Chapter One: Beck's Beginning.
"I thought you'd prefer death... to this."
"BODHI!"
Beck's eyes flashed open.
Great, another nightmare. Another memory of the past. Another Reminder as to the reason he chose to join Clu's military.
The virus, the users, the Isos. Everything had gone to hell on the Grid.
Clu had revealed to the public what Flynn had done, using memories off of his own disk and the disks of the loyal monitors so the truth would be known to all.
The creator had given up on them, the Basics. And had instead thrown himself in with the Isos, unnatural creations that had manifested themselves. No user had created them, they had no base functions, they came from nothing. And instead of being afraid or cautious, Flynn greeted them openly. Called them miracles. True Digital Life.
Clu was forgotten, they, the programs of the grid, Flynn's digital children, were forgotten. Flynn let the Isos do what they wanted, he didn't guide them or tell them off it they made mistakes. No, they were special. They could choose their own destinies. He viewed them as equals.
Clu was rightfully shocked.
And what did Tron do? The supposed Champion of the Grid, He sided with Flynn. He went against the system he had sworn to protect and followed Flynn via blind faith.
And when a virus broke out, it's origins that of an Iso. Flynn didn't want to believe it. In fact he continued with his plans of letting an Iso Elder, Radia, become Co-Administrator of the grid!
Obviously confused and hurt. Clu had rightfully confronted his creator.
And there and then, Flynn had unfortunately shown his true colours.
"Am I still to create the perfect system?"
"Yeah.."
Everything Clu had worked for, everything he had done with his fellow basics, had been for nothing. Flynn hadn't noticed, and he hadn't cared.
He had been corrupted by the Isos, blinded by his fascination of the unknown that he couldn't see what was right in front or him. Imperfection, threats to their way of life.
And so Clu and the programs who agreed with him had taken matters into their own hands.
Freeing the Grid from Flynn, Tron and the Isos.
Some called it genocide.
Beck called it justice.
He had been there, in Tron city when Abraxas first appeared. His best friend, Bodhi was even turned into a viral carrier right before his very eyes.
Abraxas had claimed the lives and functions of many programs, and he had even tried to corrupt Clu.
Thankfully the new System Monitor, Anon, had gotten the virus's attention so Clu could escape.
But as the Admin was being escorted away, a group of viral carriers had ambushed him, killing his guards before turning to face him.
Beck in a split second decision, had then rushed in and saved Clu from the corrupted programs, being forced to Derezz them all, including Bodhi.
Clu was grateful and impressed.
He saw Beck's grief and promised him vengeance, telling the young program to find him later on in the day.

"I should have seen it coming. Flynn turning on us, letting a virus reek havoc. It's only a matter of time before the other isos either become infected themselves or turn into other problems. This happened because Flynn let them do as they please and have no supervision!" An average height, lean security program with red circuits exclaimed, slamming his fist against the wall.
Clu said nothing, his arms crossed as he stared out of his office window and into the outer areas of Tron city.
Another Security Program, this one shorter and feminine with blue circuits walked up and put her hand on the other's shoulder. "You can't blame yourself Dyson, Tron should have seen it coming, in fact he should have done something! Not turn a blind eye!"
"No Klax, if anyone is to blame its me. I should have insisted on keeping an eye on things, Flynn may have been our creator, but he isn't all knowing or all powerful. This is my fault, this is on me." Clu insisted with a sigh.
His two companions turned at that, eyes wide. "Sir no-"
Clu raised a hand. "As Admin, my responsibility is to lead, protect and secure the Grid and it's people. I failed in that aspect. Which is why there must now be a change."
The program got up from his chair and looked at his two friends. "A system purge."
"You want us to kill them?"
"One Iso became a virus and caused untold destruction. One. If they all turn, we won't be able to stop it and everyone and everything on the Grid will die. I cannot and will not let that happen. For the sake of our friends, our people and our home. The Isos must be cleansed."
Dyson nodded. "If you're sure, then okay. But we'll need an army, programs willing to learn how to fight and protect our home. We can't let it leak that our purpose now is to destroy the Isos, not with public support being so low."
Clu smirked at that. "Luckily I have a solution to that. It's called 'repurposing'."
"Repurposing, what's that?"
"Another way of recruiting programs into our military, except without them volunteering. We simply adjust their code slightly... making them loyal to us and only us."
