Chapter 2
It had been several days since Quinn had been at Incision.
She couldn't stop thinking about Rachel. Those milk chocolate eyes that seemed to see straight into her soul. That rock-hard body underneath her as they laid on the mat in the ring, daring her to touch and caress. That smile; bright and wide, promising wicked actions to the most sensitive of Quinn's body parts.
Quinn fanned herself, feeling a flush overcome her skin. Rachel was one magnificent creature.
The tinkling of the bell on the door of the cafe pulled her from her thoughts.
And as if she'd manifested the vampire into reality, Rachel strode inside.
Quinn's breath caught in her throat as she took in the vampire's appearance. Today the brunette was wearing dark jeans that clung deliciously to her thighs, a loose tank top over a sports bra and a pair of black boots that covered her calves. All in all, she was stunning.
Rachel looked around the small cafe, a grin growing on her face when she spotted her.
Quinn swallowed as the brunette began making her way toward her small table.
"Hello, Quinn." Rachel greeted with a smile.
The room suddenly felt even warmer.
A genuine smile spread across Quinn's face. She was happy to see Rachel and she couldn't hide it even if she wanted to.
She should be freaked out after what Santana and Brittany had told her, but she wasn't. After they'd left Incision, Quinn had peppered her two best friends with questions about Rachel. The most shocking information she'd received was that Rachel was not only Santana's cousin, but she was the actual, not kidding, real Princess of Vampires. That didn't make any sense. After all the years she'd known Santana, not once had her friend said anything about being royalty. The Latina had just shrugged it off, telling her it wasn't a big deal. Brittany, however, had been bouncing in her seat the entire time, finally relieved she didn't have to hide that information from Quinn anymore. Perhaps Quinn was even more shocked that Brittany had actually kept a secret for so long. Quinn had known Santana worked closely with her family and was often away doing "family business", but Quinn would never have guessed that "business" was for the Vampire Throne.
Now she was more curious about the Vampire Princess. "Hi, Rachel."
"Mind if I sit?" Rachel asked, motioning toward the empty chair across from the blonde.
"Please do." Quinn gathered up her notebook and pencils and slid them into her bag on the floor. She looked up and smiled at Rachel, happy to see her again.
A short blonde waitress stopped at their table, fixing her gaze on Rachel. "Can I get you anything to drink," she asked, a blush creeped onto her cheeks as her gaze grew heavy and lustful.
Rachel gave her a courteous smile. "Just a glass of milk, if you have it."
The waitress nodded, looking like she would scour the city for milk if they didn't have any. Anything to please Rachel. "Of course." She quickly hurried off.
Quinn arched her eyebrow at the interaction.
Rachel just laughed then shrugged. "Hazard of being a vampire."
"Trust me, your vampire has nothing to do with it," Quinn assured her, now feeling the blush on her own cheeks.
Surprisingly fast, the waitress returned with a tall glass of milk and reverently set it on the table in front of Rachel. "If there is anything else you need… anything at all, please let me know."
"I will," the vampire promised and the waitress skipped away with a huge grin.
Quinn shook her head in amusement. She took a sip of her coffee, deciding to forget that it was probably always like this for Rachel.
They sat in silence for a couple minutes until Rachel cleared her throat causing Quinn to look up from her bowl of soup. The brunette had a lopsided smile on her face, making her look playful. But damn if it wasn't the sexiest thing the blonde had ever seen.
"I forgot to ask you out to dinner," Rachel said, her eyes holding a spark.
Quinn's mouth hung open in confusion, not sure she'd heard right. "Um… what?"
Rachel's smile turned devilish and Quinn had the urge to kiss it right off her face. "The other day at the fight club… I forgot to ask you out for dinner before you left."
"Dinner?"
"Yes, dinner. You do eat, don't you?" Rachel's voice was a mix of amusement and teasing.
"Umm." Quinn stammered for a few seconds, fiddling with her spoon. "I can't."
