Chapter 13: Old friend and new enemy
Hey everyone! I'm back with a new chapter! This is another original chapter I was trying to figure out how to write, but I hope you guys like it. Anyway, sit back, relax, review, and enjoy!
"We find ourselves in Jump City, where the Teen Titans are fighting Cinderblock."
The battle unfolded in Jump City, chaos swirling around the Teen Titans as they fought Cinderblock. Robin delivered precise strikes with his staff, aiming for Cinderblock's joints, while Starfire hurled radiant energy bolts from above. Beast Boy, in the form of a massive gorilla, tried grappling the brute's arms, though Cinderblock's strength was overwhelming.
Meanwhile, Omni-Kid stood back, assessing the scene. "Humungousaur should help out," he muttered before slamming down on the Omnitrix. A brief green light flashed as the watch spun, but instead of the towering Humungousaur, Omni-Kid shrank down into a much smaller, more childlike alien.
He looked at his new form—Chowdown. "Huh, I wanted Humungousaur or Diamondhead... not Chowdown," the alien said in a youthful, innocent voice. "But here goes nothing." The alien identified itself, then Chowdown, in his cartoon-like manner, rushed forward, his exaggerated movements making him appear comical as he joined the fray.
Back with the team, Robin jumped into the air, delivering a direct kick that made Cinderblock stumble backward, turning just in time to get hit by one of Starfire's energy blasts. Cyborg followed up by jumping into the air, going for a right hook, but his attack was intercepted, though it still caused the villain to stumble.
From above, Beast Boy, in the form of a hawk, swooped down, raking Cinderblock's body with his talons, forcing him into a corner. Nearby, Raven raised a chunk of the floor and hurled it at Cinderblock, but the villain broke through it, advancing toward the Titans.
With a powerful backhand, Cinderblock sent both Robin and Cyborg flying, leaving only Starfire in motion before grabbing her with both hands.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you," she smiled, her eyes glowing neon green, "but I'm stronger than I look." With a single high kick, she sent the villain crashing into a wall. Meanwhile, Beast Boy shifted from a hawk into a T-Rex, charging forward. But despite the dinosaur's size, Cinderblock sent him flying with a single punch.
"Azerath, Metrion—" Raven began to chant but stopped as Beast Boy's shadow loomed over her from above.
Before Beast Boy could land on her, Chowdown caught the green changeling mid-air with ease, despite his small size, and set him down gently.
"Sheesh, when did it start raining dinosaurs?" Chowdown quipped as Beast Boy continued to fight, grumbling in annoyance.
"Thank you," Raven said, to which Chowdown nodded before leaping back into the battle.
Nearby, Cinderblock chuckled, preparing to advance, but Robin jumped from behind, trying to put him in a headlock. The stone behemoth thrashed, tearing a girder loose from the wall, chunks of concrete still attached.
"Thrashing only makes me hold tighter!" Robin yelled as Cinderblock struggled, inadvertently hitting himself with the girder but remaining unfazed.
"Now there's an idea," Cyborg noted, tearing off a nearby girder and charging forward, clashing with Cinderblock in a makeshift club fight. The clash didn't last long before Cinderblock sent Cyborg skidding across the floor with a mighty swing.
Starfire floated nearby, causing Cinderblock to prepare another swing, but he grunted in surprise as a single starbolt caused his makeshift weapon to wrap around his hand. As Cinderblock broke free, he was hit by an energy blast, forcing him to look up, where he saw Chowdown clinging to the ceiling, literally eating away some metal.
Chowdown took a deep breath, firing another energy blast right at Cinderblock's face, sending him stumbling back. "Pew!" Chowdown cried out as he jumped from his spot, delivering a solid headbutt that sent the rock-like villain crashing into a wall.
"Whoa..." Cyborg said in awe of the small alien's strength as he and Robin stared, jaws practically dropping to the floor. "Dude..."
"I might be small and cuddly-looking, but I'm way tougher than I look!" Chowdown exclaimed, clearly distracted, which allowed Cinderblock to land a hit on the small alien. Using the momentum, Chowdown sprang off a wall, jumped over Cinderblock, and began rapidly stamping down on the villain with his little feet. He then dropped down, fired another energy blast, and dodged an incoming fist.
Using his small size to his advantage, Chowdown rolled forward, eating a chunk of concrete from the floor in seconds and hitting Cinderblock in the back with another energy blast. "Pew!" The small alien lunged forward for another headbutt, but Cinderblock swatted him aside, sending him flying.
Starfire caught him in her arms. "Are you okay?" she asked.
"Yeah... peachy," Chowdown replied, his eyes swirling. "Uh-oh. I think I'm gonna hurl." Alarmed, Starfire quickly set him down, allowing the alien to rush to a corner, just as Cinderblock made a run deeper into the city.
As Chowdown stumbled off to the side, struggling to recover from his dizzy spell, Robin regrouped with the other Titans. "We can't let him get away!" Robin barked, pulling himself to his feet after being knocked down earlier.
Cyborg checked his systems. "I'm down on power, but I've still got enough juice to stop him." His sonic cannon whirred, but he was visibly weary from the repeated blows he had taken from Cinderblock.
"Chowdown's done some damage, but Cinderblock's still pushing forward," Raven added, her eyes narrowing as the villain lumbered deeper into the city, causing more destruction in his wake. She floated up, ready to attack, her hands glowing with dark energy.
"We need to surround him and cut him off!" Robin ordered, immediately leaping toward a nearby building for higher ground.
Starfire was the first to act, her hands igniting with green energy. "I will cut off his path!" she declared, soaring above the streets as she launched another barrage of starbolts at Cinderblock, aiming to drive him into a narrow alleyway.
Beast Boy shifted into a cheetah, sprinting alongside Cinderblock, trying to find an opening to strike. "Come on, big guy, let's see how fast you can run!" he taunted as his feline form darted in and out of Cinderblock's reach, narrowly avoiding the brute's powerful swipes.
Omni-Kid, still in Chowdown's form, shook off his dizziness and caught up to the team, still running with his exaggerated cartoon-like speed. "Okay, okay! I'm ready! I think…" Chowdown's eyes focused on the fleeing villain. "Time for another round!" He dashed forward with surprising agility, leaping onto the back of Cinderblock and chomping down on the stone-hard surface of his shoulder.
Cinderblock growled in frustration, swinging wildly at the small alien clinging to him, but Chowdown was too quick. Every time Cinderblock tried to grab him, Chowdown would scurry up to his other shoulder or bite down on a new part of his stone-like body, slowly chipping away at his defenses.
Cyborg saw his chance. "Keep him busy, Chowdown!" he yelled before taking aim with his cannon. With a blast of sonic energy, Cyborg sent a concussive wave that hit Cinderblock square in the chest, staggering him backward.
Robin, now perched atop a nearby rooftop, hurled a series of birdarangs at Cinderblock's legs, each one exploding on impact and creating enough force to trip the villain up. "Now, Starfire!"
Starfire unleashed a concentrated energy beam directly at Cinderblock's midsection, causing the stone giant to stumble again, nearly toppling over as the combined attacks wore him down. "He's weakening!" she cried out.
But just as it seemed like they had the upper hand, Cinderblock let out a roar and swung his arm in a wide arc, knocking Chowdown off his back and sending the small alien flying into a nearby car. Chowdown groaned as he pulled himself out of the wreckage. "I'm good! I think... I might've cracked a tooth though..." he muttered, rubbing his jaw.
Beast Boy, now in the form of a rhino, charged at Cinderblock from the side, slamming into his legs with full force. The impact knocked the villain off balance, sending him crashing to the ground.
"We've got him!" Robin shouted. He motioned for the team to surround Cinderblock, ready for the final blow.
Chowdown, recovering quickly, grinned and rushed forward again. "Time for the knockout!" He took a deep breath, charging up another energy blast. This time, he aimed directly at Cinderblock's face and fired.
The blast connected, and with a massive thud, Cinderblock finally collapsed, groaning in defeat. The ground shook beneath him as his massive body hit the pavement, sending cracks rippling through the street.
Cyborg wiped his brow. "Man, that was tough... but we did it."
Robin nodded, standing tall over the defeated villain. "Good job, team. Let's get Cinderblock back to holding before he gets any bright ideas about breaking out."
As the Titans worked to restrain Cinderblock, Chowdown reverted back into Omni-Kid, standing proudly among his teammates. "Whew! That was way more fun than I expected!" he said, still buzzing with energy from the fight.
Raven glanced at him, her usual deadpan expression softening slightly. "You did good, Jake. Even as Chowdown."
Jake smiled. "Thanks, Raven. I guess sometimes the little guys really can pack a punch."
Omni-Kid crossed his arms and made a mock pout as Beast Boy scooped him up effortlessly, placing him on his shoulders like a much younger child. "Hey, hey! I'm still a teenager!" Omni-Kid protested, though the smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth betrayed his playful frustration.
Beast Boy just grinned, ignoring the complaints as he bounced Omni-Kid lightly on his shoulders. "Yeah, yeah, but you look more like a kid right now, little bro!" he teased, his green eyes full of amusement. "Besides, after a fight like that, you've earned a ride!"
Omni-Kid huffed, though he couldn't help but laugh. "Just don't get too used to it, BB. I'm still the same guy that can turn into Humungousaur and smash things ten times your size."
"Yeah, but right now, you're just Omni-Kid," Beast Boy chuckled, happy to see his little brother in good spirits. He was still adjusting to the fact that Jake was back to being ten years old again, but moments like these, when Jake was smiling and laughing, made it easier. "Besides, it's not every day I get to be the 'big brother,'" he added with a wink.
Starfire floated down beside them, her radiant smile brightening the moment. "You were quite impressive today, Omni-Kid! Your strength, despite your size, was most inspiring," she praised, her glowing eyes full of admiration.
