(A/N: All right, I have another idea for "Super Mario Odyssey"! But this time, Wario is going to be in the story! I know that you're all eager to see what Wario's gonna do, so I'll get this fanfic started for you guys to read!)

It was time for the annual Cooking Carnival in the Luncheon Kingdom. The event was usually lots of fun, but this year, things were not as happy as they usually were around this time. Several things were going wrong in the kingdom, and unless someone did something about them, they would only get worse.

First of all, these four rabbits who called themselves the Broodals had stolen a lot of the kingdom's famous Stupendous Stew as the main course for the big feast that would take place after Princess Peach's forced wedding to Bowser, the Koopa King.

Secondly, a giant bird known as the Cookatiel was flying around the pot of stew. The Volbonans were very afraid that if the bird saw the huge slab of meat that had yet to go into the stew, he was going to make off with it. They didn't dare think that the animal might just add it to the stew for them, because that was exactly what he did with the meat when he finally saw it.

And finally, Bowser himself was at the Cooking Carnival, checking out a bunch of yummy-looking desserts as he held his unhappy bride in one hand. Perhaps he was planning to pinch these treats for the feast, since the cake and stew were not enough.

(A/N: I know that Bowser and Peach didn't really stop there in the game, but they can do that in this fanfic.)

"Put me down, Bowser! I can walk by myself, you know!" Peach demanded the Koopa King, who was holding her much too tightly, knowing that she hated it.

"No way, Peach! I know that if I set you down, you'll just run away from me! I won't allow that to happen because I have worked too hard for too long to allow you to screw this up for me!" Bowser shouted at her, before looking over the delectable goodies once more, wondering which ones they should have at the wedding.

"Then maybe I'll just hold my breath and wait to die. Dying would be much better, because it means I won't have to be married to an insensitive jerk like you... I'll be with Mario again." Peach muttered under her breath. She had been very upset since Bowser made her watch him shoot down Mario and his ship back in the Cloud Kingdom.

Suddenly, Peach heard a familiar laugh from nearby. She managed to turn her head just enough to see that Wario was at the Cooking Carnival!

"Wario's here?! Well, he loves food, so I guess it should come as no surprise that he would come here so he can try new foods." Peach thought.

Then she suddenly realized that Wario was here, and not only did she know him, she knew that he hated Bowser as much as the rest of them did! And if he knew that Bowser was here...

"If I can get to Wario and tell him what's going on, maybe he'll be willing to help me escape from Bowser! Then I won't have to be married to a tyrant!" Peach thought, starting to feel excited. She wanted to run to the fat man right away, but Bowser wasn't about to let go of her for anything. How was she going to get to Wario and get his help? Then she had an idea that might work.

"Bowser..." Peach began, sounding a little nervous.

"What is it?" Bowser asked.

"Can you please put me down? I have to go and... powder my nose..." Peach replied.

Bowser knew what that phrase meant, and he asked her in an annoyed tone, "Why didn't you do that before we left the airship and came down here?!"

"I didn't have to when we left the ship, but now I do! You have to let me go and do it! Please?! I promise I'll come right back to you when I'm done!" Peach pleaded.

Bowser looked at the princess very carefully, wondering if she was telling him the truth. She was looking him in the eyes without blinking.

"Word of honor." Peach quickly added, hoping he would buy it and let go of her.

"Very well. I'll let you go. But if you don't return to me in five minutes, then I'm coming after you." Bowser warned her as he set her on her feet and slowly released her.

"I'll be a good girl and try to be quick about it." Peach said as she hurried into the nearby Crazy Cap so she could find a bathroom in there. Bowser watched her go into the store, then decided to go back to looking over the tasty treats until the five minutes were up.

Peach didn't go right to the bathroom like Tiara thought she would, and she asked the princess in a whisper, "Peach, what's going on? You told Bowser that you had to use the bathroom, and the restroom is right over there, but you're not making a beeline for it like I thought you would."

"Because I don't really have to go, Tiara. I only used that as an excuse to make him put me down." Peach said.

"I know that being carried around by him was rather embarrassing for you, but I guess there's more to it than just that, isn't there?" asked Tiara.

"Yes. I heard and caught sight of someone who I think might be able to help us escape from him." Peach said. She peeked outside and saw that Bowser wasn't looking that way like he had been. Then she turned her gaze to where Wario had been standing and saw, to her relief, that he was still around.

"Good, he's still here." Peach said to herself.

"He?" asked Tiara.

"Yes, that man over there in the purple overalls. His name is Wario, and I know him. I'll tell you more about him later if he agrees to help us out." Peach said, before she quietly exited the store and ran on tiptoe to Wario.

Wario, meanwhile, was looking around food containing his favorite ingredient, garlic, when he suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder. He quickly spun around and saw a lovely lady in white standing behind him. The sight of her made his eyes get big!

"A fallen angel!" was Wario's initial thought when he first saw the woman who was looking at him. But after looking at her more carefully, he realized that she had no wings, and her halo was really a bridal tiara. Then he realized that her long white gown was a wedding dress. And the face of the woman looked just like...

"Wait a minute! Princess Peach, is that you?!" Wario asked in surprise.

"Shhh! Not so loud!" Peach told him in a loud whisper, glancing at Bowser to make sure he didn't hear him. Luckily, his eyes were focused on a batch of delicious-looking cream puffs.

"Well, I'll be! It is you! But... what are you doing here?" Wario asked, whispering now, like Peach requested.

"I'll explain everything if you come with me!" Peach softly replied, motioning for him to follow her. They quickly went behind the Crazy Cap store, and Wario could only wonder what was going on. Why was Princess Peach here, and more importantly, why was she wearing a wedding dress?

"All right, Peach. Tell me what's going on. I wanna know." Wario said to the princess.

