King Kong 2005 Part 1
First part of this, we are in the city of Vale and we meet some of the cast which would be Willow Schnee.
Disclaimers: I own nothing
We are in Vale in central park during the day, we see a scrawny Monkey scratches. Then we angle on defeated, listless Animals, in the bleak environs of a dilapidated Zoo.
"This is Vale", Hakaze said to the audiences.
"My, I like the zoo most of the times", Ruby said remembering the fun she had before she was even a Huntress.
"Me too Ruby", Yang also the same thing as well.
"In the zoo there are lots of animals", Ozpin commented.
"Plus there are zoos in every Kingdom in Remnant", James said that every Kingdom has one.
It is Central Park Zoo in depression era Vale. The Park itself is like a Garbage Dump, dotted with squalid shanty towns. Against these bleak images, the sound of a bright, brassy song which is called "I'm Sitting on Top of the World". The sky line of Vale rises in the background, a grim steaming jungle on this cold Fall day.
"Depression Era huh? The Galactic Republic are here right?" Blake ask Hakaze.
"Yeah Blake, but due to the battles cause by the CIS, they can rarely get this depression under control at the moment", Hakaze explains what are the Galactic Republic doing at the moment.
Back on the streets, song continues over the crowded streets of Vale ... beneath the bustle is a sense of despair. Long soup lines snake along the streets. The hungry search through rubbish bins for food. Skyscrapers rise steadily upwards as more people are evicted from their homes. Homeless sleep amid steaming vents and garbage strewn gutters.
"I guest this is what the depression era does to people while the Republic can barely do anything about it while they have Second Clone Wars to deal with it", Emerald commented because this was her life before she met Cinder.
"I believe you been through this life before Emerald", Hakaze said to her.
"That was before I met Cinder and join Salem's cause."
Next we go to the Vaudeville Theater during the night and the song continues over. Manny, an old-time Vaudevillian, hurriedly fixes a large doopy moustache on to a young woman's top lip ... this is Willow Schnee. Weird and wonderful snatches of Vaudeville acts follow ...singers, jugglers, boxing ladies.
"So our mother is an actress", Weiss commented, she has no mind but her playing a man is bit weirding her out.
"And she is willing to play a male", Winter commented although she does like her moves.
"Don't even think about it!" Hakaze said to Jacque who was object on the idea on Willow being an actress.
"Especially you Whitley", Hakaze said making Whitley back off.
"I don't mind", Nicholas Schnee doesn't mind if his only daughter would want to be an actress.
"Good to know Grandfather", Weiss commented with a smile.
Back at the Vale streets during the day the color and music, contrast with the soup lines and slumped shoulders of the real world. Next back at the Vaudeville Theatre during the night, we angle on Willow on stage dressed as an elegant gent, she launches into 'I'm Just Wild About Harry' with Harry, a larger than life performer dressed in a frilly dress, brassy red wig and falsies. Manny's character joins in ... sneezing loudly and causing Willow to take a sudden prat fall. And so the routine builds ... Willow and Harry singing and dancing ... Manny sneezing ... Willow falling. The audiences look on with bored expressions on their faces. All except one man at the back, who is laughing hysterically. Close on Willow throwing everything into her act ... sweat rolls down her face ... she tries not to get distracted by the laughing wheezing man. Widening the scene shows a smattering of applause from the tiny audiences of 40 people in a theatre designed for 500.
"Despite the show was good, but small audiences seems to be bored and the only one who's enjoying it looks to somewhat familiar", Weiss commented.
"Because they are in the depression era at the moment, not even entertainment from this will help", Hakaze explains what's up here.
"You think not everything can help the people get pass the depression era?" Ozpin asked.
"Not a lot of things can help", Hakaze answered.
Next we are at the dressing room during the night, Manny in the noisy, crowed dressing room, which is full of Vaudeville performers in various stages of undress. Manny fires off a loud comical sneeze. He looks around at the others.
"That's a funny one! Isn't that funnier?" Manny ask his fellow performers.
"It's hysterical, Manny. As long as we're laughing we won't be crying over the box office. Talk about depressing." Harry said to him.