Omni-Kid beamed at the compliment, but then quickly remembered to stay humble. "Well, you know, it's all in a day's work. I mean, Chowdown's not exactly what I planned to transform into, but I made it work!" He gave a thumbs-up from Beast Boy's shoulders, trying to maintain his heroic air.
Robin and Cyborg approached, both nodding in approval. "You adapted to the situation, Jake. That's what makes a good hero," Robin said, his usual serious tone carrying a note of pride.
Cyborg gave Omni-Kid a fist bump, which Jake quickly returned. "And hey, you saved me from getting flattened by a dino Beast Boy. That's a win in my book!"
Raven, standing just a little behind the group, added her dry comment. "Plus, you didn't actually hurl. That's a win for all of us."
Omni-Kid laughed, rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah, about that… I got close, but I kept it together."
Beast Boy grinned and patted Jake's head. "You're a tough little guy. I'm proud of ya, squirt."
Omni-Kid rolled his eyes at the nickname but couldn't hide his grin. He felt happy—genuinely happy. Despite the chaos of the battle, being with the Titans like this made everything feel right.
As the team started heading back toward the T-Tower, Omni-Kid, still perched on Beast Boy's shoulders, looked out over the city. His mind wandered to how far he'd come, and though he sometimes missed being his older self, he was finding his place again among his friends.
He leaned down and whispered to Beast Boy, "Thanks, BB."
Beast Boy glanced up, a little confused. "For what?"
"For being there for me," Jake said softly, his voice genuine.
Beast Boy's grin widened, and he gave Jake a reassuring pat. "Always, little bro. Always."
Meanwhile, in a shadowy alleyway not too far from the Titans' battleground, a young teenager with light skin and bright orange hair strode purposefully through the dim light. He wore a pink shirt beneath a black jacket, blue pants, and black shoes, his eyes scanning the area cautiously as if searching for something—or someone. His expression remained calm, though there was an unmistakable intensity in his gaze.
The teen slowed as he reached the edge of the alley, crouching down and pressing his hand firmly against the concrete wall beside him. The moment his hand made contact, something extraordinary happened. His fist transformed, hardening and shifting until it matched the texture and strength of the very concrete he was touching. The rough, stone-like surface covered his hand and forearm entirely.
The boy grinned, a glint of satisfaction in his eyes as he examined his newly hardened fist. "Perfect," he muttered to himself. His voice carried a low, calculating tone. "This should do nicely."
He clenched his concrete fist and gave the wall a swift punch. The impact left a sizable dent, and the wall cracked under the force. He flexed his fingers, satisfied with the display of strength, before allowing his hand to shift back into its human form.
As he stood up, the sound of distant voices caught his attention. His eyes narrowed, and a sly grin spread across his face. He recognized those voices—the Teen Titans. "Looks like the fun's just getting started," he said, taking a few steps toward the alley's exit.
The teenager pulled out a small device from his pocket, glancing at it briefly before tucking it away again. "Time to make my move. Let's see how the Titans handle this."
With a swift motion, he leaped onto the nearest fire escape, scaling the building with ease. As he reached the rooftop, he crouched low, looking out over Jump City. In the distance, he could see the aftermath of the Titans' fight with Cinderblock. The towering villain had been subdued, but the real battle was only just beginning.
The boy smirked to himself. "They won't know what hit them."
As he moved across the rooftops, his mind raced with thoughts of his next plan. Whoever this mysterious teen was, one thing was clear: he wasn't here to make friends with the Titans.
Later that night, Jake was excitedly getting ready to head out to the arcade. He'd been looking forward to this for days, and nothing could ruin his mood—or so he thought. Just as he reached for the door, Robin stepped in front of him, arms crossed, with a stern look.
"Where do you think you're going, Jake?" Robin asked.
Jake blinked, his hand still on the doorknob. "To the arcade, obviously. I've been planning this for a while."
Robin shook his head, his expression unwavering. "Not tonight. It's your turn to do night patrol."
Jake's excitement quickly evaporated. "Night patrol? Robin, come on! I've been fighting crime all week. I need a break! We already dealt with Cinderblock earlier."
Robin's voice remained firm. "Patrol is part of your responsibilities as a Titan, Jake. We all take turns, and tonight is yours. You can go to the arcade another time."
Jake groaned, exasperated. "Another time? But the arcade closes in a couple of hours! I've been waiting all week for this."
The other Titans had started to gather nearby, sensing the rising tension.
Starfire floated closer, her hands clasped. "Friend Jake, perhaps you could do both? Attend to the patrol and then, perhaps, enjoy the games later?"
Jake sighed. "Star, that's not how it works. The arcade will be closed by the time I'm done."
Cyborg, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, chimed in. "Look, man, I get it. But we all have to pull our weight around here. It's how we keep Jump City safe."
Jake huffed, his frustration building. "I've been pulling my weight! I'm Omni-Kid! I help save the world just like the rest of you. I deserve a break."
Raven, who had been watching silently, finally spoke up. "No one's saying you don't deserve a break, Jake. But there's a balance. Patrol is part of the job."
Jake turned to her, his frustration clear. "This isn't fair. I'm just a kid—I need time to be a kid too!"
Robin's expression hardened. "You're not *just* a kid, Jake. You're a Titan, and that means taking responsibility. I'm not grounding you because I want to, but because you need to understand that being a hero comes first."
Jake's frustration boiled over. "You can't ground me! You're not my dad!"
Robin's eyes narrowed. "No, I'm not. But I'm the leader of this team. And yes, I *can* ground you. You're not going to the arcade tonight."
The room went quiet for a moment. Cyborg scratched the back of his head awkwardly, unsure how to defuse the situation. "Yo, maybe we're making this bigger than it needs to be. I mean, Jake's been working hard—maybe we could swap shifts?"
Robin shot him a look. "This isn't about swapping shifts. It's about teaching Jake the importance of commitment."
Jake clenched his fists. "This is so unfair! You guys act like I'm some little kid who can't make decisions for myself."
"Jake…" Starfire started, her voice gentle, "we are only looking out for you. We understand the need for joy and relaxation, but there are times when the duties of a hero must come first."
Beast Boy finally stepped forward, clearly torn. "Dude, I know how much you've been looking forward to this. I get it, I really do. But Robin's right—we gotta take care of stuff first. How about this? After the patrol, I'll join you at the arcade next time, and I'll even let you pick the games."
Jake looked at Beast Boy, feeling slightly comforted but still upset. "Yeah, thanks, BB. But this isn't about the arcade. It's about Robin treating me like a kid when I've proven I'm just as much a hero as the rest of you."
Robin sighed, trying to rein in his frustration. "I'm not treating you like a kid, Jake. I'm treating you like a member of the team, and that means sometimes you have to do things you don't want to. That's what being a hero is about."
Jake bit his lip, trying to hold back his anger. He wanted to argue more, but he could see that Robin wasn't going to budge. Feeling defeated, he turned away from the group.
"Fine. I'll do the stupid patrol," Jake muttered as he walked toward the door. "But I'm still going to the arcade—just not tonight."
Without waiting for a response, Jake stormed outside, slamming the door behind him. The remaining Titans stood in silence for a moment.
Cyborg let out a low whistle. "Well… that could've gone better."
Starfire floated down, her expression troubled. "I worry for our friend, Jake. He carries much weight for someone so young."
Beast Boy sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, well, I don't blame him for wanting to have some fun. He's still a kid, even if he's Omni-Kid."
Robin looked down, his face softening slightly. "I know he's a kid. That's why I'm hard on him—because he's capable of more than he realizes. He just has to understand that being a hero means sacrifice."
Raven closed her book, her voice even. "He'll come around. They always do."
The Titans exchanged glances, knowing that despite the argument, they were still a team—and Jake would find his way back, just like always.
Jake sat on the rooftop, staring out at the city lights, his mind racing. He muttered to himself, fists clenched in frustration.
"Robin doesn't get it. I *know* responsibility. I've made sacrifices, too. I *sacrificed* the Omnitrix to save the team when it exploded... They don't even know what that felt like."
The weight of everything he'd been through pressed down on him. It wasn't just the arguments, or even being treated like a kid. It was the constant need to prove himself, over and over again, even though he had already done more than most heroes his age.
"I may be stuck in a 10-year-old's body, but I'm still 14. I've earned my place on this team... Why does Robin act like I'm some sidekick who still needs training?"
As he sat there, lost in thought, he didn't notice the figure lurking on a nearby building, watching him carefully. It was Kyber, his gaze locked on Jake. A twisted smile crossed his face as he pulled out a small whistle from his coat. The whistle was connected to a spiked red collar, engraved with a strange red symbol.
Kyber placed the whistle to his lips and blew softly, producing a sharp, eerie sound that echoed through the night. The collar reacted instantly.
On a distant rooftop, Zed, Kyber's loyal companion, stood with his hulking frame. The moment the whistle sounded, the red symbol on his collar began to glow and shift. His body started to contort and change.
Zed's already large form expanded, his muscles rippling as he grew even more massive. His body transformed into something out of a nightmare: a rock-based creature with a dark purple and grey color scheme, sunken red eyes glowing menacingly. His crab-like body had six legs, each one covered in spikes. His face was now rhino-like, with a long, menacing horn protruding from his head. The transformation completed with Zed's new form standing tall, the collar still around his neck, its red symbol pulsing with energy.
Kyber grinned as Zed's new monstrous form let out a deep, guttural growl that shook the air.
"That's right, Zed," Kyber whispered to himself. "Go and fetch the boy."
Jake, still unaware of the looming threat, was too wrapped up in his frustration to notice the approaching danger. He muttered once more under his breath.
"I'm Omni-Kid. I *deserve* to be treated like one of them."