"Bowser kidnapped me and has plans to marry me, and he killed Mario so I can't be rescued from living in misery for the rest of my life!" Peach said really quickly.

"Whoa! Slow down, Peach! You were talking so fast, I didn't hear much of what you were saying." Wario said. He heard something about Bowser and Mario, but that was it.

"Okay. Bowser kidnapped me. He has marriage on his mind, and he's forcing me to marry him!" Peach started again, speaking a little slower so Wario could follow it.

"All right, I kind of figured that he kidnapped you again. But why would he think of marrying you?! He knows you hate him!" Wario said.

"That's why he's forcing me into doing this! Do you really think he cares about how I feel?" Peach asked.

Wario thought about it, then shook his head and said, "No, I don't think he ever cared about your feelings before."

"And to make sure that no one stands in his way of having me as his wife, he killed Mario!" Peach said, tears filling her eyes as she thought about Mario.

"He did what?!" Wario asked, his eyes big.

"He killed Mario right in front of me! And he didn't care that losing him broke my heart!" Peach replied, and she started crying right in front of him.

Wario didn't think that was true, because he saw Mario run by a few minutes ago, and he didn't appear to be dead. But before he could tell Peach about it, she looked up at him with tear-filled eyes and said, "I can't marry Bowser! I refuse to marry a murdering monster like him! That is why I must ask you, Wario: will you marry me, so I won't have to marry that big jerk known as Bowser?"

Tiara was shocked to hear Peach ask this question to a guy like Wario, and her eyes appeared as she was in her tiara form. She thought Wario was ugly, like Bowser, but at least he didn't look like a scary monster. However, she didn't say anything for fear of Bowser hearing.

For his part, Wario was very surprised that Peach was asking him the big question she would much rather ask Mario. Wario always knew that he wouldn't mind having a woman like Peach as his wife, and he almost took her up on the offer, but he stopped himself in time. He knew that even if he did marry her, she would never be able to love him the way she did Mario. He knew how special Mario was to her.

Wario realized that Peach came to him to ask for help, and she looked really upset about the dire situation she was in. And she didn't know that her beloved boyfriend was still alive, probably looking for her (Wario didn't get to ask, 'cause Mario was in a big hurry). He decided that perhaps it was time to do the right thing for once, and in this case, it was to tell Peach the truth and help her out.

"Peach, I have something to tell you..." Wario began.

"What is it?" Peach asked.

"I actually saw Mario run by a few minutes ago, and... well, he looked very much alive to me." Wario said.

"What did you say?" Peach asked. Had she heard that correctly? Mario was alive?!

"Mario is not dead. He's still alive." Wario said slowly and clearly so Peach could understand.

Tiara looked surprised at this announcement. If Mario was alive, then Peach's heart would be on the mend!

As soon as the words registered in Peach's brain, she was shocked. She blinked back her tears and said, "Please tell me that you're being truthful! You really saw Mario?!"

"I saw him." Wario said.

Peach was just about to ask Wario if he saw where Mario had gone, but before she could, they heard the sound of crates being smashed near where they were hiding, and they were being broken by a very angry...

"BOWSER!" Peach screamed in terror as she saw the Koopa King glaring daggers at her.

"You lied to me! I never should have let you go! Now you're going to pay the price!" Bowser roared at the princess.

Wario saw how truly frightened Peach looked, and that sight didn't please him one bit! He decided that he wasn't about to let Bowser get away with tormenting her anymore. It was time to do more of the right thing!

"Hold it right there, Bowser! If you want to reclaim the princess so badly, then you're going to have to go through me!" Wario declared as he stood in front of Peach, defending her for the first time in his life.

"Is that so? Well, listen good, fatty! I had no problems killing Mario, so I can tell that killing you is going to be a cakewalk!" Bowser replied, and he looked like he was gonna swat Wario like a fly, but before he could, Wario quickly ate a head of garlic, then belched right into Bowser's face. The garlic on his breath smelled so bad that Bowser began to choke. He couldn't breathe!

Then Wario grabbed Bowser, took him out to the main area of the plaza, and gave him a Piledriver. This move was done by spinning in the air and pounding his enemy headfirst into the ground.

"Oh yeah!" Wario said as he performed the move on Bowser. When it was over, Bowser's eyes were closed, and he wasn't moving. He was lying very still.

"Is he... dead?" Tiara asked nervously, still in her tiara form. Those were the first words she was able to say in Wario's presence, but Wario didn't hear her like Peach did.

Peach nervously knelt down next to Bowser and cautiously checked him for signs of life, with Tiara trembling in fright on her head, scared of being too close to the monster that treated her and Peach so badly. After a minute or two, the princess said, "I think he's just unconscious."

"Well, we don't want him going near you for a good while, so I know what else to do in order to make sure he stays away!" said Wario. He grabbed Bowser by the tail and used the Wild Swing-Ding to spin him 'round and 'round. After about 23 spins, he finally let go of Bowser and said, "Get out of here!" And he threw Bowser right into the pink lava that made up most of the kingdom.

Peach and Tiara watched with wide eyes as Bowser hit the pink lava. He sank into it, but then leaped out, now wide awake and in great pain! He landed in the lava again before leaping out again, yelling at the top of his lungs the whole time. It was actually very funny to watch, for Wario was laughing his head off!

Bowser was near a lot of little islands in the lava, but he ended up jumping over them or away from them! This went on for a little while before he finally came to rest on an island covered with salt. But this one was so far away from other sections of the land that he was going to need help getting out of this place. His body and tuxedo were burned up from falling in the lava multiple times.

And this is where I'll end Chapter 1. The story was getting pretty long, so I thought I'd divide it into 2 chapters! Stay tuned for Chapter 2!
