I DON'T OWN DEATH NOTE OR CHARACTERS JUST THE PLOT. THIS STORY HAS NO CONNECTION TO THE DEATH NOTE PLOT AT ALL. HOPE YOU LIKE MY STORY!

It was my shift at Beyond's Cafe, and I was supposed to fill in for Cindy, the new girl. I hated her for calling in sick and I highly doubted that she was sick too. Cindy is probably with her boyfriend, Alexander again. I don't want to go into details as to what she is doing right now is beyond me. All I know is that girl is trying to steal my Light from me, but I have my eye on her! Literally. Like a hawk! Believe me when I say this... it wouldn't be good for Cindy if she got her grubby paws on Light.

I am Misa Amane or Misa Misa as people know me as the supermodel. Lately, I haven't had anything to do with modeling so I'm taking a break and working as a waitress. My agent says it's okay to have another job as a waitress as long as it doesn't interfere with my modeling. My agent also says that working at Beyond's helps with my fame and it so happens to say I helped save this place. It was a story that awed the fans and people in Japan about how I helped save a about to be condemned cafe.

Beyond's Cafe is named after the owner, Beyond Birthday which is a weird name, but who am I to judge? I nicknamed him BB, which he doesn't mind since I can only call him that. BB reminds me of Ryuzaki; they could be twins if they wanted to. So yeah, I was the real reason this cafe is not in ruins or rumble, and the first time I saw or met BB was on my break from a shoot for Blue Rose Magazine. I was so hungry that day that I just ran into the closest cafe happened to be Beyond's Cafe. It was a dinky place to be in and I liked the atmosphere it was giving off. Baby blue walls with random groups of colorful signs and a very cozy cafe. My waiter had been Beyond to take my order of a parfait. The parfait had vanilla ice cream, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and granola nuts with chocolate swirl. I looked at it and tried a spoonful of the sweet treat...I hadn't noticed BB still there and watching me eat the parfait. It had been the best parfait I had ever tasted I thought with a smile. He smiled and I noticed the red eyes under all that fuzzy, shaggy, black hair. "Yummy, that was the best thing I ever eaten all day -and in town."

BB stared at me and then responded," Yes, it is a shame that it will be the last of it after tomorrow."

"What? Why is that?" I yelled in surprise.

"Yes, this business is going to be closed down, and the building will be destroyed along with it. Unless I come up with the money to save this place I have no choice, but to shut the shop down," Beyond replied in a sad tone. Then the idea just dawned on me! Like a light switch turned on in my brain. Why not just promote the business with me? It could be charity work but it will be worth saving the place.

"I have an idea that I think you're going to like," I said with a big wide smirk on my face and added a wink to my face.

"Oh really now? How's this idea of yours? I would like to hear about it, and maybe it will help with my business this idea of yours." Beyond seemed confident about my thought, but then again what did he have to lose? There is a nice shop about to be in ruins, and if I don't do something the place is going bye-bye! I just needed to draw people's attention.

"Oh, ok! First, you need to stop being creepy and be more happy-looking. Next, I will help with my popularity and promote the cafe. I will help by taking pictures with the customers and serving them their food. How about that idea?" I waited for BB to answer me.

"That is a great idea, but I must say who you are and what is your profession?" Beyond asked out of curiosity.

"Oh, right... You heard of Misa Amane, right?" I was anxious to know what he was going to say.

"The famous number one model all over Japan? Could I not? You're most likely to be in every magazine known to man." Beyond said as he smiled rather creepy as his eyes glimmered red.

"Oh okay, so you are a fan? Since you seem to know who I am?" Happily, I smiled at BB waiting for his answer.

"Oh no, I'm not a fan." He bluntly stated and I fell back in disbelief.

It's amazing how he knows about me, but yet he's not a fan! Okay, calm down, Misa. It's not like it's the end of the world as we know it.

"Is there something wrong, Misa?" Beyond innocently asked me as he looked at me as I got from the floor.

"Oh no, nothing at all!" Waved my hands from side to side and laughed nervously.

"Anyways, we need to change your look! I mean look at yourself! Horrible! Your image screams makeover," I explained to Beyond that image is important if you want to make a first impression on customers.

"Makeover? I look fine just as I am. I don't need one." Beyond quietly ended the conversation.

