Harry was sitting at the dining table waiting for the rest of his family as Winky, their house-elf was putting breakfast on the table. He was reading the latest letter from Headmistress McGonagall. It read:
Dear Harry,
This letter may come to you as a shock, but I ask to visit your home tomorrow (today) at 17:00 for a personal family reason. As we were going through the letters separating the muggle-raised versus the magical raised, we came across a very interesting name. If this is agreeable, please respond and I shall see you then. If this is not possible, please respond with a more appropriate time.
Sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Headmistress
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Harry groaned. Dudley had reached out to him recently concerning his daughter, Iris, and possibly the other girls. He hadn't put the strange occurrences together until recently that had been happening around his children until recently, when someone mentioned that it happened just like magic.
Ginny came in the room then. She said, "What you got there, Harry?"
Harry said, "Minerva sent me an owl. She wants to come by to discuss something about family. Seeing as it's the summer holidays, I highly doubt its something to do with one of our children. We both know that Lily is magical."
Ginny said, "So its true then. Dudley's daughter is going to be going to Hogwarts with Lily."
Harry said, "Seems so. Winky, can you get me parchment and quill so I can respond to Minerva's letter?"
"Yes, sir."
Winky was bonded to the family, despite Hermione's protests. That's what she wanted. It helped them out and Winky got a family to look after again. She did get a stipend that she could use as she wished for decent clothes.
That afternoon, a knock came at the door. Winky soon brought in Professor McGonagall. Harry smiled and hugged her. He said, "Professor, it is a pleasure to see you as always."
Minerva said, "Harry, Ginny, you have a lovely home."
Ginny said, "Thank you, professor. You say that everytime you come over. I don't know if I could've handled living at Potter Manor."
Minerva said, "I understand that. Now the reason why I've asked for this visit. Harry, how familiar are you with your cousin and his family?"
Harry said, "I had a feeling that was what this was about. We visit Dudley and Constance about twice a year. Once during the summer and then during the holidays. Try to do it when Petunia and Vernon are not there as they still do not like me."
Minerva pursed her lips and Ginny frowned. Minerva said, "Well, last night as I said in my letter, Filius and I were going through the letters and came across one to a one Iris June Dursley."
Harry said, "And you want me to go with you to make the introduction smoother?"
Minerva said, "I was actually wondering if you would do it yourself. As you know that we are overwhelmed with the first-years every year starting with the year Victoire Weasley came to Hogwarts."
Harry chuckled at that. Ever since the war ended, Magical Britain seemed to have had a baby boom. Those who survived had at least 2 children with a few of the purebloods sticking to one. This resulting in almost the triple the size of classes at Hogwarts.
Ginny said, "I don't see why Harry can't do this. We can arrange it with Dudley and Connie that it would be our summer visit as we have yet to go this summer, and use that time to take the children to get most of their own Hogwarts supplies."
Minerva said, "And by the way, here are James, Albus, and Lily's letters. I can't wait to see where she is sorted. Also here is Iris' letter. Please let me know what they decide."
Everyone chuckled. Harry said, "I'm sure she will be attending even if I have to pay her way myself. Dudley is more accepting of magic than my aunt and uncle are."
After Minerva left, Harry got up and went to the phone that they kept in case Dudley needed to get a hold of them for one reason or another. He dialed Dudley's number.
"Dudley Dursley speaking."
"Hey Big D. What's happening?"
"Been a long time since I heard that nickname, Harry. You calling to schedule our annual summer visiting?"
"About that Dudley. Is it okay if I pop into the backyard tonight? I need to talk to you and Connie about Iris."
"She's like you isn't she?"
"Minerva just confirmed it, Dud. Your not upset are you?"
"Nope. I'm just glad I can finally tell Connie. Its been killing me not being able to tell her about it all. She gets scared every time one of the children does something weird."
"What time works best for you?"
"We are free now, Harry. Connie is home and so are the children."
"I'll be there in ten minutes."
"See you then."
Ginny was listening in on Harry's end. She had his coat ready and wand for him. Ginny said, "Good luck, love."
"I was wondering if I should take Lily with me?"
Ginny said, "Not this time. Next Saturday would be best for us to be able to do it as a family to go to the alley to get the school supplies. Let me know when you get back if it works for them so that I can put it on our calendar. That kind of visit to the Alley will take all day. James and Albus both need new uniforms."
Harry nodded. Ten minutes later, Harry was knocking on the backdoor of Dudley and Connie's home.
"I've got it!" The backdoor opened and revealed Iris Dursley in her blonde hair glory. "Cousin Harry! Mum, dad, cousin Harry is here!"
Dudley came into view and said, "I knew he was coming, Iris. Do step aside so that he can come inside."
"Why did he come in the back way instead of the front way, daddy?"
Dudley looked to Harry. Harry said, "I came in a different way from my home. I'll explain in a minute."
"Okay!"
Connie came in the room and said, "Harry, its good to see you! Dudley said you wanted to talk to the both of us concerning Iris and her schooling?"
Harry said, "Is there somewhere we can talk in private?"
Dudley said, "The den would work best."
Harry knew that the den was really Dudley's mancave. He went in there to get away from the girls as he jokingly called his family. Dudley and his wife had three girls: Iris, Jasmine, and Ivy. He kept with the Evan's tradition of naming their girls after flowers and Connie loved the idea. Sometimes, Harry wondered if it was a good idea.
