"that DogDay kid is an odd one" Bobby commented as she, Bubba, Hoppy, Kickin' and Picky walked through a hallway.
"no kidding. he was loud as hell last night. I didn't get to sleep until 11 pm!" Bubba complained.
"I had to go to the bathroom for a towel because I got all wet" Hoppy admitted, her cloud beginning to drizzle.
"lets just go to class. I don't want to be late" Bubba spoke, speeding up his pace as Kickin' looked up at a clock.
"its only 8 in the morning! class starts at 8:45!" Kickin' replied.
"still don't want to be late!" Bubba announced as he began running.
DogDay yawned as he walked through the empty hallway while holding his schedule.
"okay looks like english class is first in 5 minutes" he thought aloud as he walked up to a door labeled 'english class grade 9'.
he opened the door, ignoring the other people as he went to the front row and sat down in the only empty seat.
"isn't that the new kid?" the white unicorn critter whispered to the purple cat critter.
"that's right! the names DogDay!" he replied, turning around in his seat to look at the two critters in the back row.
the cat critter waved back, his sleepy smile lit by the sunlight from the window. he was a violet purple cat critter with his paws and the inside of his ears mauve purple and light scars scattered across his tail. he was wearing an indigo purple string-less pocket hoodie, studio purple sweatpants and soft amethyst purple sneakers. resting against his chest from around his neck was a yellow crescent moon pendant.
"he doesn't have much energy during the day" the white unicorn critter admitted. her aqua cyan mane, tail, hooves and the inside of her ears stood out bright against her cream white coat. she wore a columbia blue long-sleeved shirt-dress, a sky blue artist-apron splattered in various colors, a lemonade pink hoodless-capelet and blush pink soft sneakers while her shoulder-length mane was tied back in a high ponytail. the brightest piece of her appearance was the rainbow flower pendant she was wearing around her neck.
"hey why'd you run off like that earlier when Bobby asked about your powers?" Bubba asked, sitting right next to him.
"oh um, I don't actually know what my powers are. my parents just switched me from a normal public school to this magic boarding school without explaining why" DogDay explained.
"don't worry! we'll help you! everybody how we feeling about Pup over here?" Kickin' spoke, pointing at DogDay at the word 'Pup'.
"my names DogDay" the dog critter spoke up.
"yeah I have a habit of nicknames" Kickin' shrugged from his seat in the second row.
"some of them are rude. like he calls me nerd a lot" Bubba spoke, fiddling with his pencil.
"but you are a nerd, Nerd!" Kickin' insisted.
Bubba rolled his eyes right before the teacher entered the room.
"hello class. as I'm sure you're aware, we have a new student. I will assume you've already introduced yourself so I'll just start the class" the teacher explained. she was an adult human woman whos chocolate colored skin had lighter patches splattered all over and dark shaded braids had a few strands of silver. she wore a darkish cyan sweater, black jeans and tall dark brown laced boots.
"miss Chara Charm, why do we need to learn English if we all already speak it?" Hoppy asked from the third row, raising her paw.
"Hopscotch we've had this conversation multiple times just in this school year" the teacher grumbled.
"I know. I was just making sure DogDay knew your name" Hoppy shrugged, tapping both her paws on her desk.
"so you don't know what your powers are?" the teacher asked. he was a adult human man who had white chocolate toned skin and short coal stained hair. he was wearing a plaid sweater over a white shirt with its collar peaking out, brown pants hiding the white socks with the help of his black loafers.
"no mister Adoration. my parents didn't tell me" DogDay shook his head.
"alright. you can just watch the other students with Bubba and Bobby while I go call your parents" the teacher nodded before leaving the gym.
DogDay looked over to see Bubba and Bobby sitting on a bench talking over what looked to be a medic book.
"hi there. what are you talking about?" DogDay asked, sitting down next to them.
"oh Bubbas helping me understand the human body. a healer needs to know how the inner workings of whoever they're healing or something terrible could happen. like the wrong bones connecting, or blood streams stretching. I swear my parents described the effects of healing without knowing the inner workings way too much" Bobby explained.
"yeah you did that to me. I go to sleep at 11 way too often because of your descriptions" Bubba replied.
"so how long did it take you to learn what your powers were?" Dogday asked as he crossed his legs.
"oh everyone biologically related to my dad has healing powers. it runs in the family" Bobby shrugged.
"my brother noticed my eyes glowing" Bubba shrugged.
"your eyes glow?" Dogday questioned.
"they glow in the dark. comes with my powers. night vision, glow in the dark eyes-"
"I've always wanted to see that"
"-and according to some history books I'm immune to 'darkness based attacks' whatever that means" Bubba explained.
"'darkness based attacks'?" Dogday repeated.
Bobby shrugged.
"maybe, it means attacks from a person with darkness related powers?" Dogday guessed.
"yeah lets go with that. that's the best guess I've ever heard" Bubba agreed.
"aw sh-ooot!" Crafty whined, a brick having landed on her foot.
"why were you lifting bricks!?" Bobby asked as she stood up.
Dogday watched as Bobby walked over to Crafty.
"this is going to be a weird school year" he thought to himself.
