whitley looked at her in surprise.

"But-Wha-?" The boy struggled for words.

Weiss chuckled a little.

"Don't worry about it, Whitley." She assured her brother once again before quickly walking up to him and grabbing him by the hand. "Now let's find a way to skip the next lessons right now. We've got no time!"

"W-What?! W-Wait a moment, give me a time to breathe!" Whitley called out as he began to be dragged around.

Weiss couldn't help but smirk to herself in response to her brother's reaction.

"There's no time, brother! We have only about five minutes until our next lessons start, and there's no way I'm going to attend them. We have to think of a way to skip them, and we have to do it quick!" She said.

Whitley groaned in agitation.

"Do you even have a general idea how we are going to accomplish that?" The boy asked.

"I do not!" Weiss admitted.

Whitley groaned once again.

"Okay, I'll help you with that." The boy relented.

A smile on Weiss's face widened.

"That's great!" She said. "Do you have any plans we could implement to get ourselves out of the lessons? I have nothing—as you already know—so even the most basic ideas would be great."

A loud huff escaped Whitley.

"I suppose we could hide in one of the rooms in our mansion?" The boy asked more than stated. "There are dozens of chambers around here that are barely used at all. I'm positive we could find one or two that would work as a perfect hiding place for today."

Weiss hummed in thought.

"We would need to move my computer there beforehand." She said.

"I can help with that; it would be a decent way for me to make up for that failure of a plan I came up with." Whitley said dejectedly with a sigh before quickly adding right after. "Of course, in the worst-case scenario, we can simply connect to your friends with our Scrolls instead. It's not like we will need a whole computer to do that."

A frown appeared on Weiss's face as she slowed down a little.

It looked like her brother was still blaming himself for their unsuccessful plan. The boy had really too high expectations when it came to himself. She wanted to say that she had no idea what caused that; however, it wouldn't be true.

She knew exactly who was responsible for that.

It was their father, Jacques Schnee.

A loud sigh escaped her.

"You don't have to make up for anything, Whitley." She said. "I told you I'm not angry at you for that, and I'm not. I only want to watch the ATG tournament with my friends and introduce you to them. Don't be too hard on yourself for something that wasn't really your fault, alright?"

Whitley slowly nodded his head, although it was clear that he wasn't truly convinced by her words.

"Alright."

Weiss bit back a sigh and nodded her head.

She would have to deal with that later; maybe at the same time she was going to be helping him find a hobby for himself.

In the end, with a plan to skip the next lessons already somewhat prepared, they immediately began searching the mansion for rooms they could use to hide. The searching process would undoubtedly take a while, but they surely were going to find what they were looking for.

It was only a matter of time.

"Hey, Weiss?" Whitley suddenly started a conversation as they ran through some corridors.

"Yes?" Weiss asked while slowing down.

"Thank you." The boy paused for a second. "Thank you for not being angry at me. You have no idea how much it means to me. I'm sure no one else from our family would have been as understanding as you in the same situation."

A gentle smile made its way onto Weiss's face.

"You're welcome."

Their initial plan has failed completely, and they were forced to essentially scurry through their own home to find a place to hide from their teachers. Furthermore, Weiss could already picture the scolding they would receive from their father after that man learnt of them going against his schedule.

Despite all of that, they would manage.

She was going to support her younger brother, and she was sure that her brother was going to support her as well.

The smile on Weiss's face widened as she thought about the fact that they were about to meet her friends again. If Whitely befriended Jaune and Chammy, they might not have to struggle through their family life alone, either.

She simply couldn't wait for the tournament.

(...)

It wasn't easy to get access to a computer in the Arc household.

There were only two different computers for the whole family, and one of them was practically reserved for the mother of the family. It wouldn't have been an issue for most normal families in the Vale kingdom; however, the Arc family wasn't quite ordinary when it came to certain aspects.

To put it simply, the Arc family was simply massive.

At the moment, there were ten people living in the same house, and all of them had to share all the appliances. There were hardly any objects that could be considered fully private in the family, and most of them belonged to the family parents.

It meant that a single computer that was allowed to be used by anyone had to essentially be shared between nine different people.

Usually it meant that if one wanted to access the computer for a longer period of time, they needed to stick to a rather strict schedule they made for using the item. Alternatively, they were forced to negotiate with the other potential users of the computer to allow them to use their time on the computer instead.

In a family as large as theirs, it often meant that one was simply forced to do the chores of everyone else if they wanted to use the computer some more.

It wasn't exactly the most pleasant way to earn the computer hours.

It was the most reliable, though.

Jaune groaned loudly as he finished cleaning up the room of one of his sisters.

There were some chores he simply hated doing, and one of them was cleaning the rooms of his sisters. He didn't mind cleaning as an activity on its own—the usual chores of cleaning the kitchen or the bathroom hardly bothered him—but when he was forced to clean places he wasn't going to even use, it started to become annoying.

Why did he need to clean after his sisters?!

They were supposed to clean their rooms on their own, and cleaning their rooms didn't even count as one of the chores they were often given by their parents!

Jaune huffed tiredly.

Thankfully, cleaning that single room had been the very last task he had to finish before he could finally meet with Weiss on their voice chat app and cheer for Ilya to win the tournament.

There would have been more chores he would normally have to do in order to ensure a whole day for himself. However, Noir and Blanc decided they wanted to watch the tournament with him as well.

He didn't see a problem with that.

Weiss and Ilya already knew his sisters from the time they were still testing the ATG together, and as far as he was aware, they all got along pretty well.

Neither of his sisters realised just who exactly Weiss was from what he could tell, but he didn't think it was a big deal. It wasn't like they disliked the girl when she was completely anonymous, and Weiss was comfortable around them as well.

They also knew who Ilya was, so they were most likely going to join them in cheering her on too.