Just then, a shadow moved behind him. Jake's eyes widened as he felt a low rumble beneath his feet. He turned, his heart skipping a beat as he saw the massive creature—Zed—in his monstrous, rock-like form, advancing toward him.
Jake's instincts kicked in. "What the—?!"
Before he could react further, Zed let out a deafening roar, its sunken red eyes locking onto him.
Zed's massive crab-like arm came crashing down with a thunderous boom, striking the ground with enough force to send tremors through the surrounding buildings. Jake's eyes widened in alarm as the rooftop beneath him began to crumble.
Without hesitation, he quickly tapped the bracelet Cyborg had made for him. In an instant, a bright blue force field surrounded his body just as the building collapsed, the concrete and debris tumbling down on top of him. Dust and rubble filled the air, obscuring the view of where Jake had been standing only moments before.
From the rubble, the distinct hum of the force field could be heard, shielding Jake from the crushing weight of the debris.
"Come on, Cyborg, don't fail me now," Jake muttered under his breath as he crouched within the protective barrier, the heavy blocks of stone pressing down all around him.
Zed let out a guttural snarl, watching the building crumble into ruins. He tilted his head, his glowing red eyes searching for any signs of movement, but Jake remained hidden beneath the fallen structure, shielded by Cyborg's technology.
On the adjacent rooftop, Kyber watched with cold amusement, his arms folded across his chest. "He's more resourceful than I expected," he murmured. "But that won't save him for long."
Jake, still crouched under the force field, was thinking fast. The Omnitrix on his wrist was glowing faintly, indicating he was ready to transform. He knew he had to act quickly—Zed wouldn't stop until he was crushed or captured.
"I need something strong," Jake whispered to himself, looking at the Omnitrix. "But fast too… No mistakes this time."
He slammed down on the Omnitrix, its familiar green light flashing brightly around him. In a matter of seconds, the energy began to surge through his body as his form shifted.
The rubble around him exploded outward, sending chunks of debris flying as Jake—now transformed into Humungousaur—burst free from the fallen building. He roared, his towering, dinosaur-like form standing in the midst of the ruins. The force field vanished, no longer necessary with his new strength.
Zed growled in response, his spiked arms raised in challenge. The massive creature lumbered forward, ready to engage.
Jake—now Humungousaur—squared his shoulders, cracking his knuckles. "You want a fight? You got one!"
With a ground-shaking stomp, Jake charged at Zed, his fists clenched and ready for impact. The two giants collided in the middle of the rooftop, sending shockwaves through the area as their massive forms clashed.
Humungousaur threw a powerful punch toward Zed's rhino-like face, but the rock-like creature blocked it with one of its crab-like arms, the impact causing sparks to fly. Zed retaliated by slamming a spiked leg toward Jake's side, but Jake managed to dodge, using his larger form to absorb the brunt of the hit.
"Come on,!" Jake growled. "You're not taking me down that easily!"
The air cracked with tension as Jake—now in his massive Humungousaur form—charged Zed. The two towering beasts collided with a thunderous impact that sent shockwaves through the surrounding rooftops. Zed's crab-like arms clashed with Jake's fists in a brutal exchange of power. Sparks flew as stone met bone, and the force of their battle was enough to make the ground beneath them tremble.
"Who the heck *are* you?" Jake grunted as he swung a massive fist, only for Zed to block it with one of his spiked, crab-like legs. "And what *is* this thing?!"
Zed didn't answer—couldn't answer, in fact. The creature let out another guttural snarl, its sunken red eyes glowing with primal rage. It raised one of its gigantic, rock-like arms and slammed it down toward Jake's head.
Jake barely had time to dodge. The impact shattered the rooftop beneath him, sending chunks of concrete flying in every direction. He staggered backward, the ground crumbling beneath his feet as he tried to regain his balance.
"*Come on!*" Jake growled to himself, his massive form lumbering as he raised his fists again. "*Think, Jake, think!*" He threw another punch, this one connecting with Zed's rock-hard shell, but it barely left a mark. Zed swiped back with his crab arm, catching Jake in the ribs. The force of the blow sent Jake sprawling across the rooftop, his heavy body skidding against the ground.
"Ugh…" Jake groaned, pushing himself up, feeling the throbbing pain in his side. His strength was incredible as Humungousaur, but Zed was made of something far tougher than regular stone. "What *are* you?" he shouted again, frustration building. But Zed just let out another roar and stomped forward, closing the gap between them.
The fight wasn't going well. Every punch Jake threw was either blocked or barely affected the monstrous creature. Zed, on the other hand, was relentless—its strikes were heavier, faster. Jake could feel his energy draining with every hit he took. He needed a new plan.
As Zed charged again, Jake sidestepped just in time, narrowly avoiding the creature's devastating clawed strike. He looked around desperately, searching for something—anything—that could give him an edge. His eyes fell on a nearby construction site.
"Of course!" Jake muttered, a spark of hope igniting in his mind. "The beams… maybe I can use them."
With Zed closing in, Jake took a deep breath and sprinted toward the construction site. Each of his thunderous footfalls shook the ground beneath him, but Zed was right on his tail. The massive creature roared as it chased Jake, its red eyes glowing brighter with every step.
Jake leaped over a pile of debris, landing near a stack of steel beams that had been left by the construction workers. He turned just in time to see Zed barreling toward him, its rock-like form crashing through the remains of the building.
"Alright, big guy," Jake muttered, gripping one of the beams in his giant hands. "Let's see how tough you *really* are!"
Zed lunged, but Jake swung the beam with all his might, slamming it into Zed's side. The metal vibrated with the impact, and Zed let out a deep, rumbling roar of pain. Jake didn't stop. He swung the beam again, aiming for the creature's legs this time. The sharp sound of metal hitting stone echoed through the night as Jake struck blow after blow.
But Zed wasn't going down that easily. The creature grabbed one of the beams with its claw and wrenched it out of Jake's hands, throwing it aside like it weighed nothing. Then, with a sudden burst of speed, Zed tackled Jake, pinning him against a nearby wall.
"Argh!" Jake gasped as the wind was knocked out of him. Zed pressed its weight down on him, its claws digging into the concrete wall. Jake struggled, trying to push the creature off, but Zed was too strong. The pressure was unbearable, and he could feel the wall cracking behind him.
"Come on… think, Jake!" he groaned through gritted teeth. "You've been in worse situations than this…" But his mind was racing. He had no idea what Zed was or why it was after him. And without knowing that, he couldn't figure out how to beat it.
Zed roared again, raising one of its massive claws to finish Jake off.
Jake's eyes darted around the construction site. His gaze locked onto a half-dismantled crane a few feet away, its steel cable dangling above Zed's head.
"Got it!" Jake yelled, slamming his hand on the Omnitrix again. The green light flashed as he transformed into a smaller, faster alien—Spider-Monkey.
As the transformation completed, Jake's new form allowed him to slip out of Zed's crushing grip. He scurried up the wall with incredible speed, leaping onto the crane before Zed could react. With a quick tug, Jake yanked the steel cable loose, sending it hurtling toward the creature below.
The cable wrapped around Zed's arms and legs, trapping it in place. Zed snarled and struggled, but the more it moved, the tighter the cable became.
"Let's see how you like being tied down!" Jake called out from above, shooting webs from his Spider-Monkey form to secure the cable even further.
Zed roared, pulling against the bindings, but for the first time, it seemed like Jake had the upper hand. He swung down from the crane, landing in front of the trapped creature.
"Alright, big guy," Jake said, breathing hard. "You're tough, I'll give you that. But you're not unstoppable."
Zed let out a furious roar, still fighting against the cables, but it was clear that it was losing strength.
"Time to end this," Jake muttered, slamming the Omnitrix one last time.
In a flash, Jake transformed back into Humungousaur. He raised his massive fists and delivered a final, earth-shaking punch straight into Zed's chest, sending the creature crashing into the ground with a resounding thud.
Zed lay motionless, the glowing red eyes dimming as it finally succumbed to defeat.
Jake stood over the creature, breathing heavily. He wiped the sweat from his brow, his muscles aching from the intense fight.
"Whoever you are…" Jake muttered, still frustrated by the lack of answers, "You picked the wrong guy to mess with."
As the Omnitrix let out its final beep, signaling that Jake had reached his limit, a red flash enveloped him. In an instant, he reverted to his human form, breathing heavily, hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath.
"Man… that was close," Jake muttered to himself, wiping the sweat from his brow. His legs trembled as the adrenaline left his system, and he stood up straight, glancing at where the crab creature had fallen.
But the sight before him made his heart skip a beat. The creature—Zed—was gone.
"What the—?!" Jake's eyes darted around the crumbled construction site, scanning the debris. There was no sign of the massive, crab-like monster anywhere. No footprints. No marks. Nothing. It was as if the creature had vanished into thin air.
He frowned, biting his lip. "Where did it go?"
Meanwhile, just a few blocks away, tucked in the shadows of a narrow alley, Zed—now back in its dog form—stood before its master, Kyber. The beast's collar glowed faintly with the strange red symbol on its front, its transformation complete. The dog's sunken red eyes gleamed as it stared up at Kyber, awaiting instruction.
Kyber's lips curled into a sinister smile as he knelt down beside his faithful creature, patting the top of its rocky head. "Very good," he murmured in approval, his voice low and dangerous. "So the stories are true… The wielder of the Omnitrix *is* worthy prey."
Zed let out a low growl in response, its spiked collar clinking softly as it shifted its massive body. Kyber straightened up, his sharp gaze fixed on the distant lights of the city. The faint sounds of sirens echoed in the distance, but they were no concern to him.
