Love Letters- Chapter 9, Letter 9

It had been a week since Kagome's last letter. Sesshomaru had been so busy with all of business his father had been giving him, to keep him busy. He finally had time to write back. As he sat at the desk in his room, George Strait playing in the background, he started to write.

My Darling,

All I've been doing is listening to country love songs while I work. They remind me so much of you, not only because you introduced them to me, but because they were written about my feelings for you. See, now I'm starting to sound cheesy. This is what happens when I'm away from you for too long, I get cheesy. I haven't seen your beauty in so long that I cannot even fathom why you would stay with me for so long. My head is filling with doubt, Kagome, and I need to see the love in your eyes again. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to write, I still love you more with each passing day. Absence may make the heart grow fonder, but I cannot wait until I am home.

Sesshomaru sealed the envelope and met Jaken at the elevator. Jaken took the letter and got back in the elevator. At the same time, Ken came out of the second elevator.

"Son, I have to talk to you."

"Father, I'm going back to my room and going back to work. I just had to take a little break."

"I want you to go home. Kagome's so upset that you won't be there for her dinner tonight. I want you to go home and surprise her."

Sesshomaru's face lit up. He could finally go home. To his Kagome.

"Thanks Dad!" Sesshomaru said, running back to his room.

Ken smiled; Sesshomaru hadn't called him anything beside 'father' since he was thirteen years old.

Sesshomaru texted Jaken and told him that if Kagome wrote him back, he would have a two hour layover in Denver. Then he packed; he was finally going home.

*Angelino Heights, California*

Kagome was pacing in her room. Sango and Miroku were running late. They were supposed to help her get ready and take her to the dinner. Then, Sango burst in the room, singing and laughing.

"Come on darling! Let's get you ready."

Kagome nodded and pulled out her dress, Red and slightly tight fitting, especially around her growing belly. After putting on her dress, Sango sat her down and started curling her hair. As she curled, Jaken walked in and handed Kagome a letter. She read it and smiled, then started to write back.

I miss you. Tonight's the dinner, and I wish I didn't have to do this without you. What if I don't make a good impression? I've been writing and re-writing my speech and it sucks. I think I'll just wing it. Maybe I'll talk about my inspiration, so I'll have an excuse to talk about you. How I miss you.

You, and lovey country songs? I really am rubbing off on you. You'll be named soon I hope.

*Denver, Colorado- DIA*

Jaken ran up to the private jet. He gave Sesshomaru his letter and ran back to his plane so he could make it in time for the dinner. Sesshomaru read her words and smiled, she was really going to be surprised.

*Angelino Height, California*

Kagome was now at the dinner. She was mingling with all of the art directors as they looked at all of her previous work. They talked about the upcoming gallery opening and Kagome's pregnancy. Every single person asked where Sesshomaru was, and every time a sad smile came onto Kagome's face as she explained that he was on a business trip. They looked at the pictures that Kagome had taken, of Sesshomaru and all of her friends.

Finally, it was time for speeches, everyone was seated for dinner and Kagome was pulled up onto the stage. She walked to the microphone and started to speak.

"Hello and thank you so much for coming. You have no idea what this means to me, to have all of this support and love for my art. Many of you here tonight have asked what my inspiration is. And I'd have to say Love. Love is the driving force behind all of my work, paintings and photography. I photograph the beauty of love and what I think love is made of. Maybe it is more obvious than others what I mean," Kagome said, gesturing to the photographs of Sesshomaru.

A chuckle came from the side of the stage. Kagome looked over and there he was, Sesshomaru, dressed in a suit, standing at the side of the stage. Kagome reacted, she ran towards him and he caught her, and held her tight. They pulled apart and he kissed her, hard. Then they hugged again.

"I missed you so much." Kagome whispered into his chest.

"I missed you more koi." He whispered back, he could feel a slight bump underneath Kagome's dress, something he'd have to ask her about later. They broke apart and Sesshomaru walked up to the microphone, hand in hand with Kagome. He got on one knee and started to speak.

"Kagome. I have loved you since I first laid my eyes on you. I know that I will never stop loving you. I want to always be by your side as you soar through the world. You are my world. You are every single star in my sky and the wings that help me be more like you. You are wild and wonderful and it would be my honor to stay by your side in every adventure that you dive wholeheartedly into. Will you marry me?"

Kagome nodded and everyone cheered. Sesshomaru slipped a diamond ring onto her left ring finger. Sesshomaru stood up and kissed her. Then he spoke into the microphone, "Thank you everyone for supporting her. I hope you all see the true devotion she puts into her art."

Everyone cheered as Kagome and Sesshomaru walked offstage to their table. An extra place setting next to Kagome had been set and dinner was being served. Kagome was playing with her ring as she talked with Sango, Miroku, Inuyasha, Kikyo, Kouga, Ayame, Jakotsu, and Bankotsu. People kept coming up and congratulating them. Kagome gave them all a warm smile, and Sesshomaru smiled and kissed her head.

Finally the dinner was over. Sesshomaru walked with Kagome to the car and held open the passenger door. They drove for a few minutes before Kagome started to speak.

"Sessh?"

"Yes my koi?"

"What would you say if I told you that I was going to have a baby?"

"Well I'd ask if you were serious." Sesshomaru said, stopping at the red light, "Are you?"

"Well…..It's not just one baby….."

"Sesshomaru pulled into the driveway of their home, "Kagome, are you telling me that you're pregnant?"

Kagome looked at Sesshomaru, put one hand on her growing belly and nodded.

Sesshomaru was speechless. He couldn't believe it. This was the best day of his life. Kagome is pregnant with his child. Children? And she is marrying him.

"How many….?" He asked quietly

"Twins. I'm going next week to find out genders."

Sesshomaru unbuckled his seatbelt and Kagome's. He pulled her into his arms and held her.

"Are you happy?" She asked.

"I've never been happier. I love you so much Kagome."

"I love you too Sesshomaru."

They pulled apart and walked inside. Kagome changed into one of Sesshomaru's t-shirts while Sesshomaru took a shower. He came out of the bathroom to see Kagome laying on the bed, fast asleep. He smiled and went to his desk. He pulled out a piece of paper and started to write.

Dear Babies,

You are not born yet, in fact, you are both very small. But I know that I love you both. So much. And mommy loves you. You are already so precious to me. Just know that I would do anything for you.

If one of you or both of you are girls, I have a message:

Baby girl, you will be a daddy's girl. I will spoil you rotten and you will be as beautiful and as perfect as your mother.

And if one or both of you are boys, I have something to say:

Son, I will teach you all you need to know about being a gentleman. I will help you understand the mysteries of the universe just like I'll help both of you understand how life can be.

I love you both so much, my dreams are coming true with the both of you.

Sesshomaru folded the letter and put it in an envelope. He put it in his desk drawer and got up. He laid in his bed, next to his pregnant fiancée and fell asleep, thinking about how great it is to be home.