Rachel's response was quick. "You can't eat or… you can't eat with me?"
"I can't go out with you because it wouldn't be right."
Rachel quirked her eyebrow, her eyes darkening. "You're not seeing anyone, are you?"
Seeing the small change in Rachel's demeanor caused Quinn's heart to beat faster. Was that anger she was seeing in Rachel's eyes? Or was it jealousy? "No. I'm not seeing anyone."
Rachel visibly relaxed. "Then why wouldn't it be right?" A smile played on her lips.
That damn smile made Quinn herself smile and lose her train of thought. Very unlike her. "What about Santana?"
"What about her?" Rachel asked in confusion.
"You're her cousin. Isn't there some universal family code that says you're not supposed to date someone in your best friend's family?"
That made the vampire laugh. "Not that I know of, no." She took a sip of her milk, watching Quinn over the rim.
Quinn could feel Rachel assessing her, taking in every emotion spiraling through her body. She couldn't help herself around this woman and it made her feel unraveled.
"Come on, let me take you to dinner. Just dinner. I promise to behave myself," the brunette's dark eyes twinkled.
"Why?"
"Why what?" Rachel asked, her eyebrow arched.
"Why do you want to have dinner with me?"
Rachel took a slow appraisal of Quinn, then gave her a smile with an edge of sexual undertones before she spoke. "You intrigue me."
Quinn blushed, but forced herself to remain quiet.
"I can tell you're smart and confident. And to have been friends with Santana for so long you obviously know how to stand your ground. That takes strength. And to have Brittany as a friend, that says a lot of good and caring about your character." She stopped and watched Quinn for a moment before continuing. "And when I look in your eyes I see a little flicker of light…"
She paused.
Quinn watched her, but still didn't speak. Warm tingles spread through her body as she hung on Rachel's every word.
"And for the last few days, all I can think about is what it would take for me to turn that flicker into a flame."
Holy. Shit.
Quinn stared at Rachel for a long moment, feeling that same intense pull toward her she'd felt at Incision. The pull that somehow told her that she belonged with Rachel… belonged to Rachel. And, she admitted to herself, she was more than okay with that. "I would love to."

Quinn looked in the mirror at the new outfit she'd picked out and decided it would have to do. Her bed was littered with clothes, haphazardly thrown all over the place. She must have tried on ten different outfits.
She'd never given much thought to what she wore when she'd gone on dates with other people, but she wanted to look sexy tonight for Rachel. She'd seen desire in the brunette's eyes at the coffee shop and it fueled her.
She took one last look in the mirror and liked what she saw. She had on a pair of brand new jeans that Brittany said made her ass look delicious, a soft pink completely see-through blouse with a white cami underneath. She topped it off with a pair of comfortable shoes. Rachel had told her to dress casual.
At exactly 7pm, the doorbell rang to the apartment. Quinn took a deep breath to settle her nerves then walked over and opened the door. She felt her heart skip a beat as she took in the beautiful woman standing there. Rachel was wearing sexy jeans and a black shirt that looked like it was painted on, showing off every glorious curve. Sexy. Sensual.
"You look… delicious," Rachel said, her eyes darkening. "Are you ready to go?"
A blush spread across Quinn's face and she nodded.
Rachel took Quinn's hand and they made their way outside. Quinn had expected to see a car out front, but Rachel pulled her toward a sleek black motorcycle that was parked at the curb in front of the building. Then handed her a helmet with a devilish smile.
"Have you ever ridden before?" Rachel asked, helping Quinn secure the latches on the helmet.
"No."
"Are you nervous?"
Quinn could see the genuine concern in those soft brown eyes. "No. Should I be?" she teased.
"Of course not. You're always safe with me." Rachel smiled, and Quinn knew there was a deeper meaning to those words. "Let's go then." The brunette slipped her own helmet on and casually threw her leg over the bike, seating herself like she'd done it a thousand times before.