"The boy is strong," Kyber continued, more to himself than his beast. "But he is still young. Still vulnerable." His fingers traced the edge of the whistle that had controlled Zed's transformation. "He doesn't realize just how valuable he is."
Kyber glanced down at Zed once more, his smile widening. "But we will teach him. Slowly. Painfully."
Back on the rooftop, Jake couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. His eyes continued to search the area, but there was no sign of Zed anywhere. The Omnitrix on his wrist had powered down completely, its green light dim, leaving Jake without any transformations to rely on.
"Great…" Jake muttered. "Just when I thought I was getting somewhere, this thing goes and disappears."
He turned away from the wreckage, staring out over the city skyline. There was something larger at play here—he could feel it in his gut. But without answers, all he had was more questions.
Jake sighed, his shoulders slumping. "Who are these guys? And what do they want with me?"
As he began to make his way down from the rooftop, heading back toward Titans Tower, one thing was clear in his mind: whatever this was, it wasn't over. Far from it.
Kyber watched from the shadows, his eyes narrowing as Jake disappeared from sight. The game had only just begun. And Kyber intended to hunt his prey until the very end.
Jake dragged himself back to Titans Tower, his steps heavy with exhaustion. The fight had drained him—not just physically, but mentally as well. All the excitement about going to the arcade had been snuffed out by the chaos of battling that crab-like creature, and the weight of unanswered questions now rested on his shoulders.
As he entered the common room, the Titans were gathered, clearly waiting for him. Robin, who had been pacing, immediately looked up.
"Jake, we need to—"
But before Robin could finish, Jake walked right past him, his expression cold and distant. He didn't even spare a glance. Instead, he headed straight for his room, slamming the door behind him with a resounding *bang*.
The sudden noise made everyone in the room wince. A heavy silence followed as the Titans exchanged glances. The tension from their earlier argument was still in the air.
Robin sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I didn't mean to push him that hard."
Starfire floated closer, her eyes full of concern. "He is still young, and he faces much pressure. Perhaps we were too harsh."
Cyborg crossed his arms. "Yeah, well, he just fought a giant crab thing without warning. Kid's been through a lot."
Raven, who had been quietly observing the whole situation, added in her calm, monotone voice, "He needs time. Let him cool off."
Beast Boy, sitting on the couch, looked especially guilty. "I should go talk to him." He got up, but Raven raised a hand to stop him.
"Maybe it's best to leave him alone right now," she said.
But Beast Boy shook his head. "Nah, he's upset, and he probably feels like no one's on his side. I gotta at least try. He's my little bro."
With that, Beast Boy left the room and made his way toward Jake's door. He could hear faint rustling inside, but no crying, which was a small relief. Taking a deep breath, he knocked gently.
"Yo, Jake, it's BB. Can I come in?"
For a moment, there was no answer. Then, faintly through the door, Jake's voice called back. "Go away."
Beast Boy frowned but didn't leave. "Look, man, I know you're upset. You didn't even get to go to the arcade tonight. That sucks."
There was a long pause, and then Beast Boy heard movement inside. The door creaked open just a crack, revealing Jake's tired face.
"Yeah, it sucks," Jake muttered. "Everything sucks."
Beast Boy sighed and leaned against the doorframe. "I get it, dude. But you can't ignore Robin forever. He's just worried about you. We all are."
Jake's eyes darkened, and he opened the door a little wider. "He doesn't get it, BB. None of you do." He stepped back into his room and collapsed on his bed, burying his face in his hands. "I know I messed up, but I know responsibility. I've sacrificed things before. I—" He paused, clenching his fists. "I gave up the Omnitrix once. I saved you guys, and now he talks to me like I'm just a kid. Like I don't know anything."
Beast Boy entered the room, sitting down at the edge of Jake's bed. He looked around at the mess of games and gadgets scattered on the floor, a reminder of the kid Jake used to be, and still was in some ways. "Bro, you've been through a lot. More than any of us sometimes. But Robin's just trying to keep you safe. He doesn't want to lose you."
Jake sat up, looking at Beast Boy with frustration. "I'm not a kid, BB. I'm still 14. Even if I look 10, that doesn't change who I am. It doesn't change what I've done."
Beast Boy nodded. "I know. I know you're more than just a kid, but… it's hard for the rest of us. We're trying to protect you, but you've also been protecting us."
The room was quiet for a moment, and Jake's shoulders slumped. "I just wanted to have fun tonight, and then that thing attacked. I didn't even get to enjoy being normal for once."
Beast Boy chuckled softly. "Yeah, well, normal's kinda overrated. Especially when you're hanging out with me."
Jake couldn't help but smile, though it was faint. "Thanks, BB."
"No problem, lil' bro." Beast Boy got up, ruffling Jake's hair. "You wanna hang here for a bit, or maybe talk to the others later? Robin's probably freaking out about grounding you, you know."
Jake shook his head. "Maybe later. I just need a minute."
Beast Boy gave him a thumbs up before heading toward the door. "Alright, but don't stay mad at Robin too long. He's a pain, but he means well."
As the door closed behind him, Jake leaned back on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He felt a little better, but the weight of everything still pressed on his mind.
From his window, the distant glow of Jump City's lights flickered in the night. And somewhere out there, Kyber was watching. Waiting.
Later that day, Jake and Beast Boy headed to the arcade, a small promise from earlier that Jake was looking forward to. The bright lights and the cheerful buzz of the arcade provided a welcome distraction from the earlier tension. Jake was enjoying himself, lost in the various games and flashing lights, when something—or rather someone—caught his eye.
Across the room, Jake spotted a familiar face. There was a teenager with bright orange hair, light skin, and dressed in a pink shirt, black jacket, blue pants, and black shoes. His striking appearance was hard to miss. Jake's heart skipped a beat. It was Alex—his old friend from the orphanage. Jake remembered him vividly: Alex had the power to absorb anything he touched. They had been close back in the orphanage, and Jake remembered Alex getting adopted by a family when they were still young.
Jake's excitement was palpable, but it was quickly overshadowed by a twinge of sadness. He had promised Alex he would visit and try to persuade his new family to let him see his old friend again. Unfortunately, life had taken a different turn, and that promise was never fulfilled.
Jake stood frozen for a moment, his eyes locked on Alex. Alex, who had just turned around, looked equally confused. Despite the years, Jake's face was unmistakable. He hadn't changed much since their time at the orphanage. Alex's gaze shifted to Beast Boy, who was casually browsing through the arcade games. There was a flicker of recognition—and something else—in Alex's eyes as he scrutinized Beast Boy.
Beast Boy noticed the exchange and nudged Jake. "Hey, man, you okay?"
Jake blinked, snapping out of his daze. "Yeah, I… I think that's someone I used to know."
With a deep breath, Jake approached Alex, trying to steady his nerves. Alex was eyeing him with a mix of curiosity and caution.
"Alex?" Jake called out tentatively.
Alex turned fully to face Jake, his expression shifting from confusion to recognition. "Jake? Is that really you?" His voice carried a note of surprise.
"Yeah, it's me. It's been… a long time," Jake said, his voice carrying a hint of nostalgia.
Alex's gaze softened, but a shadow of old memories lingered in his eyes. "I didn't expect to see you here. I thought you'd be… different. You look just like you did back then."
Jake forced a smile. "I guess some things never change. How are you? How's your new family?"
Alex shifted uncomfortably. "They're fine. They're good people. But things have been... complicated."
Jake's heart sank a little. "I'm sorry I couldn't keep that promise. I wanted to come and see you."
Alex's face tightened, but he quickly masked it with a smile. "It's okay. Life happens, right? I'm doing well now. Just... adjusting."
Beast Boy, sensing the tension, decided to jump in with a friendly grin. "Hey, I'm Beast Boy. Nice to meet you, Alex. You into games?"
Alex's eyes flicked over to Beast Boy with a hint of suspicion before he forced another smile. "Yeah, I'm into games. Nice to meet you too."
Jake noticed the guarded look Alex gave Beast Boy. He could sense that their reunion wasn't going to be as simple as he hoped. "How about we catch up over some games?" Jake suggested, trying to ease the awkwardness.
Alex hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Sure, let's play a few games."
As they moved towards the game machines, Jake couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Alex's demeanor than he was letting on. He glanced at Beast Boy, who was trying to break the ice with casual chatter, and hoped that, despite the tension, they could salvage a bit of their old friendship.
For now, Jake focused on the games and the company, trying to push away the lingering uncertainties and hoping that their reunion would bring some clarity to the past.
Jake and Alex settled into the race car game, their competitive spirits rekindling as they navigated the virtual tracks. The arcade noises faded into the background as they focused on the game.
"Remember when we used to play games like this back at the orphanage?" Alex asked, his tone a mix of nostalgia and camaraderie.
"Yeah, I do. It's good to see you again, Alex," Jake replied, his eyes scanning the screen as he maneuvered his car around sharp turns. "So, you mentioned you saw me on TV. How did you know I was one of the Titans?"
Alex chuckled, glancing at Jake with a mischievous smile. "It's not hard to figure out when you're out there fighting villains. Plus, you didn't exactly have a mask on in the news footage."
Jake's eyes widened in surprise. "Wait, you saw me on TV without a mask? But—"
He turned towards Beast Boy, who was still browsing through the arcade games. "Hey, Beast Boy! Did you guys forget to make me a mask?"
Beast Boy, who was busy trying to pick a game, looked up, startled. "Oh, right! I guess that slipped our minds. We were so caught up with everything else."
Jake groaned, feeling a mix of frustration and embarrassment. "Seriously? No wonder Alex recognized me so easily."
Alex looked between Jake and Beast Boy, raising an eyebrow. "Seems like you've got a bit of a superhero fashion crisis going on. Maybe next time, you should remind your team to get you a mask."
