Check out Acolyte of Magic, a really fun Percy Jackson Story.
Dark Rising, The Lady of Wolves, and Kagami Uzumaki for some really fun Naruto stories.
This is going to be awesome as it gets bigger.
Wave was great, but the fight scenes lasted FAR Too long.
Turned out the Chakra Chains were pure chakra, and could be manuvered into nearly any position, shape or movement. All Ren had to do was think about it, willing them as he pleased. They had a weight limit based on his chakra, the more chakra he pushed into them the stronger they were. He treated them sort of like an extra set of arms at times, practcing fighting multiple enemies with his clones and Hayate.
The next six days passed swiftly, training with Hayate to master his chakra chains and oddly precise chakra sensing skills. His sickly mentor was something else during those six days, training him far harder than ever. Ren got to see that his Sensei was far faster than he realized, a master of evasion when they sparred with the chains. For a solid twenty minutes despite fighting Ren at full force including his three manifested chains, not a single one hit him.
It was beyond impressive and only gave him more respect for his mentor.
Soon, far too soon, they were walking onto the bridge with the others bar Naruto. His idiot brother had stayed up all night practicing the tree climbing, exhausting himself to the bone.
However, as they made it to the bridge, something was immediately wrong. "Sensei, I sense two strong chakras and several very muted chakras. I feel pain, something is wrong."
Kakashi was the first to turn. "Pain? No one can sense pain, not unless... we'll talk about that later." He turned back to the bridge. "Zabuza is here, as is the other ninja he has as his ally."
And soon they saw it, a thick veil of mist, radiating chakra and negative energy. Ren's fingers itched for his blade, knowing he was the strongest besides the two jonin and the only reliable ninja besides them. He had to be on his toes, if he was to survive all that was to come.
A wriggling, sad energy drew his attention. "Senseis, that one in the Mask, his chakra feels cold, sad and very strong. They have less chakra than Zabuza, but it's more potent."
Zabuza laughed. "A sensor, and a gifted one at that. Pity I have to kill you or rather, Haku will."
Haku, the masked one, moved in a swirl of cold wind. His speed was intense, but Hayate was faster so it as easy for Ren to met them with their sword infused with wind chakra. Haku flew back, trying to get to safety as Ren carved not only through his senbon but also part of his arm. Three chakra chains tore out of Ren's chest, wrapping around Haku long enough for Ren to behead him in one swift motion.
"Gross." Ren managed before dropping Haku's corpse onto the bridge.
Zabuza stepped back, eyes wide. "The Uzumaki Chakra chains, but your hair isn't red!"
Ren blasted his chains at the man, who sliced through his chains with ease. Zabuza leapt back, only for Hayate to appear behind him and slice through the back of his knees. Kakashi finished it all with a Kunai to the chest. Zabuza's chakra ceased in an instant.
However, Ren groaned, drawing everyone's attention as the Mist faded away. "I can sense more chakra, a group of dozens... all filled with malice. Their beneath the bridge."
Kakashi and Hayate rushed over, and looked down, as did Ren and Sasuke where they saw dozens of thugs with a short, arrogant looking man trying to climb the bridge stealthily.
Tazuna rushed over. "That short one is Gato."
The two jonin shared a look before Hayate coughed. "Give us a moment."
Within two seconds, they both jumped off of the bridge and tore apart the idiots that dared to endanger their mission's success. No one survived, especially not Gato...
And so was freed the people of Wave, before they ever knew it was over.
When Naruto arrived on the bridge twenty minutes later, when Ren was helping Tazuna make up for his missing workers with shadow clones, the boy took one look at Haku's pretty face, as Hayate was sealing it away, and screamed. "HE was my friend, who killed him?"
Ren, the real Ren, raised a hand. " That would be me, he was our enemy."
Naruto actually charged him, screaming with enough hate that it made Sakura recoil and Sasuke look at him in actual shock. " YOU RUIN EVERYTHING!" Ren effortlessly dodged every strike, before kicking out his brother's knees and placing his sword at his throat. "JUST KILL ME, I KNOW YOU TOO, YOU MONSTER!"
Rolling his eyes, Ren grabbed his brother's chin. "We are all monsters, it's called being a ninja. I did what I had to, in order to survive. Grow up."
Hayate nodded. "He's right, Naruto. Ninja kill, all of us, it's par for the course."
Naruto rose as his brother pulled away. "I hate you, Ren. Always." he growled before stomping away, leaving everyone to look after him, wondering just what the future held.
And yet, not Ren, who realized in that moment how little he actually gave a shit. Naruto was whiny, weak and lazy. He really shouldn't care about his brother...
Why should he? Naruto and him were too different, it was time he found his peace on his own, as he started to years ago.
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joy to write.