She turned to Quinn standing next to her and waited, her smile still in place. Quinn shook her head with humor and grinned before carefully straddling the seat behind Rachel. She was pretty sure she heard Rachel chuckle.
She wasn't quite sure what to do with herself once she was on the back of the bike. She felt slightly awkward. Leaving space between their bodies and resting her palms near Rachel's shoulders.
"Scoot forward," Rachel instructed. "Wrap your arms around my waist and hold on tight."
Quinn didn't hesitate and did as she was told. Butterflies erupting in her stomach.
"Put your feet on the pegs and don't move them. Not even a little."
Okay, so now Quinn may be a little nervous. She considered asking what would happen if she moved her feet, but the thought was fleeting as Rachel pulled away from the curb and she found herself wrapping her arms around the brunette's waist in a death grip.
After a few minutes, she started to relax. The traffic was light and it was a beautiful late summer night. The wind sweeping past her face felt exhilarating. Freeing. She loosened her death grip around Rachel's waist, and splayed her hands on her abdomen. For the first time, she was relaxed enough to actually feel what was beneath her hands. Solid muscle. Her mind went back to when she'd seen Rachel at the fight club, that sports bra and shorts perfectly showing off those luscious abs. She remembered wanting to run her hands—and other parts of her body—all over them. And right now she wanted to explore them with her hands… but decided now wouldn't be a good time, considering they were going pretty fast down the street.
Rachel slowed and steered the motorcycle around the back of a tall building, and then under a slow rising door leading into an underground garage. Once they pulled the bike inside, the door closed behind them.
Rachel turned the motorcycle off and pulled off her helmet.
Quinn followed her lead. "Where are we?" she asked, looking around at the other vehicles parked in the designated spaces.
"I live here." Rachel smirked, her eyes shining bright. "I decided instead of taking you out for dinner, I'd make you dinner here."
Quinn arched an eyebrow, impressed. She did her best to unstraddle the bike in a ladylike manner… not an easy task to accomplish.
The sides of Rachel's mouth turned upwards in a hint of her devilish grin. "Let me help you." She took Quinn's helmet and set it next to hers then linked their fingers together.
The hair on the back of Quinn's neck stood up of its own accord, her body buzzing from a simple touch. What was it about this woman that drove her body completely crazy? She felt so comfortable with her… and safe. Her free hand wrapped around Rachel's bicep, her body snuggling closer to the vampire's as Rachel led them through a door and into a large lobby. Quinn looked around and saw it was more like a guard station. There was a large area with a lot of comfortable-looking couches and it looked like there were several offices.
"Quinn, I'd like to introduce you to Mike."
Quinn turned in surprise to see an Asian man, around Rachel's age, standing next to a long counter, a big smile on his face. Quinn smiled. "Hi, Mike. It's good to meet you," she said, holding out her hand.
Mike took her hand into his and, to Quinn's surprise, lifted it to his mouth and placed a kiss on it. "It's nice to see someone able to put up with Rachel and not go screaming for the hills."
Rachel grinned. "Well, get used to seeing her. I have a feeling she'll be around a lot."
Quinn spun toward Rachel in surprise. What did Rachel mean by that?
Before she could ask, Rachel pulled her toward an elevator. Just before they stepped in, Quinn looked back at Mike and saw a flabbergasted look on his face.
At the top floor, Rachel held Quinn's hand as they walked off the elevator. Quinn noticed there were only two doors in the long corridor, one on each end, meaning only two apartments took up the entire floor. Each apartment must be huge.
Rachel led Quinn down the hallway to the right, toward the door at the far end. She pulled out her keys and unlocked the apartment, ushering Quinn inside.
Quinn looked around in awe at the huge open space. Off to one side was a sleek modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances. There was an oversized island and gleaming granite countertops that modernized the dark wood cabinetry beneath them. A large wooden table that could easily fit ten people. The living area took up the other half of the area and had the largest sectional couch that she had ever seen. One wall held two large bookcases stocked with books.