Jake rubbed his temples. "Yeah, I'll definitely do that. I didn't think it would be such a big deal, but I guess it is."
As they continued playing, Alex's expression softened, and he glanced over at Jake with a more genuine smile. "Look, I didn't mean to bring up bad memories or make things awkward. It's just surprising to see you like this."
Jake sighed, his competitive edge fading as he enjoyed the moment of normalcy. "I get it. Things have been... complicated. But it's good to see you again. And, honestly, I'm glad we're catching up."
Alex nodded, his gaze shifting to the screen as he focused on the game. "Me too. It's nice to reconnect, even if it's under weird circumstances."
Beast Boy, sensing the need for a change of subject, jumped in. "So, what's your high score, Alex? Let's see if you can beat me!"
The tension eased as they shifted back to the game, the friendly competition providing a welcome distraction. Jake felt a small sense of relief as he shared laughs and competitive banter with Alex and Beast Boy. It wasn't the perfect reunion he had hoped for, but it was a start.
Later that day, Jake, Beast Boy, and Alex were strolling through the city, enjoying the afternoon together. They chatted and laughed as they walked, but their lighthearted mood shifted when Alex suddenly stopped by an ATM machine.
"Hold on a sec, guys," Alex said, his tone shifting as he fished around in his pockets. He frowned as he realized he was running low on cash. "I think I might be running out of money here."
Jake and Beast Boy exchanged curious glances. "Everything okay?" Jake asked.
Alex nodded, but then he noticed a wire hanging loose from a nearby light post. An idea seemed to spark in his eyes. "Yeah, just give me a minute."
Without further explanation, Alex walked over to the light post, grabbing the wire and connecting it to the ATM. He took a deep breath, and with a determined look, he began to channel electricity through the wire. The ATM machine buzzed and sparked, the display flashing erratically as Alex's powers surged through it.
"Whoa, what's he doing?" Beast Boy asked, his eyes wide with surprise.
Jake watched in disbelief as the ATM machine started to shake and emit a loud humming noise. "Alex, what's going on?"
A few moments later, the machine whirred loudly and then began to spit out cash in a steady stream. Bills and coins poured out, scattering onto the sidewalk. Alex looked on with a satisfied grin as he gathered the money.
"Whoa, hold up! Are you seriously hacking an ATM?" Jake exclaimed, his shock evident.
Alex shrugged nonchalantly, stuffing the cash into his pockets. "Just a little trick I picked up. Didn't want to run out of cash while we're hanging out."
Beast Boy's eyes widened in concern. "Dude, that's illegal! You can't just zap an ATM like that. What if someone sees?"
Alex chuckled, clearly unfazed. "Relax, no one's paying attention. We're in and out before anyone even notices."
Jake shook his head, trying to process the situation. "Alex, this isn't the kind of thing you should be doing. What if someone finds out?"
Alex rolled his eyes, but his smile remained. "Look, it's not like I'm hurting anyone. Just a little extra cash to make the day more fun."
Jake's frustration grew. "It's not just about the money. It's about doing the right thing."
Beast Boy nodded in agreement. "Yeah, man. Even if you have powers, you've got to use them responsibly."
Alex sighed, the playful grin fading from his face. "I get it. Maybe I went a little overboard. I just didn't want to be short on cash, that's all."
Jake tried to soften his tone. "I understand that, but there are better ways to handle this. Let's just... try to keep things on the right track, okay?"
Alex nodded, looking a bit more serious. "Alright, I'll keep that in mind. Sorry if I made things awkward."
With the situation diffused, the trio continued their walk, the mood a bit more subdued but still friendly. Jake and Beast Boy hoped that Alex's actions would be a wake-up call, while Alex seemed to be reflecting on the conversation, understanding the importance of responsibility and the impact of his actions.
As the boys continued their walk, chatting and enjoying the rest of their day, Alex's attention was suddenly caught by a group of guys gathered in a nearby alleyway. His eyes narrowed as he recognized one of them—an old acquaintance who owed him money from a past disagreement.
"Hey, hold up for a second," Alex said, his tone shifting as he spotted the group. "I need to take care of something."
Before Jake or Beast Boy could react, Alex moved swiftly towards the alley. As he approached, he tapped his hand on the ground, his eyes focused intently. The ground responded to his touch, forming a thick layer of cement that quickly spread beneath his hand.
He raised his hand and shot a cement spike from the ground, which rocketed towards the man he recognized. The spike struck the guy with precision, pinning him firmly against the wall. The guy's eyes widened in shock and fear as he found himself trapped.
"What the—?" Jake exclaimed, running to catch up with Alex. "Alex, what are you doing?"
Beast Boy, who had been walking behind Jake, caught up and saw the scene unfold. "Dude, seriously? You can't just attack people like that!"
Alex, visibly fuming, took a menacing step toward the pinned man. "He's owed me this for a long time. It's time he paid up!"
Jake rushed forward, placing a hand on Alex's shoulder. "Alex, stop! This isn't the way to handle things. You're going too far."
In a sudden burst of anger, Alex shrugged off Jake's hand and pushed him forcefully. Jake stumbled back and was slammed against the wall by the impact. Rubble from the surrounding area fell on top of him, partially burying him in debris.
"Jake!" Beast Boy yelled, his eyes wide with panic. He immediately shifted into a tiger, growling fiercely as he lunged towards Alex.
Alex's anger seemed to boil over as he prepared to take more drastic action. "Stay out of this!"
Beast Boy, now in tiger form, roared and leaped at Alex, trying to distract him and protect Jake. The two began to clash, with Beast Boy swiping at Alex and attempting to force him back.
Meanwhile, Jake struggled beneath the rubble, trying to push the debris off himself. He coughed and groaned as he managed to free himself enough to see the unfolding fight.
"Alex, stop!" Jake shouted, his voice strained. "This isn't the answer!"
Alex, momentarily distracted by the commotion, hesitated. Beast Boy's relentless attacks had forced him into a defensive position, and the realization of his actions began to sink in.
With a final roar, Beast Boy managed to push Alex back, giving Jake the chance to crawl out from beneath the rubble. He staggered to his feet, brushing off dust and debris.
"Alex, you need to calm down," Jake said, his voice firm but weary. "This is not how you solve your problems."
Alex's expression softened slightly as he looked at the damage he'd caused. The anger in his eyes began to fade, replaced by a sense of regret. "I... I didn't mean for things to get out of hand."
Beast Boy shifted back to his human form, looking concerned but relieved. "We need to get out of here before things get worse. This isn't the way to handle things, Alex."
Alex nodded, taking a deep breath and starting to regain his composure. "You're right. I'm sorry. I didn't think it through."
Jake and Beast Boy exchanged glances, both relieved that Alex seemed to be coming to his senses. As they left the alleyway, the tension of the moment began to dissipate, but the impact of the day's events left a mark on all of them.
As Jake, Beast Boy, and Alex walked away from the alleyway, a heavy silence hung between them. Alex's demeanor seemed to shift, and he glanced down at a small device strapped to his wrist. A glint of determination crossed his face as he remembered the plan he'd discussed with a mysterious figure.
Without warning, Alex placed his hands on the ground. The earth around him responded, encasing his body in a stone-like shell. He began to glow with a dark, intense energy as he transformed, his body surrounded by a shimmering, stone-like aura.
Suddenly, with a swift motion, Alex lashed out at Beast Boy. The blow sent Beast Boy crashing into a nearby building, the impact causing the wall to buckle. Jake's eyes widened in shock and horror as he witnessed the attack.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Jake yelled, running over to where Beast Boy had fallen. "That's my brother!"
Alex cracked his neck and stared at Jake with a cold, unfeeling gaze. "Oh, I see. Things have changed since you went and turned into a baby. I thought I was your brother. Guess not."
Jake's heart sank at the betrayal. "Alex, what are you talking about? Why are you doing this?"
Alex's expression hardened as he took a menacing step towards Jake. "Enough talk. Hand over the Omnitrix, or things are going to get a lot worse."
Jake took a step back, his mind racing. "You can't be serious. Why do you want the Omnitrix?"
Alex's eyes narrowed, his tone harsh. "Because I need it to get paid. And I'm not leaving without it."
Jake's hands clenched into fists as he faced his former friend. "I can't let you take it. Not like this."
Beast Boy, having recovered from the impact, struggled to his feet and looked at Jake with concern. "Are you okay? We need to get out of here!"
Alex's stone armor seemed to pulse with energy, and he prepared to attack again. "If you won't give it to me willingly, then I'll just have to take it by force."
Jake glanced at Beast Boy, who nodded in agreement. With a determined look, Jake prepared to defend himself and his friend. "Beast Boy, get ready. We're going to need to work together to stop him."
As the confrontation heated up, the stakes were higher than ever. Jake and Beast Boy knew they had to act fast to prevent Alex from getting his hands on the Omnitrix and causing more harm.
The fight between Alex, Beast Boy, and Jake was escalating, the tension palpable in the air. Alex charged with his stone-covered fist, his eyes gleaming with determination. Beast Boy quickly shifted into a massive gorilla, catching Alex's punch in mid-air with a powerful grip, the force of the impact shaking the ground beneath them.
Jake, knowing he needed to act fast, quickly activated the Omnitrix. The green core popped up, the dial spinning rapidly as Jake's heart raced. He cycled through various aliens, his thumb hovering over one in particular. His eyes locked on the icon he needed, and he slammed his hand down on it with a shout.
A bright green flash enveloped Jake as his transformation began. First, his limbs stretched, his muscles bulging and thick gray fur began sprouting all over his body. His spine cracked and realigned as his legs elongated, becoming digitigrade with sharp, gleaming claws. His hands transformed, morphing into massive, clawed paws. Green energy crackled along his arms, and furry tendrils emerged from his back, twitching with raw power. His face stretched out, forming a wolf-like muzzle that opened wide, splitting into four sections, revealing rows of sharp, gleaming teeth. His mane grew out in a wild flow, now imbued with a deep, feral energy.
