Jaune and Winter were training in the Combat Room, and it was far different than any of the spars Jaune had had previously.

Winter easily blocked a swing from Jaune's sword, She then pushed his sword away and went to deliver a kick, but the young blonde had seen it coming and with his shield, blocked the attack successfully. Winter was impressed that he was able to predict her attack, showing her that not only was his skill in combat improving, but he was able to read patterns from his opponent.

Winter removed her leg from Jaune's shield and then backflipped away from him before she summoned a Glyph underneath him, and quickly Jaune was shot up into the air. Jaune was shocked by what had just happened, but then he saw Winter shooting up in the air and right toward him, quickly, he raised his shield and prepared for her attack, which he was able to block once again. However, Winter used another Glyph to land then jumped back toward Jaune and this time, managed to slash him on his other side.

Jaune felt the impact of the attack on his aura as he fell to the floor. He landed on his back and winced in pain, but quickly got back up and put up a defensive stance as he looked at Winter.

Winter smiled as she saw this and she popped out her secondary blade from her saber and she smiled as she quickly rushed at Jaune.

She swung her saber at him but he managed to deflect it with his shield and that's when he tried to go in for a thrusting attack but it was Winter's turn to deflect his own attack with her secondary weapon. Neither of the two managed to land a hit, that was until Winter jumped up into the air and with both legs, kicked Jaune in the chest so hard that he was sent flying back.

Jaune was sent flying across the arena and hit the wall before falling to the ground flat on his stomach. The blonde knight groaned in pain as he got up, "Ouch," He said.

Winter, on the other end of the arena, popped her secondary blade back into place and then sheathed her saber and walked over to him with a small smile, "I think that's enough for today," She told him, "Are you ok?" She asked.

Jaune got to his feet and bent backward a bit with a smile, "Besides you kicking my butt, I'm fine," He said in a joking manner.

Winter chuckled at him, "Good to hear," She replied.

Jaune nodded, "Gotta say, though, You've been giving Pyrrha a run for her money! You're way harder on me than she is," He told her.

Hearing that, she realized she had gone a bit far, this was supposed to be a spar where he could keep up, but instead, Winter had gone all out. "Ah, my mistake," Winter said, "In the academy, they've trained us to hit as hard as you can, each fight should be treated as a real one," Winter told him.

Jaune shook his head, "No, It's alright, it's actually letting me realize just how far behind I am, and how much hard work I need to do," He reassured her. "Plus, I think you tell me what I'm doing wrong better than Professor Goodwitch," Jaune chuckled.

Winter laughed at the joke as well, "You best not let her hear you say that, Jaune, I've heard she's got quite the temper," Winter said, remembering stories Ironwood had told her about the fearsome combat teacher.

Jaune smiled when he heard Winter laugh, 'Wow! That was really cute!' Jaune thought for a moment. Jaune then shook his head away from such thoughts and went back on topic, "You'd make a great teacher," Jaune told her.

Winter smiled, "Thank you," She told Jaune. "Funny, I think I might already be a teacher," She said.

Jaune looked at her with a raised brow, "What do you mean?" He asked.

"Well, who do you think trained Weiss?" Winter asked with a proud look, "Not only have I trained her, but Penny and her team have been under my watch and I've been helping them immensely with their training, and then there's you, so in a sense, I am a teacher," She replied.

Jaune realized she was right, not only had she been training him, but Penny and her team as well, and she had been helping Weiss with her Glyphs. Winter truly was a teacher dealing with multiple students, well, not as much as Goodwitch.

"I like my job as a Specialist, don't get me wrong, but I've come to really care about the students I'm looking over, Penny most of all," Winter said with a chuckle. "Her upbeat nature is infectious,"

Jaune nodded in agreement, the ginger-haired girl he and Ruby had been spending time around was truly a kind and happy person. Jaune then thought back to Ruby's own upbeat and innocent nature, and couldn't help but think that was one reason the two got along so well. "Penny is something, though, she must have been really sheltered, she looks at things with this look in her eyes like she's never really seen them before," Jaune said. "Almost like she was just born,"

Jaune did not notice the slightly nervous look Winter had on her face, but it quickly disappeared and she nodded in agreement, "Yes, from her file, her father is very protective of her," She told Jaune.

"Specialist Schnee!"

Hearing the familiar voice, Winter chuckled as she turned around, "Speak of the devil," She said.

Penny walked into the arena and smiled at Winter with a wave and then the ginger-haired girl noticed Jaune and ran over to him, passed Winter, and gave him a hug, which was just as bone-crushing as Nora's.

"Hello, Jaune!" Penny greeted.

"H-Hi... Penny," Jaune said through the hug.

Penny let him go and looked at him, "I want to thank you for the comic recommendation!" Penny told him. "I'm still reading the series but so far it's amazing! I want to read more but I have to head back to the store in Vale to read the rest of the series, perhaps you can join me?" Penny asked with an innocent look.

Jaune nodded, "Sure, why not," He told her with a smile.

Penny's smile brightened, "Sensational!" She said.

"Penny," Winter called to get her attention. "Are you here for me or just to visit?" She asked with a smile.

Penny turned to her with a smile, "Oh, yes, sorry," Penny said, recompiling herself a little, "General Ironwood asked me to find you and tell you then he requires your presence on his ship," Penny told her.

Winter smiled and nodded, "Understood," She said and looked at Jaune, "I'll see you later, Jaune, Farewell for now,"

Jaune nodded, "See you later, Winter," Jaune said.