Her nose caught the heavenly aroma of Italian marinara sauce. "Are you making me spaghetti?"
Rachel smiled at her as they walked into the kitchen. "Manicotti actually."
"I'm impressed."
"I'm a pretty good cook, if I may say so myself." Rachel walked to the oven and pulled out the delicious smelling food. She motioned for Quinn to sit at the table as she set the manicotti down in the center next to the salad and garlic bread. "Voila! Bon appetit!"
The meal was amazing. Quinn actually had two servings and was embarrassed when Rachel leaned over to wipe a smudge of marinara sauce off her cheek.
Rachel loved it as well. Being able to spend time with this incredible woman beside her made everything and anything worth it. She got lost in those bright hazel green eyes, and could feel a new energy surrounding them.
They laughed and joked the night away, talked about everything under the sun. Quinn told Rachel how she loved drawing and always found it to be an escape for her. Rachel promised to take her to an art gallery soon. Their conversation flowed naturally and the time went by quickly. Too fast, in fact. Eventually they relocated to the couch and their conversation turned to family and friends. Rachel told Quinn a little about her family, about how her mom and Santana's mom are sisters. And they all lived in this building in their own apartments on different floors. Quinn explained how her parents had died while she was at university and she didn't have any other family and if it wasn't for Santana and Brittany she didn't know where her life would be.
As Quinn talked, Rachel felt a strong pull to her. The blonde was truly amazing and Rachel had instantly connected with her the moment she saw her at Delirium. She knew they belonged together. She knew it deep in her heart.
The hours flew by and the women enjoyed every minute together. Unfortunately it came time for Rachel to take Quinn home. Quinn reluctantly agreed and accepted Rachel's outstretched hand to stand.
Riding on the back on Rachel's bike was more fun this time for Quinn. She knew she could easily get used to it, to wrapping her arms around this wonderful vampire. As they drove, the early morning joggers were already out and about. The whole night had flowed effortlessly, without any uncomfortable moments.
Rachel slowed and parked the motorcycle next to Quinn's building. She slid off then helped Quinn, not releasing her hand as they stood face to face. She looked down at Quinn's lips and wanted to just lean forward and take her, to show Quinn that they belong together. But she didn't want to scare her away.
Quinn felt her body brush against Rachel's. She saw the want and yearning in the vampire's eyes. They were so close, and she just wanted Rachel to kiss her. But instead the brunette leaned forward until Quinn felt her breath on her neck. Her whole body responded and she leaned in against the hard body.
Rachel's mouth was so close to her ear it sent warm shivers down her spine. She wanted to feel Rachel's lips against hers, and see if they were as soft as they looked.
The vampire's words were a whisper in her ear as she spoke. "I want to see you again. Soon."
Quinn's body felt the heat from being so close to her. But the feeling swept away as Rachel stepped back, releasing her hold.
"I would like that," Quinn smiled. She needed to feel Rachel once more before she left. Gathering her courage, she stepped forward and pressed her lips firmly to Rachel's. The electricity that had been threatening her body all night zapped to full wattage, quickly threatening to overpowered her. The two women instinctively melted into each other.
Rachel wrapped her arms around Quinn's waist and pulled her as close to her body as possible. She wanted to meld with her, erase any barriers between them.
When they finally broke the kiss, they were both panting. Quinn leaned her forehead on Rachel's. She tried to catch her breath enough to speak. "I want to always feel your arms wrapped around me just like this."
Rachel grinned at the words. "I'm sure we can make that happen."
Quinn reluctantly turned to walk away. She didn't want to leave, but she knew if she didn't, she wouldn't be able to. She walked up the stairs feeling Rachel's eyes on her ass with every step and her hips put on a show as they swayed with renewed enthusiasm.
She opened the door and looked back to find the brunette watching her and not ashamed to let her know it. Quinn shut the door and leaned against it. The only word she could form was, "Wow".
