As the Enchancian royals stepped out of their coach, James dashed inside. "Come on, Sparky!"
Once they arrived in James' room, he set down his eevee and announced, "What do you think? Pretty cool, right!?" James paused for a minute then added, "I guess there isn't much to do in here compared to the rest of the castle..." A sudden grin grew on James' face as he reached down to Sparky and cried, "Tag!! You're it!!" then ran out of the room. Sparky's face lit up as he began chasing after the prince.
James barely made it down the hallway before Sparky pounced on top of him. The eevee instantly began licking the prince's cheek. James couldn't help but laugh. "Wow, Sparky! You're super fast! Hmmm... guess it's my turn!"
James and Sparky had a blast running around the castle. The bright shiny eevee could easily weave around chairs, dodge servants, and jump over couches. It felt almost impossible for James to catch up to his new friend. He took a deep breath before Sparky walked back towards him. James gently stroked the eevee's back. "You win, Sparky! I've gotta admit I haven't had this much fun in a while."
The next day, James woke up to Sparky nudging him. "Huh?" James stated before he yawned.
"Eevee! Eevee!!" Sparky cried, continuing to shake James.
Yawning once more, James stated, "Gee, Sparky... You're up already? I barely even see the sun. You sure have a lot of energy." The eevee began to hop in response, making James start to laugh and add, "Ok, ok! We can go play outside. There's an obstacle course that I like to play at with Rex and Freedo. How does that sound?" Speedy seemed pleased with the idea, so James got up and got dressed before heading outside.
James had brought Sparky to the obstacle course. "I sometimes come here for knight training, and maybe even just for fun! Each obstacle has a different test. See? First you swing over a pit of water. Next you'll use the rope to climb over the wall. And then-" The prince paused as he looked down at his eevee. "Wait, can you swing and climb? It doesn't look like you would be able to..."
Sparky immediately perked up, giving the set position. James watched as the shiny eevee sprinted towards the ropes. He was shocked as Sparky actually grabbed the ropes and swung over the pit of water. "Woah...! Brilliant!!!" James cried.
The rest of the day was filled with laughter and excitement. James became super proud of how well Sparky could complete the obstacle course. It was short-lived, however, when James looked up to find a dark cloud heading their way. "Uh oh... Sorry, Sparky. We better head inside, that looks like a storm!" James told his friend.
They definitely did not let it ruin their day! Once they got back to James' room, they actually turned the thunderstorm into a bunch of fun games! "First up, we have Flash Dash!" James announced. Sparky had to sprint across the dark room. However, anytime a flash of lightning lit up the room, the eevee had to freeze in place. James carefully watched Sparky. "And the storm reveals... A frozen eevee! Sparky is safe!" A few flashes later and James stated, "And the storm reveals... A moving eevee! Sorry, Sparky! Back to the start!"
This game went on for quite a while until it was time for their next storm-game. James picked up one of his toys. "How about reflexes?" James suggested. The prince would toss up the toy each time a flash of lightning was seen. Sparky had to jump and catch the toy before it hit the ground. As always, Sparky was super fast with great reflexes. James couldn't help but laugh due to how much excitement filled the room. "I haven't gotten a single point yet," James told his eevee. Sparky's face was filled with guilt. When James noticed this he automatically clarified, "No, don't worry. I'm not complaining! I'm just impressed!! You have fast reflexes, Sparky. I'm proud! It's like you're connected to this storm!" The eevee's smile instantly returned.
A few rounds later and it was time for their next game! "I have an idea! Thunder Tag!" James exclaimed. "Each time a lightning strikes, we dash across the room for the window! If you make it before the next flash, you score a point. If not, you lose one! How does that sound?" Sparky began cheering and jumping, making James laugh and state, "Alright! Guess that's a yes!" Almost each round Sparky scored a point. James had to work super hard to keep up with the eevee. A few rounds in and James made it to the window with Sparky left behind. James chuckled a bit as he asked his new friend, "Sparky, did you let me win that time!?" The two were filled with smiles and laughter.
Fun was too boring of a word to describe their night. These fun games continued for so long that they accidentally fell asleep in the middle of a game on the floor. The two got so distracted that they forgot to actually get ready for bed and stayed up super late. It really showed the amount of joy, energy, and excitement the two had together.
The next few days were filled with fun and energy. James was so thankful that he ended up with Sparky! They both ran into Amber & Venus in the throne room. James looked to see Venus once again in a tiara and new dress. He chuckled for a bit as he asked his sister, "Why do you always dress up your eevee so much?"
Amber instantly told her twin, "Because Venus loves it just as much as I do! Right, Venus?" The eevee sat up perfectly straight and proudly smiled and nodded. Amber grinned herself as she finished, "See! Why do you always have to be so reckless with yours? Not necessarily being a good influence if you ask me."
"We're just having fun," James explained. "Sparky sure seems to enjoy it. Right, Sparky?" His white eevee began squealing and jumping, making James laugh in response. "See!"
The twins decided that they simply have different relationships with their new friends. The prince watched as Amber exited the room. James rolled his eyes and told Sparky, "Amber just doesn't know how to have fun anymore..." He took a quick look around the room. "Hey, Sparky? Ready for another fun challenge!?" The eevee jumped over and over until James explained, "Alright! Start by the door, rush down the red carpet, and jump over one throne, duck under the next, and keep going until you get to the last throne! Then when you're done, turn around and jump on each throne landing in the middle. If you fall, you lose! Ready?"
The white eevee nodded with excitement before heading for the door. James was thrilled seeing his new friend run so fast! It was almost enchanting to see how perfectly Sparky could jump and duck. By the end when Sparky was on the last throne, he immediately jumped off and landed on James.
All James could do was laugh as Sparky licked his cheek and the prince stated, "Great job, boy!! You're the fastest pet I've ever known!" James jaw instantly dropped when Sparky began to grow. He was now whiter and brighter than before. So much so that a huge burst of light came off of Sparky. James had to shield his eyes as he questioned, "Is this a new trick? I don't remember teaching you this!" When the light toned down, James could finally look back at his friend and tell him, "Woah...! Sparky!!! Is that you!? Brilliant!!!"
