Battle of Chibi

It was time, the two armies were arrayed and ready to begin, Cao-Cao's forces on the north shore, Sun Quan's on the south. The news had just filtered through to the Wu camp that Cai Mao and Zhang Yun had been executed, Cao-Cao having fallen for the letter. This would surely affect morale, something that would make things easier as the fight began, especially as they still had parts of their plan to put into place.

"My Lord, look." One lookout called.

Sun Quan took note, a small collection of ships was moving from the North side, rocking with the motion of the water.

"Deter them from getting close, use the arrows at least until Lu Su is in position, send word for him to intercept." Sun Quan ordered.

Orders were given and passed on and Lu Su smiled as he readied his ships.

"Excellent, we're ready to begin then?"

He turned to see Pang Tong approaching.

"Yes indeed, are you coming with us?" Lu Su queried.

Pang Tong nodded. "Yes, after we deal with those ships, would you drop me off on the Northern shore, I need to sneak behind enemy lines to deliver my trap to them."

Lu Su nodded. "Very well, let's go then."

Pang Tong also boarded and soon they were sailing out. They could see the enemy ships, under bombardment by the arrows until they finally stopped as Lu Su and his ships drew close. They could overhear the talk onboard.

"I'm not drunk, not at all…" A jovial voice slurred. "That wine from Pang Tong was soooo good."

He then hiccupped while another groaned, sounding very sick.

"My head is spinning, I can't take this."

Then another voice, worried. "This isn't good, my men are suffering from seasickness, they look as sick as I feel…"

Lu Su nodded to Pang Tong and they came up close, leaping onto the enemy ships, their troops doing the same with a shout.

There were cries of dismay and fear from the troops of Cao-Cao, the officer gasped and raised his Ballistic Spears.

"Oh no, now the enemy, this isn't good at all." Cao-Cao's officer Guo Huai cried out.

Lu Su raised his battle Rake. "Now, take them down, quickly, show them the power of Wu!"

With a resounding cheer the men clashed, weakened by their seasickness, exacerbated by their drunkenness, the troops were unable to fight. Guo Huai fought bravely but was unable to face off against Lu Su and the Shadow Fan armed Pang Tong. Unable to take any more he hurried to a smaller boat fixed to the back of his ship.

"If only we could do something about the seasickness." Guo Huai said mournfully. "How can I show my face to my Lord."

With that he detached the ship and fled.

"Alright, we're off to a good start, let's get to the northern shore." Pang Tong remarked.

Lu Su agreed. "Alright, we better hurry though."

With that they sailed on and soon reached the shore.

"Alright, I'll slip into Cao-Cao's camp and convince them to chain their ships together...do you think you could do me a favour. Liu Bei asked me to try and do it but I might need some help." Pang Tong requested. "You know Xu Shu of course, if you find him could you please warn him about the impending attack, he won't tell Cao-Cao, it's just to give him a chance to flee."

Lu Su agreed with this and so they went to carry out their missions.

Back at the main camp at Chibi, Sun Quan watched anxiously as Cai He and Cai Zhong were questioning Huang Gai about the ships he was using, luckily Huang Gai seemed to have convinced them as they left without much fuss. But he gave the signal to Ding Feng regardless, to make sure they wouldn't ruin things. That was when suddenly they got word from the scouts.

"My Lord we have problems. Enemy forces led by Cao Pi and Zhenji have landed to the west, they are advancing on Liu Bei and the Princess!"

"What?!" Sun Quan gasped, hearing that his ally and sister were in danger.

But that wasn't all as another spoke. "The enemy tactician Jia Xu has found Zhuge Liang's altar, he'll interrupt the prayer for south-easterly wind. Not to mention Dong Zhao is leading troops here to attack us."

"So...they're pressuring us, but we must stand our ground." Zhou Yu remarked. "My Lord, we must put a stop to this at once."

"Of course." Sun Quan agreed and gave his orders. "Han Dang, intercept and defeat Dong Zhao's forces, Cheng Pu, go and aid Shangxiang and Liu Bei. Zhu Ran, go and take down Jia Xu before he foils Zhuge Liang's plan."

They all accepted the orders and hurried out. Sun Quan turned to Zhou Yu.

"I hope this works, I don't know how much longer we can hold the line."

Zhou Yu nodded. "I know, don't worry, we're getting there, look at Cao-Cao's navy."

Sun Quan turned to do so and saw he was right, the ships had moved, were being chained together, just as Pang Tong had planned.

They were relieved some time later when Lu Su and Pang Tong returned only shortly before the others did and all reported their successes, although Pang Tong had got into a skirmish with two more officers of Cao-Cao, Yu Jin and Cai Wenji, but he had deterred them and got them to chain the ships together and Cao-Cao's navy was starting to move. Lu Su reported that Xu Shu was safe and the various attacking groups had been repelled and finally, at that exact moment, Zhuge Liang's altar did its work, the wind blew and Zhou Yu was shocked but quickly covered it and gave the order. Ding Feng dealt with Cai He and Cai Zhang and Huang Gai began sailing his ships over towards Cao-Cao's navy, just as they had hoped, they believed he was indeed defecting.

"Big mistake, now, face to searing hot wrath of Wu!" Huang Gai announced.

With that he lit up the fire ships and got onto the smaller ship being tugged along behind and detached it, sailing at his own pace the soon the impact was felt and the conflagration began. The screams and cries echoed as the ships soon all caught fire, the wind spreading the flames fast and the ships being chained together prevented them from actually breaking apart to reduce the spread of the flames.

"Now, let's see how you stand against us. For the glory of Wu!" Huang Gai rallied.

But then, it happened. An arrow was fired from Cao-Cao's ships, it hit Huang Gai in the shoulder and he staggered, grunting, but then overbalanced and fell into the water.