"Nah-uh. You need one!" I argued back as I stared at his current style of clothing. A plain, white long-sleeved, shirt and dark, blue jeans with long, and ebony hair were in a messy style. His bangs were covering up his face and eyes. I wanted to do something with his hair, but I had no clue what. Then another idea came to me and I smirked evilly as got out my makeup bag. The first thing, I did was sit down BB, and I took out a brush from my bag and the world will forbid me from bringing my brush with me on a bad hair day.

Brushing the long messy hair that was Beyond's hair, I gently hummed a melody from the top of my head and I could hear the groans from Beyond, himself as I pulled at his hair to detangle it. "Don't move! Um...say I forgot to ask, what's your name?"

"Be-yond Birthday!" He said as I yanked a chunk of hair from his messy top.

"Beyond Birthday, huh? That is a strange name, but then again you are a bit strange yourself." I murmured the last part to myself. "You don't mind if I just called you BB for short?" I asked Beyond as I finally finished detangling his hair.

"No. That sounds quite good, if you want you can call me that okay? I don't think I will let anyone else call me that besides you." I looked Beyond strangely as he said that and then it hit me. This guy doesn't have many friends or maybe none at all.

"Sure thing, BB!" I laughed and smiled as I took out a rubber band to hold back his hair like what I read in some manga about some scary-looking guy until the girl rubber banded his hair back then he looked like some normal guy. I was looking for something like that to happen with Beyond, but he was still missing something else, what is the question? Again the idea hit me, I used some makeup to cover up the dark circles under his eyelids and the results were marvelous.

"Look in the mirror, Beyond!" I said as I held a handheld mirror to his view and believe me he was shocked to see what I'd done to him.

"You can barely tell it's me! Wow, what a difference! Thank you, Misa..." Beyond stared at himself in the mirror from every angle and put down the mirror on the nearest table next to him.

"Don't thank me just, yet... I need to do something about your clothes too. I'll call someone in to get something for us, okay?" He nodded as I dialed the only person I trusted with my clothes... "Hey, Matsuda! Do you have maid and butler uniforms?" I paused until I heard a yes on the other end. "Ok! Good, bring them over to Beyond's Cafe. It's in front of the plaza fountain, okay? I'll be outside waiting, and bring some helping hands while you're on it! Oh, and don't forget to bring all photos of me. Okay! Sure thing! Thank you, bye!"

"Misa, I really mean it when I say thank you for everything that you're doing for me. Do you have to bring in more people into this?" Beyond asked nervously.

"Yes, silly... We need all the help that we can get okay, BB?" I said with confidence.

"If you say so, Misa... then it will be for the business." Beyond looked at quite unsure if it was a good idea to leave his business in my hands.

Matsuda finally came to the shop with the helping hands, pictures, and outfits. "So what are you doing in a place like this, Misa? Especially with a guy? Not to mention the photos from your shoot are for the up-coming fan mail service. What do you plan to do with them?" Matsuda asked so many questions that I had to answer him because if I didn't Akira wouldn't let me hear the end of it.

"Matsuda, I know this sounds crazy, but I'm using the photos to help save this business." I finally blurted out.

"Are you crazy thinking about saving a condemned place like this on your own?!" Matsuda had an outburst.

"No, that's why I called you for!" I smiled, showing my pearly whites.

"Ugh! I swear Misa one of these days you are going to get it! So what do I have to do?" Matsuda sighed in defeat.

"You, my friend are going to help clean and after that, you are going to spread a rumor that Misa Misa is here at Beyond's Cafe signing autographs and that will bring in the customers here. I will be a maid signing and getting the orders from the customers. And my newest friend, Beyond will be helping me here too." I pointed at him and he blushed as he tried to hide it.

"Oh okay, but do you think this is going to work? What will happen once you run out of photos?" Matsuda questioned me worried.

"Oh well, I always have a backup plan!" I asked Matsuda about the outfits and she handed them to me I told Beyond to go get changed and then gave him the butler's uniform.

Beyond came out of the office, and boy did he look amazing in his new uniform. "Beyond, come here silly boy!" I called out to the shy young man before me and he looked too afraid to come near the group.

