To say that the new couple's return to Herta's office was well received would be a major understatement.
Herta and Arlan were finally relieved at the long-time dream now a reality. The Astral Express had given their congratulations as funny and awkward as it was. Acheron, to Relon's surprise, had shown appreciation at the act he followed through with. Silver Wolf and March were easily the second happiest behind Asta herself, gushing over their new futures together. All the while Relon just looked on with a smile, content at the happy turn of events.
Deep down, a part of him knew that there would be rough patches but it would be through those that this new family of theirs would become something more. Something amazing.
As things settled back down, time passed with more work being done. Despite his and Arlan's protests, Asta returned to tending to the station alongside Herta. With the Simulated Universe checked out and most of the more dire work dealt with, both Relon's group and the Astral Express crew's time about the Space Station had come to a close.
Watching both Caelus and Stelle be initiated into the Astral Express Crew was cool and all, but something about the way Stelle glanced hesitantly towards him and Silver Wolf made something tug at the back of his head. Last time he checked, Nanook wasn't one for messing with him.
Still, she accepted Himeko's offer and just like that, the Astral Express' member count went from five to seven. At the same time Relon noted their own family's count.
Himself, Silver Wolf, March, Acheron, Tear, and now Asta. An even six. For now. He had personally given the offer to Arlan but his favorite dark-skin had passed for the time being. With everything going on, he wanted to delve on that at a later point when the space station and Relon's own time with Asta had settled more. It was understandable, very well so, but the offer still stood waiting for him.
After all, Relon truthfully knew there wouldn't be many guys in their new family. Unfortunately. His luck with women was something he was now looking back on and he could see Silver Wolf's decision. Not that he wouldn't technically complain.
He had Silver Wolf and March, now Asta. He had permission to date another so there would likely be more. Whether deep down he was beginning to come around to the idea or the faithfulness he still held onto worried, he could only take it one step at a time.
With the Astral Express bidding their farewell, March commenting she'll see them at the house soon, that just left Relon and his family.
"So you're heading back to Tavyet, are you?" Herta spoke up.
"Yeah. After everything, definitely need to at the very least drop Tear off," he chuckled, gazing up at the majestic beast.
"Very least? You have other plans still?" Asta, who was adorably clinging to his arm, asked.
"Just recruitment for our family. There's a few immediate names that I'm sure will join so I want to get them out the way sooner rather than later."
"Oh?" Silver Wolf arched a brow. "I have my list-"
"We are not using that," he cut off with a smile. "Your 'list' is probably full of people who will just laze around when I'm not out and about."
About to refute, Silver Wolf huffs.
"Oof," Arlan sounded out.
"Fine, then who do you have in mind?" He smiled at the question, looking to Acheron.
"Hey, Acheron, how's Rappa been?" At the mention, a facepalm from Silver Wolf resounded.
"She has been well. As a fellow Galaxy Ranger and companion, her skills and prowess has assisted me on countless missions."
"You have got to be kidding me. And Acheron, what did I say before? Stop being so uppity. Relax!"
"Apologies, milady." Another facepalm and a hardy batch of laughter.
Relon caught the sly smile Acheron held as Silver Wolf groaned. It just made him laugh all the harder.
"Hey, you made the proposal," he spoke, wiping a tear from his eye. "Now you have to just accept it," he smiled for the girl to groan.
"Damn it, how did I forget the other pink nuisance?" She growled inwardly.
"Probably because March was all you were thinking about. Until Asta came back along," he grinned, bumping his hip against said girl who giggled.
"Ugh, goodbye my peaceful gamer days," Silver Wolf murmured, solemnly.
"Oh, don't be so dramatic. You secretly love the idea," Herta scoffed. "Anywho, work has to be done and I've lost enough time."
"Next time we come through, let's chat a bit," Relon called out. "With the real you!" Stopping on a damn to glance at the smiling male, Herta could only huff flicking her hair before departing.
"It amazes me how unique your relationship with Madam Herta is," Asta noted, relinquishing her hold on Relon to stand next to Arlan.
"Like I said, her real self is just more nice to speak and talk to. Simple as that."
