It has been four years since Johnathan Gale went on his annual camping trip with his father, Daniel Gale, and met Sludge, who had spent the last few years preparing for Johnathan's journey to the Kanto region with Sludge and his two best friends were now that they were all the legal age to be Pokemon trainers.

Today was a beautiful moonlit evening in Cedar Town, located in the Orano Region. A young twelve-year-old boy named Johnathan Gale was sitting up in bed wearing orange pajamas with a large logo of a Dusk ball on the shirt. He was reading a book on nutrition for pokemon, while the TV was playing a scene of Kyle, last year's winner of the Indigo League, battling against Bruno of the Elite Four. Meanwhile, Sludge was lying beside Johnathan, gazing at the TV.

"Sludge, now that I'm finally twelve years old. I can finally receive my Pokemon trainer license," Jonathan said, smiling at Sludge as he closed his book."I will soon begin my Pokemon journey, gaining knowledge in training fighting-type Pokemon, traveling and exploring the world and new places, and one day I will become the world's greatest Fighting-type Pokemon master!" he stated, raising his fist in the air with a wide smile on his face.

At that moment, the door slammed open, making Johnathan jump in surprise. He turned to see none other than his mother, Zinnia, standing outside the door with her arms crossed, and beside her was a beautiful Liepard.

"Johnathan Ryan Gale, what are you still doing awake?' Zinnia asked with a stern expression on her face."It's midnight, you and Sludge should be fast asleep." She said, glancing over at the moon-shaped clock on the nightstand.

"Liepard!" Liepard cried out, shaking his head at Johnathan being up way past lights out.

"I'm sorry, Mom, I guess in my excitement of finally going on my first Pokémon journey, it kept me awake," Johnathan said, rubbing sheepishly behind his neck."I got caught up in my reading on the proper nutrition for Pokémon," He said, putting his book on the nightstand near his clock.

"It doesn't matter, you should be fast asleep if you are going to be taking a flight to Kanto," Zinnia said.

"Come on, Mom, don't be too hard on him," A soft voice said."Johnathan was just trying to prepare for tomorrow mentally. At least he was doing something educational," A beautiful, slender fifteen-year-old female with long green hair and light purple eyes said, appearing behind Zinnia, wearing a long-sleeved sleeve pink, puffy shirt and matching pants.

"Annabelle, what are you doing up? Aren't you supposed to be sleeping? Don't you have a ferry to catch to Sinnoh?" Zinnia asked.

"I was just checking my bag for any last-minute supplies I need to pack," Annabelle replied."Anyway, cut him some slack. He will wake up on time. Sludge will make sure of that."

"Alright, both of you just get to bed already," Zinnia said, glancing at both of her children.

"Yes, Mom, have a good night, see you in the morning, you as well, Liepard," Jonathan said, laying down in bed as Sludge jumped down from the bed and climbed into a circular-shaped black bed beside the window.

"Good night, little brother," Annabelle said, smiling at her brother as she left the room.

"Sleep well, Ry-bear and Annabelle, you in bed as well," Zinnia called out to her oldest child as she turned off the bedroom lights and shut the door behind her.

'Tomorrow is going to be an amazing day. I can't wait. I will be a step closer to my goal. Jonathan thought of dozing off to sleep.

The next morning, the sound of a blaring alarm woke up Johnathan from his dreams of Pokémon battles. He reached over and hit the off button and turned on his left side, groaning."Just five more minutes," He mumbled.

Sludge yawned as she stretched her arms, stood up from her bed, and glanced over at Johnathan, shaking her head. She ran over to his bed, jumped up, and jabbed his side with her fist.

"Alright, no need to jab me, Sludge. I'm getting up," Jonathan groaned, rubbing his side, before sitting up in bed, yawning."Good morning, pal, but don't wake me up like that. It hurts."

"Croagunk!"

"Yeah, yeah, I know you wouldn't have jabbed me if I had gotten up the moment my alarm went off," Johnathan mumbled."I'm going to get dressed and ready; no need to jab me again," He said, getting out of bed and making his way to the bathroom to get ready for the day.

A few moments later, Johnathan stepped out of the bathroom with his hair combed, with no more signs of bedhead. He was wearing an orange jacket with white outlines wiped up with the collar of a red shirt showing from beneath the jacket collar, along with white sweatpants with green stripes down the sides and his favorite red and white sneakers, and his hands were tucked in his jacket pockets.

"Let's eat breakfast before we head out, Sludge," Johnathan said, looking at his number one partner.

"Croa!" Sludge cried out as she jumped onto Johnathan's back with her hands around his neck as they exited the bedroom.

