Here we go! It's time for the start of my new story, Fighting Destiny. I am very excited to start writing this one. This story has been stuck in my head for months, so I'm glad I can finally write it down. BTW Sam and the others have not phased yet and Bella just moved back to Forks. As you guys know, I do not own Twilight. But I do own my OC's. I hope you guys enjoy it. Here's chapter 1 of Fighting Destiny :)
Chapter 1: Back Home
Melody's P.O.V
I wasn't ready to go back, not after what happened. It had barely been 2 weeks since the accident. The accident were I lost my dad forever. They say I was lucky; considering I was in the car with him. I broke my leg and got a minor concussion, but other then that I was fine. I am fine... at least I try to pretend I'm fine. I don't think mom is convinced, but she hasn't been bugging me. Mom insisted we go back home as soon as I was out of hospital, so that's how I ended up sitting in the back of mom's old Lexus.
"Ten more minutes Melody." My mom's soft voice trails from the front of the car.
I'm not sure how I feel about going back just yet, considering we were gone 2 weeks longer then we planned. It was meant to be a month long trip to Oregon, but it ended up been 2 weeks longer, because I was stuck in hospital. I was glad to leave, I hate hospitals. There's something unnerving about them. Mom's been a total wreck since the accident, she's been trying to hide it, but I can see the sadness and grief in her eyes. As for me, I've been antisocial and snappy since I woke up the day after the crash.
Looking back out of my window, I see the 'Welcome to La Push' sign through the heavy sheets of rain. Sighing, I lay my forehead against the cold glass of my window. I wonder what my friends will think. I know they're probably worried considering that I was in a car crash. Embry will most likely be the most concerned. Embry is my cousin on my dad's side, but he has always treated me like a sister. We both don't have siblings, so its nice to have an older brother figure in my life.
I feel the car slow down and lift my head to look back out of the window. The rain is still falling heavily, but I'm still able to make out the small 1 story, light blue painted house. Home. Grabbing my crutches, I open the door and step my good leg outside. Mom quickly moves to my side and holds an umbrella above the door as I get out. My left leg is still in a cast, but has been healing fairly quickly. Grabbing under my arm to help support me, we walk towards the house. It has a small front porch with a wooding porch swing. There are flower boxes under the two windows on either side of the door. I decide not to protest as she helps me walk up the slippery steps towards the door. All of our stuff is still in the car, but I know mom wouldn't want me to go back out to help haul it all in. No matter how much I insist that I'm fine. She puts the key into the lock and opens up the house. I lightly pull my arm away from hers and with the help of my crutches, walk into the house. Mom hands me the key, before disappearing back outside to grab the things from the car.
Flicking the lights on, I'm reminded of how much I love this house. When you walk in you enter a small entryway, there's a coat hanger and a small cubby on the floor where you can put your shoes. The walls are a off white color with wooden accents and the floors are made of spruce wood. The whole floor plan is open except for the bathroom and bedrooms. The living room is connected to the entryway, small dining room and the hallway to the bathroom and the bedrooms. The kitchen is just off of our small dining room. We have a coffee table in the middle of the living room, a bookshelf, two forest green couches and a soft beige carpet. The dining room can comfortably fit four to five people, it's not very convenient for meet ups. We do have a few extra stools that we can squeeze in, from the kitchen. The kitchen is the biggest part of our small house, it has sunny yellow cabinets and a island in the middle of it. The countertops are a black marble and we have four white stools around the island. There's a stovetop and oven combo, a fridge, sink and dishwasher. After walking around the house, I hobble over to hallway that leads to our shared bathroom and the two bedrooms in the house.
Walking past the bathroom and my paren... I mean mom's room. I can't believe I just admitted that to myself. Shrugging it off, I go over to my room. It's painted a soft sea foam green color, with a beige carpeted floor. My queen sized bed is in the middle of the room, with a bedside table next to it. There are two windows on either side of the bed. There's a clock on the bedside table next to where I keep my phone charger. I have fairy lights hung around the room. There a desk against the wall to the right of my bed. Next to the desk there a sheet that separates my closet from my room. My closet is small, but fits enought clothers in it. To the left of the bed there's a reading corner. With a mushroom themed lamp, a wooding stump as a coffee table and a big light yellow bean bag. I have bookshelves lining the walls around the reading corner.
Walking back over to the living room, I see mom hualing the last of our stuff in.
"Hey mom, I'm going to go bring my stuff to my room." She nodds, as I grab my gray suitcase and hobble back over to my room. Laying my crutches against the wall next to the door, I walk over to my bed. I don't need the crutches in the house, I'm just not allowed to walk around too much. Pushing my suitcase over towards my desk, I collapse on my bed. It wasn't a physically hard day, just a mentally hard one. It's gonna be hard to adjust. Mom is having me go back to school tomorrow, since I already missed two extra weeks then we planned. I've never had much trouble with grades, but that doesn't mean I enjoy school. Looking over at the clock it reads, 9:34PM. Sighing, I don't even bother to change out of my clothes, as I fall into an uneasy sleep.

"Dad, does mom know where we're going?" I ask, turning to face him. It's already past 11PM, but dad insisted on going out to grab something. A surprise for mom he said. As we stop at a light he turn his russet skinned face towards me smiling. His dark brown eyes twinkling with excitement.
"Of course not! I already said it was a surpise." He grins, before turning his attention back towards the traffic light. I shrug as he continues driving.
Then in a split second I see a flash of white, before a loud sound erupts through the air, the car flipping over. I scream as I feel the impact of something hit the car. My head whacking the back of my seat so hard that my vision blurs. A million things going through my head. Before I feel a hard freezing cold thing wrap around my leg, crushing it. I hold in another scream, as my the bones in my leg shatter. Before I'm pulled out of the car by my leg, still feeling the pain radiating from it. My vision moves back into focus and I see an extremely pale hand gripping my leg. Mind still racing at a million miles an hour I try to see where dad went. He's laying on the road pavement, a person standing over him... biting into his neck! His terror filled shriek only lasts a few seconds, before he stops moving and lies still.
"I could kill you now, but I have a feeling that destiny has other plans for you." I turn back towards the other extreme pale person, who's grinning at me.
"See you soon." Before they both disappeared into the night...
I shot up in bed, drenched in cold sweat. Just a dream, just a dream. But... was it? My memory of that night is so foggy, that I'm not even sure what happened. Knowing I definitely won't be able to fall back asleep, I shift on my bed. The sun is barely pecking over the tree tops as I look out of my window. Sitting up on my bed, I put the foot that is still on in cast down on the floor, before standing up. Hobbling over to my closet, I walk throught the sheet that separates my small closet from my room and pick out an outfit. I settle on navy blue jeans and a white hoodie that reads 'Would rather be reading' drawn onto the cover of a book, I finish my outfit, by pulling on a pair of black fluffy socks. I'm not particularly fashionable, but I do enjoy putting together simple outfits.
Mom is not up yet, so I grab my crutches and walk out of my room, heading towards the kitchen. Mentally preparing myself for going back to school. I'm not ready yet, but I don't have a choice. Better get used to that.