"Misa...," That's all he managed to say, hiding away like some shy little boy looking for his mommy until I grabbed his arm and pulled him towards me.

"Matsuda, I would like to meet Beyond, the owner of the cafe," I say in a matter-of-fact way and pat his back with a gentle smack.

"Nice, to meet you, I'm Matsuda, Misa's clothing designer and these people are my family members. Ichigo, Dai, Sachi, Mai, Riku, and Yue." Akira kindly introduced her family and they all waved at Beyond.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Beyond Birthday." Beyond introduced himself.

"Yeah, I know weird, but that's his name," I explained.

"Okay, well let's get to work you guys. And it was a pleasure to meet you, Beyond." Matsuda smiled at Beyond and Beyond smirked playfully.

After an hour of cleaning, it was good as new like it was never messy in the first place. "Okay, Matsuda. Now that we cleared the area from its former self... We need you to spread the word that I'm here okay?" I ordered Matsuda.

He saluted and said, "Yes, I'm right on it!"

"Ichigo, can you set up the table for the autographs?" I asked kindly.

"Sure thing, Misa." Ichigo happily agreed. Ichigo puts up the table as I wait for the customers to come in.

Wow! Matsuda did an awesome job of bringing in the customers. I thought as the people started to flow into the shop. There were a lot of people here just for me, but hey... at least I did something to help the poor shop. The seats were full of customers and I was ready to take their orders. I approached two customers," Hello, welcome to Beyond's Cafe. How may I help you?" I had my notepad and pen ready at hand.

"Oh my gosh, it's Misa Misa!" The girl said.

"Oh my! You're right!" The other girl said too.

"Yup! I'm here to lend a helping hand to a friend of mine. So what would you like to order girls?" I cheerfully said.

"We both want the special," The first girl said ordering for the both of them.

"Alright girls... come right up!" I chirped with happiness.

"Are we going to get your autograph, Misa? I heard from a lady that if you order the special you get a bonus package of an autograph with Misa Misa." The other girl said to me.

"Um... well if that's what you heard then it must be true!" I smiled at the two girls and they cheered with glee.

I went to check on Beyond to see how things are. "Hey, Beyond! How are things going for you?" I asked him as he was busy working behind the counter making the specials that everyone ordered.

"Pretty busy, Misa. The orders keep coming like crazy, and with Dai helping me it's no problem. So what brings you here?" Beyond said he barely finished an order.

"Oh, just here to give you yet two more orders of the special." He nodded as I heard someone call my name.

"Misa, we need you over here at the booth!" Riku said in a hurry.

"Ok, I'll be there in a minute!" I yelled back.

I walked over to the table that Ichigo had set for me. There was a huge line for the autographs and my eyes were like big plates. I sat on the chair provided for me and saw the boxes full of photos of me. "Okay, who's first?" I asked looking at a guy.

We eventually ran out of photos and had to improvise with the shop's flyers of a cute panda. We were lucky there were plenty of flyers to pass out to every customer who came by the shop to eat the special and get my autograph. The business was doing so well that there was a report to catch the whole thing on TV. That means more advertisement for the shop. "So Misa what brings you here to this little cafe?" The reporter said to me as she held the microphone close to me. I replied with a, 'I'm just helping a friend in need!' The reporter announced that Misa Misa was helping out a friend to the public and ended the report like that. After a news broadcast like that, I'm sure that there's going to be more people coming. Then there was a call from my agent calling me, and I guessed that he saw the broadcast along with the people that represent Misa Misa. He was telling me that I was out of my mind for giving away the photos, but I told him that I charged them for it.

"Okay, I guess I'll have to make copies of that photo for the fan mail service. Misa, what are you doing in that place anyway?" My agent complained.

"Oh well, I'm just helping a friend in need is all. Why do you ask?" I wanted answers from my agent whether he liked it or not.

"Nothing, just thought that this could make you even more of a star if you keep doing charity work." He said while daydreaming.

"Oh okay, Akira... Is there something else on you had in mind?" I poked at his buttons just to get the information that I wanted.

"No, Misa... Just here to say good job, Misa, and have a wonderful day. Ok, bye!" With that, Akira hung up and I smiled away to work.