The final touch was the white and green jumpsuit forming around his transformed body, accented by green wristbands and a glowing belt around his waist. His now spiked elbows and shoulders added to the fearsome appearance, making him look every bit the powerful, predatory alien.
As Blitzwolfer, Jake let out a mighty howl, the sound amplified by his quadra-lobed muzzle. The sonic blast rippled through the air, shaking the ground and forcing Alex to take a step back. Blitzwolfer advanced, launching himself forward with a powerful swipe of his claws, but Alex was quicker than expected.
Alex ducked under the swing, his hand glowing with absorbed energy as he slammed his fist into Blitzwolfer's side, sending him crashing into a nearby building. Jake howled in pain, the concrete around him crumbling as he struggled to get up. Alex cracked his neck, a confident smirk spreading across his face. "Come on, Jake. Is that all you've got?"
Beast Boy, still in gorilla form, charged at Alex, but Alex was ready. His hands glowed as he touched the ground, turning the pavement beneath him into a wave of stone spikes. They shot up from the ground, striking Beast Boy in the chest and sending him flying backward into a streetlamp.
Jake growled, pushing himself up, his claws digging into the ground. "What the hell is wrong with you, Alex?" he shouted, rushing at him again. Blitzwolfer swung his claw, aiming for Alex's torso, but Alex blocked it with his stone-covered arm, deflecting the blow.
"I thought I was your brother, Jake," Alex sneered, delivering a solid punch to Blitzwolfer's jaw. The force of the blow made Jake stagger, but he recovered quickly, launching a counterattack with a powerful howl that sent a green, concussive blast straight into Alex's chest. The blast knocked Alex off his feet, but he rolled with it, landing on his feet in a crouch.
"You were!" Jake growled. "But you're not the same person anymore!"
Alex's smirk widened as he pulled out a small device from his pocket. "Oh, I'm still the same person, Jake. I'm just getting paid now." Before Jake could react, Alex activated the device, and a strange pulse of energy shot out, hitting Blitzwolfer square in the chest.
Suddenly, the Omnitrix on Jake's chest started beeping loudly, faster than usual. His transformation began to destabilize, his fur receding, his claws shrinking, and his body slowly turning back to normal. Within moments, Jake was back in his human form, panting and exhausted. "What… what did you do?" Jake asked, his voice shaky.
Alex grinned, holding up the device. "Let's just say I've got some new toys. This little gadget? It speeds up the Omnitrix timer, meaning you're all out of tricks for a while, buddy."
Jake's eyes widened in shock. "No way…"
"Now," Alex continued, cracking his knuckles, "let's finish this."
Beast Boy, regaining his composure, shifted back into a tiger and pounced at Alex. But Alex, his body still covered in stone, slammed his fist into the ground, sending a shockwave of cement spikes up from the earth. They wrapped around Beast Boy like a trap, pinning him to the ground before he could react.
Jake, desperate, ran toward Beast Boy, but Alex was faster. He grabbed Jake by the throat with his stone-covered hand and slammed him against the wall, holding him there effortlessly. "You're not a hero, Jake," Alex hissed, his face inches from Jake's. "You're just a kid playing dress-up. Now, hand over the Omnitrix, or things get a lot worse."
Jake struggled in Alex's grip, gasping for air as he tried to push him away, but Alex's strength was overwhelming. Beast Boy, still trapped in the cement spikes, growled and thrashed, trying to break free, but every movement made the spikes dig deeper into his fur.
"You're working for someone, aren't you?" Jake choked out, still fighting against Alex's grip. "Who is it? Why do they want the Omnitrix?"
Alex smirked, tightening his hold. "That's for me to know, and for you to never find out."
Jake's mind raced as he tried to figure out a way out of this. He was out of time, out of transformations, and Beast Boy was trapped. It seemed like all hope was lost, but Jake wasn't about to give up yet.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a bird-shaped projectile soared through the air, glowing with bright energy. It collided with Alex's stone-covered hand, embedding itself into his arm before exploding with a loud *bang*. The blast sent Alex crashing into a nearby wall, knocking chunks of stone from his body as he groaned in pain.
Jake fell to the ground, gasping for air as Beast Boy finally managed to free himself from the cement trap. The two heroes looked up in shock, eyes wide as they saw Robin, Starfire, Raven, and Cyborg emerging from the smoke.
Robin, standing in the lead with his staff at the ready, glanced back at the others. "We got here just in time. Looks like things were getting out of control."
Starfire floated next to him, her hands glowing with bright green energy. "Friends, are you all right?" she asked with concern in her voice, her eyes scanning Jake and Beast Boy.
Beast Boy groaned, shifting back into his human form as he rubbed his aching arms. "I've been better, but I'm good. Thanks for the save, dude."
Jake, still catching his breath, managed to stand up, though his legs felt shaky. "I thought... I thought of you with that mission.
Cyborg, standing tall with his arm cannon charged and ready, gave Jake a reassuring smile. "We finished early and got word from the security cams that something was going down. Figured you might need backup."
Raven, her eyes glowing faintly with dark energy, hovered next to Cyborg. "Turns out, we were right. This guy doesn't look like your average street punk."
Alex groaned as he pushed himself off the ground, glaring at the Titans through the smoke. "Great, more of you… this just keeps getting better and better," he spat, his stone-covered body slowly regenerating.
Robin stepped forward, pointing his staff at Alex. "Whoever you are, stand down now. You're outnumbered and outmatched."
Alex grinned, his eyes flashing with defiance as his body fully reformed. "You think numbers are gonna save you? I've taken on worse than you before. And as for being outmatched? I've got more power than you can even imagine."
Starfire floated next to Robin, her fists still glowing with power. "You are not the only one with great strength. Stand down before things escalate further."
Jake, still reeling from the earlier fight, stepped forward, shaking his head in disbelief. "Alex, why are you doing this? You don't have to go down this path! You were my best friend… we can fix this. Just stop!"
Alex sneered, brushing the dust off his jacket as he looked at Jake. "Best friend? We were brothers once, but not anymore. You've changed, Jake, and so have I. Now, all I want is that Omnitrix, and I'm not leaving without it."
Cyborg's cannon charged up, humming with power as he took aim at Alex. "That ain't happening. The Omnitrix is off-limits. You've already hurt my friends—don't make this worse for yourself."
Alex chuckled darkly, tapping the strange device on his wrist again. "You really think you can stop me? I've got all the power I need." He stomped the ground, sending shockwaves of stone and concrete shooting toward the Titans.
Robin dodged nimbly to the side, flipping over the debris. "Titans, go!" he shouted.
Starfire unleashed a volley of starbolts at Alex, but he blocked them with a wall of stone. Cyborg fired a sonic blast from his arm cannon, but Alex absorbed the impact, his body glowing faintly with energy as he grew stronger.
Raven raised her hands, summoning a dark tendril of energy that wrapped around Alex's legs, but with a quick gesture, he shattered it, causing her to wince as the backlash hit her.
Jake, still untransformed and out of options, watched helplessly as the Titans engaged Alex. He looked at Beast Boy, who was readying himself to join the fight again. "We have to help them!"
Beast Boy nodded, morphing into a rhino and charging at Alex's side. But Alex, moving faster than they expected, caught Beast Boy mid-charge and threw him across the street with a stone-covered hand. "Nice try," Alex growled.
Cyborg shouted, "Beast Boy!" as he leaped into action, launching another sonic blast to protect his fallen teammate.
Meanwhile, Robin landed a few swift strikes with his staff, but Alex blocked each one with ease, his stone-covered fists absorbing the blows. "You're going to have to try harder than that," Alex said as he landed a solid punch, sending Robin skidding across the pavement.
Jake's heart raced as he watched his friends struggle against his former best friend. He clenched his fists, wishing he could transform. The Omnitrix beeped weakly, still out of commission thanks to the device Alex used. He had to do something—anything.
Suddenly, Alex's device flashed, and the stone covering his body cracked for a moment, exposing the device on his wrist. Jake's eyes widened as he realized it was a weakness. "Robin!" Jake shouted, "His wrist! That device on his wrist—it's controlling his powers!"
Robin heard him, quickly locking eyes with Jake. "Got it!" he replied, flipping back onto his feet. He signaled to the others, "Focus on the device—bring him down!"
The Titans regrouped, forming a tight formation as they prepared for their next attack.
As the Titans charged at Alex, their attacks focused on the device on his wrist, but every punch, kick, and strike was blocked by Alex's stone-covered body. His power seemed impenetrable as he fended off their every move with ease, his grin growing more smug with each passing second. Robin swung his staff in rapid succession, trying to catch the device with a well-aimed strike, but Alex deflected it with a solid block, sending Robin staggering back.
"Nice try, but it's going to take more than that to stop me!" Alex shouted as he slammed his fist into the ground, sending a wave of stone spikes toward the Titans, forcing them to scatter.
Meanwhile, Jake glanced down at the Omnitrix on his wrist, feeling the faint vibration of it recharging. He smiled as the familiar green glow returned, and the device was fully powered again. Alex's plan to drain the Omnitrix had failed, and now Jake was ready to fight back.
With a determined look in his eyes, Jake slammed down on the Omnitrix dial. The core popped up, spinning rapidly through the available alien transformations. With a burst of green light, his body began to shift and morph in a spectacular transformation sequence.
First, Jake's body began to expand and shift, his skin turning into brightly colored blocks. His arms and legs stretched and thickened, with large, chunky blocks forming at his joints. Red, blue, and yellow segments locked into place as his torso grew, becoming solid and boxy. His feet turned into stubby block-like structures while his hands transformed into massive, blocky appendages that balanced his now gorilla-like frame.