"But that's... that's barbaric!" Klax exclaimed.
Clu raised an eyebrow. "It's perfectly safe and painless. Each program's memories, skills and base functions will remain intact. But they will fight for us, and nothing will stop them from completing their objectives."
"I-I don't know what to think." Klax muttered, finding this all a little too much.
Clu turned to look at Dyson. "I believe a... demonstration is in order. Dyson, if you would please show Klax to the booth at our facility."
Dyson nodded. "Of course sir, right away."
Klax followed dyson out of the room.
Once he was gone, a bald pale program walked into the room. "Sir, a 'Beck' is here to see you. He says you are expecting him?"
Clu smiled. "Ah yes, send him in."
(A few seconds later)
"Beck, good to see you. How are you holding up?" Clu asked.
The younger program shrugged. "Not well to be honest, I still can't believe this is happening.. . That my best friend is gone."
Clu nodded. "Bodhi will be remembered, all programs who die to this menace will not be forgotten. I promise you that."
"You promised me something else, vengeance. But how? I'm just an engineering program, sure I've got basic self defence training. But I'm nothing special." Beck whispered.
Clu smirked. "What if I told you I can change that. I know a few security and military programs who would be willing to train you, we can rise above our programming Beck. We can be more than what we were made to do. So, what do you say?"
The Admin held out his hand.
Beck stared at it before clasping it with his own, determination on his face.
"Trust me Beck, we are going to do some great things together. Great things. You will have your revenge and then, well, we'll see what the future holds." Clu said with a smirk.

After the purge, Beck rose through the ranks and became one of Clu's top operatives. His skill equal to that of Dyson's and even Rinzler.
Rinzler had even took Beck on as a protégé. Teaching him everything he knew.
The two often went on missions together, whether to hunt down rogue programs, hiding isos or even clues to Flynn's location.
He and Beck had even created a unique visual language based on helmet tilts and hand movements.
Beck was also the only one besides Clu and Dyson that knew Rinzler's true identity.
During one particular nasty skirmish against an Iso rebellion, Beck met two like minded programs and became fast friends with them, Zed and Mara.
They were a trio that worked well together. Completing assignments quickly and efficiently.
And now, they had a new mission.
Rinzler had gone rogue, somehow bypassing his repurposing. He killed several guards and even a governing program before going on the run.
The latest lead led to Argon.
Coincidentally, General Tesler's forces had recently taken possession of the city.
Clu decided it would be an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, or so the user saying went.
Beck and his team would search for Tron while also testing Tesler and his forces.
"Looks like we're renegades now." Zed joked as the Recogniser they were on touched down on the landing pad.
"Remember, helmets on at all times and voice scramblers active unless we're undercover. Tell no one our true allegiance until Clu orders us to reveal ourselves." Beck reminded him, letting his helmet fold over his head.
"Can we at least have some fun on the side?" Mara asked, her helmet also enclosing her head.
"Business before pleasure Mara." Zed replied.
"I didn't hear a no from our leader!~"
Beck rolled his eyes under his helmet. "Stow it guys, we have a job to do. First we meet with General Tesler, then we go undercover as normal mechanic programs."
"Beck, honey, there is nothing normal about us." Mara joked, placing a hand on her hip.
Zed chortled, making Beck smirk. "Okay, okay, calm down. Don't want our fellow loyalists to think we're overcharged."
Mara and Zed nodded, dusting their armours off before turning professional.
Deciding that they were now presentable, Beck hit the icon that lowered the Recogniser's bridge to the ground, allowing them to step out.
Eight programs awaited them. Six of which were Sentries, who were stood in formation.
The remaining two stood at the edge of the landing platform, arms behind their backs. One a tall, ugly and smug looking male. The other a gorgeous, thin female.
"Alcon, Beta and Widow I presume?" The male greeted, smile wide and crooked. This was Pavel, a boot licker, coward and schemer.
His file was short and had nothing of note, it was a wonder why General Tesler even had him on his staff at all.
Beck grimaced behind his helmet. 'yikes, this guy get squished by a light tank the day he was razzed?' he thought before replying with: "Affirmative."
"General Tesler is expecting you." The female, Paige, told the trio.
She on the other hand had a lengthy file, with quite a lot of achievements noted. She was... interesting.
Beck merely nodded, gesturing for them to lead the way.