In the Den, Harry waited until Dudley and Connie sat down. Dudley looked to Harry. Harry said, "Dudley, why don't you start us off? You're the one who kind of initiated this."
Dudley glared at Harry. He said, "Thanks Harry or should I call you Lord Potter?" Connie's eyes widened. "Connie, dear, you know how the girls do these strange things like changing the color of their dresses, or even having a book float to them?"
Connie nodded. She looked to Harry.
Dudley said, "What would you say if I told you that it was magic?"
Connie went white. She said, "Your joking right?"
Harry pulled out his wand, conjured a glass and poured water with his wand into said glass. He then handed it to Connie. "Drink this. Trust me. That was just magic."
Connie said taking the glass, "And your saying that our girls can do this too?"
Harry said, "Iris definitely. I've got her letter in my pocket inviting her to our school that will teach her to control her magic. She will learn what I just did and so much more."
Connie said, "How come it isn't well known that magic exists?"
Harry laughed. He said, "Too many would be looking at us for the answers. Also, you remember the witch hunts?"
Connie said, "I remember them being mentioned, but..are you saying those were real?"
Harry said, "The people who were burned at the stake were not real witches and wizards, but yes. The few that were caught were able to come out alive."
Connie said, "Dudley, you knew about this?"
Dudley said, "Yes. You know that Harry and I grew up together. Harry's abilities is the reason why my parents do not like him. They were not kind to him. You think our children's bouts of accidental magic are weird, you ought to hear what Harry did!"
Harry said, "Me ending up on the school roof was partly your fault, Dudley."
Dudley looked down. He said, "Yeah, I'm not proud of that time of my life."
A knock came at the den door then. "Mommy, there are some weird looking people at the front door!"
Harry swore. He said, "Stay here. They probably here cause of my magic use."
Harry went out into the hall. Sure enough, ministry employees were at the front door. He said, "Iris, go in and see your mum and dad. They have something very special to tell you. Here, give this to your dad."
The letter said read:
Iris June Dursley
15 Wisteria Walk
Blue Bedroom
Little Winging, Surrey
"Oh wow. It even has my bedroom on it! Cool!"
Harry watched as Iris went into the den. He then turned to the two at the door. He sighed.
He opened the door and said, "Come in, Gentleman."
"Lord Potter, we didn't realize you lived here. We thought you lived…"
Harry said, "I'm visiting my cousin, Dudley Dursley and his family. Giving them the introduction on behalf of Hogwarts since they are family, Mr. Smith."
Zachariah glared at Harry. He said, "I'll write it down in the report. Next time, inform the ministry that you are doing this. This is a waste of time."
Samuel Trenton rolled his eyes. He said, "Apologies, Lord Potter. Enjoy your visit. I hope your cousin will enjoy her time at Hogwarts."
Harry said, "I'm sure she will."
After Zachariah and Samuel left, Harry went back into the den, where everyone was crowded around the Hogwarts letter including Jasmine and Ivy.
Iris said, "I can do magic! That's so cool."
Harry said, "I understand that myself, Iris. Ask your dad what your uncle Harry once did."
Dudley said, "He put himself on the school roof!"
Iris, Jasmine, and Ivy all looked at Harry. Harry said, "That was what they call accidental magic. Dudley and I were playing tag, and Dudley was it. I ran into an alley and he was close behind. Well unfortunately for me, it was a dead-end. Next thing I know, I was on the roof of the school."
Iris' eyes widened. She said, "Is that how you came here today, cousin Harry?"
Harry said, "Yes, Iris. But this time it was intentional. Its called apparition."
After that, they made arrangements to get together in London the next Saturday like Ginny suggested to get the children's school supplies and introduce the Dursley's the magical world.
The next Saturday, the Potter family were up and dressed in nice clothes. Harry was glad that most of the magical community moved away from robes after the war. Even Hogwarts didn't require it anymore as part of their uniform. They moved to the blazer uniform. Girls weren't even required to wear skirts anymore. They had their choice between pants or skirts. The blazer jacket would be black until the sorting ceremony, and then would change to their primary house color: Red for Gryffindor, Blue for Ravenclaw, Green for Slytherin, and Yellow for Hufflepuff. However, at this point, it had been decided that Lily wasn't going to Hogwarts. She was going to Ilvermorny in the States. They still had robes, but for formal occasions.
The Potters took the floo to the Leaky Cauldron, where Harry stepped outside into Muggle London to get Dudley and his family. Harry soon returned. Lily went over to Iris and hugged her. Ginny led the way, waving to Hannah Longbottom as they passed through. Hannah smiled at the Potters.
It did take the morning and a good part of the afternoon to get everyone their supplies.
They stopped at the new wand maker to get Iris her wand. "Lord Potter, welcome. Is it time to get Lily's wand?"
Lily shuffled her feet.
Harry said, "Not today. She is actually heading to Ilvermorny and will get her wand there."
The wandmaker said, "Of course! They do have a wonderful selection of wandmakers across the pond. Nothing like mine of course! So, what can I do for you all today."
Harry urged Iris forward. He said, "My young cousin here, Iris Dursley needs a wand. She will be joining Hogwarts this year."
"Of course! Now dearie, what hand is your dominant hand?"
"I'm a leftie sir."
Half hour later, Harry and co left the wandmaker and sighed in relief. Harry smiled remembering his own wand choosing.