Next we angle on Willow sitting down at a mirror, starting to take off her vest ... a book entitled "ISOLATION" by Jaune Arc lies half open on the counter top nearby...
"Twenty girls in feather boas prancing around like circus ponies! That's depressing!" Willow commented after reading it.
"Jaune is there something in your mind?" Pyrrha ask him seeing his right hand on his chin.
"I'm a writer here?"
"Well none of us who supports you mind", Pyrrha said nobody minds if he becomes a real writer.
"But there is something else in your mind is there Jaune?" Yang said knowing there is something else he is thinking.
"I have something to say about that, Willow and Jaune are both the protagonists of this movie", Hakaze answered.
"Wait, you don't mean?!" Weiss said with a blush in her face along with Winter while Whitley is having a freakout face and Nicholas don't seem to mind while Jacque keeps his mouth shut due to Hakaze's glare.
"Yeah, but right now let's not talk about that at the moment", Hakaze says they stay out of that subject at the moment, but many know what Willow and Jaune would ended up becoming later on as the film progresses.
Angle on Maude, a blowsy singer, lighting up a cigarette.
"I love a good chorus line!" He said fondly as we close on Willow brushing her hair. Taps, a young tap dancer, leans across and picks up the book.
"What's this?"
"It's a play." Willow answered as Manny joins in.
"Who wrote it, Willow?"
"Some guy name Arc. From the Federal Theatre" Taps answered after reading the jacket of book.
"Don't knock it, honey at least they get an audience." Maude said to them.
"It'll pick up ... Ain't that right, Manny?" Willow ask but suddenly the dressing room goes suddenly quiet ... Manny looks away refusing to meet Willow's eye.
"It always does." Willow said trailing off.
"Oh, I writes plays", Jaune said after seeing that book more carefully.
"Must be nice", Pyrrha complimented.
"Thanks Pyrrha."
At the dressing room alleyway during the night, Manny and Willow emerge from the stage door, into an alleyway. Night and winter are setting in ... Manny splutters out another loud sneeze.
"Would he just stop that already!" Mercury commented getting annoyed by all that sneezing.
"Maybe he just wants to practice", Emerald said to him.
"The trick is to start the build right at the back of your throat..." he said sneezing comically.
"Works well out through the nose too."
"Have you eaten today?" Willow ask Manny if he has eaten at all today.
"Oh, I'm not hungry. Don't worry about me." Manny answered sheepish.
"Hey - you're all I've got." Willow slips her arm through Manny's.
"Come on, take me to dinner." Willow ask him nicely.
"You think the kitchen'll still be open on Third?" Manny asked.
"Soup and biscuits perfect." Willow said and they are off.
"Willow and Manny are not lovers in this", Hakaze said to them.
"Just fellow performers", Winter commented.
Next day at the Vaideville theatre again, the door is chained closed. Workmen are up ladders, taking the hoardings down sign and putting a large sign up: THEATRE CLOSED TILL FURTHER NOTICE ...
"Don't tell me?" Sun commented and many in the audiences could tell what's going on here.
"Hey! Harry, what's going on?" Willow who just shows up and calls out to Harry next we angle on Willow ... rattling the heavy steel chains that are locked around the doors to the Vaudeville theatre.
"Hey, open up! We work here." Willow demanded and a workman up a ladder smirks down at her.
"Not anymore." The ladder man said as a motley collection of Vaudeville Performers cluster on the sidewalk near them an incongruous assortment of props and costumes litter the street just as Maude shows up calling at some workmen.
"It's all right for you! We haven't had a pay check in two weeks how we going to eat?" Maude said and wonders how they are going to eat now.
"They're not going to get away with this." Willow thinking they can prevent this from happening, next we close on Maude who looks bleakly at Willow.
"They just did." Maude said as Willow tries to gather up props, Manny's broom, her top-hat, Harry's parasol ...
"That's not going to help, they are already did it anyway", James commented that there is no way to prevent this anyway.
"Very true James." Glynda said and everyone knows many business shut down due to the depression era.
"Willow! It's no use." Willow turns to Manny who is standing quietly to one side.