"Still, I'm curious, what's so bad about this Rappa person?" Arlan wondered.
"Her way of speech," Acheron blurted out in stoic fashion.
"Probably how she tackles things," Relon hummed aloud.
"Literally everything," Silver Wolf groaned.
"She's another Galaxy Ranger Eina and I met after we lost Planet Uni. I saved her from a lab, chilled with us for a while, got hooked on this anime called Naruto, and trained to become a Galaxy Ranger. Her whole 'persona' revolves around herself acting as though she's a self-insert character," Relon explained.
"A chuunibyou or chuuni for short," Silver Wolf blandly stated. "It's because of her that we even got connections with the Galaxy Rangers. It's how we got Acheron to be a ranger as well," Silver Wolf added with a point of her thumb at said swordswoman.
"Sounds like a lot," Arlan blinked, not knowing how to proceed.
"I take it your patience with communicating is the issue," Asta surmised in another giggle.
"No, it's much worse!" Silver Wolf exclaimed, rushing to grasp Asta's hands to her slight surprise. "She's athletic, she has a smokin' hot bod- respectably," she adds, cutting back to Relon momentarily. "The girl knows how to fight, has boundless energy, more than him I might add! She wears her hair in a ponytail, something Relon is a sucker for!"
"Hey!"
"She copied my own outfit so much that it's like I'm looking in a mirror except she has boobs!"
"I feel like I shouldn't be here…" Arlan mumbled.
"Eina, you have boobs. You just wear a compression bra to make it look like you don't have any," Relon deadpanned.
"And the worst part…! The freaking most annoying thing of all…!" She hunched down, holding her head in make-believe agony.
"Is… what exactly?" Asta sweatdropped.
"I CAN UNDERSTAND EVERY WORD SHE SAYS! DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO IGNORE SOMEONE ONLY TO UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT THEY'RE RAMBLING ABOUT?!"
"After some time, it becomes quite an easy way of speech to grasp," Acheron noted.
"Acheron's right. It's actually kinda fun at times to talk like her," Relon agreed.
"Because you aren't affected by the headache that girl brings upon us! Don't you love me and Asta?!"
About to answer, his face heated up at the implication. His wide-eyes darted to Asta who was blushing meekly, fidgeting in place.
"E-Eina…" He attempted to reason. "Let's not raise huge questions so soon, please? Besides, you already know the answer."
"Hmpf. I rest my case then."
"What even was your case?" Arlan asked, still dumbfounded by everything that just occurred.
"Who knows," Relon intervened before Silver Wolf could go on another tangent. "Yet you're not saying no to her being a member," he smiled smugly watching his lover twitch an eye in irritation.
"Grah, Acheron, help me out!"
"Milady, I apologize but I must side with My Lord. Rappa is an invaluable member of the Rangers as well as a dear friend."
"Welp, that's two votes to your one," He grinned, eyeing a now calmed down Asta.
"Ahem, I don't see a problem. We've already agreed for Relon to claim anyone else whether as a member of your- our family," she corrected, regaining her flushed face from the smiling faces around. "Or romantically as long as he makes time for us all so I don't see the harm. Besides," she began, filled with more confidence once more. "If this Rappa is capable of fighting like Relon and Acheron, then she could be someone else to take care of Relon while he's in the field."
Relon was touched.
His newest girlfriend, arguably lover, trusted him as did Silver Wolf and March. Not only did they have faith in his recruitment skills but his loyalty. He had no idea or intentions to ruin such great relationships and he certainly didn't expect to start now. Though all three, especially Silver Wolf, allowing him to basically get a harem was still something he had to get used to. Not that he was particularly complaining.
"Thanks, Asta. You too, Eina."
"Of course! I'll support you however I can," she smiled, one filled with endearment. "Whether by your side or here at the Space Station."
"Someone has to make sure you don't do anything rash," Silver Wolf added, poking his chest to smile. "Doing it by myself all these years has gotten harder after all."
"Sorry to say but it may get harder," he smiled, holding her to receive a joking eye roll.
"Joy. Alright, let's get this show back on the road," she said, stretching to walk over before smushing Asta into a hug causing the girl to laugh. "You better come by soon to set up your room. New rule in the Lucinance household deems all new members must have a sleepover."