Jonathan arrived downstairs and made his way to the kitchen, where he spotted his father, wearing a brown vest over a white long-sleeve shirt with a black apron around his waist and grey pants with brown shoes, standing at the stove making breakfast. Meanwhile, a seven-year-old boy with fair skin complexion, short brown hair, and light blue eyes wearing a long-sleeved yellow shirt with blue shorts and blue sneakers was

He is sitting down at a bright red table with a bright smile on his face, drinking a smoothie.

"Good morning, " Jonathan greeted, walking over towards the table as Sludge jumped down from his back.

"Croagunk!" Sludge greeted with a wave as she walked over towards a black bowl full of food in the corner next to the fridge.

"Good morning, big bro!" Reily greeted, jumping up from his seat and running over and hugging his older brother.

Johnathan chuckled."Hey, there, little man, how are you this morning?" He said."Also, where are Mom and big sister Anna?" He asked, glancing over at his father.

"Your mother headed out early to get things set up at the lab for today, " Daniel replied."As for your sister, she just headed out to catch the ferry to Sinnoh and left you a last-minute birthday present in the living room where I left your packed bag."

"A present, what is it?" Johnathan asked curiously.

"You can find out later. First, eat breakfast, then you can see what it is," Daniel said, placing a plate with a fluffy stack of Eevee pancakes, a side of bacon, and a smoothie.

"Yes, father," Jonathan replied as he started eating his breakfast.

After a good fifteen, Johnathan stood all finished with eating his breakfast and drinking his smoothie."Alright, I will head on off to Mom's lab to receive my pokedex and trainer license." He said, pushing in his chair as Sludge ran over and climbed onto his back.

"Hold on before you leave. Your Echopad is programmed with the Kanto map," Daniel said, walking over towards Jonathan and handing to him a sleek, orange, compact, and rounded device."As I explained yesterday when I gave you this Echopad as a birthday gift, its latest functions include a map that tracks your location and shows nearby routes & towns & cities & Pokémon habitats, but the habitat locations are still in the early stages. You can also make voice and video calls and leave trade requests. That is all the functions for this version of the Echopad."

"I understand, " Jonathan said, putting his Echpad in his jacket pocket. "I will take good care of it."

"I know you will now get your bag and get the plane ticket in the side pocket of your bag," Daniel said.

"Bye!" Jonathan said, waving bye to his father as he left the kitchen and entered the living room, where he spotted his bag by the coffee table, where a light brown egg with a cream patch was placed in an incubator, and next to it was a note.

'A Pokémon egg is what Anna left me.' Jonathan thought, looking at the note as he picked it up.

"Croagunk," Sludge cried out, looking at the egg.

"It says she got the egg delivered from her boyfriend's family breeding center," Johnathan said, putting away the note and the egg in his bag."No hint on what Pokémon it is, but I guess that the point of an egg is the surprise of what Pokémon it hatches into," He commented as he put his bag on his back. Sludge got down and walked beside him out of the house.

Johnathan was walking down a dirt path with Sludge walking beside him; soon, he came into view, uphill, a large white rectangular-shaped flower pattern stained glass windows, and a pink Pokeball symbol on the roof.

"Sludge, this mom lab, soon we'll begin a journey to Kanto," he said, glancing at his partner.

"Croagunk!"

"You're just as excited as I, aren't you?" He asked, smiling at Sludge.

Sludge nodded in response.

As they got closer, they both heard familiar voices up ahead. One of them sounded ice cold.

"Sorry, my bad," A soft, angelic, feminine voice said.

"You should watch where your shortie is," An icy, cold monotone voice said.

"Watch your attitude, jerk," A smooth voice said.

Johnathan, along with Sludge, turned towards the direction of the voices and spotted three familiar figures.

The first figure was a beautiful twelve-year-old female with a peach skin tone. She has lovely brown hair down to her shoulders and emerald green eyes. She was wearing a red sleeveless vest over a blue shirt, along with a red skirt and white leggings with bark blue boots. She was carrying a red crossbody bag. This was Celo Skye, one of his best friends.

The second one was a twelve-year-old boy with a fair-skinned tone, short blonde hair, and olive green eyes. He was wearing a black jacket over a grey one with a Pokeball icon, along with black jeans, black sneakers, and a pair of gray gloves. He also had on a red hat with an embroidered pattern, half of a Pokeball. This was Tony Rivers.

The third and final figure was a twelve-year-old boy with slightly pale skin and a lean and toned build. He has teal shoulder-length tousled and wavy hair and silver eyes. He was wearing a red leather jacket over a grey shirt with black leather pants and grey and black shoes. This was Austin Martain, the rude boy in town.