"The show it's over, it's done. I'm done. I'm leaving, Willow ... I'm going back to Atlas. I'm sorry ..." Manny said as Willow stares at him in shock.
"I'm sorry, Willow. Ever since you were small people have been letting you down. But you gotta think of yourself now. You should try out for that part." Manny said and Willow looks at him warily.
"It's what you've always wanted. Oh, I know what you're thinking - every time you reach out for something you care about ... fate comes along and snatches it away." Manny continues and grabs Willow's hand.
"But not this time, Willow ... not this time." Manny said as Willow digests his words ... the loud rumble of an El train thunders overhead.
"Well I guess that means I will admit defeat", Willow said knowing that her counterpart will accept the theatre will close down for good.
"Willow still has home in Vale, but being jobless is going to be hard on her", Hakaze said.
"Very true, Willow won't be able to buy the stuffs she needs thanks her low on money", Summer commented.
"Not to worry, someone would help", Hakaze said but the scene is for later.
Elsewhere in Vale during the day, we go to another theatre where a producer name Weston strides out of his office, a copy of variety tucked under his arm.
"Oh, hello Mr. Weston?!" Willow said in faux nonchalance and Weston turns and sees Willow ... he quickens his step.
"Oh, Jeez ..." Weston said and Willow falls into step beside Weston as he hurries along the busy sidewalk.
"Look, Miss ... I told you already, call my office leave your resume with my secretary." Weston said as Willow doggedly follows Weston.
"Why would I want to do that when we can talk about it in person?" Willow commented as she manage to catch up with him.
"Because that's what a smart girl would do." Weston said to her.
"Smart girl, I was before I got married to that creep that landed me to get drunk", Willow said as which made Jacque glare at her but backs off due to Hakaze and Nicholas.
"You know Willow, we get back you can just dump Jacque Gele and look for a better man", Nicholas said to her.
"Perhaps that's what I'm going to do once we get back", Willow said that she might do that.
"Lasty we can put Jacque out of the job and in prison for his crimes thus removing an asset of the CIS", Hakaze said to them.
"But I already sent you my resume, you returned it unopened." Willow said after she notice that he never opened her resume.
"What can I say? Jaune Arc's very particular about who he works with." Weston said about Jaune Arc.
"Really?" Willow commented.
"Not really", Jaune answered that he's nothing like his counterpart.
"Maybe sometimes", Saphron said.
"Please, just an audition, that's all I'm asking." Willow said and she's not backing out from this.
"Monty Oum, you don't give up, do you?" Weston ask after knowing that Willow is not going to call it quits.
"Mr. Weston, I know this role backwards." Willow is still trying to get it.
"Well, that's too bad, because we just gave the part to someone else. Sorry, kid the play is cast." Weston said and they are standing outside a Vale Restaurant and Weston goes to enter. Willow catches a glimpse of plates of food and glasses of wine. She quickly looks away. Weston catches the glance and stops.
"Oh please not that stuff again", Weiss really wants Willow to stop with the wine.
"She's not going to do it", Winter told her.
"Oh yes she won't go for it", Hakaze said.
"Then this version of your mom isn't like the one you know here", Ruby commented.
"Look, I know times are tough. You want my advice? Use what you got. You're not bad looking, a girl like you doesn't have to starve." Weston said and hope flickers in Willow's eyes as Weston fishes into his pocket for a pen and business card. He scribbles down an address.
"There's a new place, just opened." Weston said and hands it to her.
"Listen, princess, this gig ain't the Palace, you understand? Ask for Kenny. Tell him I sent you." Weston hands her the business card, Willow looks down at the address, not recognizing it. She looks at him questioningly.
"Just play the date, take the money and forget you was ever there." Weston said evasive.
"The only time I remember being a called a princess is by my own father", Willow said.
"You still are my daughter", Nicholas says and gave Willow a smile on her face.
Willow staring down at the piece of paper in her hand.
"So what now?" Blake wonders as the scene changes.
"Moving on to the next scene where we meet the other cast", Hakaze said to Blake.
End
Next up we are still in Vale and we meet the other members of the cast.
Notes: If any of are thinking if this will be the Original Cut or the Extended Cut, it depends on the transcript I find.