"Haha, I will. Once things have calmed down, I'll find time. I promise, Eina."
"You better or we'll come steal you."
"She means it," Relon smiled, enveloping her in a hug to lean in, pecking her lips.
"Curious, whose lips do you like more? Mine, March's, or Asta's?" Silver Wolf smirked for Relon to widen his eyes before sending a deadpanned blush her way.
"Let's go," he sighed, both Space Station workers chuckling at the commotion. "See you guys on the flip side. Oh yeah, Asta, hold out your hands?"
"Like this?"
Exuding a careful breath, Relon's hands closed in on the other as a faint light manifested. More and more, its form grew taking on the shape of a key. Then at once, it dropped into her palms shimmering an ethereal gold.
"Phew, glad I've gotten better at making those,"
"Is this one of your keys?" Arlan wondered as Asta lifted it high against the cosmos.
"Yeah. Though it won't disappear after a single use. It's the same kind March keeps whenever she wants to visit. Just hold the key, think of where you want to go, throw it at a door, and there you go. Simple as that. You've been to our place before so it should work without issues."
"Relon…" Asta awed, glancing back at him. "Are you sure it's fine for me to have this?"
"Of course, you're family now. Not to mention we're, well, you know?" He chuckled.
"An item?"
"Bound by the red rope of love?"
"Future husband and wife?"
He could only blink at Silver Wolf and Acheron for their two cents before placing a hand on Arlan.
"Give me strength."
"Sending all the energy I can." Both boys dapped the other up before stepping back.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Silver Wolf mumbled, cocking a raised brow.
"Oh nothing~," he hummed, walking backwards towards Acheron's ship. "Asta, Arlan, see you around."
"Take care, everyone."
"Relon, Eina, Acheron, thank you again. For everything."
"Thanks are not needed, Miss Asta," Acheron dismissed. "We help where help is needed."
"Truuuuuuuuuuuue that!" Relon hollers.
"Asta, what are we to do with that doofus?"
"Haha, love him I suppose? Not much else, is there?"
"Unfortunately," Silver Wolf smiles, departing alongside Acheron after the male.
Waving their farewells as the ship's engine brimmed to life and Tear's shimmering wings flapped, Asta and Arlan could only watch as their friends and newly established family became distant figures amongst the stars.
"Finally, we're going home," Silver Wolf sighed, taking her seat atop Relon's lap to his amusement.
"It shall be a little bit before we arrive," Acheron spoke from the cockpit. "Are there any stops either of you wish to make?"
"I'm curious, where's Rappa at?"
"Seriously?" Silver Wolf pouted. "You want her that bad?"
"I'm just curious is all. Jealous, Ms. I-wanted-to-start-a-family-without-specifying-any-rules?" He raised his brows in a challenging manner.
"Hey, you better not forget about me just because- Mmf!" Cut off by his lips taking hers, her irate mood quickly mellows into a hum as she returns the silent but heartfelt kiss.
Ending with a pop, he gives her a knowing look.
"Asta made you cocky."
"Haha, I'm just appeasing my woman the only way I know how. Don't worry, I meant what I said. I'll make time for everyone. But don't forget Ms. Second Head, the same goes for you. This is our family. Meaning we both gotta make sure our family is well taken care of, including Acheron."
"Tell me something I don't know," she scoffed. "Fine, you're off the hook for now."
"My Lord, Milady, I've located Rappa's vessel."
Perking their heads at the duo's faithful friend, Relon nudged the girl who hopped off as they approached the cockpit.
"Where is she?"
Despite the casual tone Silver Wolf spoke with, immediately her eyes widened before arguably the loudest groan from her yet resounded.
"UUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Relon personally knew of only one place that could make his forever love complain that hard. True enough, the moment his eyes landed on the map, he couldn't help but mentally chuckle. To think that location would be on their way home too, oh how Silver Wolf would had them all for their next decision.
"You are so back in the dog house!"
"Welp," he sighed in a chuckle. "Looks like we'll be seeing Robin, Sparkle, Siobhan, and Sunday sooner than expected. Acheron, next stop, Penacony!"