It was hard work, but we managed to come up with the money needed to save Beyond's Cafe. Not after the broadcast, which was on not too long ago, there was a call from the bank and Beyond had answer the phone on the wall. "Hello, yes I'm fully aware that I need that kind of money. Oh, you're asking if I have money yet? Yes, I do. Oh, great and thank you for your time, good bye."

"What happen BB?" I asked suspiciously as I come back to the counter as I just finished signing.

"Well, they said that they will come for the money after the shop closes. It's a good thing I had some money saved just in case. It maybe a little bit of money, but at least it will be something." Beyond explained and I sighed with relief.

"Oh, that's good news, Beyond!" Matsuda comes in and smiles at him.

"Yes, I have to agree. I didn't think this plan of Misa's would work so well, but I got to hand it to Misa. I'm glad I met her... I owe her my life. That's how much I appreciate the help without her my business would have been in ruin and I would have to sell my cafe to the bank." Beyond said happily as I hugged him and he blushes three shades of color.

"No problem, BB! I'm happy to help friend in need." I said to Beyond as I released him.

"BB? What a cute nick name, Misa!" Matsuda said with excitement and squeaked with joy.

"Only Misa is allowed to call me that," Beyond said sternly.

"Okay, Beyond... I see that Misa is fond of you and the same goes for you. This is Misa that we are talking about here!" Matsuda continued speak with joy.

"Yes, I'm fully aware that Misa considers me as a friend, but I'm happy with the results of the cafe's success." Beyond calmly tells us.

"Is it almost closing time?" Matsuda asked Beyond.

"Yes, five minutes left. Please escort the customers out once they are done. Matsuda, will please inform the customers of closing time?" Beyond responded back and Akira agreed.

"Everyone, I'm here to announce that the shop will close within five minutes please feel free to finish your food at your own pace," Matsuda told the customers.

The day was long but worth the effort that everyone put into the shop. All the customers one by one had already left the cafe and it was just us there. Beyond began to talk," Okay, I would like to thank everyone for helping me with this shop. I owe you all something once this business is reopened to the public you can all come back for free treats. It's on the house." After Beyond was done talking there was cleaning to be done, but the doorbell rang and we turned towards the door. Two men were at the door with two briefcases in hand. We automatically thought that they were the people from the bank.

"Beyond Birthday, I'm Teru Mikami...I'm from the bank. We talk on the phone about the money you owe to the bank?" Teru said as he came closer to extend a hand out to Beyond. Beyond held out his hand to Teru and they shook hands.

"Yes, as I stated earlier on the phone I have your money," he handed a huge stack of money and Teru grabbed the money and opened up the briefcase on a table nearby.

"Yes, well... thank you for your business. You may keep owning the shop and please don't let it happen again." I thought it was rude of Teru to talk about the business and it was a disappointment.

"Hello, I am Watari...," the other man introduced himself," I would like to buy this shop from you."

"What?" I was surprised and replied," You can't!"

"As my friend said I cannot hand you my shop over to a stranger." Beyond coolly said.

"Well, if I cannot have the shop perhaps I can help you...One can say in a partnership? What do you say will accept my offer?" Watari suggested.

"I think you should take it perhaps he can help you even more with the shop, Beyond." I offered to him.

Beyond looked like he was thinking it over and had finally responded," I accept."

"You have a good friend there, Beyond. She's a keeper." Watari said.

I blushed as I looked at Beyond, he was also red on the face. Matsuda grabbed us both in a hug and said," Aww... how cute you guys are blushing!"

"Matsuda!" I yelled and everyone laughed including the static Teru then he went his way.

"Well, since everyone helped out in this shop how about I give each and every one of you a part-time job if you guys want."

"Wow, I can't... I already have a job so I'm out of the picture, but the rest of them will decide on what they want." Matsuda said.

The family members agreed and looked at me. "What? I don't know I have to ask my agent about this."

"You can come in whenever you want, but you don't have to. It's your choice, Misa." Beyond told me.

"Alright, I will get the job since I like working here. I know my agent will have a cow over this, but whatever! I will join the crew!" I said happily and we all put our hands together then threw them up in the air.

Well, that's how I, Misa Amane save this cute little shop called Beyond's Cafe. Good story huh? I sure hope so. That's how I become friends with a strange, but kind man. So that's my story.
