Chapter 22 Sasha
Aaron and I went to the market place to look for Sylvanna. When we got there, we ran into Donna.
"Afternoon, Aphmau and Aaron", Donna greeted. Then…she noticed the baby in Aphmau's arms, and began squealing like a madwoman. "Is that a baby?! I love babies! I want like twenty of them! Oh my goodness! He's so cute!"
Donna spent a good minute squealing over Levin. Since there was no sign of her stopping soon, Aaron put his hand on my shoulder and slowly pushed me away from here. We then spotted Sylvanna by Zoey's stall, and went up to her.
"Aphmau, there you are. And just in time, too", Sylvanna said. "Zoey has plenty of baby things that she said she would give to me. I also just finished making a bottle for Levin. Pass him over to me so I can feed him."
I passed Levin over to Sylvanna, and she began feeding him the bottle. As she fed him, she had a smile on her face. And she also looked a bit sad.
"Are you okay, Sylvanna", Aphmau asked in concern, which caused Sylvanna snap her head up at her.
"Oh, I'm fine, Aphmau", Sylvanna reassured her, before quickly changing the subject. "So, did you talk to Aaron and Garroth about Levin?"
"Garroth's going to send a message to Azura about a missing baby and ask her to spread the word around to see if we can find his family", Aaron revealed.
"I said I'd take care of Levin until then", Aphmau added. "But…I've never actually taken care of a baby before. Sylvanna, would you help me take care of Levin until we find his family?"
"I'd be more than happy to, Aphmau", Sylvanna replied, before looking down at Levin. "Don't you worry, you sweet boy. Auntie Sylvanna and Auntie Aphmau will take care of you until we find your family."
"I too would like to offer my help in taking care of this little one", Zoey added. "I've taken care of many babies in my long life. That's actually where I got all this baby stuff from."
"Your help will be very much appreciated, Zoey", Sylvanna replied. "After all, they say it takes a village to raise a child."
"Thanks for your help, everyone", Aaron said. Then, he leaned closer to Levin. "You don't worry, little guy. Aphmau and the others will take care of you until we find your family."
When Aaron was talking to Levin, he had the same soft expression on his face he usually had when he was with Jacob.
"Hey there, guys", Brenden greeted the group as he walked up to them. Then, he noticed the baby in Aphmau's arms. "Is that…a baby?"
After Brendon noticed Levin, I told him the story of how we found him.
"Poor little guy", Brendon said. "At least he has people to take care of him until we find his family. Hey, can I take him for a second? Girls love guys that are good with babies. Maybe I can use Levin to impress Sasha?"
"Who's Sasha", Aaron asked.
"She just arrived in Phoenix Drop this morning", Brendon revealed, before turning around and calling out to someone. "Hey Sasha! Come over here for a second! There's someone I wanna introduce you to!"
After Brendon called out her name, a girl wearing a black, hooded dress walked up to us. She pulled the hood down, revealing long, white hair and deep, violet eyes.
"Sasha, this is Lord Aphmau", Brendon introduced. "Lord Aphmau, this is Sasha."
"Nice to meet you", Sasha greeted Aphmau.
"It's very nice to meet you too, Sasha", Aphmau greeted her. "What brings you to Phoenix Drop?"
"I don't like staying in one place for too long, so I travel from village to village", Sasha revealed. "A little while ago, I heard about a village called Phoenix Drop, and thought I'd check it out. This place seems interesting, so I'd like to stick around for a bit. That okay with you, Lord Aphmau?"
"Of course", Aphmau replied. "We just built a bunch of small, single room cabins for visitors. Would you be okay staying in one?"
"That's fine by me", Sasha replied. "Thanks for the place to stay."
"It's not a problem. I hope you'll enjoy your stay in Phoenix Drop", Aphmau replied with a smile. Then, Sylvanna came up to her.
"This little one is becoming a bit grumpy", she said. "Could you hold him again, Aphmau?"
"Sure", Aphmau replied. She then took Levin from Sylvanna, and he immediately calmed down.
"Looks like Levin really likes you, Aphmau", Aaron pointed out.
"Yeah", Aphmau said, as she smiled down at Levin.
"Is that your kid", Sasha asked Aphmau. "He's cute."
"Levin's not mine", Aphmau replied. And she immediately felt a bit sad when she did.
When I said 'Levin's not mine', I felt a pain in my heart.
"I found him on my doorstep this morning", Aphmau added, pushing her sad feelings aside. "I'll be taking care of him until we find his family."
"Poor thing", Sasha said. "If there's anything I can do to help you find his family, let me know."
"Thank you, Sasha", Aphmau said.
"No problem", Sasha replied, before turning around. "I'm going to pick out a cabin. It was nice to meet you, Lord Aphmau."
"It was very nice to meet you too, Sasha", Aphmau greeted her.
"Sasha, let me help you pick out a cabin", Brenden said enthusiastically.
"Sure", Sasha said. "Lead the way."
With this, Brenden excitedly began leading Sasha away. What he didn't notice was her looking back behind her…and staring at Levin.