With all his tasks done and the entire day of computer access guaranteed, Jaune nodded his head in satisfaction and quickly put away all the cleaning supplies. He then proceeded to head towards the computer room and see if he could join the voice call already.

There were still a couple good minutes until the tournament would begin, but that didn't mean he couldn't connect to the call a bit earlier.

He was willing to bet that Weiss was already on it anyway.

"Have you finished all your chores already, Jaune?" Noir called out as she noticed him speed walking through their house.

Jaune turned towards his sister with an excited smile on his face.

"I did!" He shouted. "I'm going to start the computer and enter the voice chat right now. Are you coming with me, Noir? The tournament's about to start soon, but we still have some time before it happens."

Noir nodded her head.

"I am coming with you." The girl said. "Just wait a second and let me get Blanc first, alright?"

Jaune gave her sister a thumbs up.

"You got it, Noir." He said.

In the end, they didn't need to either look or wait for their sister at all. The girl was already at the computer, and she was going over all the different threads on the ATGMatches forum, awaiting their arrival.

It looked like she had been doing it for a while already, as well.

Jaune shook his head with a laugh.

It wasn't that surprising, really.

While the tournament was certainly an important event for him and his friends, it was an even bigger deal for his sisters. Those two were the ones who actually made the game mode in the first place, after all.

"I see that you two are finally here." Blanc remarked as she noticed them enter the room. "It's time to join the voice call, isn't it? I haven't opened the app yet, but I'm pretty sure that Snow should be online already."

Having said that, Blanc proceeded to stand up and make way for them.

Jaune nodded his head as he sat down in front of the computer.

Immediately he opened the voice chat app, logged onto it, and clicked on the channels his friends and him used to talk.

When he did that, however, he noticed that there were two people in the voice chat already. Neither of them was Chammy, either.

That was unusual.

Did Weiss invite someone else to watch the tournament with them?

He didn't even know Weiss had other friends than Ilya and him.

With a slight shrug, he quickly clicked on the channel and joined the call. It wasn't like he could really complain about anything like that considering that he was bringing two of his sisters to the call as well.

"Hello, Knight!" Weiss said the moment he entered the call.

"Good morning." A voice of a young boy called out from the voice chat as well.

Jaune blinked at the new voice.

Okay, it wasn't anyone he knew.

A smile formed on his face.

It seemed that he was going to meet someone new today.

"Hey there, everyone." Noir cut into the conversation before he could say anything. "We didn't expect to hear someone new today. Are you here to cheer on Chammy to win the tournament as well?"

Jaune laughed quietly to himself at how eager his sisters were to meet a new person.

Noir and Blanc might have been among the more serious of his sisters, but they still were incredibly curious about new people. It certainly helped them have more gossip material for talks with the other sisters.

"That," The young boy's paused for a second. "wasn't exactly the voice I expected a person with a nickname Knight to have."

Weiss groaned slightly, and for some reason the sound echoed through both hers and the young boy's voice channels.

"It's because it wasn't Knight." The girl said. "It was Noir, one of his sisters; she was the one who made the game mode we will be watching being played right now, actually. I assume Blanc's here, as well."

"Yeah, she is here too." Jaune said before any of his sisters could react. "By the way, your voice echoes and sounds a little different. Are you two connecting from the same room or something?"

Weiss chuckled a little abashedly.

"We are connecting through our Scrolls, and yes, we are next to each other right now. It was the easiest way we could connect to you guys." The girl said, before pausing for a moment and remembering about something. "The new addition to the call is my brother; he doesn't really have a nickname yet."

Jaune nodded with a smile.

The fact that Weiss had a younger brother was no secret to him; aside from the fact that her family was famous, she also often talked about her older and younger siblings in their usual conversations.

He didn't really expect to meet one of them right now, though.

"It's nice to meet you, Snow's brother." Blanc said with a pleasant tone to welcome a new person.

Weiss's brother sighed.

"Please, just call me Whitley." The boy, Whitely, said with an exasperated tone. "I don't think I need a special nickname to hide who I am like my sister does. My name will work just well enough."

Jaune hummed in thought.

The boy had no reason to hide anything from them, considering that he was neither as famous as Weiss nor was Ilya here, who might have something against his family. Besides, it wasn't like Whitley was that uncommon name in Atlas, anyway.

Well, he supposed he could return the courtesy then.

"In that case, call me Jaune." He said. "There's no need for you to use my nickname if you don't have a nickname yourself."

"Thank you." Whitely said.

"You can use our names, as well." Noir chimed in. "We won't mind at all. It's not like we use any easily pronounceable nicknames for the internet, either. Unless, of course, you won't mind saying WhiteRainbowPart or BlackRainbowPart every time you talk to us."

Weiss chuckled.

"I think we will stick to your names, girls." She said.

"Your loss." Noir said.

Blanc sighed.

"Let's open the stream and start watching the tournament, okay?" The older girl said. "The tournament is yet to begin, but I'm pretty sure the commentators are doing the introduction already."

"Alright." Weiss said.

Jaune nodded, and not a moment later he began searching for the website to watch the tournament on. It didn't take him long, because the website that hosted the stream of the tournament was already opened in a separate tab, and he only needed to click on the correct stream there.

It seemed that his sister was quite excited about the tournament.

In all honesty, he was quite excited to watch it as well.

Although he still wasn't entirely convinced about Ilya attending the tournament without them, he still wanted to see how she would do; more importantly, however, he wanted her to win the whole thing.

She was representing their team, after all.

The stream opened, and the voices of commentators entered their ears.

A smile formed on Jaune's face.

The tournament was about to begin, and he couldn't wait to see it.

And cut!

Next chapter we have the tournament, and maybe some reactions to that.

I hope you enjoyed it, see ya!