As the light faded, Jake stood tall, his body completely rearranged into a new alien. His entire form was made of interlocking blocks, some smooth and some studded, giving him an almost toy-like appearance. His massive arms were poised for action, and his feet were planted firmly on the ground. The Omnitrix symbol glowed brightly on his chest as he finished the transformation.
This was *Bloxx*.
Jake, now in his new alien form, flexed his massive blocky hands and grinned. "Time to block out your plans, Alex!"
Without wasting any time, Bloxx charged forward, his blocky feet slamming into the ground with heavy thuds. Alex threw a punch, but Bloxx quickly shifted his body, turning into a wall of blocks that absorbed the impact. The force of Alex's punch sent chunks of stone flying, but Bloxx instantly reformed, his blocks snapping back into place as if nothing had happened.
"What the—?" Alex stammered, confused by Jake's new alien form.
Before Alex could react, Bloxx shifted his body again, this time into a massive dome of blocks, trapping Alex inside. Alex pounded on the walls, but every hit only seemed to make the dome stronger as Bloxx reinforced it with more blocks.
"Let's see how you like being boxed in!" Bloxx taunted.
Alex growled in frustration and summoned his stone powers, smashing through part of the dome. But Bloxx was ready. As soon as Alex broke free, Bloxx shifted again, transforming into a catapult made entirely of blocks. With a snap, he launched a massive barrage of blocks straight at Alex, sending him crashing back into the street.
"Stay down!" Bloxx shouted, reforming into his default gorilla-like shape. He rushed toward Alex again, but Alex was quick to counter. He tapped the device on his wrist, sending a surge of energy through his body that made his stone form even stronger.
"You think this is over, Jake? I've still got the upper hand!" Alex roared.
With a powerful leap, Alex launched himself toward Bloxx, his stone fists ready to strike. But Bloxx, quick on his feet, detached part of his arm, allowing Alex's punch to pass through harmlessly. Bloxx then reformed his arm, swinging it around and landing a solid hit on Alex's torso, sending him skidding across the ground.
Robin, seeing an opening, called out, "Titans, now! Aim for the wrist device!"
The Titans regrouped. Starfire fired a barrage of starbolts at Alex, while Cyborg let loose a sonic blast. Raven summoned dark energy tendrils to hold Alex in place. But Alex wasn't done yet. He used his powers to summon a stone barrier around himself, blocking the attacks.
"Not this time!" Alex growled, but his focus wavered. The Titans' relentless assault began to wear him down.
Bloxx saw his chance. With a quick motion, he shapeshifted again, this time into a massive wall, trapping Alex against the stone he had summoned.
"Give it up, Alex!" Bloxx shouted, his voice echoing from within the blocky form. "You're not going to win this fight!"
But Alex wasn't giving up. He tapped the device on his wrist again, and suddenly, Bloxx's body felt heavy. Jake's eyes widened in shock as the Omnitrix began to beep. The device Alex used was causing the timer to drain faster than usual.
"No way…" Jake muttered. "I'm running out of time."
Before Jake could react, Alex broke free, his stone fist swinging upward and slamming into Bloxx's form, shattering part of his body into scattered blocks. The Omnitrix beeped rapidly, and Jake felt his form shifting again—he was being forced back to human form.
In a flash of red light, Jake reverted back to himself, stumbling back as he gasped for air. The Omnitrix was drained, and he was vulnerable.
Alex grinned wickedly, his eyes glowing with power. "Looks like your time's up, Jake. Now, hand over the Omnitrix."
Beast Boy, still recovering from the earlier attack, struggled to stand, his eyes narrowing in anger. "You're not taking anything from him!" he shouted, but before he could act, Alex tapped into his powers again.
With a quick motion, Alex used the stone beneath their feet to form tendrils of concrete that wrapped around both Jake and Beast Boy, trapping them in place. They struggled, but the stone was too strong, binding their arms and legs.
"Now, you're both mine," Alex said coldly as he walked toward Jake, the Omnitrix glinting on his wrist.
Just as Alex reached out for the Omnitrix, a sudden blur moved between him and Jake. Robin's foot connected squarely with Alex's chest, sending him stumbling back. The force of the kick broke his concentration, causing the stone tendrils that held Jake and Beast Boy to loosen slightly. Robin landed gracefully, twirling his staff, ready for a fight.
"You're not laying a hand on him!" Robin snapped, breaking his staff into two smaller batons. He twirled them with precision, his eyes locked on Alex.
Alex gritted his teeth, anger flaring in his eyes. "You're just delaying the inevitable, Robin. You can't stop me!" He charged forward, his stone-covered fist swinging in a wide arc toward Robin.
Robin ducked under the swing, rolling to the side and retaliating with a swift strike to Alex's midsection. The blow barely phased Alex, his stone form absorbing most of the impact, but Robin kept moving. He leaped back to create distance, using his agility to stay out of Alex's reach.
While Robin kept Alex busy, Cyborg, Starfire, and Raven rushed toward Jake and Beast Boy. Cyborg immediately assessed the situation, his arm shifting into a sonic cannon. "Hang tight, I'm blasting you guys free!"
Raven's eyes glowed with dark energy as she muttered, "Azarath Metrion Zinthos," sending shadowy tendrils to wrap around the stone bindings, pulling them apart. Starfire hovered above, firing precision starbolts to weaken the stone further.
The stone tendrils crumbled under the combined force of Cyborg's blast, Raven's magic, and Starfire's energy, freeing Jake and Beast Boy. Jake dropped to the ground, breathing heavily, his body still recovering from the Omnitrix's forced timeout.
"Thanks," Jake muttered, rubbing his wrists as he looked at the Titans. "We have to stop him. That device he's using—it's speeding up the Omnitrix's timeout."
Starfire landed next to Jake, concern in her eyes. "Do not worry, friend Jake. We will handle him."
Meanwhile, Robin and Alex's fight intensified. Alex threw punch after punch, but Robin dodged every blow with expert precision. When Alex slammed his fist into the ground, Robin used the distraction to leap over him, landing a series of swift strikes on Alex's back and legs.
Alex growled in frustration, his stone-covered skin cracking slightly under the relentless attacks. "You're just as annoying as ever, Robin!"
Robin smirked, twirling his batons again. "That's the idea." He lunged forward, aiming for the device on Alex's wrist, but Alex was ready. With a surge of power, he tapped into the ground, sending a shockwave of stone pillars erupting upward. Robin barely managed to dodge, flipping backward to avoid being impaled.
Cyborg, now free to act, joined the fray, firing his sonic cannon at Alex. The blast hit him squarely in the chest, sending him staggering back again. "Yo, stone-face! How about you pick on someone your own size?"
Alex snarled, recovering quickly. "You're all just wasting your time!" He slammed his hands into the ground, absorbing more energy from the earth itself. His stone form grew thicker, the cracks healing as he powered up.
"Raven, now!" Robin shouted.
Raven hovered in the air, her eyes glowing a bright white. She chanted her spell again, summoning dark energy to bind Alex's legs, holding him in place. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!"
Alex struggled against the bindings, but the more he fought, the tighter they became. Starfire flew in, unleashing a barrage of starbolts aimed directly at the device on Alex's wrist. One of the bolts hit its mark, sparking the device and causing it to malfunction.
"No!" Alex roared, his stone form beginning to destabilize.
Jake, seeing the opening, glanced down at the Omnitrix. The recharge was complete. He quickly activated it again, the core of the device glowing bright green. The dial spun rapidly before landing on the next alien. With a confident grin, Jake slammed down on the Omnitrix.
In an instant, his body began to transform. The green energy enveloped him, and his form shifted once more. His skin became segmented and hardened, transforming into individual red, blue, and yellow blocks. His body expanded, turning into a massive gorilla-like creature made entirely of building blocks. His arms and legs became blocky and powerful, with large hands that looked capable of crushing anything. The Omnitrix symbol glowed brightly on his chest as he completed the transformation.
This was *Bloxx*.
Jake, now in his alien form, flexed his massive blocky arms and smirked. "Round two, Alex."
Before Alex could react, Bloxx charged forward, his feet slamming into the ground with every step. He transformed mid-run, turning into a giant wall of blocks. Alex threw a punch, but it collided with Bloxx's massive form, barely making a dent. Jake quickly reformed, towering over Alex, and swung his blocky arm with full force, sending Alex flying backward into a crumbling wall.
Alex struggled to his feet, but before he could retaliate, Bloxx shifted again, turning into a massive catapult. With a flick of his arm, he launched a barrage of blocks at Alex, each one hitting with the force of a wrecking ball.
"Give it up, Alex!" Bloxx shouted, his voice booming. "You're outnumbered and outmatched."
Alex, beaten and exhausted, staggered to his feet, his stone form crumbling. The device on his wrist sparked and fizzled, completely fried by Starfire's attack. He glared at the Titans, his once-cocky demeanor replaced by desperation.
"This isn't over," Alex growled through gritted teeth. He tapped the device one last time, sending a surge of energy through his body, but it backfired, causing him to collapse to the ground, unconscious.
The battle was over.
The Titans gathered around Jake, who reverted back to his human form. Robin stood over Alex, checking to make sure he was out cold. "Good job, everyone. That could've gone a lot worse."
Jake let out a sigh of relief, rubbing his wrist where the Omnitrix sat. "Yeah, but I've got a feeling this isn't the last we've seen of Alex."
Beast Boy, finally recovered, walked over and clapped Jake on the back. "You did great, dude. Bloxx was awesome!"
Jake smiled but couldn't shake the unease that lingered. "Thanks, BB. But Alex... he's more dangerous than I thought. We have to figure out who's behind that device he had."
