It was the middle of the night and while her friends slept, Byrdie couldn't sleep even though she like Shocket and the others were exhaustedd after another day of adventures knowing Family Day was coming up where everybody would have a special day with their parents only the female duck-human youngster knew she was adopted which RJ had made fun of which made Shocket yell at him Pkus told Byrdie she didn't care if she was adopted by her parents she was part of her family. I know Shocket's right and my sister even if I know I'm adopted but I feel weird…
That next morning, Shocket noticed an exhausted Byrdie surprised she was exhausted guessing she didn't get enough sleep hugging her as she was wearing her signature purple jacket which Casey along with Rocke got asking what made her lie awake last night as she explained making Rocke understand surprising her he would be alone on Family Day making the young Tenuki kit nod. "I was adopted by Kimi so I know how you feel." he told her making Byrdie smile.
"Thanks Rocke as that helps. I wish there was something we could do, so you could enjoy it." she said as Shocket loved that idea.
"Maybe we can make that happen. We're the Young Guardians and not just a team, but family." she whispered making Burdie, Casey, Emily agree on this knowing if they put their heads together, they could help Rocke enjoy Family Day deciding not to tell RJ or Rocke as RJ would spill the tea which wouldn't be good seeing Rocke going to the communications room where he did his spying stuff sighing hearing the big kids talking about Family Day making him sniffle wiping tears away with his paw getting to work hearing knocking on his door answering seeing Kamala there making him gulp.
"If you found one of m my bugs, I'm sorry." Rocke told her making her chuckle. "Nope we noticed you were a lil down hearing all of us talking about Family Day." she said in a gentle tone knowing he had been through a lot losing Piper and now Family Day was bumming him out but he was smiling to reassure her he was okay making Kamala squeeze his paw gently with an embiggened hand sensing sadness from him stroking behind his ear which was calming him down knowing he was trying to be brave in front of her knowing he needed help and love knowing Shocket and his fellow Young Guardians team mates could help, unaware they were already doing this seeing him pull his rose pink shades over his teary eyes saying he had things to do.
"Alright Rocke. We're here if you wanna talk." Kamala said leaving but he blew into a scented tissue getting to work but she saw Shocket and the other Young Guardians with determined looks on their faces like on a mission sensing it was about Family Day making her smile guessing they wanted to help Rocke feel she was proud of as he helped a lot when Doom had been king and never asked for anything in return and shy aroubd them except for Shocket so she hoped that they could help him. "Yeah Ms Marvel, madam." Shocket said saluting her making Kamala emvarrassed by this.
"Shocket you don't have to salute everytime you see me. I'm still getting used to to being leader." sge admitted stunning Shocket by her words. "I never knew you felt like that. I'm sorry." she told her.
"It's cool Shocket. You were just showing respect." Kamala said to her ruffling her purple-pink mohawk making her giggle as Byrdie found this cute blushing hoping their idea could work hearing the normally chill Rocke yelling seeing RJ run out of there making Shocket get it as the comm room was Rocke's safe space and RJ was invading it which they got.
"I'm calm and RJ should respect my space." Rocke told her. "I know but we should let him be." Shocket told him.
It was the morning of Family Day in the Avengers compiund and the Young Avengers and their families were having fun including Casey, Emily and Shocket along with Byrdie noticing Rocke wasn't there making them concerned hearing he was in his room making the Young Guardians exchange a look deciding to go get him as Nebula and Rocket agreed on this and saw them go to Rocke's room making him surprised they were here. "Rocke your mom might not be here friends are family." Shocket said to we're your family too as we're not just a team and friends, we're family." Shocket told him.
Byrdie, Casey and Emily nodded in agreement hugging him as he cried explaining Kini had been one of Doom's prisoners which was why he'd became Doom's court musician but after they'd stopped Doom, Rocke had no idea what happened to her making them understand and having a picnic of their own making Kamala smile along with Nebula and Rocket at Shocket knowing she was a good kit making Rocke agreeing looking at the locket around his furry neck in the shape of a guitar opening it revealing a photo of him, Kimi and Piper making Shocket in awe asking if that was his family seeing him nod. "That's Piper and Kimi and Kimi adopted me as a baby, finding me in a dumpster near the karaoke bar after I escaped the men in suits and fell in love. Then when I was two, I met Piper and we became a family until now." Rocke told them.
"I see this. You must've loved them." Shocket mumbled.
"Yes we did. But now I have you guys." Rocke told her. Rocket knew that RJ was watching this and wanted to be part of the Young Guardians but hewasn't ready to be part of the team which Shocket knew but didn't want to say taking him aside and talking to him about this.