"Austin, cold as usual, aren't you?" Jonathan commented.

"I didn't ask for your opinion, you orange," Austin muttered, walking into the lab.

"That jerk," Celo mumbled.

"Just ignore him, don't let him ruin today," Tony said.

"Yeah, let's just go inside. my mom is waiting," Jonathan said, walking towards the door.

"Croagunk!"

The trio and Sludge headed on inside the lab where they saw Professor Zinnia standing in front of Austin. Her eyes turned to see Johnathan, Tony, and Celo enter the lab."So everyone is here now, alright, follow me you four."

The four beginner trainers followed Professor Zinnia as she led them towards a far back room in the lab where three Pokeballs were sitting on a silver stand on a medium-sized black desk."Now you three will choose your starter Pokémon, Jonathan, you just wait, as soon as these three get their starters, you all get your Pokedex, which is also your trainer ID," She said."Since Celo's birthday is today, she picks first."

"Whatever, she just will pick the worst one," Austin muttered.

"Austin, you go last if you don't lose the attitude," Professor Zinna said with a stern expression."Now, first up, we have Springkid, the grass type." She said, tossing the Pokeball in the air and sending out a small quadrupedal fuzzy goat with pale green fur, clover-like tufts on its back, and a little curling horn. Its hooves are dark brown and sturdy, and it has ivy markings around its eyes.

"Springkid," Springkid cried out, tapping its hooves with excitement, ready to receive a trainer.

"Next up is Kindlix, the fire type," She said, sending out a sleek red fox kit with ash-black paws and a soft orange coat. Its bushy tail constantly burns with a tiny flame, and its ears curl slightly at the tips. Its eyes are golden and curious.

"Kindlix," Kimdlix said, looking at the four trainers curiously.

'That Pokémon is cute and see Celo picking Kindlix.'Jonathan thought while looking at Kindlix.

"Finally, we have Drishell, the water type," She said, sending out a cubby river otter with navy-blue fur, shell-like pattern on its belly, and large expressive eyes. It wears a pebble tucked under its arm like a prize possession. Its tail is thick and paddle-like.

"Go ahead and make your pick, Celo," Zinnia said, smiling at Celo.

Celo walked forward and kneeled in front of the three starter Pokémon, studying them for a moment.

"I'm going with Kindlix," Celo said, picking up the fire-type starter and giving it a gentle hug.

"Kind!" Kindlix cried out as it nuzzled its head against Celo.

"Alright, here is Kindlix Pokeball," Zinnia said, handing a Pokeball with a flame sticker on the top to Celo."Also, before the next person chooses their starter. You should tell Celo that your Kindlix is female."

"I see, thank you for Kindlix, now return," Celo said, returning her newly received starter Pokémon.

"Alright, now why don't you go next, Tony?" Zinnia said.

"I already thought about it, the obvious choice is Drishell," Tony replied as he walked over and stroked Drishell.

Zinnia nodded as she handed Drishell's Pokeball to Tony, who returned his new Pokémon.

"I wanted Springkid anyway, everyone knows it evolves into the best Pokémon," Austin commented as he took the Pokeball from Zinna and returned his starter Pokémon.

"Now that you all receive your starters, you will need these," Zinnia said as she walked away towards a computer and grabbed a few items."The first is your Pokedex and ten Pokeballs to get you started on catching Pokémon," She said, holding out four rectangular devices, palm-sized devices with rounded edges and one button at the bottom of it. She also has a tray with Pokeballs on it as she gives a red device to Austin and ten Pokeballs while Tony gets a yellow one, Celo a green one, and an orange one to Jonathan, and each then gets ten Pokeballs.

"I'm out here," Austin said.

"Wait, you should know how your Pokedex works," Zinnia said."It has a holographic function that allows you to view a 3d hologram of the Pokémon entry that you can zoom or rotate, and swipe through entries with a simple hand gesture. Now, if you push the button, you can access your Pokemon storage and switch out Pokémon without needing to contact me," She explained.

"I'm out of here, see you around, Johnny-boy," Austin commented, walking off with a smug smile on his face.

"That boy won't get far with that attitude," Zinnia commented."Now you both should be going as well, but before you go, as soon as you arrive, I Kanto go see Professor Oak in Pallet town, he can give you information on Pokémon native to Kanto."

"We make sure to do that, Mom," Jonathan replied, waving bye to his mother as Sludge climbed onto his back."You ready for the trip to Kanto, Sludge?"

"Croagunk!"