Robin nodded, his expression serious. "Agreed. We'll get some answers from him once he wakes up."
As they stood together, the Titans knew this battle was just the beginning of something bigger, and they'd need to be ready for whatever came next.
Back at Titans Tower, the atmosphere was tense. Alex sat in the interrogation room, his wrists bound in high-tech handcuffs designed to neutralize his abilities. The Titans stood around the room, arms crossed and expressions hard, but Alex remained defiant. No matter what questions they asked about the device, he stayed silent, glaring at them with the same stubborn resolve.
Robin leaned against the wall, his patience wearing thin. "You're going to tell us where you got that device, Alex. You might as well talk now, or things will only get worse for you."
Alex smirked, shaking his head. "You really think I'm scared of you, Robin? You don't know who you're dealing with."
Starfire floated just above the ground, her eyes glowing faintly. "We are trying to help you, friend Alex. Please tell us where the device came from."
But Alex simply turned his head, refusing to answer. The room fell silent as the Titans exchanged frustrated glances. Finally, Jake, who had been standing quietly in the corner, stepped forward.
"Alex," Jake said softly, his voice carrying more emotion than the others. "What happened to you?"
Alex's eyes flickered with recognition as Jake approached, but he quickly looked away.
"You used to be a good friend," Jake continued, his tone filled with sadness. "You were like a brother to me. What changed? Why are you doing this?"
For a brief moment, something softened in Alex's expression. He clenched his fists, staring down at the floor. "Jake, I—"
Just as Alex seemed ready to speak, an ear-splitting sound filled the air. The lights in the tower flickered, and an alarm blared throughout the building.
"Intruder alert!" Cyborg shouted, pulling up the security feed on a nearby console. On the screen, they saw a dark figure outside the tower, moving too fast to get a clear visual. Before anyone could react, the wall beside the interrogation room exploded inward, sending debris flying.
Everyone shielded their eyes as a blur of black and silver shot through the hole in the wall. In the blink of an eye, a strange alien figure, sleek and bat-like with large wings and glowing red eyes, landed in the room. It wielded a set of sharp, glowing batarangs in its hands.
The alien, identified by its menacing appearance and swift movements, wasted no time. It launched a barrage of glowing batarangs at the Titans, forcing them to scatter. Robin deflected a few with his staff, while Raven threw up a dark energy shield to protect herself and the others.
"What the—" Beast Boy started, transforming into a bear to defend himself from the flying blades.
Jake's heart raced as he watched the alien move with unnatural speed. Before any of them could react, the creature reached Alex, grabbing him by the arm. Alex, his eyes widening in shock, didn't resist as the alien pulled him from his chair.
"Alex!" Jake shouted, trying to push through the chaos, but it was too late.
With a powerful flap of its wings, the alien launched itself into the air, carrying Alex with it. They smashed through the ceiling, disappearing into the sky. The Titans could only watch as Alex and his mysterious rescuer vanished into the distance, becoming nothing more than a speck against the horizon.
Robin cursed under his breath, quickly tapping his communicator. "Cyborg, track them! Get a location!"
Cyborg's fingers flew across the keyboard as he accessed the tower's radar system. "They're fast, man. I'm trying, but... damn, they're already off the grid."
Jake stood there, frozen, his mind racing. He had been so close—so close to getting through to Alex, to finding out what had happened to his friend. But now, that chance had slipped away.
Raven floated over to him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "We'll get him back," she said softly. "Whatever's going on, we'll stop it."
Jake clenched his fists, his heart heavy. "Yeah... but whoever's behind this, they're not going to make it easy."
Robin turned to the rest of the team, his face set in determination. "We need answers. Whoever that was, they're working with Alex, and they've got some serious tech on their side. We need to find out who's pulling the strings—and fast."
Starfire floated near the hole in the wall, staring into the distance where Alex and the alien had disappeared. "Wherever they have taken him... we will follow. And we will bring him back."
Beast Boy, now back in his human form, punched his palm. "Yeah! We've dealt with bad guys before. They won't know what hit 'em."
But Jake didn't feel as optimistic. He glanced down at the Omnitrix on his wrist, the faint green glow of its core reminding him of the battles yet to come. He knew this wasn't just about stopping Alex anymore. Something bigger was at play, and they were all caught in the middle of it.
"We'll need to be ready for anything," Jake said, his voice serious. "Whoever that was, they knew exactly when to strike. And they're not going to stop coming for us."
Robin nodded in agreement. "Then we'll be ready. Titans, let's regroup. We've got a fight ahead of us."
As the Titans prepared for whatever came next, Jake couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to get much worse.
Meanwhile, in a secluded, dimly lit warehouse, the bat-like creature descended gracefully to the ground, releasing its hold on Alex. As it landed, a sharp whistle pierced the air, echoing through the quiet space. The sound caused the bat-creature to twitch, and within moments, it reverted to its original form, a hulking, monstrous figure with a red collar around its neck—Zed, Kyber's loyal beast.
Zed obediently lumbered over to a tall figure standing in the shadows, the collar glowing faintly. From the darkness, Kyber the Huntsman emerged, his cold, calculating eyes fixed on Alex. He moved with purpose, stepping forward to inspect Alex before reaching out and swiftly removing the device from his arm.
"You did your part," Kyber said, his voice low and menacing, as he examined the now powerless device. "But let's not pretend this was about you."
Alex rubbed his sore wrist where the device had been, glancing warily at Kyber. "I got what you wanted. Now, where's my payment?" he demanded, his voice holding a mixture of desperation and anger.
Kyber let out a dark chuckle, tucking the device away into his cloak. "You're in no position to bargain, boy. You failed. The Omnitrix is still on the kid's wrist, and you're empty-handed."
Alex's eyes narrowed as he took a step forward, clenching his fists. "You didn't say anything about fighting the whole team. I did what I could."
Kyber's expression darkened as he drew closer to Alex, towering over him. "Excuses." He glanced at Zed, who growled softly in response. "You're fortunate I don't have Zed finish you off right here. But you still have your uses."
Alex swallowed, his bravado fading as he realized how much danger he was in. "What do you want from me?"
Kyber smirked, placing a hand on Alex's shoulder with a vice-like grip. "You know Jake. His habits. His weaknesses. I don't need your strength—I need your knowledge. You'll help me get that Omnitrix... or you'll wish you stayed with the Titans."
Alex flinched under Kyber's touch, knowing he was trapped. "Fine... but what happens after?"
Kyber released his grip and turned away, walking toward the warehouse's exit with Zed following closely behind. "That depends on how useful you are, Alex. For now, consider yourself on borrowed time."
As Kyber and Zed disappeared into the shadows, Alex stood there, rubbing his wrists and feeling a chill run down his spine. He had no choice now but to go along with Kyber's plan, but deep down, he wondered if there was still a way out—a way to make things right with Jake.
For now, though, he was in too deep to turn back.
Later that night, in the dimly lit halls of Titans Tower, Robin was in his room, training relentlessly. His fists flew at the punching bag, each hit reverberating through the room as sweat dripped down his face. His mind raced, replaying the events of the day—the fight with Alex, Jake's reckless actions, and the argument that had left both of them on edge.
Suddenly, there was a soft knock on the door. Robin paused, breathing heavily, and turned toward the sound. He wiped his face with a towel and called out, "Come in."
The door creaked open slowly, revealing Jake standing in the doorway, looking tired and hesitant. His eyes met Robin's for a moment before he glanced away, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "Hey, Robin," Jake began, stepping inside. "I... I just wanted to talk. About earlier. About everything."
Robin nodded, grabbing a water bottle from a nearby table. "Yeah, I figured we needed to talk." He motioned for Jake to sit down on the edge of his bed. Jake hesitated before walking over and sitting down, clearly uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry," Jake said, his voice quiet but sincere. "For how I acted this morning. I lost my temper, and I said things I didn't mean. I get why you were mad, and I shouldn't have stormed off like that. I just... sometimes, it's hard to remember that I'm supposed to be 14, you know? And after everything that happened with Alex..."
Robin leaned against the wall, arms crossed as he listened. "I get it, Jake," he finally said. "You've been through a lot. You've got more on your shoulders than most kids your age, especially with the Omnitrix and everything else. But today... I was harsh. I was angry because I didn't want to see you get hurt or make a mistake that could cost you—or the team—big time."
Jake glanced up at Robin, his brow furrowing. "I know you were just trying to protect me, but it felt like... you didn't trust me. I'm not just a kid who can't handle himself. I've faced danger before. I've sacrificed things too. I gave up the Omnitrix once to save everyone. I'm not irresponsible."
Robin sighed and pushed off the wall, walking over to sit next to Jake on the bed. "It's not that I don't trust you. It's that I care about you. You're a part of this team, and I've seen what happens when we don't look out for each other. I should have been clearer about that instead of just shutting you down. I regret the things I said too."
The two sat there in silence for a moment, the tension between them slowly easing. Robin glanced at Jake and added, "You're not just a kid, Jake. You're one of us, and we'll always have your back. But that means we've gotta communicate better. If something's bothering you, don't just bottle it up—talk to me. Deal?"
Jake managed a small smile and nodded. "Deal. And, Robin? I'll try to be more careful. I know the Omnitrix is powerful, but I need to learn to control it better. I don't want to be a danger to the team."
Robin smiled, standing up and offering his hand. "We'll figure it out together. That's what teams are for."
Jake shook Robin's hand, feeling a weight lift from his chest. The argument earlier in the day felt like a distant memory, replaced by a stronger bond between them.
As Robin grabbed his staff from the corner of the room, he smirked. "Now, if you're done sulking, how about we hit the training room? You owe me a rematch in the sparring ring."
Jake chuckled, getting up from the bed. "You're on."
With that, the two Titans headed out of the room, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead—together.
