It was lunchtime, a regular busy time for the group. Everyone was discussing what was to happen about the upcoming school events. Apparently, there had been so many budget cuts to the different departments and fundraising was going to keep everything together. "How are we even going to have our end of the year Band Banquet? Like the school has to pay for part of it. Just like for prom. But man… I can't believe they're doing it in the gym." al groaned at the thought. He and Karen spent the weekend shopping for the special occasion just for the morning announcement to ruin their fun before it even started. Jiya looked at him, "Hey at least get prom. Apparently the other two high schools in the district aren't getting shit. We're really lucky." Wally nodded his head in agreement, "Yeah that's true but, parents are going to have to do a lot then." Karen sat down at the table, she was perked up in her seat and had a big smile. "Okay, so I think we managed to get a plan for the group to attend prom. Wally is of course taking Jiya. Correct." The girl smiled and her boyfriend threw a thumbs-up. "Joseph is taking Nicole." She gave a princess wave to the teens. "Hi. Heehee… Since both me and Mal are seniors, I'm taking Antonia and he's taking Isaiah so y'all can go as a date. Then Donna is…." Antonia stopped chewing and peeled her eyes wide open. "Wot? Wait." Karen glanced at Donna who had a face food of lunch food. "Did you tell Roy?" "Yeah, I did but he said he might be out of town." She shrugged her shoulders. Karen rolled her eyes and went back to explaining. Antonia was still confused, "Wait that's what you asked me fo-" "Yeah you said you would go to prom if we could get you a ticket." She sat quietly trying to process what was happening. "Yes, b-" "Oh okay cool. So, then me and Toni can double it with you two." Isaiah was fully on board with what was going on. Her friends set her up to with him. Of course, she didn't mind going as Isaiah's date, but it was not her intention to go that way. Did he think of them as dates to prom as an actual date? Samuel had yet to bring up the event. It was something she really wanted to go to, she loved social events. But her boyfriend on the other hand didn't like these organizations much. She would need to break the news to him, and she would need to set up that wall between her and Isaiah. She didn't want to hurt his feelings if something were to happen. Joseph waved his hand to get their attention. He gestured toward Antonia, "Your boyfriend?" She wiped her fingers on the napkin, "I know Sam isn't really fond of formal social events, but we haven't really talked about this. I don't think he would have an issue with me going with Isaiah. He's not the jealous type. But I would just have to tell the mate." Isaiah's smile began to fade a bit, "But we're going as friends. You shouldn't need to ask him for permission to hang out with us. What if he doesn't want to go? Then what?" Antonia looked at him with her brows raised. She didn't like that assumption, "I know I don't need his permission if it's as friends. And if he doesn't want to go to prom I would be an arse and force him. He just needs to be made aware. Like I said he wouldn't take offense to that." Isaiah made an upset expression, he then responded in a sarcastically joyful tone, "Well your boyfriend is known to have anger issues and acts like he needs his input everywhere. That's what I meant by asking." The group got quiet as they heard him speak. Antonia was done with the conversation and needed to shut it down before it would get worse. "Well, last time I checked, he thinks for himself and doesn't have a whole jury to make decisions for him. If he has a problem with our friends, then that is a problem for me. Not anyone else. I don't need him telling me whot and whot not to do. Who the hell do ya take me for?" He looked a bit hurtafter she made herstatement. Karen looked at the two who with he mouth slightly dropped. Mal took a deep breath before moving back to the topic of the clubs affected by the cuts. Antonia looked at Nicole who was ready to walk away as soon as the bell rang.