Winter left and Jaune went to the locker room with Penny following behind him as he put his sword away and walked out with Penny.

As he and Penny entered the Hallway, he took out his scroll and looked at the time and saw that it was still rather early in the day and then looked at Penny. "Hey Penny, If you want, we can head to that store down in Vale and get the rest of the series," he told her.

Penny smiled brightly, "Yes! I can't wait!" she said. She then grabbed Jaune by the hand and ran down the hall.

"H-Hey! Penny! Hold on!" Jaune cried as he blushed slightly about the girl grabbing his hand.

In what felt like being pulled by a jet, Jaine and Penny arrived at the Bullhead docks and the two got on one that was heading down to Vale earlier than the other ones and waited on it.

On it, Jaune was taking a few slow deep breaths and Penny noticed this and looked at the blonde with a raised brow.

"Are you alright, Jaune?" Penny asked

Jaune nodded, "I'm fine," He told her, "I'm just trying to relax so I don't puke on anyone," He said.

"Oh, Ruby had mentioned you suffer from motion sickness," Penny said.

"I do, but I've been dealing with it and It has been getting a lot better," He replied.

Penny nodded with a smile, "That is good," She said.

Jaune nodded with a smile back, "It is," He asked, "Besides reading comics, how has Beacon been treating you, Penny?" He asked.

"Oh, just wonderful!" Penny replied, "Vale's weather is a lot different from Atlas, and some of the people at Beacon are a lot more laid back than some of the students at Atlas, if I could, I'd very much like to live here!" She said.

Jaune chuckled, "Maybe after you graduate?" Jaune told her, "Honestly, I'd like to go see what the other kingdoms are like, but Vale's my home, and I don't think I'd live anywhere else," He told her.

Penny giggled, "Perhaps I will move here after my day at Atlas Academy," she said.

Finally, the Bullhead took off and the short flight was good as Jaune didn't throw up and felt better as he and Penny talked, eventually, the Bullhead landed and the two arrived down in Vale and walked toward the bookstore.

Back with Winter, she was in the General's office that was located on his ship and looked at Ironwood with a professional expression. "You wanted to see me, Sir?" She asked.

Ironwood looked up from his desk and looked at him with a smile on his face, "Ah, yes, "I wanted to get your report on team Penny's team and how Penny is adjusting with the other students from the other academies," Ironwood told her.

Winter smiled, "Penny's team is doing incredible, sir, Their training has improved and Cadet Ciel is a wonderful leader with a great mind for strategy, I'd say he could be a Specialist in the future, and I believe this year's team can take part in the Vytal tournament, perhaps even win," Winter said. "As for Penny, She's adjusting well, and has made friends with Ruby Rose of Team RWBY as well as Jaune Arc of Team JNPR, and is always excited to be around the two," Winter finished.

Ironwood nodded "Yes, I heard about that from Penny herself, she's very fond of the two, talking about how Ms. Rose had been helping her get out of her shell and Mr. Arc introducing her to comics," Ironwood told her. "Speaking of which, I heard you helping train Mr. Arc, how is that going along?" He asked.

Winter smiled, "Very well sir," Winter said, "He's quite the fast learner and very determined," She said.

Ironwood nodded, "I see," He replied, "Ah, how have you been adjusting?" he asked.

"I'm doing good sir, I'm glad I get to spend time with my sister and I find myself also making friends with her friends," Winter told him.

Ironwood nodded, "That's good to hear, Winter," He told her, "I think that's all for now, Specialist Schnee, you can take your leave now," he told her with a smile.

Winter gave him a quick nod with a smile and then left his office, she then left his office and back to Beacon's school grounds. Once down below, she walked back toward Beacon, deciding to see what Weiss was up to, however, she accidentally bumped into someone and they seemingly dropped some things they were carrying. Seeing what she had done, she helped the person pick up their things.

"I'm terribly sorry," Winter said.

"No, it was my fault, I wasn't watching where I was going," they told her.

Winter picked up one of the books and looked at the title, which read, "The Art of dust weaving," and Winter found that interesting as dust weaving was a very rare and difficult skill. However, she handed the book back to the girl, who was quite beautiful.

"Dust weaving, an interesting skill you wish to learn," Winter said with a smile.

The girl smiled at her, "Yes, I heard it has many advantages," She told Winter, "And with it being so rare, no one expects it to be used,"

Winter nodded, "I suppose so," Winter said, then remembering she hadn't introduced herself, "Ah, forgive my manners, I'm Specialist Winter Schnee, of the Atlas Military," Winter said, holding out a hand for the girl to shake.

The girl smiled and shook Winter's hand, "It's nice to meet you, Specialist Schnee," She told Winter, "My name is Cinder Fall, A 2nd year from Haven Academy," Cinder told her.

Winter gave her a quick nod, "A pleasure Cinder," Winter said before walking away.

Cinder watched as she walked away and a sinister smirk came to her lips, "The pleasure's all mine, Winter Schnee," Cinder said as she turned back around and walked toward her dorm room.

Cinder and Winter meet for a brief second, I'm sure that's not going places and setting up something between the two. Also, Jaune and Penny hanging out as friends! I'm sure that won't ever be important again, nor lead to anything crazy for Penny's character that might affect part 2 of the story!

We've got three chapters before the end of "Winter's Love" Act ends and we head right into "Yellow Death" Act I hope you all enjoy this act because after this... it goes downhill from here!
